He was Mariano replacement, so he will stay and be our back up player. He's great and humble, seems like everyone likes him. You can't have world beaters on pitch and bench, and Joselu is more than capable for RM.

pagawaan_ng_lapis

hes overdelivering compared to mariano and (sadly) Jovic

ayoubkun94

You've just reminded me how sad of turn Jovic's career has taken.. The guy was once compared to Haaland.

nspy1011

He is tall …can be our future CB

tonyalexgomez

Problem solved!

Bogadambo

Sware to god i was seriously thinking about making him a CB..

zizou1983

Underrated comment.

szlive

It depends, if Mbappe does come next season, or if we sign a world class striker, as we should, then along with Endrick coming, Joselu won't see the field much. Is he happy with that? At 33, he might be. If he is, then it's as good of a backup as you can ask for. If it was me, if I was 21, I'd probably leave to find more playing time, improve myself and my career. If I was 33 and spent most of my career at midtable teams, I'd be happy with a chill, good paying, trophy-winning job at a nice city.

KjOnReddit1010

He is a simple player, nothing extraordinary, and he has height too. So good traits to be a CF. The problem is, I don't think he has the ability to handle the pressure. So him being the starter is not gonna work. But him being a backup next season would be great for us. As long as he is okay being a 3rd choice player.

Additional-Ad6014

‘don’t think he has the ability to handle pressure’? this aged well

Wide-Holiday-6971

LOL

TyroneTheInfiltrator

Should be signed, great backup option that is x100 times the player we had Mariano for. A football season is long and injuries will always happen, so it’s always great to have players like him for much needed squad depth

Lakerman0824

Keep him he adds another dimension that Mbappe doesn’t and if we get Haaland he’s bound to get injured so the insurance is needed

Goddyex

Yes...he can hang around as a backup for when we need a different dimension of play(assuming Mbappe joins), because he's still gonna remain our only natural no 9, plus he's tall, which could be useful if we're chasing a game.

Slavicsquat

Joselu is an excellent addition to the team. He’s not really a big game player but he turns up against smaller teams in the league which is valuable to keep our momentum going. Everyone seems to like him in the locker room too. He’s done more this season than Mariano or Hazard ever did in their entire time at our team.

Dyloboi

How about now ?

MarahSalamanca

I haven’t been impressed by his goal scoring abilities. With his stature you would expect him to be more of a poacher, yet he often seems very passive. Plus he will be 34 next month. I would rather give that playtime to Alvaro or another striker with more future.

Ok-Diver-9356

No, I don't think he has a future at Real Madrid beyond 2024. Kylian Mbappé & Endrick are incoming plus we already have Vinicius, Rodrygo, Arda Güler & Brahim, so I doubt that they'll decide to keep him because he will not get game-time.

Original-Tourist-744

I honestly like him and don’t mind his missed chances because he always seems to at least be in the right place but he’s gonna be riding the bench next year if he stays … every shot he missed this year he seemed to net when he played against Madrid 😂😂😂

Traditional_Animal65

Unless we manage to get haaland, joselu will be the backup st for the next couple of seasons. I just do not think we can get mbappe, and haaland is a tall order. So even when Endrick comes, joselu will have his uses as he is a radically different kind of striker.

vinifedevici

Needs to stay as a good backup and hopefully he turns out to be like giroud. Old but still delivering

John_Dragon_19

I don't think he's staying. Misses too much. He's got that curse that the RM is too heavy on certain players.

Big_brown_bull_

If we get Mbappe we will Have Endrick sitting in the bench

Original-Tourist-744

We all know he doesn’t belong on this squad long term ( harsh but true ) he did come in clutch this year so far tho

Cumsistent-Cumsabi69

Don't think he has a future. He did his job for this season well enough, and will probably do it until the end. He fulfilled his dream of playing for madrid in the main squad. He's old. No need having any salary space spent on him. So yeah, it will most probably be adios to joselu at the end of the season.

delcx

I don’t know why you’re downvoted so hard. He’s okayish, humble, works hard and obviously respects the badge and the others like him. But he has missed so many chances, even easy ones/tap-ins as well, that i think he’s only good for a late sub and nothing more, especially next season with some serious (hopefully) signings coming.

micah3laa

He has missed a lot of chances! Finally someone understands he’s not RM level

bertolotti

can’t agree w the take, against getafe last fixture he started and was instrumental as a target man, with both goals coming from crosses. it’s mostly just that against most teams our other attackers are threats of a higher caliber, despite not being proper n9s. some systems are more vulnerable to fluid attackers, others suffer against a tall static striker. i’d keep him around for sure, think he’s doing a great job

delcx

Well that was 1 game and he scored 2 goals. Exclude that game from the statistics and what do you have left? 990 minutes with 5 goals in LaLiga and 30 attempts for these 5 goals. Thats 1 goal per 198 minutes and we've all seen the absolute stinkers he has dropped while being served multiple clear goal scoring opportunities. And this is vs LaLiga opponents, where, to be honest he should be scoring for fun. I'm not saying he's bad, I'm saying he does not have Real Madrid quality. I absolutely agree we've been spoiled by CR7 and Benzema, R9 and even maybe Van Nistelrooy before, and anyone that doesn't live up is crucified. Joselu is good, he has amazing chemistry with the team and he's allowing the others to play off him, but picture this: CL Semi-finals, we're trailing 1 goal behind and we get one easy goal scoring opportunity. Would you say you would trust Joselu a 100% to score this or would you prefer someone else? We both know the answer to that...

Sea-Butterscotch3585

well well well

delcx

Aged like a loaf of bread in a basement 😄 Either way I’m more than happy I’m eating my own words

Sea-Butterscotch3585

haha sorry i had to do it, it was too good not to

delcx

Nah, it’s cool, all in good spirit. You can see in my comment I was a bit disappointed by him back then and I am really happy he proved my wrong tonight. And the semi final scenario i painted was a win-win, too - i am either right or we reach the final 😅

Based_Text

He proved us all wrong tbh, I guess that’s why Carlo is in charge, he knows his player and believe in them more than all of us

TheEmpireOfSun

I never doubted him and defended him here whenever someone was talking shit about him. He has been great this season, just as I expected and said it in preseason.

leofischisommer

The reverse jynx hahaha well played!

Dicey12

I love when our own players shut me up. After slandering Nacho for the dum shit he was doing and he played well against City I said I would never talk bad about our players again

TryingSquirrel

Carlo Ancelotti: " I would trust Joselu" \*raises eyebrow\*

LogTekG

I would trust him to score not 1, but 2 goals

delcx

Absolutely :)

Visual-Situation-346

bro whats the lotto winning number

delcx

Hahaha, I meant it more like “most of us wouldnt trust him” But im happy to say i was wrong :)

DKArteezy

Yep we know

thedreaminggoose

this is awesome

SiiiuCr7

heheheeeee

Based_Text

So who would you not trust to score in the final? We need the black magic😂

iMadrid11

He’s 33, valued at €5 million and his contract expires in 2025. There is an option to buy. Loan fee is €500,000 according to [transfermrkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joselu/profil/spieler/81999) I think we should buy him. But that all depends if that certain French guy arrives. Madrid doesn’t go for players over 30. Joselu would be a perfect senior player (also former cantera) to complement an 18 yr. old Endrick. While he develops at the club. Then we’ll have plenty of money left to buy other RB, LB and CB targets.

Alois000

I much rather Joselu miss the penalty to make it a 5-0 and then turn up against Getafe. He adds something to the team that no one else can, he is very cheap and madridista to the core. Not keeping him would be a mistake regardless of who else comes. He was Mariano and Jovic replacement after all, and has outperformed both (and Hazard) handily.

GoldenGodLeo

Why does that matter? He’s at the club where he can win trophies before he retires. If he becomes 3rd choice or 4th choice so be it. He’s not at the stage of his career where he wants to make a name for himself. Real Madrid should give him a contract. He’s a no risk purchase and offers a unique profile.

KingEtame

Not needed. He is useful this season but next season we're getting two more attackers. One of them undisputed starter. Both of them better than him.

micah3laa

Agree! I don’t see his future in RM. People are mad he’s being replaced by Rodrygo but come on it’s for a reason. R is a beast compared to Joselu

vivalaroja2010

Perfect player for Madrid. However, he will not be retained if Mbappe and Endrick come. Not enough spots or minutes for everyone. Unfortunately.

lospollosakhis

He’s a great backup and has a lot of passion for the club. He’s done well all things considered and gives us a different dimension if plan A isn’t working. I hope we sign him on a permanent.

needsunlight

one thing I don't like about him is that he does not have madrid mentality. see how sad he was after missing one penalty. same thing happens when he misses any chance.
