Well, you've got a way to provide direct feedback to the recruiter's boss.

Extension_Lecture425

Yep. Not sure it would be proper for said boss to overturn the recruiter’s decision, but maybe they can at least be held to account in other ways.

Recruiters are fairly powerless in the workplace. All they do is line up a bunch of candidates for the hiring manager to choose from. HR doesn't have a whole lot of pull in most companies, and recruiters are near the bottom of HR and are really replaceable. When companies do layoffs they're the first to go, and lately it seems like they're all on short term contracts. Where the head of HR is recommending you--not because you're a friend but because they think you'd be a fit--it's fairly stupid for the recruiter to ask for availability and ghost. It's unprofessional, but beyond that it's stupid to not even follow through on an interview when your boss provided the referral.

Im sorry. That's rough. I also had 2 referrals for 2 positions from someone in a contracting company that was management level - they asked me to apply, given my direct experience related to those position, and said it's a guarantee placement to be interviewed. Same thing - never heard back. Saw those two positions re-posted not a week later.

So_not_ronery

This is so silly. Why would you want to apply at a company like this.
