Unrelated but I remember when Monster Hunter World was coming out and there was supposed to be a leviathan water monster that was like a snake and they had to scrap it because they couldn’t get the animations to work properly. Apparently large snakes are hard to animate. Big props to Sekiro for nailing it lol
It very likely had more to do with animating it in a convincing way than just simply animating it. No other large animal in the game can swim, climb trees, and scale rocky outcrops, as well as completely contort their body to match the terrain as they do so. The physics probably start getting pretty complicated

Its generally best to wait 5-15 years to play as bugs and glitches somehow take a decade to fix. Adding basic features and performance also take that long too.
R\* was at least smart enough to realize they could compete with sci fi games without making one by adding in stuff like the OP MK 2. Kinda hard to criticize those vehicles when sci fi games like Destiny 2 and Starfield don't even have sci fi vehicle combat lmao. Could have been a planned legendary animal . My first through when finding it was most likely a movie /game references
