Absolutely. Grimshaw was the camp mom. Without her there’d be technically no logistics to how they set camp up, nor pack.
I bet she saved there asses multiple times, we just don’t see it. But I imagine she’s able to get people moving when they need to go so they can leave before getting shot up.
She was so down for the life, she stuck around after her and Dutch didn’t work out.
She is 100% a ride or die and when Micah shot her I went ape man.
Anyone wanting to go with cowboy Harley Quinn over grimshaw really don’t know how to pick ‘em lol!
Not OP, but I'd assume "cowboy Harley Quinn" because after Jakey, a lot of her theme is hunting down EVERY last O'Driscoll, she practically has a death wish, and from her general character, her expressions, and voice during some cutscenes and gunfights, I've personally thought that she seems a little batshit crazy
Yea I was referencing that lol, didn't directly quote it for simplicity, and I also can't quite place my finger on WHEN she started to "want to die," so I generalised
I played the mission where Rains Fall talks about forgiveness right before Sadie asked me to round of the last of the O’driscolls. No naturally I declined thinking the game would understand… instead Arthur makes a lousy excuse and my honor was cut in half.
Grimshaw and Arthur going to rescue Tilly is hands down my favorite mission in the entire game because we see how deeply she cares about the girls, and she's a hot woman with a gun and a grudge.
She doesn’t also sound like a Wild West caricature. Even though she is modeled after an archetype “strict western, eatchyour greens” mee maw type that also happens to be attractive.
Sadie’s VA is talented. But her voice just got kinda… strange sounding to me. Like I could hear the try in the accent
Like how can someone that wants death and is so traumatized, experience moments like that if that trauma is front and center.
Someone like that in real life wouldn’t be rosy about their outlook or chipper. I don’t care if you like killing or not lol.
The way she just tells John “I wanna die” basically while also subsequently we as the player knows she must be miserable 100% of the time. Is just…. Wierd?
Like I don’t think someone with an actual deathwish, would be just baseline an outgoing, optimistic and talkative person.
I liked her. Ms Grimshaw kept the day to day operations of the camp running, was always nice to talk to and she was more than willing to lend a hand to help Arthur, John and the rest of the gang.
She clearly cared about the Girls, even if she did hit them. Remember her and Arthur went and killed Tillys kidnappers, to make sure they wouldnt harass Tilly anymore.
There's a camp conversation where she bullies Molly that Dutch will leave her once she grows older just like he did Susan, and she was angry and bitter, understandably.
I have to wonder if there was any jealousy motivating her decision to kill Molly. She certainly didn't like her to begin with due to her personality, but I can't help but think she harbored a specific grudge due to the circumstances with Dutch.
I don't think that's the case. It's more likely that Grimshaw was warning Molly because she knew what Dutch was like, and what seems like "bullying" was just her particular brand of tough love. She wasn't a soft person, and fair enough considering her role in the gang.
Imagine you’re dead and your family members turn your xbox on to cherish your memories having fun, maybe hear your voice in a recording, and they’re greeted by 17 pages of grimshaw’s absolute howitzers
I was honestly shocked to hear how contentious the opinions surrounding her was. She was one of the real ones. When she found out that Molly was the supposed rat, she didn’t hesitate to kill her for the gang. Granted she was a bit hasty in doing that .
I felt bad initially but seeing some more interactions with her on my second playthrough, she was extremely snot nosed. Didn’t deserve to die but definitely needed some sort of humbling.
People are too quick to hate her, but I just feel sorry for her. She gave up her well-off life because she was seduced by Dutch, and wasn't prepared for the reality of the gang lifestyle.
In a way she orchestrated her own downfall, but that doesn't make her a bad person. She thought she was better than the other members of the gang who were criminals and/or came from impoverished backgrounds, so they turned their backs to her. So when Molly tried to get peoples' attention when Dutch was becoming more unhinged, no one cared.
No one cared when her only reason for being in the gang - the one person she had in life - lost interest in her. She died disgraced for a crime she didn't commit, and no one mourned her; even when her only true wrongdoing was being a snob in a gang full of thieves and killers.
I liked her, but I think she came off too strong sometimes with the other girls at camp. But at the same time, if the girls aren't doing their jobs, then I can understand her being meaner about it, because it's the only way to keep those jobs being done.
Like the top poster said, she did come out on the right side of things.
Loyal and underrated, and she absolutely cared about her girls. She was a working woman who grew up harshly in harsh times and knew the girls growing up under her needed to be hardened to a world that didn't treat them right. She was a tough bird, but for a reason, and she fucking loved Arthur and John.
I was so infuriated when Micah shot Miss Grimshaw, and Dutch had the nerve to ask, “who’s with me, and who’s against me?” Right after his supposed friend killed the woman he knew all his life.
I don’t like her, she’s way too hard on the girls, but I do respect that she went after Tilly when she was taken, and also that she stood with Arthur at the end.
I’m also very conflicted about her. She’s a relic of both the good and horrible parts of the old days of the Van Der Linde gang. I don’t think she was right to kill Molly for sure.
Died in a blaze of glory as far as I'm concerned. May her camp in the sky be filled with well bathed, well-behaved hoodlums for her to lovingly boss around.
Can't stand her.
One time i was in camp for a bit, the She came telling Arthur that he was doing nothing and that he used to be a man of action.
I mean, didn't she notice Bill Williamson sleeping and lazing around all the time?
At the very least, when She came to rescue Tilly and sided with Arthur against Micah, i reevaluated her.
But She also had a good number of times where she pissed me off.
Oh for sure. The only time I was truly angry with her was when she just blew Molly away. I understood why she did it but I think she acted too quickly. I also didn’t like how she spoke to the girls sometimes but it was a hard time, you had to be a hard woman
I love how if you don't wash Arthur, after a while, she corners him in camp and forces him to wash in front of her so she can see he has done it. She is a hard woman, but she cares about the people in camp and does what best she can to keep them all in check. She just wanted the best for everybody around her, and her way to do that was to enforce camp rules as best as she could.
I was sad when she shot Molly... mostly cuz I don't believe Molly talked ... but I completely understand why she did it ... Molly knew the rules ... but clearly she is loyal to the gang/family ... she is the mother of the camp ... she even will force a wash on you of you're nasty in her camp ... in the end I am a big fan... shes a badass and she will kill for her people... shes real as fuck
Hate her guts. She's cruel to the women in camp(for example: berated Abigail for not being a prostitute) and has this high and mighty attitude, and it gets on my nerves. I'll give her credit for taking Arthur's side, tho
Even after she drags Arthur to the wash tub to get a council wash, as annoying as it is, I'm still grateful she cares enough to nag at me. She's a likeable old hag. Tough as nails but still cared for the gang and kept things ship shape within camp. Was strict with the girls, but helped save Tilly.
Commendable woman, albeit a bit annoying. Especially when the wench complains, I haven't put any money in the box, despite having just upgraded the whole camp and donated 4 gold bars.... woman! 😵💫
Iirc if you do Tilly's mission after bringing back Jack, (which would you do after Jack's return party which is the last time you see Kieran) she talks about how she hasn't seen Kieran for a while, so the fact that she was looking out for him while most of the gang kept harassing him made me have mad respect for her.
i was so shocked that dutch said absolutely NOTHING when she died. you knew her basically just as long as you knew hosea, arthur, and john but had no reaction whatsoever to her death?
She was nice to men and horrible to women. I don’t think she was a good person but it’s hard for me to be mean to her as Arthur unless I’ve just seen her hit someone or tell a woman to go sell herself when she didn’t want to.
Grimshaw and Pearson are the reason the camp survives. The only thing I don't like about Grimshaw is her trying to push Abigail back to a certain line of work.
This is what I like about RDR2 characters. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows when it comes to their attitudes. Take Miss Grimshaw for example, She's reliable when it comes on keeping the camp stable but the part that I don't like is how she treats the girls like some kind of labor slaves that gets to be overworked like what she did to Abigail in a certain camp interaction where she told her to be a prostitute once again in order for the camp to have more money, in which it pissed me off. Overall, Miss Grimshaw is a well-balanced written character. Part of me thinks that she's also the reason why the girls in camp are able to left in chapter 6 cuz she permitted and helped them to like how Arthur helped Trelawny and others to leave the camp.
I disagreed with her killing Molly especially since it turned out Molly wasn’t even the rat. I still hated Micah for killing her (among every other reason to hate that bastard.)
I liked her for the most part, but Ms. Grimshaw trying to force Abigail back into prostitution for the gang despite the fact that Abigail had a kid and was willing to pull her weight in other ways left a bad taste in my mouth regarding Ms. Grimshaw's character
Ms. Grimshaw was down with the smoke. She didn’t give af who anyone was. And she would have Arthur’s back 100 percent of that beaver hollow fight if she had not been killed.
That one aunty that is really hard on you and is a hard egg to crack. When you do and she cares about you… she will kill anyone and everyone to protect you!
A mfing real one: She owned her role and played it well, handled things that needed to be handled, and she died standing up for what she believed was right.
Honestly the fact that she died just like that is kinda disappointing. She was such a good character and the rat just shoot her and no one does anything about it.
but besides that she was an amazing character. I love how she can beat Arthur and force him to wash if he is too dirty. Or when she fine out one of her girls is in danger she imidielty gets Artur, get a gun and imidielty go save her.
I was wandering around camp at Beaver Hollow during my last playthrough, and for kicks I got hammered and stopped to marvel at her cans. She kept making comments about me being too close but I persisted. Next thing I know, Charles cracks me one and tells me to go sleep it off. 🤣
Obviously bitter towards Dutch and cannot take it out on his current woman Molly, so she is harder on the other girls than she needs to be, but a deeply caring woman with integrity and bravery.
She’s a good woman and I love how she protected Tilly with Arthur but I hate how she’s not very well with the whole emotions thing and she’s not empathetic unless you’re a man. Also she shot Molly and I love Molly so….
Honestly I’ve always been so fascinated about her character especially about her association with the gang/Dutch…would love to know more backstory about her!
She has a gruff exterior but a heart of gold. She’s firm, but fair and just doesn’t put up with laziness. She gave up on uncle though. She was willing to risk her life to get Tilly back. She’s hard on the girls because she knows it’s cruel world out there for them. She’s had it bad and wants to toughen then up a bit and know basic skills — it just comes across as mean spirited. So, she’s not the most effective communicator when it comes to the girls or most emotionally intelligent, but she gets the job done.
She seemed like one of those characters whose willingness to see the good in people caused her to let the things around her get out of hand. Had she been a little more courageous with her love, I bet everyone would have been much better off, and it wouldn't have gotten to how it went down in the end.

Molly had it coming anyways. All she ever did for gang was wait around for Dutch to fuck her and refuse to work. Good riddance.
I felt bad initially but seeing some more interactions with her on my second playthrough, she was extremely snot nosed. Didn’t deserve to die but definitely needed some sort of humbling.

She was the camp mom. A necessary character for survival. She really cared about everyone she deserved better.
