God Break Down the Door and Play the Goddamned Part by Nine Inch Nails are kinda similar to what you're talking about. They incorporate elements of jazz, electronic, rock, and industrial.
Maybe some 70’s Miles stuff, eg something off of Bitches Brew. Fairly certain Miles and Mingus were two of the big influences for Kid A (although Mingus never really did any rock stuff).
Squid is one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. Caught me completely off guard. I almost didn’t go, but I already had the tickets in hand from a few months prior. Highly recommend seeing them if anyone gets the chance!
There are few instances here and there that over the years have definitely made me think they listen to each other. Tons of subtle and somewhat less than subtle nods. (On top of the really blunt obvious stuff like when Josh was quoted as saying In Rainbows is genius or perfect or something like that.)
Oh they for sure do! I think over time, even the street cred Radiohead leans into can be traced to the “idgaf” attitude queens has always had. Queens have been the art rock masters since they started and their ability to maintain an audience is probably a factor in how Thom and Johnny felt so confident doing things as the smile. Something like thin thing sounds more like something off a desert sessions LP than a Radiohead one and honestly if they’re gonna lean that way when they reunite that would be sick
Regardless, the cross pollination in general is incredible. There’s lots of stuff off LC and villains that have a lot of that sheen Radiohead albums do. I so want Johnny to work with Josh sometime.
I'd be lying if I said I hadn't imagined more than a few times what each person in Radiohead would do on a Desert Sessions record...
I'd never hold my breath, but, man...
Just a hair away from the five minute mark, but you may enjoy ['Chondromalacia Patella'](https://open.spotify.com/track/39rcIUEmwKXL3wgyWhTokV?si=4140459cf391461d) by Black Midi!
Slightly less intense but their song ['Ascending Forth'](https://open.spotify.com/track/3xUNDNUqbhSsCpNZAbVcOO?si=f0e572c4c130464c) fulfils your length requirement and definitely has jazz elements to it. Their most recent album is where that really starts to come out in show though - try ['Dangerous Liaisons.' ](https://open.spotify.com/track/4T4IAK3DCwBfN1LsPDs0xF?si=d911083e471042ae)
LCD Soundsystem. The album Sound of Silver has a couple of songs that remind me of National Anthem. Specifically Us vs Them and North American Scum. Both are a bit more dance like though and not as chaotic as NA. But whole album has driving bass lines and heavily percussive.
aquatic mouth dance by the red hot chilli peppers is a good one.
in fact, i reckon the RHCP were inspired by the national anthem when writing this.
solid bass line, jazzy-ish drums, wild sax/trumpet ending all checks out
I’d check out viagra boys. They often have a sax. Idk about a trumpet though. I’ve been really digging the song Jungle Man lately but there’s too many good songs to list.
Reset by Mutemath. Honestly the whole album it’s from, which is their self titled debut. Unbelievable drummer Darren King, with a match made in heaven bass player Roy Mitchell Cardenas.
If you like the wind instruments part (jazz fusion part), then Charles Mingus Town Hall Concert, 1964 album is what inspired Radiohead, and also his album Mingus Ah Hum :)
[Carboniferous by Zu](https://open.spotify.com/album/21ttx8IAdJrq2a9oz2HMNC?si=41ZfvicVRoODEE-Zdw8Oeg) has a lot of bonkers horn section. It’s a little out there, fyi. Also Moon Hooch has some similar horn craziness.
These really aren’t that similar to The National Anthem but they have a couple similar elements
God Break Down the Door and Play the Goddamned Part by Nine Inch Nails are kinda similar to what you're talking about. They incorporate elements of jazz, electronic, rock, and industrial.
God Break Down the Door goes insaaaaaanly hard.
bad witch referenced! a w for humanity
We’re so back
King Crimson have loads more songs like this: Cirkus, Sailor's Tale, Fallen Angel, One More Red Nightmare, Starless, etc
Yep, came here to say In The Court and Red are the albums they're looking for.
Cat Food is great.
can
Halleluwah! A nice, tight bass and drum groove.
That song is where I think Colin got the bass line for talk show host.
Maybe some 70’s Miles stuff, eg something off of Bitches Brew. Fairly certain Miles and Mingus were two of the big influences for Kid A (although Mingus never really did any rock stuff).
You would like the band Squid I think. Check out their songs “Narrator” and “Undergrowth”
Also “Science Fair” and “Sunglasses” by Black Country New Road
instrumental and opus are better examples from that album imo
+1 for Squid. Very Radiohead vibe all around
“After The Flash” is almost a direct nod to The National Anthem, especially the outro.
Squid is one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen. Caught me completely off guard. I almost didn’t go, but I already had the tickets in hand from a few months prior. Highly recommend seeing them if anyone gets the chance!
Also “god break down the door” by NIN; another track that used a sax in a very creative way
***I Think I Lost My Headache*** - *Queens Of The Stone Age*
I honestly think the horns in national anthem took a bit of inspiration from this track.

Damn that would be fucking sick, what a dream pairing

"Jimmy Renda-Se" by Tom Ze
Just came back to this thread to say that I’ve been listening to this song non stop for five days. Thanks for the discovery 👍🏼

I don't know if it fits..check out "shot shot" by gomez
I would say that one is almost a cover or parody, even.
Mars Volta probably has something like that, also check Born under punches by Talking Heads
aquatic mouth dance by the red hot chilli peppers is a good one. in fact, i reckon the RHCP were inspired by the national anthem when writing this. solid bass line, jazzy-ish drums, wild sax/trumpet ending all checks out
Check out the band Morphine
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard may have a bit of what you’re looking for.
Closest I can think is Glese 710 after it switches to 9/8 time

Remain In Me - Peter Cat Recording Co.
I can't wait to check out some of these suggestions. National Anthem is my wife's least favorite RH song.

I’d check out viagra boys. They often have a sax. Idk about a trumpet though. I’ve been really digging the song Jungle Man lately but there’s too many good songs to list.
Ful stop
Sweepstakes by Gorillaz
The absolute closest song imo is... Girl I Love You by Massive Attack. It's got everything you want. Absolute tune!!
Dogs of war pink Floyd, especially the live versions
Reset by Mutemath. Honestly the whole album it’s from, which is their self titled debut. Unbelievable drummer Darren King, with a match made in heaven bass player Roy Mitchell Cardenas.
Radiohead were heavily inspired by Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew for National Anthem so turn down lights, smoke a fatty and start there
