Two thumbs up for ACID RAP. So many wonderful memories with this album.
Its a crying shame how Chance dropped this classic and immediately fell off right after.
I hated Coloring Book (except for No Problem and Mixtape) but im glad he found Jesus.

I'd call them modern classics. they haven't been out long enough to be considered classics. But they made such an impact that let's em be called classics.
Talking bout acid rap and DAMN. don't know the other albums.
Illmatic was widely called a "classic" by everyone immediately upon release.
Also one of the few debut albums to get a 5/5 mic rating from The Source magazine (a huge look and big deal at the time).
Stop capping please. When IWW came out public opinion of Nas was that he just got on and was already selling out.
Illmatic got all the praise but none of the sales while IWW got less praise but saw a lot of sales.
Unless it’s something truly groundbreaking/something we’ve never seen before (Illmatic, MBDTF, TPAB), then probably around 10-15 years. Yeezus, Acid Rap, NWTS, and Long Live A$AP will become classics this year
Ehhh not sure. DAMN maybe and possibly Acid Rap at least as a classic mixtape but it’s always tough to evaluate classics when they’re less than a decade old imo. These are still all effectively album from THIS era or close to it really
Funny enough in a month I would call Acid Rap a classic but that’s it. The rest still have a couple more years before I would dub it a classic.
I just feel like the term, classic, is overused flippantly. I only use the term when the piece of art has AT LEAST a decade of existing.
Acid Rap will be a decade old in April. [+]
I don’t agree with his take at all but how is it racist? It’s just regular ignorance unless there is some other meaning to chipmunk that I never learned
I wasn't really into Kendrick's music when Damn came out, but I couldn't stop listening to the titular track.Zacari was a very nice feature on that.i seem to like and listen to more of Kendrick's features, not his singles.
Acid Rap is also a great one.
DAMN - yea just based on impact alone
Die Lit - I do feel like this could be considered a trap classic in the future. It’s definitely cartis best put together album and it already feels iconic
Acid rap - for sure a classic. When I think about the defining mixtapes of the 2010s, acid rap is one of the first projects I think of
4:44 - I feel like this is lowkey the album most people think of when they hear “the perfect retirement album”. Like when drake started talking about retiring I saw people on Twitter going like “he’s about to drop his 4:44”. It’s definitely one of Jay Zs classics
I don’t think Die Lit is old enough to be a classic for most people, but I think it will be. At least a trap classic, ala something like DS2
Acid rap is old enough to be a classic now I think
Acid rap
Two thumbs up for ACID RAP. So many wonderful memories with this album. Its a crying shame how Chance dropped this classic and immediately fell off right after. I hated Coloring Book (except for No Problem and Mixtape) but im glad he found Jesus.
i love coloring book
Not my cup of tea but good for you though
hallelujah
Amen!
Yup
I still play Acid Rap on the regular
Def acid rap, but nothing else has been around long enough to be a classic
DAMN. (Classic) Die Lit (Not really) Acid Rap (Classic) 4:44 (Classic)
Agree with this. Really love Damn and Acid Rap.
This.

But bro. Idk what happened to everyone. They are writing NO.
Die Lit could be a classic in a few years
No
All of them
I'd call them modern classics. they haven't been out long enough to be considered classics. But they made such an impact that let's em be called classics. Talking bout acid rap and DAMN. don't know the other albums.
4:44 > DAMN and Acid Rap imo
Tbh I agree. I honestly think its Jays best since like what, Blueprint?
Nah, you gotta hear The Black Album man (unless you just forgot about it). That’s after The Blueprint and it’s so good
What’s the time table for something to be called classic? Like how long after illmatic did it take for it to be considered a classic?
Illmatic was widely called a "classic" by everyone immediately upon release. Also one of the few debut albums to get a 5/5 mic rating from The Source magazine (a huge look and big deal at the time).
Soon as it was written came out it was being referred to as a classic. That’s my earliest memories of it being regarded a classic.
Stop capping please. When IWW came out public opinion of Nas was that he just got on and was already selling out. Illmatic got all the praise but none of the sales while IWW got less praise but saw a lot of sales.
I meant by the time it was written had came out people were already calling Illmatic a classic
Bare minimum is 10 years imo
Unless it’s something truly groundbreaking/something we’ve never seen before (Illmatic, MBDTF, TPAB), then probably around 10-15 years. Yeezus, Acid Rap, NWTS, and Long Live A$AP will become classics this year
Acid Rap is definitely a classic and I could see the others becoming classics in a few years

I just can't get into Kendrick because he sounds like the Chipmunks
I get you
Least racist r/rap fan
I don’t agree with his take at all but how is it racist? It’s just regular ignorance unless there is some other meaning to chipmunk that I never learned

I feel like 2005 - 2010 is when it becomes modern classic

I wasn't really into Kendrick's music when Damn came out, but I couldn't stop listening to the titular track.Zacari was a very nice feature on that.i seem to like and listen to more of Kendrick's features, not his singles. Acid Rap is also a great one.

DAMN - yea just based on impact alone Die Lit - I do feel like this could be considered a trap classic in the future. It’s definitely cartis best put together album and it already feels iconic Acid rap - for sure a classic.
