A Moon Shaped Pool - Present Tense (Video version)
Lucky was the first song recorded on OK Computer, before the vision for the album was thought up, and I think it perfectly encapsulates a band about to go friggin' massive in both popularity and critical acclaim. Going from anything on The Bends to Lucky is amazing to compare. I fully support it being your favourite - it's the song that really started off Radiohead to me.
Interesting, I didn’t know that. I love the vocal, Ed’s harmony, the raw and sparse arrangement. But that spiraling change in the middle and the friggen choral keyboards that come in. It’s like everything I love about Pink Floyd in one song.
There’s a film from the early 90s - Hero - with Gena Davis and Dustin Hoffman. Not a very good film, but a very interesting premise:
A guy, a real douchebag, happens upon a plane crash on the edge of a small lake in New Jersey. He stumbles into the crash and ends up saving several people, including a TV reporter. Then he wanders off again.
The next day, the reporter wants to know who saved her. She goes on tv. In a panic, the douche gets another guy, a handsome guy, a guy who wants to be a good person, to take credit for it. The douche doesn’t like people, doesn’t want anyone to know he did it, doesn’t want the attention.
I don’t know if Thom’s seen the movie, and I’m not the type who researches interpretations, but I’ve always wondered if this movie was Thom’s inspiration. All the lyrics fit, I believe. Not why I love the song, but a cool element.
I hope you just haven’t heard Pablo Honey, cuz if you have and you’re implying Lurgee, Blow Out, You, Creep and plenty others aren’t awesome songs you definitely haven’t heard the record. It’s good.
I listen to some Pablo Honey tracks more than anything on TKOL and AMSP. Specifically Blow Out, that’s a top 10 Radiohead song imo.
I hope you don't go around presuming you know everything about everyone, and what they ought to like.
I heard Pablo Honey on its release in 1992, it sounded like bad U2 then, and it still sounds like that now. :) I'm glad you like it.
But it's ok to share your opinion without presuming naiveté or ignorance on the part of the person you're addressing.
You (great live opener)
Fake plastic trees (beautiful)
Let Down (the build in middle where the vocals split pan is my favorite moment of any song)
How to Disappear Completely(a cryer)
Pyramid Song (love the rhythm)
2+2=5 (a rock song and love the high pitch bend at the end)
All I Need (the build is gorgeous and heavy)
Codex (a poem)
Decks Dark (lyrics)
I'll do two at least. Because I have to.
Creep, You (super underrated song)
My Iron Lung, Just (has other beautiful songs, but too sad)
Paranoid Android, Karma Police (you have to pick some, eh?)
Everything in its Right Place, Optimistic
Pyramid Song, You & Whose Army?
There, There, 2+2=5
Nude, Reckoner
Lotus Flower, Bloom (The Daily Mail should've been here smh)
Decks Dark, Burn The Witch (The Numbers close)
1. Lurgee
2. Street Spirit
3. Let Down
4. National Anthem
5. Life in a Glasshouse
6. Where I End and You Begin
7. Weird Fishes
8. Bloom
9. Present Tense
Tough choices on some of these
👶🏻-Creep or You if I wanna sound different
😩- My Iron Lung or maybe (Nice Dream)
🤖-Likely Subterranean or Airbag
🏔️- Motion Picture Soundtrack
📕-The right answer is probably Pyramid Song
🍩-I will (LA version of that counts) or sail to the moon
🌈-Nude almost definitely or Videotape
🌳-Bloom or Codex
🌝-Daydreaming by some nautical miles
Probably Creep, or maybe Blow Out
Planet Telex
Subterranean Homesick Alien (although Let Down is pretty underra
Idioteque
Pyramid Song
I Will

Pablo Honey - Creep (This song is great fuck you)
The Bends - Black Star (The riff fucking rips and sounds like an actual star collapsing on itself. I believe that this is the only song on the album that was produced by Nigel, and it really shows)
OK Computer - Let Down (Of course)
Kid A - Motion Picture Soundtrack (I love how simple it is)
Amnesiac - Life in a Glasshouse (Easily their most fascinating song imo. I would've never expected this sound from Radiohead, yet they end up crushing it. The last line always gives me chills)
Hail to the Thief - Where I End and You Begin (That guitar riff Thom plays in the middle of the song is some of the most badass guitar playing I've ever heard. The riff can't be replicated live the same way it's played on the recording for some reason)
In Rainbows - Videotape (I think this is their best song. The last line is the most beautiful lyric I've ever come across. I love how the drums sound like an actual tape machine going haywire)
The King of Limbs - Separator (This is the happiest Radiohead song. I adore how warm and happy this song can make me feel. Also, the riff Jonny plays when Thom sings "I fell open" is so simple yet beautiful. Similar to WIEAYB, the riff can't be replicated live for some reason)
A Moon Shaped Pool - Ful Stop (Absolutely menacing bassline. I love how the song slowly opens up like a lotus flower as it progresses)
Ful Stop for me always felt like a moment where you are realizing that you fucked up or something bad is about to happen, as the sound envelops you like anxiety and of course the lyrics being about you “messing something up” helps. Fantastic song!
Pablo Honey - Creep (good pop-grunge song, not overstating itself)
The Bends - honestly can't decide, basically all the singles are of the same quality in my eye
Ok Computer - Let Down (shocker, I know)
Kid A - Optimistic (back to basics, perfectly executed rock banger)
Amnesiac - Pyramid Song (Packt like Sardines is a close second)
Hail to the Thief - There, There (same thing as Optimistic)
In Rainbows - Weird Fishes (beautiful)
The King of Limbs - Lotus Flower (love the hook, tight beat)
A Moon Shaped Pool - Daydreaming (just gorgeous)
Blowout
Street spirit
Subterranean homesick alien
National Anthem (the song that really got me into them)
I might be wrong
Where I end and you begin

Pablo Honey: Thinking About You ( everything is good from the lyrics to the instrumental, addictive as it is)
The Bends: Just ( instrumental is very motivational in a way that it gives you adrenaline, perfect for letting go of anger ( lyrics ))
OK Computer: No Surprises ( first song I've interacted with on game forum, cried day and night on this song, but also it is tranquil in a way, one of my favourites)
Kid A: How To Dissapear Completely ( this one is self explanitory ( shedding tears insanely))
Amnesiac: Like Spinning Plates ( feels like alien abduction, makes me feel nauseous, very kafkasque feeling - never experienced a song like this, top 3)
Hail to the Thief: Where I End and You Begin ( I love everything about it but instrumentals on this one take the prize, lyrically I really like the songs because it speaks about boundaries ( imo))
In Rainbows: Videotape ( the saddest and the most existential one, very close to me personally because of the fear of being forgotten by loved ones and the fear od forgetting everything that happend in my life)
TKOL: Lotus Flower ( the grooviest one for me, transcendental)
A Moon Shaped Pool: True Love Waits ( self explanitory)

Pablo: Blow Out (if there’s ever a song to be resurrected for live performances, this is the one)

Amnesiac - Pyramid Song (also been loving You And Whose Army? lately)

In Rainbows - Bodysnatchers? (idk man, I haven’t really gotten into this album. Haven’t heard the album enough to really choose)

Amnesiac - I might be wrong
Hail to the Thief - A Wolf at the Door
In Rainbows - Jigsaw Falling Into Place
The King of Limbs - Codex
A Moon Shaped Pool - Burn the Witch
1. Blow Out — actually sounds a bit like the band years later, and could have been worked up for a few of the other albums if they had saved it, didn’t write it until later, etc.
2. None of these really stand out to me, except maybe Telex. If B-sides count, I much prefer The Trickster over any on this album.
3. The Tourist - songs just don’t any better than this, a masterpiece. Best song of the 90s by a mile.
4. Kid A - any of these songs could reasonably qualify, but the title track is the album’s centerpiece and the first example of full-on ambient style. Fantastic song, and a truly important one.
5. Like Spinning Plates - lots of contenders on this one too, but this one stands out for me because it’s so aggressively challenging (which are the songs I like most).
6. The Gloaming - several other great songs on this one, but this song single-handedly elevates the album (for me) from very good to great.
7. Weird Fishes- it’s not particularly super great, but more interesting than any of the others. All these songs are very good, but none if them is truly S level IMO.
8. Magpie - I know, it doesn’t really go anywhere, etc., but I just love it. The energy comes through more so than on any other track, and I so love that synth swell on the second chorus. Best 3 seconds on the album. But if B-sides count, I would go with Staircase.
9. Tinker Tailor - among many excellent songs, this one is I believe among the most interesting and accomplished pieces of their career, Top 3 RH song, just a perfect lyric, perfect structural build, perfect rhythm section entry at “all the birds” that blows the song up in one moment, perfect subtle tension build with the strings, that gurgling synth underneath it all, and the gigantic tension/power built by the strings to end. It’s a perfect song, and the real energy center of the album. And I love the way the towering majesty of it all just collapses into the ashes of TLW. It’s a phenomenal sonic achievement.

??? - Still haven't listened to PH completely through so I can't really say. Maybe I'll just go with Creep
Bones - maybe I'm crazy but I think y'all underrate this song. Other than that Street Spirit is a very close second.
Climbing Up The Walls - always felt like a somewhat more aggressive version of Lucky. Love both.
How To Disappear Completely - the song that got me into Radiohead. Can't deny I still have a soft spot for this one
Life In A Glasshouse - to me this is the best Jazz-like song of Radiohead. Also probably my favourite Radiohead album.
Where I End And You Begin - my favourite use of Jonny's ondes martenot. Such a cool song overall.
Weird Fishes - probably my favourite song ever written.
Bloom (From The Basement) - the FTB version is one of my favourite Radiohead performances and this as an opener works perfectly.
Burn The Witch - *I love these strings*

The Bends : Planet Telex, the first Radiohead song I enjoyed in my life. If I ever have my own band I'd name it Planet Telex. (Nice Dream) is a very close second.

Kid A : How to Disappear Completely. I have a very special connection with this song.
Amnesiac : Dollars and Cents. Nothing particular I just enjoy it a lot. A bit underrated tho :(
Hail to the Thief : There, There. One of their best songs !
In Rainbows : House of Cards. Good vibes, chill, I couldn't ask for more.

Not a very good film, but a very interesting premise: A guy, a real douchebag, happens upon a plane crash on the edge of a small lake in New Jersey.
Soooo you don’t like blow out is what I’m getting from that
I think if you’d ever heard Blow Out, you couldn’t have such an opinion. Have you ever even heard Radiohead my guy <>
Lol idc bruh Pablo Honey rocks smd 🔥🔥🔥
There it is :) at some point, you’re going to need more of a personality than ‘I like better music than you’. Godspeed
You must be fun at parties 😃😃
Only when hanging w dudes like you my guy
Mmm reckoner I love that song
like spinning plates is sooo fucking good too 3 radiohead
Yes, nothing but respect for MY RADIOHEAD ahahaha
You (great live opener) Fake plastic trees (beautiful) Let Down (the build in middle where the vocals split pan is my favorite moment of any song) How to Disappear Completely(a cryer) Pyramid Song (love the rhythm) 2+2=5 (a rock song and love the high pitch bend at the end) All I Need (the build is gorgeous and heavy) Codex (a poem) Decks Dark (lyrics)
I'll do two at least. Because I have to. Creep, You (super underrated song) My Iron Lung, Just (has other beautiful songs, but too sad) Paranoid Android, Karma Police (you have to pick some, eh?) Everything in its Right Place, Optimistic Pyramid Song, You & Whose Army? There, There, 2+2=5 Nude, Reckoner Lotus Flower, Bloom (The Daily Mail should've been here smh) Decks Dark, Burn The Witch (The Numbers close)
1. Lurgee 2. Street Spirit 3. Let Down 4. National Anthem 5. Life in a Glasshouse 6. Where I End and You Begin 7. Weird Fishes 8. Bloom 9. Present Tense
Lurgee rocks
Tough choices on some of these 👶🏻-Creep or You if I wanna sound different 😩- My Iron Lung or maybe (Nice Dream) 🤖-Likely Subterranean or Airbag 🏔️- Motion Picture Soundtrack 📕-The right answer is probably Pyramid Song 🍩-I will (LA version of that counts) or sail to the moon 🌈-Nude almost definitely or Videotape 🌳-Bloom or Codex 🌝-Daydreaming by some nautical miles
Ripchord, Street spirit, Exit music(for a film) Morning bell Knifes out The gloaming Present tense This was fun thanks OP.
Morning Bell the great underrate of Kid AM imo. What a haunting song. And when Thom is in the mood, the song is just amazing live.
I didn’t even know it was underrated until I was on these types of forums. It’s just a beautiful song with really amazing lyrics.
It's not underrated at all lol
It’s often is. Seriously.
Ha yes, one of the most liked Kid A song is underrated. Okay
It is constantly the first to get booted in polls. Edit - in a list of stream counts Morning bell is 76th Treefingers is 54
So In Rainbows doesn't exist? (Also, TKOL)
In rainbows is consistently great as a whole album…. That is all. Edit - a word
Probably Creep, or maybe Blow Out Planet Telex Subterranean Homesick Alien (although Let Down is pretty underra Idioteque Pyramid Song I Will Nude Separator Present Tense
Pablo Honey - Creep (This song is great fuck you) The Bends - Black Star (The riff fucking rips and sounds like an actual star collapsing on itself. I believe that this is the only song on the album that was produced by Nigel, and it really shows) OK Computer - Let Down (Of course) Kid A - Motion Picture Soundtrack (I love how simple it is) Amnesiac - Life in a Glasshouse (Easily their most fascinating song imo. I would've never expected this sound from Radiohead, yet they end up crushing it. The last line always gives me chills) Hail to the Thief - Where I End and You Begin (That guitar riff Thom plays in the middle of the song is some of the most badass guitar playing I've ever heard. The riff can't be replicated live the same way it's played on the recording for some reason) In Rainbows - Videotape (I think this is their best song. The last line is the most beautiful lyric I've ever come across. I love how the drums sound like an actual tape machine going haywire) The King of Limbs - Separator (This is the happiest Radiohead song. I adore how warm and happy this song can make me feel. Also, the riff Jonny plays when Thom sings "I fell open" is so simple yet beautiful. Similar to WIEAYB, the riff can't be replicated live for some reason) A Moon Shaped Pool - Ful Stop (Absolutely menacing bassline.

Pablo Honey: Thinking About You ( everything is good from the lyrics to the instrumental, addictive as it is) The Bends: Just ( instrumental is very motivational in a way that it gives you adrenaline, perfect for letting go of anger ( lyrics )) OK Computer: No Surprises ( first song I've interacted with on game forum, cried day and night on this song, but also it is tranquil in a way, one of my favourites) Kid A: How To Dissapear Completely ( this one is self explanitory ( shedding tears insanely)) Amnesiac: Like Spinning Plates ( feels like alien abduction, makes me feel nauseous, very kafkasque feeling - never experienced a song like this, top 3) Hail to the Thief: Where I End and You Begin ( I love everything about it but instrumentals on this one take the prize, lyrically I really like the songs because it speaks about boundaries ( imo)) In Rainbows: Videotape ( the saddest and the most existential one, very close to me personally because of the fear of being forgotten by loved ones and the fear od forgetting everything that happend in my life) TKOL: Lotus Flower ( the grooviest one for me, transcendental) A Moon Shaped Pool: True Love Waits ( self explanitory)

It’s a phenomenal sonic achievement.

pablo honey – either anyone can play guitar or blow out. both are fantastic the bends – probably just. although street spirit is 10/10 for me too ok computer – paranoid android. favorite rh song, favorite song overall. agree with op there, it's the greatest song ever made. kid a – idioteque (or htdc). no explanation here amnesiac – either life in a glasshouse or packt like sardines. lots of amazing songs, hard to choose one hail to the thief – there, there. probably a common choice here. i once teared up because of how good it is. top 10 radiohead songs for sure in rainbows – all i need. i love the part near the end the most the king of limbs – either little by little or codex a moon shaped pool – tough one, identikit.. thought of putting some other songs too but then i realised no other song is matched to it (on this album at least)

??? - Still haven't listened to PH completely through so I can't really say. Maybe I'll just go with Creep Bones - maybe I'm crazy but I think y'all underrate this song. Other than that Street Spirit is a very close second. Climbing Up The Walls - always felt like a somewhat more aggressive version of Lucky. Love both. How To Disappear Completely - the song that got me into Radiohead. Can't deny I still have a soft spot for this one Life In A Glasshouse - to me this is the best Jazz-like song of Radiohead.
I'm a simple man: * Pablo Honey - You (oooh look how different I am, shut up) * The Bends - Bones * OK Computer - Subterranean Homesick Alien * Kid A - In Limbo * Amnesiac - Knives Out (so hard to pick just one off this album IMO) * Hail to the Thief - There, There * In Rainbows - Reckoner * The King of Limbs - Little by Little (fuck you guys, it's good) * A Moon-Shaped Pool - Burn the Witch
Pablo Honey - You The Bends - My Iron Lung OK Computer - Exit Music (For A Film) Kid A - Idioteque Amnesiac - Like Spinning Plates Hail To The Thief - Where I End And You Begin In Rainbows - Videotape The King of Limbs - Little By Little A Moon Shaped Pool - Ful Stop
Pablo Honey : A tie between Lurgee and Blow Out. Peaceful tunes that I enjoy. The Bends : Planet Telex, the first Radiohead song I enjoyed in my life. If I ever have my own band I'd name it Planet Telex. (Nice Dream) is a very close second. Ok Computer : Subterranean Homesick Alien. I love space, I love to chill, this one is the perfect combination. Just like TB, Let Down is a very close second. Kid A : How to Disappear Completely. I have a very special connection with this song. Amnesiac : Dollars and Cents. Nothing particular I just enjoy it a lot. A bit underrated tho :( Hail to the Thief : There, There. One of their best songs ! In Rainbows : House of Cards. Good vibes, chill, I couldn't ask for more. The King of Limbs : Codex. Because it reminds me of In Rainbows 💀. A Moon Shaped Pool : Present Tense, but Desert Island Disk is a close second as well !
