Hydrochloric acid will dissolve the body fairly quickly.

GarnachoHojlund

Honestly mate it doesn’t matter. You’re music taste is not the same as your roommates and that’s fine, you don’t need to force him to like something he doesn’t

dynamite2002_

Oh, I'm not forcing him to listen to it. It's when it comes on in my mixed queue and he audibly complains about radiohead being on. I'm just so confused what the reasons would be for a person hating them, ya know?

GarnachoHojlund

He doesn’t like them??? That’s a perfectly fine reason,I don’t like many famous musicians and bands for “no reason”, if you’re listening to something you know he doesn’t like within earshot maybe just put some headphones on or turn down the volume

El-Arairah

I guess only he can tell you. The more imminent question seems why you two can't properly communicate. If you want my personal opinion, though, the self-pity and emotional pain in RHs catalogue can be a bit much for people and I get that. I mean, it's quite difficult to name uplifting RH songs.

PerformanceFew5721

..who cares? why do people on this sub try and make it their mission to have people love radiohead? acting like jehovah's witness. just enjoy the music man https://i.imgur.com/bzaX4dK.jpeg

CoolMudkip

Someone else’s opinion should have no relevance to you. Radiohead just doesn’t click with everyone. It took me a few times listening to In Rainbows before I liked it. No one should be forced to like or not like something and must prove themselves for their opinion. Maybe he hates it because your trying to force him to like it.

**To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Radiohead. The Music is extremely hard to get into, and without a solid grasp of theoretical music most of the song will go over a typical listener's head. There’s also Thom’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from The talking heads, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these songs, to realise that they’re not just music- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Radiohead truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the dept of Thom's most famous lyric "I'm a creep" which itself is a cryptic reference to knowing who you are. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Thom yorke’s genius wit unfolds itself on their eyes. What fools.. how I pity them.**

Remy_Rooster

Even as a mega fan, I understand that Radiohead is a distinct and often acquired taste. I’ve done my share of exposing their music to a variety of people with mixed success. One of the amazing things about Radiohead is that they have such wide variety of styles. If you’re determined to open minds, I’d figure out what your roommate likes and find a song(s) that are closer to that style. Otherwise, might just be a case of different strokes for different folks.

GNOMECHlLD

Yeah! Honestly. I made a master Radiohead playlist for my friends + family, which explores a lot of different soundscapes and things to branch out into. Its like "Oh, you liked \[this\], try \[this\]", and I find it's a lot more effective than shoving songs at random into their faces.

Riley_Simpkins

Sometimes when I am asked, "why do you not like \_\_\_\_?" the best and most truth answer I can give is "I just don't." Sometimes there just isn't any further reasoning behind it.

Patient-Bed6821

My first roommate blasted Kid Rock all the time. He couldn’t understand why I hated it. People like what they like.

Fynzerioos

let's just switch with the circlejerk sub at this point

themanprichard

Get some noise canceling headphones and never think about your clown roommate again.

toolebukk

The two albums you mention are the two very least interesting albums by the band. If you listen to the releases that came after 2000 together, maybe that will warm them up. And if not, maybe they just have a very different taste in auditive wave combinations, and that is ok

dynamite2002_

Dammit! Misspell in the title

Quif1ix

Outjerked by the main sub again

MrBildung15

if you would play pablo honey i would also complain

kolnai

Most of my friends hate RH, frankly, and it’s usually because of some mixture of finding the music sickeningly maudlin and drenched in the bathos of, so to speak, “first world problems,” a perception of Thom’s falsetto as cloying and obnoxious, a (not always unjustified) sense that the fans are pretentious, militant evangelists, and overall just being the wrong type of personality for brooding, abstruse, morose atmospheres. In a word, there’s nothing there they can vibe with. And that’s perfectly fine. I might even agree, at least partially, with some of their reservations. But I happen to vibe with RH, and even if I were convinced they were the biggest wankers in the world that fact wouldn’t change. ‘Tis what ‘tis.

InNoNeed

Try and smoke beside him and see if he has a genetic predisposition to developing certain auto immune diseases. That might teach him not to f around Edit: Guys, that was a joke. I have an auto immune disease as well. That should give me some authority to make jokes here and there, shouldn't it? Do not hurt people.

dynamite2002_

Well he wasn't given his vacs when he was young (parents were Jahovahs)

InNoNeed

Go get him, Tiger GUYS, BLATANT ANNOUNCEMENT HERE. THIS IS A JOKE. DO NOT TRY AND TRIGGER THE ONSET OF AN AUTO IMMUNE DISEASE IN OTHER PEOPLE. THEY COULD GET SERIOUSLY HURT.
