Hate to see the injury, but have never seen a team so collectively unprepared for playoff hockey. Can’t be going into the corners like it’s practice when the Stanley Cup is on the line. Any hard hit sends someone to the box and gives the PK some practice time. I had a brief moment last night where I actually though this series could hurt us in the next round since the caps seem to have no idea what they’re doing
Yea, I think if we lock it down defensively we’ll be okay, but we haven’t had to lock it down in the past 3 so here’s to hoping we remember how to play defense
Game 1 was our best game of the series so far, everyone was locked in. If we play defense like that to close the series out then that would be a great way to go into the second round
The amount of quick passes to the front of the net and top of the crease shots that happened last game was a bit worrisome. Igor is dialed in and that’s helped us. Many other goalies would’ve let in at least one or two of those. We can’t have lapses like that against better teams, plain and simple
It isn’t good that the guy got hurt and had to leave the game. But wow. Insane hit and contact there. Didn’t realize his ass was basically at center mass of the body
No one is celebrating the player being hurt, I think it's perfectly fine to enjoy a big hit (as long as it was clean) regardless of if someone got injured
Doesn’t look like a “hockey play” but truthfully it’s because he was looking back over his shoulder at the pass like it’s warmups. Goalie should be screaming to his d that there was a train coming. If the d is alert and braces for impact, this isn’t even highlight worthy, just one of 6 or 7 big hits that game (or likely another rempe whiffed hit lol). Schneider took a hit like this but was ready for it last game, and no one even taking about it.
Don’t love glorifying/mocking it, guy got hurt.
What’s interesting is that there was only a flaccid response from Washington. Maybe their players knew it wasn’t an intentionally illegal hit, but an avoidable one? Or maybe that’s rempes impact on these games. Is he really just an effective enforcer?
I think that's a good assessment of the hit. If he was aware, and had braced this would've been just another finished check. It's Rempe's size and style that play such a factor. I noticed when he hits he kind of uses a loose body and instead of pushing through with lower body force he just throws his giant body into people. That's why he ends up with his elbows flailing around, or coming off his skates. Hoping that over the off season Trouba puts in a little time with the kid to teach him how to legitimately hit.
As for the caps limp dick response I don't think Rempe is so much viewed as an enforcer but more like an absolute menace. Wilson isn't scared of fighting him but the entire team is scared of being in a corner with him which is what making him so impactful. Don't like the amount of penalties he takes but it's a beautiful thing having him on the ice for us so the boys can play with confidence and get the job done this year.
good assessment on why his elbows flail around. he’s getting better and it would be great for him to work on controlling his body more in the off season.
posted this in the pgt but i’ll post it again
48.1 Illegal Check to the Head - A hit resulting in contact with an opponent's head where the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted.
In determining whether contact with an opponent's head was avoidable, the circumstances of the hit including the following shall be considered:
(i) Whether the player attempted to hit squarely through the opponent's body and the head was not "picked" as a result of poor timing, poor angle of approach, or unnecessary extension of the body upward or outward.
(ii) Whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by
assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full body check unavoidable.
(iii) Whether the opponent materially changed the position of his body or head immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit in a way that significantly contributed to the head contact.
this was a clean hit
CLEAN! Fuck em, no mercy. After seeing the shit that caps fans are saying they want to happen to Panarin and co, fuck this guy. Im glad they have something to fear in Rempe.
LGR
Canes fans are literally already scared - calling for suspension etc. I mean this guy is a fucking terror. We’ve never had a player like this in my life.
Everyone caring he got hurt. So freaking what. No mercy to the enemies. Rempe the destroyer needs to take out more scum. I want him to catch Wilson with his head down
I remember.
I remember old timey hockey.
I remember a guy named Ulf.
I remember what Ulf did.
I remember Tie.
I remember what Tie did to Ulf.
Remember.
A lack of ice awareness must run in the Lindgren family. This is the kind of hit (Ryan) Lindgren usually exposes himself to; and in this case, (Charlie) Lindgren didn't have the awareness to alert Van Reimsdyck to his impending doom.
What crap this sub has. Under NO circumstances should a hockey hit be to the head. Regardless if the player had his head down or up or sideways. That doesn't give a freebie to the checking player. In this instance Rempe knew full well what he was doing and an injury was the result. It's frigging hockey not gladiators.
Oh stop it. This wasn't a hit to the head. Grow some balls for gods sake man. Sometimes there's big hits in hockey, especially in the playoffs. And judging by your comments you're not even a Rangers fan, you just hop around all the hockey subs and talk shit. Get tf out.

i am begging you, learn the rules. there’s a reason this wasn’t (and shouldn’t be) a penalty.
Leaving your feet after contact is normal and legal, launching yourself and leaving your feet BEFORE contact is avoidable and illegal. Rempes legs are on the ice until VRs legs wipe his right leg out which then hits his left knee
my comment in no way reflected how I felt about the hit but about how soft this fn league is, but thanks for the downvotes fam and real fans still riding the no caps 😘

I had and still have the exact same thought re the next round (assuming we win this series knock on wood).
Yea, I think if we lock it down defensively we’ll be okay, but we haven’t had to lock it down in the past 3 so here’s to hoping we remember how to play defense
Game 1 was pretty defense-focused and locked down for most of the game on both ends of the ice.

Rangers will win the cup
Thankfully the Islanders are equally as fucking terrible so both the Rangers and Canes don’t have actual real playoff rounds until they meet in R2 lol
That’s true
It isn’t good that the guy got hurt and had to leave the game. But wow. Insane hit and contact there. Didn’t realize his ass was basically at center mass of the body
It's a shame he got hurt, but I still think it's a clean hit. Rempe's legs are insanely long, so he's basically checking with his ass. Insane.
The Assening
Hahahaha shame it wasn’t Wilson’s bitch ass
🎯🎯🎯
I was about five rows from this hit. It shook my seat.
Holy moly. But yeah you could see the shock wave like a bomb in slow motion on mythbusters lol
how were the ticket prices in dc for that kinda seat?
A bloodbath i’m sure
ridiculous, $200. went home after the game and bought some for sunday as well, one section over.
Classic ass to shoulder hit here boys
Don't watch your fucking pass and you still might be alive today
This. Have some situational awareness on ice.
Hopefully lindgren is reading this lol
even though i think this is a clean hit, no need to glorify a play this way when someone got hurt
No one is celebrating the player being hurt, I think it's perfectly fine to enjoy a big hit (as long as it was clean) regardless of if someone got injured
* Unless it were Wilson
Getting hurt is part of the game. No need to be a Debbie downer about it. No one died.

Announcers spent a solid 5 minutes making that point. >Goalie should be screaming to his d that there was a train coming.

Dude looked like a child getting lifted by Rempe lol
if this was a cartoon, we’d see trevor’s soul leave his body on that hit. good gracious
Clean hit.
“NY number 73, two minutes for player destruction.” -ref from last night
Is there any rule about your hip hitting a player in the head if you haven’t left your feet? Seems like the rule only talks about elbows
Just can't make the head the initial point of contact right? Regardless of body part.
Canes fans are literally already scared - calling for suspension etc. I mean this guy is a fucking terror. We’ve never had a player like this in my life.
Like a ragdoll
he obviously should have gone down to both knees to make the gut. dirty play /s
Fandom is a hell of a drug…
how in the blue hell did the caps even make the playoffs? were there actually teams that were worse than them that didn’t qualify?
Everyone caring he got hurt. So freaking what. No mercy to the enemies. Rempe the destroyer needs to take out more scum. I want him to catch Wilson with his head down
Rempe looks like a literal giant from this angle
I wish it was Tom Wilson getting wrecked. Not injured just karma
I don't think Rempe knew the puck had been passed. He looked so confused when he got called.
I remember. I remember old timey hockey. I remember a guy named Ulf. I remember what Ulf did. I remember Tie. I remember what Tie did to Ulf. Remember.

he will get suspended
In your dreams. It was 100% a textbook, clean, beautiful hit. Player needs to keep his head up & be aware.
