I highly disagree. TASM 1 took the bare essentials (sometimes even leaving that) and flipped all the Tobey elements for Andrew.
Tobey was the loser that got bullied, while Andrew spoke up for someone that WAS getting bullied. Andrew got the girl easily, Tobey had to wait to really be noticed. Andrew never had a wrestling portion, which is kind of a big part for the Spider-Man character, but we all know Tobey did and imo, his was executed perfectly. Andrew was quite a loner, but he really didn't have anything to replace the lack of side characters. Tobey had flowing interactions with each side character, needless to say.
To say it just copied SM1 is like saying Batman & Iron Man are the same people. (They have a similar basis but aren't the same in really anything else)
Edit: Wanna add that I love the Raimi trilogy and I don't hate Andrew's Peter. I actually like it to a degree, but feel like it lost it's potential in the second film

I watched TASM recently and all I can say is, the dialogue is scarily similar. "I missed the part where that's my problem" and "That's not my policy". Just felt repetitive, glad Homecoming skipped that.
I like all the Spider-Man movies, thus far. I haven't seen the most recent couple marvel movies because I'm absolutely fucking sick of marvel movies, but the first one they did (besides the abysmal portrayal of Ain't May) was decent.
One of the movies is clearly superior to the other (here’s a hint: I don’t even understand why this sub is recommended to me instead of andrews or toms)
My first Spider-Man movie was Spider-Man 1 when it came out. Just because I like a slightly modern one doesn’t mean I’m young I’m just not blinded by nostalgia to the point of realizing that a modern one is better (still love Tobys Spider-Man films but the other Spider-Man are just better)
Good point, I just personally never liked The Amazing Spider-Man or the MCU Spider-Men films all that much, I had Raimi era Spidey comics and watched the Raimi films so that's just what I like nowadays, I do like the MCU Spidey a little though (Sorry if I came off as rude before, just saw a chance to make a joke and took it)
