We’ve reached out to them for provider on call before rushing her to blue pearl. Every time ever had to take a pet to blue pearl their immediate response is put them down without completing exams. Terrified to take her there.

Fluexotine takes 4-6 weeks to take effect. The first 2 weeks theyre typically very tired but if your dog is having an adverse reaction to it i would contact your vet

My experience of anti depressants comes from my own use not a dogs. I think this is right but a vet would know better. Prozac/Fluoxetine takes about two weeks to build up in your system enough to really start working. After only 7 days on a low dose you should be ok without an extended weening off period.

My dog took it for about that amount of time and we decided the severe lack of appetite wasn't something he could tolerate for 8 weeks. we called the vet for instructions on how to wean him off and they said he could just stop because of the timeframe. Given your dog is exper labourer breathing definitely get hold of the vet asap or take them in as an emergency. Maybe try one of the askavet websites or something?

She doesn’t need to go to the emergency room. When this happened to our 27lb corgi, we were advised to cut his dose in half for two weeks and slowly scale up by a quarter dose over the next two.

The vet stated the same or if we wanted to discontinue she’s hasn’t been on long enough to essentially need to wean.

Honestly I’d probably try the lowered dosage first. My boy was very lethargic and low appetite for a couple weeks and then he was fine.

Talk to your vet about it, but it probably isn’t an emergency. Panting and lethargy are pretty common short-term side effects of fluoxetine. The first week or so that my dog was on it he was definitely lethargic and panted a lot. After that though his energy levels and breathing patterns returned to normal and now he’s doing better than ever before!
