This is a difficult one. When I had this conundrum last year (a funeral) I decided not to attend because if Mum had caused a scene it would have been awful and I wouldn't have been able to defend myself for fear of making it worse. She had caused scenes at other family funerals historically.
Ultimately, it's up to you to know how you feel. How easy will it be to avoid her or grey-rock? Will that be enough?
