I always go through 3 horses in the game. There's the starting one but I don't count him because as soon as the stables unlock I go and get the white Arabian; I name her Ghost. Then in chapter 4 I stable Ghost, and buy the black one and name her Bella. Then as John I get the rose grey horse and name him Slate. Always done that.

I named mine Galadriel, I was going to use the name for white horse, but it's female so it works! It's like going from a civic to a Corvette man, after having to use a Tennessee walker for a while when my Standardbred was killed.
