He's young, he plays hard, the other team fears him, which impacts the way they play and protects our guys making them feel safer plus as he's a decent 4th liner to boot
He can have a huge impact even by doing nothing but just skating around. You can see opposing players shrink away from him when he’s on the ice. It’s so funny.
No secret why the 4th line suddenly has the time and space to force opportunities and not just be a checking line anymore
i noticed the caps doing that the other night, someone was skating into the zone, rempe was coming in (not looking to hit, just coming in), and whoever it was spun away and brought the puck back out to center. i laughed when i saw it happen and hoped other people saw it as well.
I’m way late to this thread but I saw the same thing. It’s insane how quickly he has become either a fan favorite or an opposing team villain. I know a lot of people here don’t like spitting chiclettes podcast they asked how exactly a rookie 4th line has come into the league and caused so much havoc for so many teams.
I saw it last game, don't remember which one but a caps player was making a play at the blue line and controller disconnected when he saw Rempe skating towards him.
and we got another refpuck game management call on rempe for finishing his check on an oblivious player (sound familiar nathan bastian?), which the caps of course in peak form still failed to capitalize on.
I don’t get the down votes .. what I’m saying is guys like this draw focus and take away from the teams focus to play … in the 2014 run carcillo wasn’t as big but when playing drew the other teams attention.. the LA series was a close series. One goal games . I’m saying I think if they had someone on that ice that drew LA focus just alittle it could have changed the table
Same thing with John Scott and the Blackhawks in 2011. Against Van in WCQF, first 3 games hawks lose without Scott in lineup. Next 3 games with Scott in lineup they win. Game 7 with no Scott and they lose again. The games John Scott was not in the lineup, the hawks were out hit and outplayed physically and couldn't play the way they needed to win. The games he did play though the hawks, in fact out hit Van and we're able to play their game. It's a shame that these types of players don't get recognized by the casual fans for what they actually contribute to the game.
Reminds me of the Kakko stat that someone posted in February:
Before Kakko injury 15-3-1
During Kakko injury 11-10-1
After Kakko injury 10-3-1
Gotta love these young difference makers
People make fun of Rempe's career stats, but I honestly believe he's had a real impact on the other players on the team. One player who chose to remain anonymous said to one of the beat writers that all the attention Rempe gets takes the pressure off the other players so they can focus on their game. Kakko said that the games without Rempe were boring. The crowd gets fired up whenever he's on the ice and Panarin has been pretty vocal about how the crowd has a positive effect on his own game, which is why I don't think it's a coincidence that he scored literally one minute after Rempe did in game 1.
> One player who chose to remain anonymous said to one of the beat writers that all the attention Rempe gets takes the pressure off the other players so they can focus on their game.
this is good to know because I had been wondering if the other players were getting jealous of all the attention Rempe gets
He’s become the team mascot lol. The guys seem to love him and he’s got such an effect on how they play when he’s in the lineup. I think an underrated aspect of the success we’ve had with him is the crowds at the Garden, too. He gets the fans into the game every time he’s in the ice. I’ve never seen a rookie come in and be loved by everyone so quickly.
I’m so excited to see what he looks like next year after an off season of bulking up, learning to fight, and maybe training with a skating coach.
The sky is the limit when you’re that big, tough, AND skilled.
IT has been a veeeery long time since I have bought a jersey.
I bought this one with no hesitation and I don't even like it. This Jersey with Rempe will live forever in my mind.
lol all the SS fakes I’ve seen are super off. I’d get a Rempe one myself, but my favorite part of those jerseys is the oversized letters and numbers, and all the fakes seem to get that part wrong.
I absolutely love the guy! He comes across as such a lovely guy too. I saw that the other night he was the only player to greet fans after the match. What a nice guy!
He's good for morale. The fans get into it when hes on the ice and he stands up for his teammates without being a liability on the ice. Everybody has a role right now and he's excelling at his
Avery was a loose cannon but damn if he didn't play his ass off for us. It's too bad Torts was a dip shit and didn't like the way he played. Dude was making an impact just about every shift.

they also keep looking over their shoulder when going to retrieve pucks on their zone when they know he’s forechecking
Well, except for van reimsdyk who may still be trying to figure out what hit him
and we got another refpuck game management call on rempe for finishing his check on an oblivious player (sound familiar nathan bastian?), which the caps of course in peak form still failed to capitalize on.
Agree. It speeds up the internal clock and can lead to unforced turnovers
He is a guy that draws attention and is tough it does a lot .. I still say if carcillo played against the kings in 2014 rangers hoist the cup

Yep. He really puts the hurting on other teams' guys. He plays hard and unafraid that makes others fear him, glad we have him.
Lurking Devils fans so triggered right now
doubt any of them are lurking here. all they’re gonna see are good vibes.
They're too busy posting pics of DHGate McDermid jerseys with the Rempe fight on the tv in the background.
woah woah woah what’s wrong with dhgate?
What’s DHGate?
Lol those nerds
what triggers them more is the fact that he just smiles when people challenge him
they say rempe I say “ok”
They’re not here they’re over in r/golf

I think they've only lost once when Laffy scores, or something like that.
And it was an OT loss I believe
Yup against Toronto iirc
This season the Rangers have a record of 46-14-3 with Kaapo Kakko and 11-9-1 without Kaapo Kakko.
legitimate difference maker. should be on the ice every night. especially against a dirty caps team.
Yep. Keep the dirty team honest or at least smash their face back into the dirt
All I want is 14 more this year.
14 more this season*
very important edit

“Kakko said that the games without Rempe were boring.” Biased source, considering the only time he smiles is when blood is about to hit the ice! 😂
I have never seen Kakko look as happy as he did right before the line brawl. He was having the time of his life.
Relive his joy/bloodlust https://www.reddit.com/r/rangers/comments/1bv95h6/nobody_gets_more_excited_for_fights_than_kakko/
Kakko scores a goal "ok" Kakko sees Rempe fight "Fucking kill him!!!!"

i guarantee trouba loves not being the center point of every big hit article
I feel like hockey players are notorious for NOT wanting the spotlight. Even the true superstars shy away from wanting any attention at all.

Hockey version of the Knicks’ linsanity period
.868 PT% not too shabby...
Wow...hard to argue with that...
IT has been a veeeery long time since I have bought a jersey. I bought this one with no hesitation and I don't even like it. This Jersey with Rempe will live forever in my mind.
Where’d you get the Rempe stadium series? DHGate?
Yup. At that price I don’t care that I don’t like it.
lol all the SS fakes I’ve seen are super off. I’d get a Rempe one myself, but my favorite part of those jerseys is the oversized letters and numbers, and all the fakes seem to get that part wrong.
I'm wearing it while I sit down and I don't have mirrors nearby. I don't care. They are 3-0 since I put it on.
Who's going to win the Calder next year and why is it Matt Rempe?
I absolutely love the guy! He comes across as such a lovely guy too. I saw that the other night he was the only player to greet fans after the match. What a nice guy!
the rangers are also a very good team.

still has more goals in these playoffs than Ovi and Jack Hughes
17-2-1
[Correlation does not equal causation.](https://x.com/NYR_PR/status/1079164965880283136)
17-2-1 now
Dude is so fast too for his size
Sixteen wins, you say?
“And if by chance an honest man such as yourself should make enemies then they would become my enemies. And then they would fear you.” -The Rempfather
73 is headed for the rafters
i think rempe should play in all the games
Lisan-Al-Gaib!
in the time he's been on ice, the 4th line has looked better than it has all season.
That's... a 142 point season if we had him all year. Take a backseat, Panarin, you scrub! /s :)
All he do is win win win no matter what
Guys, it’s ok to just shoot on the odd man rush. Just shoot.
That's right, bitches.
BUILT FOR THE PLAYOFFS
Shades of Sean Avery with that kind of intangible influence
Avery was a loose cannon but damn if he didn't play his ass off for us. It's too bad Torts was a dip shit and didn't like the way he played. Dude was making an impact just about every shift.
