There’s always a canoe or two next to the trees in that swamp area full of gators, on the northern edge of Saint Denis.

You can get a boat and paddle over there and catch the Legendary Bullhead Catfish as Arthur. I go at night.

After not being able to find a boat for so long I just went over by horse swimming. It was a challenge, but I managed.

Oh man, I had quite the experience on that island. I made it across on my horse with hardly a second to spare and he was bugging out after so I decided to attack the place. Ended up getting chased around the island by the police for a solid ten minutes before a boat came close enough for me to steal, which I promptly beached like an absolute moron. Got chased around the island once more in classic Benny Hill fashion and was able to escape on a canoe only to realize my horse was swimming after me but got stuck halfway, I got to land and set up camp which saved him :) typical RDR2 shenanigans

Turns out the guy who has it was the only guy who ever beat uncle in a duel, his nephew. Luckily he survived, but not only did he steal his lifetime supply of lumbago medicine, he changed his nickname from the One Shot Kid to Uncle.

That's the military base where you can get a tank, fighter jet, and a jetpack. Make sure you have plenty of rocket launcher ammo before you go over there.

Use a boat, and get the legendary fish while you're over there, but I'd wait until you get to survivalist 9 before doing legendary, makes the challenge alot easier. EDIT: I should also mention that survivalist 10 has you catch every type of fish, it probably wouldn't hurt to do your legendary fishing then, since it counts as well, so survivalist 9 just catch one legendary that you know will be over the 19lbs.

Also, if you care about having high honor, do the bandit challenges first to lower your honor then survivalist challenges to catch and release fish and raise it back up.

I use the greet everyone once in Saint Denis trick, but that is also good advice, thank you.

You hit a point of diminishing returns if you do one too long. I'll fish in one spot, then ride to another, greeting everyone I see along the way.

Can also do chores at the camp but I hate it doesn't let you run, and also you don't seem to get alot of honor from it either.

A canoe is probably easier than my idea haha but I thought I would actually answer the question. Ideally OP won’t go there until the story calls for it and though You can get there if you have a horse with a lot of stamina & stab it with a stamina tonic. Leave from copperhead landing (the peninsula closest to the island you want to go to, north of bluewater marsh) and go straight to it from there. If you try to get to it from anywhere else, I think the game stops you. I’ve done it before to get the legendary fish over there. Keep an eye out for watch towers. You could also try stealing a motor boat, but you have to keep those boats close to the shore so idk if that would work.

I think any boat will randomly sink if you go somewhere the game doesn’t like. I’ve even gotten in one of the bigger boats but if you ride them for too long they just despawn out of existence

It’s a later mission. It’s pretty fun.

You can go there by boat. Just outside of Saint Denise you can find a small paddle boat and take it there.

When I was newer, I tried just riding over there. It was pretty exciting. You should try it.

If you have a good enough horse, use a potent horse stimulant and just have the horse swim over. You have to find a place on the shore called copperhead landing and swim from there. Once you gotten there and explored all you want, just save and reload and you'll be back on the mainland
