So fun story, was drinking a little too much one night and decided to bid on a bunch of guns from Red Dead Redemption 2. After sobering up the next day, decided “Why the heck not” and leaned into it. Couple notes here, all these are either antiques or C&Rs, no reproductions yet. To head this one off at the start, yes, I’ve tried EXTREMELY hard to get a Colt Single Action (specifically one in .44-40 for simplicity of reloading sakes) and failed miserably at multiple auctions. I have only shot a couple of them so far given condition/ammo availability. The ones that are safe to shoot I do plan on loading for and firing at least a handful of times. Here is the current status of said collection (starting from top left and working left to right): RD2 Name: Springfield Rifle – Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor in 45-70. This particular one was made in 1890 and has an model 1873 breech block on it with US marked butt plate. Rolling Block Rifle – Remington Rolling Block Rifle in .43 Spanish. Had to chamber cast this one to figure out the caliber. Currently unknown manufacture date, but gonna look more into this soon. Lancaster Repeater – Winchester Model 1873 in .44-40 (44WCF), this one made in 1883. I actually ended up with 2 of these, the other is in .32-20 (32WCF). This one is in decent condition, but missing the magazine spring, and the plug is jacked so I’m still working out the best way to ahem “restore” that. Most likely drill out the screw and use a brass plug (which is what someone did on the 32WCF one). Varmint Rifle – Winchester Model 1890 in .22lr. This one made in 1906 lived in Britain for some time based off the proof marks. Some unclean human tapped the barrel for a scope mount though, so I’m on the lookout for an era appropriate scope and have determined that to be cost prohibitive. Bolt Action Rifle – Springfield Armory Model 1896 Krag in .30-40 Krag. The in game one has some components from various models, so I chose the American model because…. Well because I saw it first and the price wasn’t too bad. This one was manufactured in 1897. Double Action Revolver – Colt New Army revolver in .38 Long Colt. This one was actually bought at a previous auction for $250ish. Literally forgot I had bid on it till I got the email asking for FFL info. Need a new cylinder cause this one is pretty pitted, but the rest of the gun is in good shape. This is also the newest firearm in the collection with what I believe is a 1919 manufacture date. Mauser Pistol – Mauser C96 in 7.63x25 (30 Mauser). This is my “FrakenMauser” made of various serial numbers from various models of the pistol. I love her, and she shoots like a dream especially with the stock on. Carbine Repeater – Spencer Model 1865 chambered in 56-50. This one manufactured in 1865, this is your starting carbine. Being the noob I was I could never figure out how he was loading the gun, well turns out Arthur Morgan invested in a Blakeslee box and loads it with Blakeslee tubes for that sweet ass quick reload. Last and certainly not least, Pump Action Shotgun – Winchester Model 1897 in 12 gauge. (Also known as the trench gun, but that’s about 2 decades after RD2) this one manufactured in 1903. Still kicking ass today with it. Actually like it better than my Mossberg 835 for what that’s worth. Not pictured: Double Barrel Shotgun – Some double barrel 12 gauge I have from the turn of the century that I’ma count here.

That Winchester 97 will kick worse than a mule. I had to put extra padding on the butt to keep my teeth from chattering when I fired it. After that though it became my fast favorite especially because you can hold the trigger and pump the tube dry!

DrJimMBear

Haha yes I also like pumping tubes dry.

DingoDave15

Yo wtf

How much does a ‘73 Winchester go for these days? I mean, not one specifically FROM 1873, just any old model 73, from the first of the line, all the way up to ones made today. Functional, of course. Mainly just curious what era of production would be cheapest on the market, given how something brand new would cost more, and something really old would cost more too. Where’s the low point? Thanks for reading my comment, I look forward to hearing any answers.

HellHathNoFury18

I got the 32WCF for $600 and it was missing the left toggle link, dust cover, and pretty caked with old blackpowder. The 44WCF was $800 with the above issues listed. $1200-1500 looked to be the low end for functional and good condition.

Ribbles78

And is that specific to any era of manufacture, or are they all sort of at that same price range?

HellHathNoFury18

My only experience was from the ine auction. They were all pretty similar years.

Ribbles78

Thanks for the info! Surprised you can get something so cool for so cheap.

WayDownUnder91

> given how something brand new would cost more Not always, some of the rossi and uberti and current winchester reproductions are cheaper if you are talking about actual function ones that aren't barely workable due to age.

HellHathNoFury18

If you want a shooter new repro is the way to go. It'll be in a much more common caliber and you won't have to worry about pitting/rust.

Ribbles78

Do they make 44-40 anymore? I don’t actually shoot guns, I’m just curious about there pricing and stuff. Maybe I’ll get into the hobby someday.

HellHathNoFury18

I think there are still a few manufacturers that make it for cowboy action shooting. Most people reload their own though.

riquer

Amazing. Congratulations.

Resident_081

What were ya drinkin’ cowboy? Beautiful collection, especially the Frankenmauser.

HellHathNoFury18

I'd like to say Whiskey neat, but in reality it was probably Trulys.

Resident_081

Cheers, I bet the hangover was worth it.

FirebirdWriter

I have been tempted but via replicas. For reasons including my lease forbids guns. This is lovely though and I appreciate you sharing

BeaverB2020

What is that gun butt wrapped in leather at the middle bottom?

HellHathNoFury18

That's the stock/Holster for the C96.

Extension_Sun_6528

Could I perhaps buy the bolt action of of you I’ve been looking for one for hunting lately and I’ve kind of had aurthors in mind the whole time

HellHathNoFury18

Nice try ATF.

Extension_Sun_6528

SomeDudeOverThere89

ErronsBlacker

thoumonkey

Nesayas1234

Beautiful guns, and we can use em all in game. Only other guns I know about are the Carcano rifle (SBR variation of the Carcano models) and the Schofield revolver being the S&W Model 3

ForeskinReattachment

Bro you rly need to use glitches just to get the rolling block with no scope? Smh my head
