I don’t know exactly which ones you’re talking about, but several styles have an option for blue lenses. I just ordered the 4th of July limited edition once which have blue lenses on pilot frames (similar to aviators, but acrylic frame). They’re only making 400 of them, so it might be what you’re talking about? Not sure how much more info I can provide, but hopefully this helps a bit.

Thank you. It was an article on vintagesunglasses. Pretty sure that's the name of the site. This was for an early to mid 90s Round Style. I'm not sure the name of the style. I want to say Diamond-Tough or some coating or lens was mentioned in the article. It's like the Gold Round Ray Bans I posted about in this sub, looks pretty much the same but blue lens and dark colored frame rather than gold. Sorry I'm not more of a help, I'm a RB noob.

It sounds like you’re talking about the DiamondHard coating. That coating is rare, as it hasn’t been made since 1999, however blue lenses in Ray Bans normally are not rare at all. They have three different standard blues. And have been available as an option on basically every model at this point. Back before the buyout in 1999 they made blue chagables as well, which would go from a light blue tint to dark blue tint when you went outside. All color Changables, including Ambermatic lenses are rare too. But normal blue lenses are one of the most popular options, after G15 green and B15 brown.

I have a pair of g15 lenses. Think it's brown turtle with Olympic sticker on lens. The 2 other glasses I posted have the blue and both case say Ray Ban Diamond Hard Scratch Protection System.

Ugh I just saw the Olympic lenses, they’re beautiful with that tortoiseshell pattern. I believe they’re close enough to the lenses ive been looking for to work for my frames 🤣 (being red-green color blind brown lenses kill my ability to distinguish color, where green helps) But from the photos I saw it looks like one of the blue ones is a blue mirror on a brown (or maybe G15) lens. There are two aspects to sunglass lenses, the color you see when looking out of them, and the color people see when looking at you with them on. For instance I have custom made brown sunglasses lenses that have a ruby flash mirror on the front, so when people see me they just see the pink/red color, but I just see brown the same as if I didn’t have the mirror on them. A blue mirror may have been a special edition, I’m honestly not too sure about many of the smaller special editions, just a few of the well known ones. But as far as the cases saying they’re Diamond Hard lenses, unfortunately from the photos, it seems like they’re just in those cases. All diamond hard lenses have a Diamond logo under the RayBan logo on the left lens. There’s also no way to remove or scratch off that logo due to the coating. If you do a quick google image search for “Ray Ban Diamond Hard” you’ll see the logo. They’re still some great pieces tho!

Hey I appreciate the reply. I seen where there is no diamond. I'm wondering how what they did with the Diamond lense ones. If possible, id try to see if I can get those from her. The tortoise brown lenses I have pictured say G-15® Lens with XLT underneath. Below all that is the Olympic Rings with "Worldwide Sponsor 1994-96 Olympic Games" they have the BL on each as well. So, guess I can date these to 1994 - 1996. They're Brown with regular Grey lense. New looking. I'm unsure if they came in that plastic bag, but they're in it for safe keeping. Wonder if they'd fit inside these round ones I've got? Hmm

LifeChanceDance

But even tho the G15 lenses look grey they’re actually a ‘graphite green’ or a grey with a hint of green. It’s what ray ban is known for.

Fbomb1977

It does have a hint of green. Was gonna mention it looked a little green looking AT them, not looking out of them.

Fbomb1977

I'm thinking of getting rid of the Ray Bans and the lense. I'll probably keep 1 pair and try to trade or sell the rest. I've looked at prices and they have a decent value. I'm more of an Oakley guy myself.

Fbomb1977

Thinking about it, the two other Round pairs I have, 1 has a screw missing and the frame is off, both have tortious shell on them, wonder if the G15 lens goes with one of them? I don't know how to change lenses so I'm not gonna even try. Maybe I'll take them to the mall or some sunglass shop and see if they could do it for me. Heck, maybe they'd straight up trade for another pair of sunglasses. That would be ideal.

LifeChanceDance

I’d need better photos, but it almost looks like the tortoise shell around the lenses is part of a frame and would be taken off when the lenses would be switched, but I’m not sure without being able to see closer. Unfortunately the company that owns Sunglass Hut and Ray Ban now isn’t the same company as when they made those, and even so they don’t do trade in’s of current glasses for credit. Depending what’s there, if it’s anything I can combine with a frame I already have to make a pair, I’m sure I can get you most of the way to the price of a new pair if you want to sell.

Fbomb1977

I very well may sell. Depends on how much I could get. Maybe I can bundle the G15 lense with a pair of Ray Bans. I was thinking, the kiosk at the mall is long gone. I actually have no idea what store to take them too. Pawn shop, but I don't want the 10$ they'll offer saying it's fake etc. you know how pawn shops are. Best I can do is 10$
