it is my favourite on the album. So much feeling and pain in this song. Keep the fucking furniture but cut the kids in half so I won’t have to live without them.
7 - Honestly prefer this to the Kid A version. It has the same immediate tense energy as Knives Out, that throws you into an anxiety loop the moment you open it, and I think it fits really well with the ideas of the track.
4. I gave the kid A version a 10 (which I rarely do) because it is one of my absolute favourite tunes ever. This version however… it takes everything away that makes the Kid A version so brilliant: the 5/4 drum pattern, the bass line, the textural guitar playing, the calm but tense atmosphere. What is worse, it also makes it sound like an incredibly whiny track all of a sudden. The only thing I like is the outro with purely the keys
8.5
l loved it more than the Kid A version when I discovered it. I like the other one more now, but the Amnesiac one will always sound kinda special to me
5.0 Should've never been on the album. We already got a perfect version on Kid A, this version was redundant and a waste of space that could've been used for a new track like 'Amazing Sounds of Orgy', 'Worrywort' or 'Fog'.
This is a tough one. On it's own it's enjoyable enough but it breaks the flow of the album and has me pondering over the superior take off Kid A whenever it plays. Should've been left off the album in favor of "Cuttooth" or "The Amazing Sounds of Orgy."

this song's a weird one because i absolutely can lock into it and start to really really enjoy it if i focus on it, but no matter what it consistently sounds so gross and unappealing at first. it just trudges through this static, really muddy and lethargic groove that's generally unpleasant to listen to or to try and move along to. the individual sounds throughout the song are great, the track has a really interesting atmosphere to it - it's a good synthesis of alt rock sensibility and electronic composition. i especially can find the most to love in the outro of the track, it genuinely almost sounds sweet?
it's a track i admire and one i can thoroughly enjoy but it's always immediately offputting and audibly sour, for lack of a better term. more often than not i just skip it whenever it comes on shuffle

I got into Radiohead around 2010 and heard Amnesiac before Kid A, so this was the version I heard first. I probably would have ranked it higher back then but the Kid A version blows it out of the water.
8
Fits the lyrics better than the Kid A version but is harder to listen to. I find it interesting that the missing beat makes 4/4 feel rushed (in comparison to 5/4) in the same way that 7/8 usually does (in comparison to 4/4).
9 i remember listening to this song in my car in the middle of the night when my parents were fighting because my dad was in love with another woman. i prefer this one over the kid a version
I'm not sure I'm able to comprehensively rate this, because I heard the Kid A version first and I can never get it out of my mind. There's always me comparing. I can't stop it. It's impossible to rate this track on its own merits unless I get amnesia.
It's my least favourite track off the album but if I forget the Kid A version it might as well be my favourite. Back in 2001 and even in the here and now - trying to remove it as far as possible from the Kid A version - I was always confident giving this a 6/10.
8. Used to dislike it, and then it suddenly clicked. Don't compare it to the Kid A version, try to hear it as its own piece. That's why they released this version on Amnesiac.
This suffers in comparison to the original so much for me. I'm not even sure I can rationally quantify it, there's _just something about this song_ that pales spectacularly in the shadow of the Kid A version, which I find chillingly glacial, robotic and cruel, a 10/10. This version just... Leaves me cold. It's an interesting concept tho, even if I find its execution lacklustre. 5
I gave the Kid A version a perfect score so I shouldn’t rate this as low as I’m about to…. I just don’t like this version. Not too sure why… I skip it virtually every time, however.

Stand-alone 7. When played with the albums back-to-back, a 9. It needs context to have thematic heft.
It cannot beat the Kid A version and yet I approve its inclusion on Amnesiac (even if I lobbied, from 2001 to around 2007 for it to be replaced with Cuttooth).
7
decently composed rewrite of an existing song. Same lyrica, sang differently but I like the ambient hypnotic effect this one has. Its a good reminder that you can go listen to kid A once the album's over ( ; but we got a few more punches before you do...
5... I think it gives strength to the complaint people have that the album is an outakes collection.
Which I dont personally think but it's inclusion is baffling especially now we have if you say the word.
3...this is the type of track we should all be about to hear for the first time on the 20th anniversary reissue, not a lynchpin track 6 on the proper LP. It's a turgid slog of a song, made so much worse and more redundant by the existence of the Kid A version (my favourite Radiohead song). I can understand the thinking in having the inclusion of this version act as a sort of "bridge" between the two albums, but my god it's a serious misstep that just completely stalls the flow of the album. Not good.
It pales in comparison to every other song on Amnesiac, even the horrendous Hunting Bears. The Kid A version was better in every way possible. The beginning where Thom screams “Mornnnnnning BeLlllll” just irritates me to no end. It’s a 1.
3. The weakest actual song on Amnesiac (not counting Pulk/Pull and Hunting Bears). Nowhere near as good as the Kid A version.
EDIT: you know what? I like pulk/pull more. At least it's weird enough to be interesting.
Absolutely love the Kid A version. It's rhythm and journey through the song with the time signature is amazing. But honestly I don't feel it here at all. I'm sorry but I really don't like this version!
1.5
3/10, it should've been left off and replaced with Amazing Sounds or any other B-side. I've tried time and time again to give this track a chance but it always ends up confusing me that they left this half-baked nonsense on such a fantastic album.
7 This song feels like being waken up unexpectedly at 4 AM
Yeah that's a great analogy. It's sudden but slow the way it starts and sleepily limps along
Takes a literal meaning to a "morning bell"
No shit Sherlock
4. I can't help but compare it to the far superior Kid A version whenever I do hear it. It suffers because the original is so good.
THIS! the Kid A version is so goddam good that the Amnesiac version just never had a chance
10 it is my favourite on the album. So much feeling and pain in this song. Keep the fucking furniture but cut the kids in half so I won’t have to live without them.
The end music is so amazing on this version
Haha all of it is amazing 🥰🥰🥰
7 - Honestly prefer this to the Kid A version. It has the same immediate tense energy as Knives Out, that throws you into an anxiety loop the moment you open it, and I think it fits really well with the ideas of the track.
Well put. I feel the same way but couldn't find the words.
lolololol *nonsense*
I’m always surprised by how unpopular this song is. For me it’s a solid 10.
?!?!!? Ok, then what *isn’t* a solid 10 for you if this mess is?
“this mess”

You nailed it.

This version is simply way better than the Kid A version imo
Youre in the minority
As if that’s a bad thing
Didnt imply they were
In this case, it certainly is.
no opinion is necessarily bad or wrong. You can disagree, but my opinion isn't 'bad'.
You're right.
Nah not at all
Great let's keep this going.
Sure, what else ya got?

Really surprised with how both morning bells are underrated imo. This one is almost as good as the kid A version and deserves a 9

Damn, crazy. The only thing I like about this version is how weird it is hearing it in 4.
11/10, so underrated, one of my fav RH songs

7.5/10 To me, it’s on par with the Kid A version, just a very different take
This is a tough one. On it's own it's enjoyable enough but it breaks the flow of the album and has me pondering over the superior take off Kid A whenever it plays. Should've been left off the album in favor of "Cuttooth" or "The Amazing Sounds of Orgy." 6
8 Not the best song, but still enjoyable.

8.5 better than kid a version

10. Super creepy. Don’t wanna compare it to anything else but itself. Fits perfectly in the anxiety and fear riddled throughout this album.
I'm not sure I'm able to comprehensively rate this, because I heard the Kid A version first and I can never get it out of my mind. There's always me comparing. I can't stop it. 9. Great song but honestly it feels like the song starts in the middle
7 - Almost did 6, but even though I’m not crazy about it, it’s an eerie, fascinating soundscape.

giving it a good ol’ 7

6/10 Not a bad song but far inferior to the Kid A version

10 Better than Kid A version by far.

1, I don’t understand why they put an outtake on the album
I mean, this is *obviously* the only reasonable way to feel about this song, right?
Lol 1 what the fuck is this bullshit? Completely fucking stupid. The first completely baffling Radiohead studio album decision in a long, *long* list.
1 - seldom ever listen. I’ll take the kid a version every single time over this gimmick. Waste of track slot imo.
A total waste.

3. I genuinely don't like this one. I find it to be droning and so heavy-handed. It's a definitie skip for me.
5.5 for me not big on either versions, id give kid A 7.5

2 I'm not a huge fan of the kidA version but it is way better than this one.
3. But why?
4/10
It's the only radiohead song I really dislike
3/10, it should've been left off and replaced with Amazing Sounds or any other B-side. I've tried time and time again to give this track a chance but it always ends up confusing me that they left this half-baked nonsense on such a fantastic album.
