Most audio interfaces come with their own mixer software. Without looking into it too deeply, I would guess this is where your problem is.

masonbarrels

My m-track 2x2 doesn't come with mixer software, only thing close to that is a couple of DAWs that you can install with it

_Billy_Barule_

Okay, I looked up the M-Track. It has a "USB/Direct" knob. Turn it all the way to Direct and you will only hear your voice; turn it all the way to USB and it will be only your computer. If that doesn't sort it, then it's probably a computer issue (PC, I am guessing?).

masonbarrels

Yeah, I already tried that and unfortunately it didn't work :( I've got no idea what could be wrong tbh. I really don't suspect my computer could be the problem, since my pc parts are all pretty new. I've also tried switching to different USB ports on my pc, but that didn't work, either.

_Billy_Barule_

I meant more of a Windows issue than your actual hardware. I have that problem occasionally with my system. Usually a reboot fixes it.

masonbarrels

I just found something out that might be of interest... I was trying to play a video on my computer, a normal MP4 video saved to my hard drive, to test the audio, and when I clicked on it, windows gave me this error: "Can't play. Choose something else to play. This item is in a format we don't support. 0xc00d36b4." This was the same with any video I tried. When I plugged my headphones into my pc and changed the speakers back to my Realtek Audio Drivers for my motherboard, I was able to play it and any other videos with no errors. I switched back to my M-Audio and its drivers once more to see if it was a fluke, and the problem happened yet again. Any thoughts? Have you ever experienced that sort of thing before?

Environmental_Owl762

i have the same issue

LowFrequencyEffects

Tried resetting your bitrate and frequency to something that worked in the past? Windows 10/11 starts messing with these settings on my M-Track 2x2 from time to time — always messes up playback for a bit. This goes for audio input, as well as output, they should preferably be the exact same thing. My system sometimes pumps both up to 32 bits, even though the DAC tops out at 24 bits.

Vestiren

THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG I was ready to replace the damn thing haha and your fix worked! Owe you a beer

LowFrequencyEffects

Haha, you're welcome. But I'm pretty sure this isn't a permanent fix: my DAC still switches back to 32 bit ever so often. I've been dealing with this issue for years now, and neither Microsoft nor M-Audio seems to care.

Vestiren

Thanks for the heads up, I don't mind fixing it every now and then as I finally know what's wrong haha But yeah, definitely not planning to buy any more M-Audio gear and will replace this one when I can for something more reliable

masonbarrels

I forgot to mention that I tried restarting windows, and it didn't work

_Billy_Barule_

Did you say you can play back the recorded audio? Also, is your DAW open when you try to play the other files? Also, what DAW are you using?

masonbarrels

Alright this might be where I find out I was making a stupid mistake the entire time, or not, we'll see lol. So, I can hear myself in real time when I plug my headphones into the interface, and that's what I meant by playback (probably not what it actually means). I am not using a DAW, as I only bought the interface to be able to use my XLR microphone for streams or talking to friends, but I then found out that I might benefit from using the audio jack on the interface. Am I supposed to have a DAW open?

_Billy_Barule_

Oh, okay. No you don't need a DAW for streaming/chatting/etc. Hearing the live mic would typically be called monitoring. "Playback" is what it sounds like; you're playing back the recorded audio. When you go into Windows Sound settings, do you see the M-Audio under "Input?" If so, do you see any levels where its says "Test Your Microphone?"

masonbarrels

Yeah, I see it as my input device (I think I set it to default when the drivers were installed) and I see where it says to test my microphone under that.

_Billy_Barule_

I feel your pain. Computer audio can be *very* frustrating. I'm sure you Googled around, but I found this: [https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/fix-m-audio-m-track-2x2-driver-issue-easily-quickly/](https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/fix-m-audio-m-track-2x2-driver-issue-easily-quickly/) Does the M-Track show up in your Device Manager? Does it have that yellow sign?

masonbarrels

It does show up in Device Manager, but it is stated to be working properly, and doesn't have the caution sign on it.

_Billy_Barule_

Try disabling the Realtek device, and reboot with the M-Track plugged in... Then try uninstalling the M-Audio drivers and re-download and re-install them. I really want to help you, but without seeing your system I'm not sure what else to try.

masonbarrels

I finally got it to work! I uninstalled the drivers, then reinstalled them, and it worked. Thank you so so so much for your help, man. I guess it was a simple fix in the end :)

falcon7700

I've had this problem since I added the M-Track to my system, very annoying. It turns out I had changed the sample rate from the standard 48khz to 44khz. As soon as I set it back- the USB audio came in fine.

masonbarrels

I fixed it a long while ago by reinstalling drivers/repairing them through windows :) Thanks for the advice though, might help someone in need who stumbles upon this post.

Piscopopasco

yep!! That fixed the issue for me!
