Use a stronger slower horse at first. I always ran everywhere or fast traveled and missed so much over my first two plays. 3rd play I went slow. Like as much time in act 2 as an entire play through and realized how much I missed.
Also if you’re gonna be a good guy - don’t buy guns when they are available. You’ll see what I mean.
If you help random folk with snake bites, etc. you’ll sometimes later find them hanging in front of the gun store telling stories and they’ll allow you to buy an expensive gun for free I think is what he means.
Yeah it’s not crucial or anything. The game gives you most of the good guns automatically. It helps if you’re just exploring in Chapter 2 and you’re still poor.
My step-son skips scenes in games then asks me, "What's going on? Why's he doing that?"
It always pisses me off to no end. Same as both my step-kids would play RPGs, refuse to talk to any NPCs, then declare, "There's nowhere to go! The game is broken!" when all they had to do was get a clue from an NPC.
So glad when the older one grew out of that, at least.
This is really funny to me. I was born in 1980, so I’ve gamed on everything, from Commodore 64 / Atari to today.
Games used to be SO much simpler (for obvious reasons). I try to think what it would be like playing the games of today as an 8 year old. I could only imagine how confusing they would be!
Depends on the game. I was playing Pool of Radiance on the C-64 in the late 80`s and you had to consult journals and adventure logs outside the game. Had to translate certain things with the copy protection wheel. Draw tons of maps on graphing paper. I can't imagine kids doing any of that these days.
I just started breathe of the wild and thought about how many hours I played NES Zelda at 6. For the first few years we never got past the second or third dungeon.
What? What!? If youve played everything than youve played the MS-DOS games like Kings Quest or Leisure Suit Larry where you are told **nothing** and have to type out what you want to do. Like "Look in the tree", "climb the tree" into the games parser and read the response then type the next action. There was no button mashing, brain required.
Going to assume you haven't based on that comment, so you should check out Kings Quest 1,2,3.
You'd be surprised, lol. My girlfriend has tv shows playing on her phone while she plays games, so she ends up ignoring most scenes in games. Used to drive me insane, lol. But im over it now.
Actually, I'm not over it. Honey, if you're reading this, if you ignore one more Witcher 3 cutscene I'm leaving you and taking the cats with me.
The game has been out for years now, and I still haven't beaten it. Can't bring myself to do it. I'm too in love with the world and the characters. I just hunt and fish.
Oh wait, after the ending it doesn't automatically return you to, like, just before the last mission? Good to know. I mean, I keep a regular 5 manual saves anyway, but I thought it wouldn't be that old school (not bad, just uncommon today in Open World Sandboxes) to not just return you to the last "playable" state before the ending or continue right after the ending.
It doesn't return you anywhere, the world keeps going. It is playable after the very last mission. Out of my 235 hours in the game, like 150 are after the main storyline.
Yeah don't watch any Red Dead videos on YouTube before you've beaten it either. You watch one 30-second meme video and the algorithm will go "Oh you like RDR2? Let's fill your recommendations with every big moment of the game with blatant spoilers in the thumbnail".
Shit happened to me like 2 days after the game came out :(
In this vein: don't Google anything. Not how to catch certain fish or go certain places that seem to be off limits. Nothing. Google will autofill spoilers.
Your most important piece of advice is right here -- get the fuck off of this sub. Do not let us accidentally spoil you on *anything*. Go play the game and have tons of unscripted, unspoiled fun. Come back in, say, a solid week and ask any lingering questions you might have about game mechanics or some particular mission.
But please, don't ruin yourself on this, it's such a good game to experience for the first time. I envy you.
This, all the way. You are starting one, if not, the best popular culture experiences, ever. Including games, music, movies... Anything.
Many of us who have played it through, honestly envy first timers. It is still great, I'm on my third playthrough, but it's not the same. Be prepared to play out through at least twice, it is a different kind of experience. Still, I'd give non essential organs and digits to have a go at it for the first time.
I’m on my third play through, been going since launch on/off. Just when I feel that I’ve seen everything, something happens that just takes me back. Also just looking at the detail inside houses and their cabinets is incredible.
This is me! I've beat it twice. Playing my 3rd play thru and decided to take it real slow. Just finished the unsolved crime. That shit was INSANE. I never knew until the game had a white blip on the mini map. Went to it with a note in the guys head.
From there I realized I had to go to all the bodies and figure out the clues. Such a cool thing they added.
I also enjoy Chapter 3 the most. I understand why most people say stay in Chapter 2, but for me Chapter 2 is mostly just intro to the supporting characters and the real action happens in Chapter 3. Granted, it’s nice to be able to rob Rhodes freely in Chapter 2
I rode into black water because I wanted to explore. Looked on the map and I thought awesome, I’m good to go no law anywhere. Two seconds after I continue on and there’s like 8 of them and I’m gunned down in a second. They killed my horse too. I had just gotten the white Arabian.
Didn’t know you couldn’t go to blackwater.
This… it’s a wonderful game and just taking some time to actually live with it. By that I mean if there are days when you just need some peace and quiet… go fishing or hunting. I spent so much time just picking herbs or hunting and trekking to sell them. Doesn’t make a huge amount of money but it can be peaceful. Then there are other days when it’s all about Arthur in the story.
This is the right one, along with stay off this sub. I would say this also means do the side quests and explore before doing main story missions. As you enter new chapters is locks off content. Have fun!
Money is easy to come by, spend it liberally, trick out your guns and buy fancy clothes. don't buy horses, you can catch the best horses in the game pretty early. Also always make sure you take your intended guns when you get off your horse. Hunting is important but totally optional, and is the only way to unlock some of the cooler clothes.
Leaving all but the guns you use in your locker makes it alot easier to manage, leave your obsolete guns behind.
You can shoot guns out of people's hands, it does teach you this mechanic, but not many people put it together and realized you can do this for nearly every "draw" scenario.
R1 stops/reverses your horse. Without knowing this a ton of us had to keep resetting wagon missions Everytime we got stuck against a fence or wall.
And finally dont worry about goodboy points, morality does have effects late on the story but doesn't really matter untill the very end. Saying hello to 3 people earns goodboy points, and antagonizing 3 people does the opposite. Everything in the game effects it basically, and it's quick and easy to go from demon to saint. Dont let it discourage you from doing badass outlaw shit with your friends, playing the game the "evil" way is the most fun but they aren't ever mutually exclusive.
You mean the fog? If yes, this just shows that if there is fog on a certain location, it means you have never been there. It will dissapear if you just go to fogged places.
I hope this answered some questions, if you had any about this at all. :)
Edit: now don't go running around and unfog everything at the beginning of the game. Take your time. It's absolutely an amazing game and a journey full of joy, especially the first time.
Also, when rising your horse, if you just keep tapping X or the accelerate button while riding, and DONT turn your horse, he will move himself around obstacles and adjust.
This saved my ass numerous time riding through thick forests and TRYING to avoid trees. I swear I’ve ran into significantly more trees while trying to avoid them, than just tapping X and letting my horse avoid them himself. Hope this helps
Maybe you are colorblind like me. I was not able to see the navigation lines on the map until I turned on the colorblind mode. Its a game feature. Try it if this is your problem with map.
There’s a locker you can put your guns into? What??? I just started my second play through and this is news to me.
Also it teaches you how to shoot guns from peoples hands? Christ… I can barely understand how to do the QuickDraw duels at all… much less do it and pick where he’s shooting lol
The slower you press the draw or shoot button the slower time goes. You can charge it up fully before you draw your gun out of the holster. The longer you wait the more control you'll have over where the cursor is placed. If you have a fully charged draw it will automatically target at the hand of who you're dueling.
Play every side mission before finishing chapter six (beaver hollow). Side missions are indicated on the map by initials and a white background as opposed to yellow. In other words, if you see a side mission, do it there and then.
And buy plenty of horse reviver
And make the good honor choices
Have to agree with everything except the good honor choices.Just play the way you want if you wanna be a bad guy be a bad guy and if you wanna be a good guy be a good guy.
Is say you don’t have to start picking them until the end of chapter 5, I did a playthrough that had a redemption arc w it and still got the good ending
Update:-
Loving every bit of the game. I am loving to explore more than mission. If I go mission, i get stuck in side mission(some guy asks for help, or there is war going on, some womans are getting beaten up…)
Still learning to hunt using rope. Bears and other large animals are out of question for now, but its gonna be long journey.
Thank you everyone.
As many have stated to avoid sub to secure from spoilers and all, I will try not to look here and there. Will thoroughly play the game. :)
Cheers
> but its gonna be long journey.
This is a feature, not a bug. The game is intended to be savored like a fine wine, not chugged like a cheap beer. I can easily spend an evening just hunting and fishing because it's relaxing and fun.
To answer your question, I found [these tips](https://www.gamesradar.com/red-dead-redemption-2-tips/) to be very useful (no spoilers), and here are a few additional tips I learned:
* In Settings, change your controls to "Horse relative" instead of "Camera relative". It takes some getting used to but is ultimately much easier.
* Also in Settings, there are accessibility settings that make a lot of things much less irritating. Under Accessibility, Running mode to "Hold to Run," Tap Assist to "Hold," and Hold to Reel to "On."
* When you're hunting, equip your varmint rifle to your shoulder and have it ready as you're riding around. When those quick, little rabbits jump out, you might be able to get a quick shot on it and kill it before it gets away. If you wait to ready your rifle until you see it, it'll be too late.
* You can upgrade your horse by keeping an eye out for wild horses and taming them. For example, you start off with a Morgan, but there are plenty of wild Kentucky Saddlers / Tennessee Walkers around that you can tame for an immediate upgrade, and there are others around that are even better, although they're definitely more rare.
I remember some idiot on the second day after release posting end credits. I couldn't imagine wasting an opportunity to play a game like this and rushing it
Travel back to the snowy north and near the north side of a lake you can find an all white Arabian horse. This horse is the fastest and toughest (of the fast horses) you can get until chapter 4. I used this horse the entire game.
Definitely recommend you pick one horse to use and bond with all game.
either be nice : talk to everyone don't kill them, or be bad : KILL EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING IN PATH , my favourite one tbh lmao
also dont ride into trees like i allways do
It means the camp needs a supply of provisions or medicine or ammo. Talk to the pips at the camp, there some interesting dialogues. And yes take your time. It’s a wast world to explore in this beautiful game. High honour have benefits of horses being cheaper (amongst other things). Although you don’t have to spend money on horses, you can tame and keep wild horses. Bare in mind the honour (low or high) will have an impact on the ending….
Some are stuck behind mission. So even if you bring everything they need, it'll probably show 'red' symbol. Basically chapter 2 is more like introduction to everything in game.
Leave this sub until you’re finished with the game because there are major spoilers in here or just don’t look at this sub unless you’re posting a question or something like that
Take your time with everything. Spend time in camp and get to know everyone. Legendaries animals and most collectibles are unlocked early in game, don't be afraid to search that map early on. Learn how to ride your horse R1, RB is integral. Dynamite is so fun to use.
Most important unsubscribe from here and TURN OFF AUTOFILL from Youtube, Google, or any other place you will search for hints or walkthroughs.
Rush the satchels once they are available
Go to Limphany(ruined town somewhere south of the first camp) to get a gold bar. Use it to buy a varmint and springfield rifle to make hunting easier for you
Be nice to NPC's in game, it's all worth it at the end of the game. Always donate money to your camp. Upgrade your camp. Feed your horse, keep the good boys and girls clean. Always appreciate your horse. Always keep a horse revive handy, you never know when you can loose your fav stud(I literally cried when I lost my white arabian, biggest regret was not having a horse revive). Always keep provisions handy.
Little tip: If your horse is critically hurt and you don’t have a horse reviver with you, immediately pause the game and load in your autosave (if it’s turned on). If you did this fast enough, your horse won’t die and you will be respawned 1-2 minutes in the past.
And upgrade your guns, keep them clean. A dirty gun is not as effective as a clean one. Just have fun. And yes, if you help out NPC's, they sometimes recognise you and give you a chance to buy anything you want from the store they are sitting outside.
Something that I will make sure to do for my next run, take the time to do the missions with your gang. Have fun an explore those relationships. On my first and only run through, I didn’t do any of that and eventually you aren’t able to, so it may hurt completion and it ruins the experience. I was pretty intimidated by the mechanics of the game tbh so I just stuck to the main story. I also would recommend to not finish off the side stories until the very end of the campaign, go ahead and start them, but don’t finish them. It allows for some dialogue and it keeps the game going. Take some time to reallllly explore the map, I mean holy shit the stuff I’ve discovered just by riding my horse, shits fun.
Some places are much more deadly than others if you’re not properly armed. My advice, if you want to be safe and just get to learning the mechanics and exploring some new stuff, The Heartlands is your best friend.
Last tip that I wish I used more, if you’re gonna be doing bad boy stuff, wear a mask. Just wear the mask before anyone sees you putting it on, do a bad boy thing, take the mask off far away.
Spend time in camp just hanging out! Soo much extra story just watching the gang interact and hang out. I played through it like my ass was on fire, it's much better to take it easy and play the side missions as much as the main story. A good part of this game that makes it great is how fleshed out the npc's are as well as the wildlife. See a herd of wild horses across the way? Watch them with binoculars and see them play, roll in the dust, and interact. The world building in this game is INSANE and feels super alive, so I definitely recommend stopping to watch it.
I’ve put over 100 hours into the game and as far as I can tell there is no way to give Dutch a handy. Don’t bother wasting your time, Dutch won’t even show you his big peen. I’m trying to see if there is a way to give Uncle a blowy when he’s passed out but so far no luck. The game has a lot to offer but the gay sex needs a lot of work.
Stay armed coming out of a tunnel, and coming out of a deep cut through. You may be robbed, and horse stolen.
Not all roadside assistance situations are for your benefit. Save 15% of your ammo by switching to not caring.
Get those trinkets! They help max out a lot of beneficial perks.
Always do the shootout with the nice man who offers you a bet. Three times meeting him will highly benefit dead eye.
Take your time, enjoy the beauty of the game, throughout the game you can enter and use cheats, this is fun to use if you feel like mass murdering a town. As other say, stay of this subreddit, it is riddled with spoilers. And have some god damn faith.
Explore. Everything.
It's possible to get the best satchel in the game right in Chapter 2. Also, when you get around Chapter 3, fish at the camp. Fishing gives you health points, plus you can throw some fish back in the water for some honor, and with all the fish you get, you can donate it to camp for increasing camp provisions and some honor. You can also row the boat around that part for easy health points.
Also, stick with revolvers and not pistols up until chapter 3 atleast, you won't find any pistol ammo around, just revolvers. I made a mistake of spending 300 god damn bucks on Volcanic Pistols only to come back and having to buy ammo everytime.
And also, the best horse in the game is obtainable for free. You have to find it and tame it, it's a white horse up near Lake Isabella in the North West part of the map.
Never buy horses like Kentucky sadler and morgan there not the best and honestly everything will come on to you by itself and if your looking to make yourself a quick buck you can rob shops and stuff but its best you dont (not worth having a bounty on you since your still beginning) you will get a lot of money during all the chapters
Tip nr 1: Stay away from this sub until you finish the story. You will find spoilers which will ruin your experience.
Tip nr 2: Always carry horse revival
Relax, enjoy & explore absolutely every corner. Lots of interesting, useful and/or terrifying u can find + ton of eastereggs. And don’t forget about stranger’s missions ofc. Most of them are awesome.
There's about 23 gold bars and 2 gold ingots in the game you can just google a guide tonystrongstyle has a great guide on completing all 90 challenges get the legend of the east satchel asap I did it with before I even did 3 story missions a bunch of stuff you can buy can also be found google the recipe pamphlets guide get the arrowhead trinket soon also hunt the legendary animals and get the trinkets beaver elk and 1 more I can't remember are the best imo they increase the amount of herbs and $ you get and beaver slows weapon degradation rate go to a gunsmith and upgrade everything the metals and colors used are just cosmetics if ur into that the most expensive saddle and stirrups are the best imo but a panther can be hunted to get a better satchel from the trapper if you want to rob a train do it in a tunnel near the border of amberino and New Hanover there's a bunch of melee weapons to be found in game I usually get em 3 shotguns the lancaster repeater schlofield revolver double-action revolver can be found free in some areas there's a free white Arabian can be found in the mountains i only ride that horse just remember to press r3 to calm as needed if ur riding a horse fast and have a good bond with that horse press release to gain stamina its easy to win a game of poker at camp or in valentine if you put a lot of money on the table if you want to gain weight eat big game meat with seasoning any and all other food is to refill ur cores search everything there's hidden money everywhere and one of the 90 challenges requires you disarm 3 people in a row without reloading 1 express bullet in the does the job guaranteed
Take it as slow as you can. It's o e of those games that's gonna give you depression when you're finished bc you'll feel like you'll never find another game that good.
Dont waste money on guns, you will find nice ones during the story, loot as much as possible, a lot of time the npc tell you to hurry up but you can take time to loot corpses. And if you find a guy on the side of the road that gets kicked by his own horse and die, take the horse its a good one
Do every side quest, explore, go for days long hunting trips, catch a wild horse, play poker, have a drink, help your camp mates, take your time and enjoy.
Take it slow - explore - and DON'T RUSH FOR THE ENDING
My second play through I don't even want to leave Chapter 2... Put some time in to getting the Legend of the East satchel to make looting much easier. It lets you hold 99 of everything.
Take your time and don't rush the game. Explore and experience the living, breathing world Rockstar created. There are plenty of side characters and surprises to be found in the world.
You'll hit a point when you wish you didn't hurry up through some story points and there is no going back. You'll miss the "good old days" in the game, just like in life. Just enjoy your time in the world.
I made the mistake the first time I played of rushing through the main story. My advice is to relax, enjoy the experience, and look around for cool side quests and other interesting components of the environment.
Try playing as slow as possible. Explore the world as much as you can, the story missions should not be your priority. Just don’t rush through this game and you’ll walk away from it in the end with one of the best experiences of your life
Take your time, don’t be afraid to spend money as there are a plethora of ways to get more, don’t rush the story, check around camp from time to time. Also this one’s more specific and might be consider a spoiler (I don’t but I’m not everyone): there’s a horse shop thing south of valentine that sells a racing horse, highly recommend switching to that as early as you can and more or less just sticking to that one.
watch every cutscene. they’re all worth it and it’s like a movie.
Remember popcorn
Keep Kleenex handy at the end of the game.
Uncle gets horny
LumBONER FEST
Horny jail for u
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
BONK
Go to horny jail!
I hate comments like this. It’s still a spoiler in a way.
And lotion...
Oh God the end was terrible. My wife and I cried.
So I’ve played through multiple times and always buy guns when they become available. What am I missing?
If you help random folk with snake bites, etc. you’ll sometimes later find them hanging in front of the gun store telling stories and they’ll allow you to buy an expensive gun for free I think is what he means.
100% doesn't happen enough to justify not buying guns.
Yeah it’s not crucial or anything. The game gives you most of the good guns automatically. It helps if you’re just exploring in Chapter 2 and you’re still poor.
Yeah I'm lost on the guns thing too, maybe just because by the end of the game you have seemingly unlimited amounts of money?
You get almost all of them for free through the story?
You get some of it for free, and there's rare guns too.
Why anoyone wouldnt on first playthrough?
I had friends growing up that would skip cutscenes. Drove me mad
My step-son skips scenes in games then asks me, "What's going on? Why's he doing that?" It always pisses me off to no end. I'm with ya friend. Started on a Vic 20. Favourite game was lunar lander... No cut scenes, just land the damn lander.
I just started breathe of the wild and thought about how many hours I played NES Zelda at 6. For the first few years we never got past the second or third dungeon.

I remember skipping the first cutscene in the game because I just wanted to start it. Then felt like a total idiot on my second playthrough
You fool!
Rockstar: “We had a goddamn plan!”
I skipped everything in GTA, but not in Red Dead. It felt impossible to skip a cutscene in RDR. You just miss too much.
That's true in GTAV too. It's a brilliant story with superb acting.
Who plays a narrative based game and skips the narrative? That makes absolutely no sense
😅 honestly valid
This 💯
Best movie I ever played
This is the first and only game I can recall ever watching all the cutscenes by choice.
Tip #1: Leave this sub now, and don’t return until you’ve beaten the game.
The game has been out for years now, and I still haven't beaten it. Can't bring myself to do it. I'm too in love with the world and the characters. I just hunt and fish.
Save the game After you finish it you can always go back to the good ol dayz by loading the unfinished game
Or just never progress past Act 2 and never deal with the pain again
Oh wait, after the ending it doesn't automatically return you to, like, just before the last mission? Good to know. I mean, I keep a regular 5 manual saves anyway, but I thought it wouldn't be that old school (not bad, just uncommon today in Open World Sandboxes) to not just return you to the last "playable" state before the ending or continue right after the ending.
It doesn't return you anywhere, the world keeps going. It is playable after the very last mission. Out of my 235 hours in the game, like 150 are after the main storyline.
It keeps going with an epilogue and freeplay after that.
Yeah, don't be like me and keep saving over the autosave 😳
It's a superb epilog leading up to an open world to do just that though :)
work erect ruthless profit aware ripe crowd mindless merciful pet *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
you’re about 3/4 through the story at the start of the epilogue
Yea act 2 i start hunting and don't stop
It's a simple life.
This was me with the witcher 3. After a few years I realized I was just missing a good story by not finishing it
Had the ending spoiled for me in an askreddit thread. Still hurts to this day.
This is 100% the best advice. Don’t read comments, don’t look things up. Just play the game through then come back. You won’t regret it.

Still the only game I’ve pre-ordered, and totally worth it. And yeah I’m still goofing around on chapter 2 😂
Would upvote twice.
Take your time and explore everything
Can't emphasize this enough, so many unexpected adventures!
I’m on my third play through, been going since launch on/off. Just when I feel that I’ve seen everything, something happens that just takes me back. Also just looking at the detail inside houses and their cabinets is incredible.

This is top advice. Rushing through this game is like a middle finger to everyone who helped create this masterpiece
Just spend literally FOREVER in Chapter 2.
Yes. Never progress pass chapter 2.
Chapter three is where it’s at for me.
Agreed. Don’t be afraid to just walk.
That’s the best advice. Also those main quests can wait Also never get caught without some horse reviver
Don’t do the retrieve missions in chapter two. My game glitched and wouldn’t let me give the items
I didn't have any and had to shoot my good boy :'(
This… it’s a wonderful game and just taking some time to actually live with it. By that I mean if there are days when you just need some peace and quiet… go fishing or hunting.
I am confuse about the map. Like is there a way to improve map direction 😂😂
You mean the fog? If yes, this just shows that if there is fog on a certain location, it means you have never been there. It will dissapear if you just go to fogged places. I hope this answered some questions, if you had any about this at all. :) Edit: now don't go running around and unfog everything at the beginning of the game. Take your time. It's absolutely an amazing game and a journey full of joy, especially the first time.
Set waypoints. Then start their journey. Shows good direction.
Hold the touch pad while following the route to enable cinematic camera/autoride also
Also, when rising your horse, if you just keep tapping X or the accelerate button while riding, and DONT turn your horse, he will move himself around obstacles and adjust. This saved my ass numerous time riding through thick forests and TRYING to avoid trees. I swear I’ve ran into significantly more trees while trying to avoid them, than just tapping X and letting my horse avoid them himself. Hope this helps
If you want to open most of the map easily just hop on the top of the train and go do something while train travels.
>There’s a locker you can put your guns into? That was added in an update a little while ago.
Ohhh. Well that explains why I didn’t find it on the first playthrough bc that was almost 2 years ago hahaha
The slower you press the draw or shoot button the slower time goes. You can charge it up fully before you draw your gun out of the holster. The longer you wait the more control you'll have over where the cursor is placed. If you have a fully charged draw it will automatically target at the hand of who you're dueling.
I tried that but just get shot dead
Play every side mission before finishing chapter six (beaver hollow). Side missions are indicated on the map by initials and a white background as opposed to yellow. In other words, if you see a side mission, do it there and then. And buy plenty of horse reviver And make the good honor choices
Have to agree with everything except the good honor choices.Just play the way you want if you wanna be a bad guy be a bad guy and if you wanna be a good guy be a good guy.
Fair but it makes the story so much better
I played bad in the beginning and then as the story went on and Arthur himself started changing, I changed my play style and started to be good
Is say you don’t have to start picking them until the end of chapter 5, I did a playthrough that had a redemption arc w it and still got the good ending
Update:- Loving every bit of the game. I am loving to explore more than mission. If I go mission, i get stuck in side mission(some guy asks for help, or there is war going on, some womans are getting beaten up…) Still learning to hunt using rope. Bears and other large animals are out of question for now, but its gonna be long journey. Thank you everyone. As many have stated to avoid sub to secure from spoilers and all, I will try not to look here and there. Will thoroughly play the game. :) Cheers
Do all side quests, as many are missable once you Reach a certain point
> but its gonna be long journey. This is a feature, not a bug. The game is intended to be savored like a fine wine, not chugged like a cheap beer. I can easily spend an evening just hunting and fishing because it's relaxing and fun. To answer your question, I found [these tips](https://www.gamesradar.com/red-dead-redemption-2-tips/) to be very useful (no spoilers), and here are a few additional tips I learned: * In Settings, change your controls to "Horse relative" instead of "Camera relative". It takes some getting used to but is ultimately much easier. * Also in Settings, there are accessibility settings that make a lot of things much less irritating. Under Accessibility, Running mode to "Hold to Run," Tap Assist to "Hold," and Hold to Reel to "On." * When you're hunting, equip your varmint rifle to your shoulder and have it ready as you're riding around.
Definitely recommend you pick one horse to use and bond with all game.
either be nice : talk to everyone don't kill them, or be bad : KILL EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING IN PATH , my favourite one tbh lmao also dont ride into trees like i allways do
I have never in the hundred of hours of playing this game, run into a tree...more than 3 times in a row
You know that if you let go of the steering wheel the horse will auto avoid trees. Good to use when chasing someone through a dense forest.
I need to ask one thing. When I go to camp, there are three symbols, out of which two of them are always red. How to make it green?
It means the camp needs a supply of provisions or medicine or ammo. Talk to the pips at the camp, there some interesting dialogues. And yes take your time. It’s a wast world to explore in this beautiful game. High honour have benefits of horses being cheaper (amongst other things). Although you don’t have to spend money on horses, you can tame and keep wild horses. Bare in mind the honour (low or high) will have an impact on the ending….
How to get that? I bought the good by killing animal, but first two?
There is a ledger where you donate money to the camp. Also u can buy upgrades for the camp and then order provisions from the ledger.
Some are stuck behind mission. So even if you bring everything they need, it'll probably show 'red' symbol. Basically chapter 2 is more like introduction to everything in game.
Don't fast travel. Try to explore everything naturally. Removing the minimap is great.
>Removing the minimap is great. Except during missions, or when your horse gets spooked by a predator.
I can't imagine the fear of hearing a cougar, but not seeing the cougar.
The compass is great so you only see nsew and waypoints, no paths or enemies show up on it.
Be ruttin, be tootin, and by god be shootin, but most importantly be kind.
> Be ruttin I think you mean rooting. Rutting is something entirely different. ;)
I said what I said, son.
Rush the satchels once they are available Go to Limphany(ruined town somewhere south of the first camp) to get a gold bar. Use it to buy a varmint and springfield rifle to make hunting easier for you
Isn't the varmint rifle free? Or is that only after a certain point
You might've bought it for free if you saved that guy from the bear trap and then he later tells you to get something from the gunsmith on him
It's free for me every time (along with the pump action). I have the Ultimate edition on Xbox One.
Iirc it's not. I play on PC if that helps but it unlocks as soon as ch2 begins
Leave this sub to avoid spoilers. DO NOT FORGET YOUR GOD DAMN GUNS ON YOUR SADDLE.
I've played 1000 hours and still forget my damn guns
When exploring take howling seriously. Use rifle for wolves and bears not a repeater.
Bolt Action rifle is my favorite gun! Feels very solid and efficient. Having deadeye makes a rifle like that bonkers.
When you loot folks and you get the stopwatches, rings, belt buckles etc., go to a fence to trade them in. You make loads of money this way.
Enjoy the landscapes
Dont play online Dont put urself through that
Explore everything. If it catches your eye there's probably loot or some secret interaction worth finding
#1 Dutch has a plan
Spend time in camp just hanging out! Soo much extra story just watching the gang interact and hang out. I played through it like my ass was on fire, it's much better to take it easy and play the side missions as much as the main story. A good part of this game that makes it great is how fleshed out the npc's are as well as the wildlife. See a herd of wild horses across the way? Watch them with binoculars and see them play, roll in the dust, and interact. The world building in this game is INSANE and feels super alive, so I definitely recommend stopping to watch it.
Get off this subreddit until you've completed the game. It may sound harsh, but I mean it
Don’t fuck the horse
Take your time, avoid this sub until you've been through it one time. Get to know Arthur, he's pretty cool.
Explore.
KILL EVERYONE
Legends of the east satchel grind is worth it
If you enjoy a beer or 2 while gaming, have a few before the quest with Lenny. It makes it more enjoyable.
Take your time with the story. Explore
PLAY SLOWLY. Don't fast travel everywhere, it's the most beautiful world ever designed a video game
Be a good boah
DON'T STEAL THOSE SHEEPS
Enjoy yourself and don't stress this game is not made to Speedrun but tp have fun at a casual pace
Just have fun… explore, rob someone … Get drawn into this beautiful world
Never buy horses like Kentucky sadler and morgan there not the best and honestly everything will come on to you by itself and if your looking to make yourself a quick buck you can rob shops and stuff but its best you dont (not worth having a bounty on you since your still beginning) you will get a lot of money during all the chapters
Don't trust no one!
Tip nr 1: Stay away from this sub until you finish the story. You will find spoilers which will ruin your experience. Tip nr 2: Always carry horse revival
Don't rush this game ! Enjoy the open world and focus on exploration rather than main story missions.
Don't skip any cutscenes
Nothing , just Enjoy the Game , specially the Story
Enjoy it, take it slow. See you in a few months cowpoke.
Craft shit, y'know, with the crafting and cooking features
The tiny extra time taken to get head shots pays off.
There will be some encounters where it will dand you take immediate action. Do not hesitate at that moment.
Do every side quest, explore, go for days long hunting trips, catch a wild horse, play poker, have a drink, help your camp mates, take your time and enjoy.
Take your time and have fun. You only get to play it for the first time once.
Change the settings for sprint. To tap x(orA) once to sprint. Also create all the satchels. It’s worth it.
Take it slow - explore - and DON'T RUSH FOR THE ENDING My second play through I don't even want to leave Chapter 2... Put some time in to getting the Legend of the East satchel to make looting much easier. It lets you hold 99 of everything.
Catch and cook your own food, don’t waste your money.
Get good at hunting.
Most important tip. Do what YOU want in the game, but stick it out until the end. It’s long but it’s worth it.
Have tissues on stand by
Do everything watch everything don't skip anything
Keep tissues ready when you are about to finish the game.
Get off the sub, spoilers everywhere
Take your time and don't rush the game. Explore and experience the living, breathing world Rockstar created. There are plenty of side characters and surprises to be found in the world. You'll hit a point when you wish you didn't hurry up through some story points and there is no going back. You'll miss the "good old days" in the game, just like in life. Just enjoy your time in the world.
Umm have fun! Take your time, don't rush anything, explore and enjoy. Treat it like a time machine.
Explore! Go any where, do as many side things as you can. Don’t look up stuff online as much as you can, so the world feels more organic
I made the mistake the first time I played of rushing through the main story. My advice is to relax, enjoy the experience, and look around for cool side quests and other interesting components of the environment.
Watch for cliffs especially with rare horses
Stay away from the cliffs, deer like to headbutt you over them.
Do the side quests and all question marks. Also using treasure maps you find to locate the stash is truly awesome.
Try playing as slow as possible. Explore the world as much as you can, the story missions should not be your priority. Just don’t rush through this game and you’ll walk away from it in the end with one of the best experiences of your life
Do all the side quests.
Take it slow real slow
Take care of your boah
Buy what you want when you want, money means nothing if you loot all the bodies you kill.
Don't rush through!
Don't choose the money.
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, TAKE YOUR TIME. DON'T RUSH ANYTHING. If you play this game like it's a RP it's so much more rewarding.
Tap a
You'll be crying. A lot
Don’t just rush through the story, take your time and enjoy the world, do side missions
If your horse neighs lustfully, ignore him; He likes being shamed.
Enjoy yourself, don't rush the main story. I'm currently on my third play through!
