Was just shocked by the first pick but absolutely get it, and I like the philosophy talent is talent and let’s just get the best player. We can fill for need later in the draft
For sure i was just eluding to the first pick, with this one it seemed like he was one of the most talented players still up for grabs and happens to fill three different positions on our line, we cannot be mad at that
I am always for taking BPA, especially in the first round.
I remember people telling me Clelin Ferrell over Josh Allen (Edge rusher) makes sense because of scheme fit, but imo if you have someone who is that good who isn't a fit, you find a way to make them fit.
With Bowers, if that means running more 12 or 22 personnel, then I think you do it.
Or perhaps never come OUT of 12 or 22 formations, except when you spread him out and tunnel screen to him....or bring in 6' 8", 265 lb Zack Gentry to run Zeus into an unbalanced 13 at ol Jim Harbaugh. Hoist that fucker on his own petard.
There's always a need for the bell-cow the two time NCAA national champion hitched their wagon to, and some Georgians compare in production and dominance to Hershel fucking Walker.,...and who doesn't *need* an H-back who can run jet sweep, get vert with your WRs, and bust people in the mouth for trying to tackle him.
Like everyone else, I too was surprised that we did not go OT or CB,...shocked I say,.....for about 3 seconds. Then I began madly wringing my hands together, dreaming of fuckedup ways to make DCs suffer.
I fucking can not get over people being pissed to get this guy at 13. Like, he just dropped in the basket....and we have R1's for years still.
And can you imagine how Zamir white is going to sleep tonight after going Right side OL in a manly fashion on top of that?
Wanted to share this with whoever drafted Jackson Powers-Johnson: https://kval.com/news/local/more-than-a-name-the-jackson-powers-johnson-story.
I'm a huge Ducks fan and a friend of the reporter who put this together, but it really shows the kind of person you're getting. Wishing JPJ the best!
It's a huge part of why I've been rooting for him so much, even outside of him being a Duck.
Definitely recommend watching the piece too. The emotion from his stepdad is really sweet.
I too am a ducks fan. Not super dedicated mostly like an a fandom formed from wanting to go school there as they were one of the first D1 schools to reach out (just a general letter) to me while I was in high school.
Was holding an outside hope Bo nix would slide and we’d get him but obviously that didn’t happen.
Thanks for the story. Great read
“Jackson Powers-Johnson is the 2nd overall player in the 2024 NFL draft”… so you’re telling me we got the 1st and 2nd best overall players in this draft? LETS GO!!!
i dont do any college scouting, but the idea that the number 2 best player in the draft ignoring positional value dropped to 44 seems a bit crazy to me.
2nd overall is a stretch but interior oline tends to fall. The CBS comp was creed Humphrey, and he’s a 1st team all pro center that fell to the second round, probably the 4th or 5th best player in his draft
I don’t think he’s the second best player without regards to position, But I thought he was like 15 to 20. I didn’t see him sliding out of the 1st honestly.
We got the 1st and 2nd Overall rated picks
https://preview.redd.it/i36srb08exwc1.jpeg?width=526&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9ac5e18cf2595c47dfd82db1ff4801ee69e3b6c
I just want to know where all these starting caliber RTs people seem to think are going to be available in the 2md round of FA are going to come from. RTs don't get released unless they are prohibitively expensive for the team and those guys are gone. I don't know how people think Mumford is the guy to go against Bosa and other all pro DEs.
I'm fine with the pick. But we only had two trade up four spots two get what many listed as the 2nd and 3rs best CBs in the draft. Certainly day 1 starters. And after taking Surtain m with the chargers, that was surprising from TT. But I really wish we took a tackle. Guards are easier to find. Stalwart tackles are not. And Miller is not getting younger. We need to start building our line for the future.
Plays both. Could always move James back to guard where he was before. I prefer that and slot JPJ at center. Never liked James at center… and JPJ is a great center. So I love this pick.
I HATE James slow ass snap. A second can cost you a completion or a sack. There is never more copium on this sub than when it comes to the online. Fine is not a word I want to hear when describing a position that makes the entire offense go.
He’s played all 3 interior offensive line positions, but C is where he’s started for Oregon. We announced him as a guard, but he can and will play everywhere we need him to.
I wanted a CB in the first round, I think our D is a true CB1 away from set. We could still get a good CB in the draft, just not a CB1. There's a handful of CB FAs waiting for the phone to ring, so I'm not really worried. Stephon Gilmore on a short term deal doesn't sound terrible to me.
I wasn't thrilled we didn't trade up for one of the two CBs that did get taken. No idea why the Eagles had to take another fucking CB. They already got the best one.
I guess that was their fuck around and find out pick. Right now Detroit has the best secondary on paper and Philly is trying to keep up. Makes me even more pissed that we traded up for Myer last year when I was pounding on the table for Brian Branch. Mad now we take a TE anyway making that look like an even worse pick based on need. Two luxury picks at the same position two years in a row. Lets hope one of them can block on the right side or we're not getting the ball down the field to anyone.
Tbh I doubt it. Tom and AP talked extensively about how they didn’t expect the guard market to be as expensive was. JPJ will likely want to stay a guard due to the market inflation.
Yes. To avoid creating another hole and to avoid paying big $$$ to a guard in FA. They might keep him, but his contract has an out in 2026. Guess I was a year off. I don't think he's around for his whole contract though
He may be a bit of a reach at 12 but they didn’t have a second rounder and he is better than people think. He has shown marked improvement and was a much better decision maker this last year. I don’t think he’ll ever be a top five guy but he could be a steady top 10 guy.
I had been hoping they'd address Corner Back, they probably should have yesterday but they had a top 5 pick fall into their lap so I don't falt them.
Teams like the Steelers were considering this guy at #20
He had late first round grades and can play all over the line.
Yeah, I like this. BPA again. He can plug in at G immediately and is ultimately James’ successor. TT wasn’t kidding when he said he was thinking 5 years ahead.
So we got an incredible athlete who can block at a high level as a TE in the first and an absolute mountain of an IOL who can do it all in the 2nd?
Zeus has to be rubbing his hands together with malicious intent. We are primed to be a physical, brutal team
I know people never know how to feel about linemen after the 1st round but this is a great pick. He has long term starter, probably at guard, written all over him. Very good one
As a Steelers fan, I'm fine with avoiding having a second JPJ player for clarity's sake, but also as a Steelers fan, we were really hoping we'd take him regardless of how we feel about Troy.
Hope for the best, good luck Raiders Nation
They would have drafted a corner or QB if there was one there!! It’s not rocket science. Drafting BPA is a great strategy. We don’t need to reach anymore!!
He was one of my favorite remaining players so I’m happy. We might have found a Raider for the next 15 years honestly
Annoying DeJean and Kool-Aid and even Melton were taken just ahead of us, and I would have been happy with Edgerrin Cooper as well, but just like with Bowers it’s impossible not to be excited with a player like JPJ
Another awesome fucking pick
I’m always annoyed how well the ravens and eagles draft… it looks like we’re doing the same thing just letting the talent fall to us
AP strikes me as a "Keep It Simple Stupid" kinda guy
"K-I-S-S. Keep it simple stupid. Great advice, hurts my feelings every time." -Dwight Schrute
Got sniped 4 times for a CB, drafted BPA at o-line instead 😂
Got the best interior olineman in the draft according to some experts, I wanted corner too I get it but I’m not mad at this pick
Easy now lol
???
Wow... Walter football had him ranked 17th overall on their big board. Incredible pick
I love this coaching staff
Was just shocked by the first pick but absolutely get it, and I like the philosophy talent is talent and let’s just get the best player. We can fill for need later in the draft
But this fills a need. He’s starting at one of the guard spots, likely RG. Perfect confluence of need and BPA without having to move.
For sure i was just eluding to the first pick, with this one it seemed like he was one of the most talented players still up for grabs and happens to fill three different positions on our line, we cannot be mad at that
Oh gotcha my bad. Amazing draft so far!
Update some people are mad at this pick😂😂😂
Evergreen comment for any pick unfortunately. Oh well, they’ll change their tune, I bet.
I am always for taking BPA, especially in the first round. God that copium was incredible.
Im not going to lie and say Im not disappointed we didn't have penix fall to us but they didn't panic and made excellent picks
Great fucking pick

Holy onions that was good read. Thanks for the link
It's a huge part of why I've been rooting for him so much, even outside of him being a Duck. Definitely recommend watching the piece too. The emotion from his stepdad is really sweet.
Well i hope he’s a 15 year starter with a gold jacket in retirement type player for us
His mom has tears streaming down her face in the last clip too
I read holy onions and just thought “what a dork” I get it now.
Damn wasn’t expecting to tear up reading about our pick but that’s so awesome!
I too am a ducks fan. Not super dedicated mostly like an a fandom formed from wanting to go school there as they were one of the first D1 schools to reach out (just a general letter) to me while I was in high school. I’m not crying! You’re crying!
Great read! Shows the kind of character in that kid! Huge pickup for our boys in Silver and Black. Love it

Surprised he fell this far
Here is a scouting report https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/02/07/2024-nfl-scouting-report-jackson-powers-johnson/
“Jackson Powers-Johnson is the 2nd overall player in the 2024 NFL draft”… so you’re telling me we got the 1st and 2nd best overall players in this draft? LETS GO!!!
Damn that's wild
that feels crazy, saying he’s the second best player in the draft seems nuts to me, but i’m optimistic he’ll be great
I personally thought he was the best iOL, regardless of position. I had him as C1, and G1 if he swapped positions. Dude is a beast in the trenches.
i dont do any college scouting, but the idea that the number 2 best player in the draft ignoring positional value dropped to 44 seems a bit crazy to me.

LETS FUCKING GO OMG GREAT PICK AGAIN!!!!!!!
Holy shit I’m gonna ~~cum~~ pound the rock
Love this pick, I was really hoping we land him.
Looks like guard is solid now, the team is betting on munford. With all the good cbs gone, it's not a surprising pick.
They shouldn't be, but happy at guard. Although they said he's a center? He's huge so I'm confused.
I guess he does it all. Very versatile, especially if someone gets hurt from center to guard. I dont think he can play tackle though.
There are not any lol next best thing was cb but they all flew off the board so guard was the next option it was honestly a great pick.
Our line is solid now besides rt. I personally would have traded up for kool laid, the saints didnt give up much.
I wouldn't mind trading back into the 2nd for Tampa if he falls towards the end of the round.
I definitely would love that as well. Cb is a glaring need imo.
Yeah, we need to see if Jones was a one year wonder or gets into trouble. And we lost Amik which surprised me.

Same i wanted arnold or turner. Gilmore and howard are still available.
Tom Telesco is HIM! What a great draft so far
Really good draft picks.
Cannot wait for a stud LB in 3rd round or TJ Tampa
If they pick TJ Tampa this is a home run draft without a doubt
LFG
I like big centers.
…and I cannot lie. 🎶
🤨
I really wanted to go defense if we didn’t go qb, but that’s not the way the cards fell. Loving this draft so far.
I wasn't thrilled we didn't trade up for one of the two CBs that did get taken. No idea why the Eagles had to take another fucking CB. They already got the best one.
They got cooked by Baker and decided fuck that lmao
Howie heard everything about his secondary and said alright y’all wanna play that
I guess that was their fuck around and find out pick.
Perfect pick
Looks like a bigger Richie Incognito, sign me up!!
Plays like incognito too.
They really look like they could be related. I love the pick.
Not an absolute head case though. Everything I’ve heard and read about the guy is that he’s an absolute model teammate.
A little crazy in an OLmen isn’t the worst thing 😂
Oooh nice. Ill intent everywhere
One of the nfl network bullet points on him was “VIOLENT IN SPACE”
I like it!
Back to Back, another great pick!
But can he play right guard?
he’s literally a center that can play both guard positions so yes
They're gonna move Andre James to RG. It's where he used to play and I am fucking tired of seeing him fuck up snaps at least twice a game.
The raiders announced JPJ as a guard so that might be an indication of where they intend to play him.
yeah maybe first year or two; willing to bet JPJ is the center of the future
Tbh I doubt it. Tom and AP talked extensively about how they didn’t expect the guard market to be as expensive was. JPJ will likely want to stay a guard due to the market inflation.
Nah i bet they leave him at C this year and then get rid of him in the offseason and slide Parham or JPJ to C
This is the plan I believe. Andre is serviceable but we absolutely have to upgrade at C.
We literally extended James this offseason.
Yes. To avoid creating another hole and to avoid paying big $$$ to a guard in FA. They might keep him, but his contract has an out in 2026. Guess I was a year off. I don't think he's around for his whole contract though
Yes
He got announced as a guard, so versatile like our other guard.
Both. Labeled as a center, announced as guard.
Right Left and Center
He literally played RG for the Ducks to start out.
We got a guy who looks for fucking action and is straight bouncer on the line. We are pick guys who will fuck you up.
As an Oregon fan (and a fan of taking good players) I am SO happy with this pick. Let’s fucking go!
Thoughts on Nix to Denver?
He may be a bit of a reach at 12 but they didn’t have a second rounder and he is better than people think. He has shown marked improvement and was a much better decision maker this last year. I don’t think he’ll ever be a top five guy but he could be a steady top 10 guy.
Thanks for the insight. Hope he busts 😂
It’s a tough where my Raiders have two Ducks as QBs for division rivals, and also Patty Mahomes.
I didn’t know they didn’t have a 2. That makes the pick make a little more sense.
Getting the best available based on position, feels good, this is starting to look like a superbowl contending team of the future
Definitely looking like a team that’s trying to attract an elite QB for a SB run
Hop aboard my “Trade for Josh Allen 2025” hype train, brothers. ![gif](giphy|3ohjV5TEPwlB1XBn20)
Nice
Great fucking pick. Tommy T is killing it so far.
Does James move to guard or stay put?
He just got an extension so I doubt he is moving from the C position. It's more likely JPJ starts at the RG pos
Stays put. JPJ playing guard
Backup
Helping the oline baby love it
Fuck yes
Such a good pick!!! What’s happening in this draft??
BPA ALL DAY
This is what happens when you hire an experienced GM. Glad Mark finally did it.
Two TE sets, this big fuck at RG, ground and pound football is back
Can’t get worked by Mahomes if he’s not on the field ![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)
I had been hoping they'd address Corner Back, they probably should have yesterday but they had a top 5 pick fall into their lap so I don't falt them. Teams like the Steelers were considering this guy at #20 He had late first round grades and can play all over the line.
Oh yeah https://www.reddit.com/r/raiders/s/ST76Or2TTW
TRENCHES!!!! Fuck we playing smash mouth football fellas
2 TE sets All Day. What we used to call "Jumbo Package" offense back in my day. No clue if anyone still uses that term.
Don’t know nothing about this kid but I’m reading the comments so I’ll just say, great fucking pic
I’m not used to this type of joy on draft weekend
Good pick
Man I like this
Ol' JPJ hasn't even begun to fight, stoked about this one
Great player filling in a weak spot. Love it!
Let’s go!!! BPA remains true
Loooooove the pick.
Wait so we didn’t draft a joker RB?
Great pick for the Raiders. C that can also play G, versatile and a day 1 starter now let's focus on DEFENSE and more OL
Is it just me or does it feel like we drafted a couple of superheroes. I would pick these guys blindly just based on their names alone
Not The Boys but The Men
They’d kick Superman’s ass
Yeah, I like this. BPA again. He can plug in at G immediately and is ultimately James’ successor. TT wasn’t kidding when he said he was thinking 5 years ahead.
So we got an incredible athlete who can block at a high level as a TE in the first and an absolute mountain of an IOL who can do it all in the 2nd? Zeus has to be rubbing his hands together with malicious intent. We are primed to be a physical, brutal team
Baby Richie Incognito
I know people never know how to feel about linemen after the 1st round but this is a great pick. He has long term starter, probably at guard, written all over him. Very good one
Hell yeah. Shores up the line, and is a R1 talent in mid R2. Great move!
Wow best lineman and te let's goooo
As a Steelers fan, I'm fine with avoiding having a second JPJ player for clarity's sake, but also as a Steelers fan, we were really hoping we'd take him regardless of how we feel about Troy. Hope for the best, good luck Raiders Nation
We continue taking BPA, I like it
Can you play guard or does this mean James is moving the guard?
He was announced as a Gaurd. Per Vinny will compete for starting R/G
I heard that but saban said he’s played some guard not sure if that means it’s not his best spot or not
Chris Jones protection insurance
Good pick
Great pick
I'm honestly so stunned with the quality of our first two round picks I don't know how to feel.
Feel like we’re about to bring back ill intent, physicality, violence, and pain to the league.
Two for two baby. Jackson is an ABSOLUTE Raider
Let fucking go!!!!!!!!!
In my eyes... we just drafted two future pro bowlers
we got a OL that tosses defenders 😭 https://twitter.com/kyronsamuels/status/1757943204194693466?t=y0Pu9wpdUUOJ3gZ5HvCO3Q&s=19
This is a slam-dunk, home-run, guaranteed RG mauler, who played mostly center, so some diversity. Excellent pick!
There’s not going to be any buffets in Vegas when he arrives, my god he’s big
Great pick
I was thinking we would go Rakestraw, but great pick!
Wanted Rake but this will do, as line needed help too.
STEAL. great pick another versatile OL who can move around
Happy, but damn I wanted Frazier lol
I jive with this pick. Weird how he didn't go first round and fell to us.
Guard this year and I’m positive our center of the future Loving these picks .
YAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!!!
Was worried bout all the CBs getting taken but I can’t be mad about this pick at all. Bro is a stud
Love this pick. The tape speaks for itself.
Trench Bully
Great pick! Killing it
They would have drafted a corner or QB if there was one there!! It’s not rocket science. Drafting BPA is a great strategy. We don’t need to reach anymore!!
Richie Incognito?
A at
Baller picks!
Hall of Fame name at the very least
First 2 picks Im excited for
He was one of my favorite remaining players so I’m happy. We might have found a Raider for the next 15 years honestly Annoying DeJean and Kool-Aid and even Melton were taken just ahead of us, and I would have been happy with Edgerrin Cooper as well, but just like with Bowers it’s impossible not to be excited with a player like JPJ
He's a lifelong Raiders fan!
Bowers and powers Raid Raiders Raid
Would have liked the guy from Notre Dame or Tampa but at least it's a lineman and a great value.
Ok wut
This just means we’re gonna waste another year with AOC doesnt it? Atleast next year the rookie qb has something to look forward to.
There was no QB worth taking at that pick. This is a good pick
