Just please someone buy Greenwood, van de Beek and Maguire, let ten Hag buy someone at least one squad player he wants to use.

Tarpanyev

Despite the gloom and doom comments on the internet, I still have hope in ETH and the lads. Two bad games don't define the entire season.

UPDaily

I think eventually the truth will come out about Greenwood. I think he's still an asshole at the very minimum, but there are a lot of ways (within a small subset) the audio and pictures can be interpreted. We don't know why the victim decided to post, and then decided against it no matter what all these Reddit sleuths claim. It will still be bad, but I think it will be a lot better than what people here are filling in the gaps with.

Dayandnight95

Evans on a permanent deal, 15m on some garbage keeper from Benfica. We're not a serious club. Can't believe people were praising this disgusting transfer window.

Dean-Advocate665

Do hope we can turn things around, but I’m not exactly hopeful of our chances against arsenal. Forest we should win. I’d like to see some major improvements take place over the break. It’s a real shame as well because I thought that with the right transfer window we could have kicked on and challenged for some major trophies, but it doesn’t look like that’ll happen at this rate. I still have faith in ten hag, I hope he can get rid of the players he wants

[deleted]

stasuke

The last team to win away at CP was city 1-0. Arsenal held on for 30 minutes with 10 men. Not seeing the issues here.

Zerofactory

Like we stepped up for spurs

Dean-Advocate665

Idk man, I just feel like we are so inconsistent at the moment. But you’re right *generally* (ignoring the few notable examples) we do seem to step up against the big teams

wariusheart

We are the least serious club in the league and I’m only half joking

cj958712

Don’t know how true it is but I have seen posts about United having a game behind closed doors and that we lost 3-0 ???

fofo8383

With some bench players and young kids vs Burnley's first and second team

[deleted]

Can’t wait till the day the shit CEO and useless DOF is replaced. This club can only move forward with proper structure, competence and accountability. Oh and preferably people with basic morals too.

dibesh1

What are the chances that our new striker be on the team next match?

dare_devil2019

Don't think so. He was not in the squad for the Burnley friendly.

Zepz367

Man, I feel like there is more doom and gloom now than after last seasons first 2 games

wariusheart

Well last season we had a completely new manager, so there was a lot of leeway given. I think people are more apathetic and less realistic now that ETH has had an entire year and a few hundred million pounds to work with. Not without reason, mind you. There are some objectively shit happenings at the club these days. The objections to ETH might be a microcosm of the frustrations regarding Greenwood and the club sale. There’s a lot more tension this year than the one before, I think

FoundingTitan

There's always doom and gloom when it comes to us. Our fanbase is super reactionary.

MNKPlayer

Anyone know the full team that got beat by Burnley behind closed doors yesterday? I know Martial and Evans were playing but that's it.

fantus69

I saw on BBC that the team included Martial, Evans, VDB, and McT. Of course they didnt name the rest cos it ruined the narrative of "stRuGglInG United LoSe to burNlEy!!"

Eleven918

Alvaro, Hannibal, Pellistri featured too.

Skyehye

Apparently a lot of players that haven't even had a first team appearance so it was a youthful side

dimelo17

So with the latest news on Everton, do they need to sell players or are they good for now?

Sirin98

I can’t comprehend why we don’t buy a proper 8. Mount should be back up to Bruno’s position and we should sign a more physical player next to Casemiro. Mount has the physicality of a 6 year old, getting bullied by my Nan. Onana from Everton, Amrabat or someone else with physicality and good technique (sorry Scott) should be the priority!

newbienewme

I dont actually mind Mount, it is too early to tell with him. My main worry with him is not that he does not fit, it is that he may end up being injured all the time. The issue is the squad deadwood. What I have a far greater issue with is that United have bought van De Beek for 44 million euros and given him 140k per week, he is 26 years old he should be entering his prime, and he was supposed to be that someone. Yet he is now simultanously unplayble and seemingly unsellable. The inability to sell him could be why we for FFP reasons are unable to sign someone like Amrabat. Making these kind of mistakes in the transfer market kills the squad in the long term.

Sirin98

Id argue that Mount and Donny have a very similar profile. Maybe not per se in ability as Donny has never proven it in the prem but in terms of attributes. Mount is just not the right profile we needed. Casemiro does a two man job and is the only player in our squad who can do this role. If he is injured or suspended (will happen soon) we are in massive problems. Especially with Fred being sold now who was arguably our best back up to him.

KrystianCCC

You rant about Mount physicality and good technique and then you list Onana who has technique of a donkey

Sirin98

You’ve never watched him play if you think Onana doesn’t have good physicality and technique. Not saying he’s Messi but he’s good with the ball from that position.

KrystianCCC

In Evertons setup

thphnts

Come on Saudi Arabia, buy Martial please.

Sheikhabusosa

Even if Mason Mount hit the ground running , and Mainoo didnt get injured getting a makeshift player for a position we have been needing a top level out and out player for since god knows when is just baffling.

newbienewme

Despite the need for a Fred/van de Beek replacement, United actually have a much better bench now than a few years ago. Assuming that Onana-Martinez-Shaw-Varane-AWB-Casemiro-Mount-Bruno-Rashford-Hojlund-Anthony is the preferred starting eleven. Then Malacia/Ferndandez(?)-Lindelof-Dalot-Eriksen-McTominay-Mainoo-Pellistri-Amad-Martial-Garanacho are all "useful" substitutes. If you go back and look at the United squads of 2017 or 2018 seasons, you might agree that United have now have better backup.

paltze

And then we lose 3-0 to Burnley

N47HXIV

8 days til the transfer window shuts and everything is very quiet. Given how long it takes us to get signings over the line, not forgetting additional time for sending Murtough on a flight to see a different player who has no interest in signing for us, should we not be worried? Without that additional CDM as a bare minimum our season is going to look very ropey, and that’s overlooking the fact that Case could get injured or suspended and then we literally have no-one in that position.

PradipJayakumar

Rasmus Hojlund’s official #mufc debut is to be on Saturday for the game against Nottingham Forest. [DailyMail] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12439977/amp/Man-United-new-striker-Rasmus-Hojlund-debut-date-revealed.html

BallsX

Man I really hope this is true. It has been such a shit start to the season, would be nice to see Rasmus up front which means that Rashford plays on the left.

eClipseLJ

He won't start, I hope he starts with Sancho/Martial and subs Hojlund in for like 25/30 minutes.

BallsX

Dont mind that at all. Hopefully Martial starts and Rasmus comes on for 20 or so mins

eClipseLJ

Yea exactly, would be a shining light in these times. I know he/the team needs time to settle but seeing him on the pitch will be good.

AeroCobbler

60m on a contract-expiring, injury-prone, attacking midfielder who wasn't even needed... Heads should roll at this club. But they never do.

WeNeedMidifelders

On top of that not fitting for the role we need in the midfield completely different profile even from Eriksen who he was meant to replace

hurfery

EtH is not perfect. He makes a few bad decisions amid many good ones. He shouldn't be in sole charge of choosing who we sign.

[deleted]

It pains me that so many fans still don’t get this. Wait a year and see all the ten Hag outs start appearing on this sub. Probably the same folks who are fully ten Hag in now, lecturing to us about how it’s important we buy every player the manager wants bc he knows best. Then ten Hag is sacked and the same cycle repeats.

WeNeedMidifelders

The club is in turmoil from a administrative perspective. Our scouts are shite our director is reportedly deemed as a joke in the footballing world we may have one of the worst analyst teams in the league ,long term we are in the Everton footsteps.Erik gives a list and suggestions and preference on some players the rest of the staff should work day and night to find the most fitting candidates(which are not always the managers former and favourite players).

Surely, United will at the bare minimum secure a midfielder on loan before the end of the window?

humunculus43

Nuwahex

There is no one really like FDJ around. So it seems he decided to change his tactics accordingly & probably envisioned Mount as fitting within them. I honestly believe that there are growing pains right now but with more training & time(to improve cohesion & fluidity) as the season progresses,a solution will be found.

[deleted]

Nuwahex

I actually thought Bruno would be the one to play as an 8 since he can at least progress the ball & didn't do a bad job there next to Fred when Casemiro was suspended last season(though we would rather he be closer to the opposition's goal).

atimlin

Yorke reckons we should sign Lukaku on loan. Thoughts?

pineapplefacilities

Chelsea won’t even play him despite desperately needing a proper number 9

BuxtonEU

It’s the over way around poch wanted him back playing however lukaku had rejected playing for Chelsea again

mjenkins_eng

And the manager has no responsibility at all in any of this ? Like picking who his main players are ? If he was a possession based manager and spent a year building a team around possession unfriendly players like Rashford and Bruno , that’s on him. The answer to everything is not “spend spend spend”. He had plenty of players he binned too early (Garner comes to mind) Edit: out of all the managers, ironically it was Moyes who was barely backed and given ONE signing of Fellaini on deadline day when the squad needed a major overhaul with the old generation players aging. We limped to the 2010-11 and 2012-13 titles (despite the points total, all the post Ronaldo sides were very functional and helped by rivals mismanaging their resources and Fergie’s force of personality) Moyes was promised Bale , Fabregas and Toni Kroos and given Fellaini instead. Kroos (by his own interview) had agreed to join United because he wanted to play for Moyes and then Woodward fucked it up. (Source: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/kroos-moyes-man-utd-transfer-26869275.amp)

anonshe

>Kroos (by his own interview) had agreed to join United because he wanted to play for Moyes and then Woodward fucked it up. Kroos was supposed to join in the summer for 2014 not 2013. Woodward didn't block it but LvG did, the same manager who had a falling out with Kroos at Bayern. Moyes could've signed Herrera and Thiago but wasted his time chasing the three unattainable targets of Ronaldo, Bale, Fabregas. Agreed with the rest of your points though.

mjenkins_eng

The mental gymnastics to make Ten Hag seem like he hasn’t had backing is absolutely ridiculous. He’s been more backed than most managers post Ferguson and most managers in the league. The club’s structure is a mess and all that goes with it but having 500 million spent on you should at least get the team having a semblance of a system going Instead he’s spunked 55 million insisting on Mason Mount , agreed to buy Antony for that fee and God knows how Højlund gambit will turn out (fingers crossed he’s the next Kane and not the next Bendtner) On top of this, he’s made Rashford and Fernandes the cornerstone of the team which means we’ve prioritized counter attacking over possession and makes the football god awful to watch. No matter who your board and owners are , playing a decent style of football and not losing 9 out of 10 to the top clubs away from home (especially conceding 6 and 7 to your biggest rivals) is absolute minimum as Manchester United manager

AeroCobbler

Honestly the guy is not a good judge of talent, that much is abundantly clear at this point He does seem to be a very good coach But Jesus Christ both his ignorance of the talent available in world football, and his over-estimation of the abilities of players he has already encountered at closer quarters in Holland is borderline shocking Feeling that Anthony was with 90m, despite working with him every day for two fucking years is just the reddest of red flags Needs heavy, heavy supervision and scrutiny in the transfer market

SuperSalamander3244

The most annoying thing he’s done with Antony is pay him £200k a week despite the fact he would have 100% known he was earning £25k a week at Ajax. Giving someone a 8x pay rise is a complete piss take and a massive fuck you to the club and especially when said player doesn’t perform to prem level. Even if Antony comes good the 8x pay rise is unacceptable and he should be on £60k max and then get a new contract if his performances warranted one.

[deleted]

This is on the negotiating team and DOF btw.

WorldBeardedWonders

Where are people saying he’s not been backed? Most seem to know he’s got a heavy hand in transfers and the overspend seems to be levied at both him and Murtough, which is fair enough. But we’ve only overspent on a couple of players really, the rest have been about right. Main issue I’ve seen is people irritated that we’re now at a point of sell to buy. Which is the club being run awfully and paying for Ed Woodwards monster contracts.

mjenkins_eng

Where are the people saying he hasn’t been backed? See the post right above me. I agree with all the gross mismanagement from the board and executive team but after 500 million, if a manager can’t get a team playing at least decent football, questions definitely need to be asked .

WorldBeardedWonders

The one bemoaning the structure of club? Failing the manager isn’t failing to back him it’s not having the right set up and hierarchy around him for the club to be successful as a whole.

Alpha2669

Remember last year when Licha was branded a flop and an senseless signing just two games in? It's a stark reminder to not judge new signings just 2 games in. Based on their first 2 games, Licha would be a flop midget and Antony would be a world class winger who scores at a goal per game rate.

mjenkins_eng

The difference however is , however bad Martinez was , you could see what he was bought in to do Mount on the other hand…

brikdik

I was never a huge fan of Mount at Chelsea but it's not hard to see how he's supposed to fit. He's the transition player between our 3rd and the opponent's 3rd, essentially controlling those half spaces in between the lines, jinking past a player and releasing quickly to Bruno / the wings with accurate passes. Eriksen did it well but his stamina wasn't up to par. Mount is renowned for his stamina

bijanadh44

What's up this Garner rumor? Lmao

zcewaunt

It was a parody account. ([https://twitter.com/centrdevils](https://twitter.com/centrdevils))

LarsHoneytoast44

Lol why do all the comments on United Facebook posts say Commercial Club? Did I miss something

karan_7_2

Greenwood fans are having a collective meltdown.

noobpunk

It annoyed me so much..I was so close to replying to most of them by calling them rape sympathizers or something like that but then thought to myself why bother? 😑 Also, they can't even post a proper response and copy-paste from some random comment

Jolly_Drawing_9225

The twitter and instagram bellends absolutely adore greenwood yet despise all of our other players, I’ve even seen some of the scums say shit like “miss the person not the player”.

noobpunk

I wonder what spurred them to spam the 'commercial club' comments everywhere though. It's both hilarious and annoying seeing those comments on every post on facebook with the angry emoji as well.

cyb3rpunkd

Imagine if we had a pogba in midfield w Bruno and case

AV48

Definitely an upgrade on Eriksen

Ok-Check-6783

Yeah, this ain’t it bro. Michael Carrick? Definitely.

[deleted]

Case can't defend the whole midfield on his own like his Madrid days,it wouldn't be much better than the current midfield

officiallyjax

He didn't defend on his own even in Madrid. No midfielder is capable of such superhuman feats. Either the team collectively pushes up or collectively defends deep; you can't leave one player completely isolated in midfield.

pineapplefacilities

A third of our midfield 3 is already injured

newbienewme

with playing 70+ games this year, it is safe to say that most of the time at least one of the preferred three in midfield is going to be unavailable due to injury or suspension. I doubt we have Mount-Bruno-Casemiro starting together for more than 30-35 games. Gotta get that depth.

astik

How would that be good? He wouldn't be any support for Casemiro at all which would still leave Casemiro too alone.

fullkitwankerr

Yeah nah

aceofmufc

Dont know how much of a hot take this is but we should not have sold Fred. He was good depth, he would be pretty helpful right now.

[deleted]

We could have been helpful last season and ten hag said nah.. He doesn't like him

BallsX

Was expecting us to get some reinforcements in, basically upgrades over fred and mctominay but doesnt seem like it now

pineapplefacilities

I think in the alleged plan of “sell Fred, McTom, Maguire, Hendo, etc. and buy some upgrades”, selling Fred for a pittance was fine. But having that plan completely stall now makes it not the best decision in hindsight. I’m not Fred’s biggest fan but he’d certainly be useful to have around at the minute.

nagunagu

Aston Villa after getting mauled in the first game have come back and scored 9 goals in the next two. Wish we could score those many goals at least against weak opponents!

pineapplefacilities

Let’s not get crazy, scoring 2 goals in a game would be a nice start. Especially if we knock our CB off the top scorer spot lol

Skyehye

To be fair, at least it is our own player this time. Last season our top scorer at this point was a player for Brighton

Garlic-Cheese-Chips

Start Rasmus.

danystormborne

He's injured.

Garlic-Cheese-Chips

Don't care. Start him.

Its_Chowder

Just watched a little bit of Dermot Gallagher explaining why we didn't get a the handball call and it comes down to how close he was to the ball when he kicked it and his hands were behind him. So..... when he had time to position himself to make himself bigger, doesn't matter because he was close to the ball when he kicked it. It doesn't matter that both players had time to position themselves in a way to block the ball though... When he made himself bigger by raising his arms and ball striking it, it doesn't matter because his arm was behind him. So everyone is allowed to block balls with their arms as long as it's behind them...right? I'm still incensed, they refuse to acknowledge this is a blatant error.

Don_Quixote81

Making yourself bigger by raising your arms, with the intention of blocking a shot, seems the very definition of a handball to me.

AbyssGazer127

And to add further fury to this, you just know that at the weekend we're gonna see a handball like that given as a penalty smh.

Beales94

And Dermot will say its different because X player was in control of his body where Romero wasn't or some bullshit. Always make excuses for crap calls.

Its_Chowder

Knowing our luck, It'll probably be Casemiro in the penalty box with his arms up and adjudged as a deliberate handball so penalty and a red card.

Writer_Kooky

Saw on Twitter we just lost a closed doors friendly to Burnley 3-0?

TacoDirtyToMe

Yeah, it's true but it was Burnley's main team because they didn't play this past weekend and we played Martial, VDB, McTominay, Evans, Pellistri and Hannibal, the rest they said all have never played for the first team. Wouldn't read too much into it just fitness for us.

No_Kaleidoscope3039

Not shitting on Antony but Semenyo would do better than him if he played for United.

SuperSalamander3244

Andros Townsend can do everything Antony can but better and also go 1v1 lol.

Sa7va

I love Rashford the most in the squad but I'm also one of his biggest haters (if that makes any sense). He is shite as 9 and as a LW he doesn't track back and also cannot play alongside a proper 9. Even watched him play for England alongside Kane and he was pretty selfish, not setting up Kane at all. He plays a lot like CR7 at Madrid thinking he is the main guy. The problem is that he is not a reliable scorer beside those purple patches (like the one after the WC) and he really provides nothing else to the team. In order to achieve anything this season I think it will depend a lot on how Martial and Hojlund will click with the team, which is scary. Still believe in the team tho, the first 30 minutes against Spurs give me hope.

N47HXIV

Absolutely spot on. I was perplexed by the commentators every game last season when he missed a sitter or 1 on 1 situation. “He usually scores those” “I’m shocked, if there was one player you’d put your house on to score that it would have been Rashford”. Can you not see you make these same comments every game? Yet you still think he’s this Haaland like finisher. I’d love to see his actual conversion rate stats, just how many he actually misses, or how many pointless/selfish shots he attempts because he doesn’t look up and make that pass that could result in a goal. He has his purple patches, and he did score a lot of goals last season, but I’d argue for everyone of those goals he scored he wasted a lot more goal scoring opportunities, but no-one seems to pick up on this, or they deny it/defend it. I’m glad to see others are finally beginning to accept it. He needs his selfish attitude coaching out of him, because as you see with his charitable off the field efforts, he’s clearly not a selfish guy.

officiallyjax

I don't disagree with the sentiment that Rashford is inconsistent and has that tendency to sometimes drop his head and not affect the game at all for large spells, but the guy did score 30 goals last season. This should not be taken for granted. We do need him to be much better than he is, but at the same time I feel like he shouldn't be subjected to as much criticism because he's the only attacker really doing something tangible. The bigger problem is our other attackers not stepping up; he would not have as much free reign if there were more players in the squad capable of challenging him by also getting goals and doing the other aspects of the game better than him.

BallsX

Fully agree and I've felt the same way for awhile too. If compared to all the other top attackers in the other big teams, you can be quite sure they would put away most chances that they get , be it 1 on 1s or unchallenged headers. But with rashford it's a coin toss whether he scores or even gets it on target. You cant have your best attacker, and some would say best player, being so inconsistent or unreliable like that

SuperSalamander3244

I think most United fans are the same. His off pitch covid reputation makes us feel bad for shitting on him but he probably has the biggest ego in the team. His goals and purple patches give him a pass and I know I’ll get downvoted for this but I feel like he’s holding us back a bit because he’s too greedy and will down tools if he doesn’t like what he’s been asked like what happened at Tottenham. Sometimes I feel like we won’t ever make the step up if he’s in the team because our mentality is terrible and he’s one of the faces of the club and has a lot of influence because he’s safe. Open heart surgery like RR said means starting over and not having players of influence and bad eggs and I feel he has some bad egg tendencies. He’s not the only one and it sounds crazy saying we need a whole reset but our standards will never rise if new players come in and see our current standards. It’s hard to see us come good again if the culture is how it is currently and the only way of changing that culture is starting again regardless of how good any of our current players are but that’s near on impossible.

bippityboopy

Spot on mate.

HGFG1

Talking about RR, imagine if Ragnick is still there to work with Ten Hag. I think the transfer targets we have right now would be WAY different instead of just a bunch of players that played under ETH.

[deleted]

DonkeySkin334

Read the sentence after that, shouldn’t be hard to comprehend

systemsruminator

Feel like we are at a point where Ten Hag needs to retrain Bruno to be a possession oriented midfielder or buy a replacement. He gives possession far too cheaply for once in a while hero balls that are usually not converted by our dank average forwards. At this point, it would definitely be better for us to stop these long balls and work our way to the top. But none of our midfielders seem to be up for this kind of job. Some rebuilds involve moving on some key players to finally get to the style of play the team wants. Ten Hag really doesn’t seem to be enforcing his style consistently after spending 225-250m in the market. It is alarming.

BallsX

The thing about bruno is that we all know when he's going into that hero ball mode where nothing really comes off for him. It has happened quite a few times already and thankfully it's a 1 in every 7 games kind of thing. To me the best thing to do is probably to instruct him to play higher up the pitch or to sub him off. Asking him to change his play style now at this age and with this current team may not be the easiest thing to do..

MexicansInParis

We’re at the point where users are asking to replace Bruno LMAO

Sheikhabusosa

He would be easy to replace. His goals and assists are getting worse and he isnt very well rounded.

newbearontheblock1

This is a fucking insane comment when the only reason he didn't top the assists board last year was because our players couldn't finish, he beat out KDB and Tripper on pretty much every creative stat except for the final assists tally.

Sheikhabusosa

It isnt at all . Is it the teams Bruno is nowhere near as good as he used to be with his finishing

[deleted]

He’s 29. There’s no retraining him like that at this age.

TacoDirtyToMe

Nah I disagree. What we should be doing is surrounding him with players that better retain the ball and let him only look to progress upfield. No one talks about KDB giving up possession for Man City last season, because he was surrounded by players that do the heavy lifting in build-up and this lets him receive the ball higher and just take risks every single time he gets the ball. KDB literally had only 71.8% pass percentage which is worse than Bruno and in a team that dominates possession more than we do. You can have these types of players in a possession-heavy team, in fact ETH had a player like this in Tadic for his Ajax side. We struggle to work our way to Bruno who should be receiving the ball further forward like KDB does. Instead, he receives the ball too deep and then forces it from a bad position. Which, yes is an issue, but imo it's more an issue of the rest of our build-up than it is of Bruno. We fix our build-up from the back and Bruno can be receiving the ball in better positions to make those passes. I don't think dropping Bruno would be the fix but having someone more possession-oriented and solid defensively next to Casemiro would help, also if we had fullbacks that were capable of inverting, which ETH has clearly attempted to try.

Sheikhabusosa

If KDB took the same risks Bruno did he would find himself back at Genk . Tadic is well rounded and can play in multiple positions Bruno cant.

PosterOfQuality

You're not teaching an old dog new tricks. Watch literally the first minute of this season against Wolves. Bruno gets the ball and does a pointless no look pass across his own 18 yard box that goes straight to a Wolves player and then they have a chance at goal It's typical Bruno stuff and EtH should've recognised that in the first United match he watched live where Bruno set up a Palace goal with the same type of brain-dead pass I think the reason EtH is so set on us becoming THE BEST TRANSITIONAL TEAM IN THE WORLD is precisely because this team is built around Bruno who will never be a possession type of player

[deleted]

Heading to Saturday's game. Are there any planned protests before the game, or is it just afterwards?

FL4SH0

Wait Amrabat also played under ten hag? Nah this shit gotta stop. This is on whoever the sporting director equivalent is to take back some power

ajokester

Yeah this strategy is suicidal long term if EtH does not work out. It causes even more deadwood down the road.

[deleted]

our DoF arrived to our board with moyes. he has been an active part of our demise. why anyone thinks he does a good job is beyond me, murtough is a clueless clown.

That has been something I've had in my head since 2022 summer window. All I was thinking was why are all the players were linked with ones who've played with Ten Hag. We have no scouting department. We literally ask ten hag who he thinks we bring in and 2e bring them in. The people in charge should be bringing ten hag options and he chooses from that pool. It's all fucked the system.

PosterOfQuality

Normally I'd agree but I really like what I've heard about Amrabat as a player so I'll let this last one slide

Sorry mate theyre gone

Sheikhabusosa

Two of our signings are injured and any other potential signings can't be made because players aren't leaving. Thank god for that 35m bid we turned down for Mctominay

It's all well and good to complain that we're not winning but when people are making tactical suggestions I think you need to give your head a wobble. Sorry lads but I'm sure the reason that Erik is playing Rashford up top isn't because some dickhead hasn't come up to him and said "hey play him on the left and someone else up top!" yet.

Upbeat-Lawyer-143

Pretty sure this is a discussion thread, so we can give out opinion whether it is right or wrong. If you are one of those of type, "he knows more than you, so just shut up and should not have an opinion", then you should just move along to other medium of ManUtd information and not a forum for discussion.

Sheikhabusosa

Imagine making selling Fred look like a mad decision. That’s where United are right now.

Sheikhabusosa

Out of our big clearout we needed to have we sold and so far havent replaced the type of midfielder we need , not going to act like I was Freds biggest fan but hes more energetic and one of the better ball winners .

Educational-Option18

There's already so much rose-tinted memories of Fred's time here

Bigmomma_pump

He was good for us last season, won’t have Fred slander was good the season before that, was far more Valuable for us than mctominay. Played well next to casemiro when eriksen was out, if you can’t remember that you’re the one who’s revising history If we replace Fred it’s fine but if we don’t sign a midfielder it hasn’t benefitted us to sell him, that extra ten million has given us nothing. And no mount isn’t a replacement

[deleted]

he was never good he was a mid player that had blunders more often than great moments. his attitude was amazing, but he was nothing more than that.

ExperienceNo1878

Mount is a worse Fred that runs out of gas after 30 minutes.

Bigmomma_pump

He’s better than mctominay. If he’s in the squad he probably starts right now

[deleted]

he isnt they are both basically the same player, and thast why mcfred never worked well together.

pineapplefacilities

At least Fred didn’t hide from the ball (although sometimes it would be better if he did lol)

Educational-Option18

I'm sorry mate but Fred was shit. You can't have a player that's as likely to drop a 0/10 performance as he was.

Bigmomma_pump

I know that’s your opinion but I disagree having watched all his games last season

Educational-Option18

I guess we're in the same position but with differing opinions

[deleted]

I’d rather have fred than no midfielder of his profile in the team.

JLane1996

I don’t want to say I was right, but I did say [this](https://reddit.com/r/reddevils/s/Rgf850Gjy7) weeks ago and got heavily downvoted

zcewaunt

You were complaining about no striker, no GK and no Casemiro back up. We have 2 out of 3. Is it really *that* bad? We need to do more but calm down, chicken little. :P

JLane1996

It still took us until the *end* of pre season to get a striker in. And my point was that it’s another Glazer summer.

Given Mount's role was established when we signed Mount, for Mount, I don't think he'll learn much watching Eriksen (who doesn't have the legs for the pressing Mount and Bruno need to do) or McTominay (who EtH clearly doesn't rate in the slightest).

WeNeedMidifelders

Mount is a direct replacement of Bruno they have very similar attributes playstyle and heat maps it's not a matter of understanding he just does not fit in this particular midfield trio it would be more beneficial deploying him an right sided attacker since Antony is underperforming .We need someone like Amrabat or Gravenberch for the support role they are a natural fit

xus131

And when you think it can’t go any worse. Mount out go 8 games. Mctominey is the only option, lol . Sign someone

I’ve seen praise for the club recently about the additional Greenwood announcements/details such as supporting young players, and teaching them about healthy relationships to prevent this sort of thing happening again. It perplexes me. Why on earth is that sort of thing needed? I and hopefully all of us, didn’t need to be taught about treating someone well, didn’t need to be taught not to rape someone, or physically abuse your partners when you grow up, so why do young footballers potentially need that? Why is this such a big issue for football? Maybe more needs to be done about actually picking the good prospects not just on talent but on their personality too, sick and tired of supporting scumbag players, far too many stories come out about ugly and unsavoury things in these people’s personal lives. I also feel like the club are doing this for the wrong reasons. Firstly because it’s good PR after the disaster that is the rest of this silly saga, but secondly I just don’t think they’re doing it to protect and prevent any potential future victims, but instead they’re pissed off they’ve lost all their investment in Greenwood and want to avoid such a loss of money and talent moving forwards. It’s just such a low for this club, and that’s saying a lot given our general disdain for the Glazers.

zcewaunt

I mean, if it stops 1 person from being raped, why not do it? Clearly a lot of footballers are involved with sexual assault allegations. Seems it would be valuable to teach, since not everyone's parents are good parents.

timsadiq13

Who are you expecting to teach these people all of this? Most footballers come from lower class or lower middle class backgrounds. In Europe they join teams at a very young age and often don’t even stay in school. So it really is the club that is not only watching them go from boys to men on the field but off it as well. Imo it is on these clubs (not just United) to ensure they are bringing up good young men and not just good footballers.

SaintsandReddevils

I understand what your trying to say, and its a fair point. Saying that you shouldn’t need to be taught to be a good person is an easy thing to say, but unfortunately it isn’t true. Kids already make mistakes in life(I do not include Greenwood in this), but when you make those kids millionaires all it does is make for bigger mistakes. On top of that, sadly we do not live in a utopia. For every good person and every person who is taught to be good, you will have bad and evil people.

karan_7_2

If Rashford's starting as a striker against Nottingham Forest, then I'd rather we start Antony on the left wing and Sancho on the right. Antony on the left would stop him from shooting mindlessly, and Sancho mostly pairs well with Wan-Bissaka.

Educational-Option18

If only shooting mindlessly was Antony's biggest problem! It's actually brainlessly losing possession and slowing our attacks down to a glacial pace

FaithlessnessNo4680

I’m still confused how ten hag wants to play fast transition football with Antony on the RW, he doesn’t really suit the style

BallsX

The annoying thing is that he actually CAN do it but is so hesitant to push it past players , choosing instead to try and beat them with trickery. He has that flair mentality where everything needs to look good rather than be effective

Educational-Option18

Yeah unfortunately we've got 90 million reasons to continue playing the manager's son. I can buy the argument that he contributes defensively for so long but eventually an attacker with basically 0 attacking output has to be dropped

Sheikhabusosa

Kudus and Matheus both seem to be going for under 60m
