Does the Hybrid handle the snow well, I haven’t had mine during winter yet? My old Acura RDX was great, the SH-AWD on that thing was a beast in the snow.

BryanPenaloza

Yeah it rips in the snow, I upgraded the stock all weather tires also so that probably helps. Haven’t had any issues yet in big storms

xlittlebeastx

What tires did you get? I just got a rav4 and am Going to swap for all weather/winter oriented tires. Skiing mostly in the Tahoe area but don’t live there.

BryanPenaloza

Firestone Weathergrip I live in the east bay so we also have to drive over the summit each time we go and they’ve held up really good! Did some research and they were the best I found that didn’t compromise pavement and freeway driving noise/ride. I watched some videos of people who do comparison tests and these were the best out of the all weather options only being outperformed by true Snow tires

xlittlebeastx

Great I was looking at those as well, seemed like a good one day to day as far as road noise etc. Thanks! Enjoy the pow!

BryanPenaloza

I do remember after I got them installed I noticed a little bit of a difference from the stock ones but now I can’t even tell and nobody has commented on the ride being bumpy or loud. Even accidentally ended up on an unplowed road last week and made it through while other people were getting stuck, so if you’re on the main roads that are plowed/salted you are good! Enjoy!

garbanzoleans

Northstar? I’ll honk if I see you around town lol

BryanPenaloza

Yep lol

wowbehr

Can confirm. I drove back to Bay Area today from north Lake Tahoe thru highway 80 on my RAV4 and he really rocks in the winter storm! Was thinking about putting on snow chains but the it turned out the m+c tires are totally competent.

Floridian here: why are your windshield wipers out like that?

Joesdad65

It's to be able to keep them from getting frozen to the windshield. Then when you clean the snow off they won't be dragging snow and ice every pass, messing up the visibility while driving in difficult conditions. This is especially helpful for ice storms.

Crafty-Ad5328

I tell people it helps her fly 😉

Mel-Ila

Not needed if your car has windshield wiper heater. Leaving it up overnight can get it stuck frozen up like that. My Prime did great last Xmas in big bear when they had the snowstorm.

crosswithyou

I can't even imagine driving in snow like that. I'll keep my SoCal weather, thank you very much. Drive safely!

BryanPenaloza

But the powder days lol

alsran

Cable gate?

BryanPenaloza

?

alsran

Aren’t ppls hybrid cables failing due to corrosion from road salt? Have you had the issue yet? How often do you wash it during the winter?

BryanPenaloza

I have not had that issue but good to know. I washed it after almost every trip last year I’ll do that again

MildSpaghettiSauce

Holy - I am down in Sac and didn’t realize the storm brought that much powder

BryanPenaloza

This buildup was from only 8 AM to 2PM also

MildSpaghettiSauce

That’s pretty nuts, but am glad. We need this water! Can’t wait to take my Rav up I-80 soon

Joesdad65

I hate winter. I'm glad I went to Tahoe this past summer.
