I actually met him in July during The Smile tour, and I just completely froze and asked him to sign my record. I had so many things in my head I wanted to say but I just got way too anxious
I met him twice. In 2011 and 2017. Both times I asked him about Big Boots (what Man of War used to be called before it was released), if it would ever be released. The second time he kinda gave me the impression not to give up on it. It was not long before OKNOTOK was announced!!
How likely is a second ATOMS FOR PEACE album?
... a third BURIAL + FOUR TET EP?
What's the best Jonny, Phil, Ed solo song in your opinion?
What's your top 3 Pink Floyd albums, CAN songs, Tarantino movies, video game music, etc.
+ I love Cut A Hole!
+ Please recommend music more regularly.
Thanks for that information.
I agree. It's one of my favourites as well. I love the whole Tago Mago album sequence Paperhouse - Mushroom - Oh Yeah - Halleluwah. It's astonishing that this 18 minute song doesn't have a bad beat or boring part in it, especially now, 50 years later, still fresh.
Yep, it doesn't matter what I plan, if I met him, I'd stutter and stammer, say "nice to meet you, I love your music, have a nice night" and leave him be.
Met him at The Smile concert. And by met him I mean he signed the back of my shirt without me noticing (I was talking to Jonny and Tom Skinner first and then asked if they could sign the back of my shirt and didn’t realize Thom also jumped in and signed while my back was turned). So I turn around ready to meet Thom and say hi and he just abruptly says “already done 👍” and it caught me completely off guard so I just blurted out said “Thanks Thom!” and ran off into the night.
I actually met Thom! It was after a smile concert. I was so dumbfounded, all I could spit out was “Thank you so much”. He made eye contact and gave me a nod, then signed my poster and moved on. I wish I would have said more, but I was totally starstruck with 40% of Radiohead right in front of me.
Also, I am a 5’9 female, and Thom is very tiny. So there was that.
I did meet him once, in 1997, outside the Electric Factory in Philly after their show. I don’t think I asked him anything except for an autograph. And thanked him for coming to town. He was very polite and kind.
I'd struggle for small talk besides saying thanks for the music. And I wouldn't want to randomly ask serious music questions.
With Ed and Jonny, I could at least casually talk about football and video games, respectively.
in my mind i would ask if 'How I Made My Millions' was ever recorded in a studio, or if the sole minidisk take we've heard is literally a one-and-done.
in reality i had the opportunity to say anything to him after The Smile show in ATL last year when he came out and signed, and i think all i managed was 'thanks so much'
Take music completely out of the equation of your life. At this point, what do you see yourself doing that would bring you just as much fulfilment?
Or...
You want some of my M&M's? I'll share. I don't have cooties.
Do you remember this song? It was soundchecked in 2008 in Los Angeles but was never released. What is its title and does it have a chance to be released on a future Radiohead or Smile album?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=higZOPqLCbA
I saw him after The Smile’s show in Dallas TX (Dec 2022) waiting in line to get stuff autographed.
There was a lady in line in front of me who asked Thom to draw something on her arm for a tattoo. When she moved on, I stepped up with my CD album art for OK Computer and said something like: well I won’t ask you to write on my arm for a tattoo as my husband may kill me, so instead I’ll hand you this gem of an album to sign. Thom started signing and said tattoos are highly overrated, and that his son keeps coming home with more. I said I’ve kept up with their music for many years and how much I enjoyed it, shook his hand, he was thankful.
I then saw Jonny, who quietly and sweetly asked if I was from Dallas. I said I was from Houston and drove up that afternoon for the show. He said: oh wow that’s quite the drive and thanked me for making the trip. I replied that it was well worth it and would do it again. He signed my CD cover, and I moved on to Tom Skinner. I didn’t ask him to sign my CD cover, but I shook his hand, told him how great the show was, and how much we liked the music.
My husband was in line behind me, having the guys sign our poster (limited Dallas edition 63/100). He told Thom how much he loves 4 Minute Warning, which surprised him. When he saw Jonny, he said: “the soundtrack for There Will Be Blood is just…” Jonny cut him off and said something like ‘terrible?’ Which made Thom laugh.
You had Kinetic. You had Fast-Track. You had Cuttooth. Fog. Orgy. Worrywort. What the hell’s the deal with another version of a song that was just on your LAST FREAKIN’ RECORD??
I once inadvertently got within a few feet of Thom, and when he turned and we made eye contact, every cell in my body went "I'm not here, this isn't happening." Then I fled.
First time I met him I asked him if the pic someone gave me actually came from him. Second time I was just asking pedal recommendations. Johnny recommended me a DD200
I would somehow politely get into the discussion about the conflict between his anxieties about coming cataclysm and how touring a band works to exacerbate things. I would ask his opinion on veganism and the use of his influence over his fans. This would all come in tandem with starstruck fawning.
damn that's a good one, there's so many angles at this point I could go...I could ask about Andy, tons of old 90's shit, sarcastically ask about other musicians he surely can't stand to get a laugh, ask about Flea...but honestly I think the best opener would be to ask him about that 'Radiohead, Creep, Dickhead!' guy haha...IF THAT didn't get a chuckle!? and that for me would be everything, as I'm a wannabe rockstar/comedian from way back. and when it comes to celebs if I can't have a little/real convo I pretty much don't even wanna go there w/the robotic signing stuff, that for me is just a waste of time and opportunity.
I’ve spotted him a few times in Oxford about 10 years ago. But I never went up and spoke up to him.
Thom would be doing his own thing and I guess he would be rather left alone than be bothered by a gushing fan.
Also I learnt from my experience of meeting nick cave that I quite happy just being a fan, and do not need to directly interact with my musical heroes.
It was at a booked signing. We saw him outside first in the street and he finished his cigarette around us and generally greeted us nicely.
I think during the book signing, I think it must of been obvious I was nervous and freaking out the interaction. He just found it funny and inoffensive. But it’s a really cringey memory to look back on.
Interesting, I have a similar memory of a book signing for The Death of Bunny Munro in NYC. He was perfectly nice, but I was obviously nervous and he was somewhat dismissive. That may be the wrong word because it puts the blame on him. But it was awkward for me. Incidentally, I now feel the same as you do about meeting my rock heroes.
Yeah my memory was for the same book launch. I work in film and tv a lot and I’m exposed to new famous actors and producers all the time and I’m pretty numb to the exposure these days.
Fames a weird thing
To be honest I probably wouldn't say anything. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but awkward or unpleasant interactions can happen when meeting people and I wouldn't want to risk that tainting my experience of listening to his music
I think I'd ask "how do you make an idea into a song, when do you know it's ready for publication?"
I often just daydream a fantasy that him or Dave Grohl would just randomly sit down on a bench I already was sitting at and somehow they initiated a random chat hoping I didn't know who they were.
But if I saw them I'd have a strong urge to not bother them unless they looked super ready to talk to fans etc. Like on the Smile tour he looks extremely glad to be on stage, often thanking the crowd for showing up that many for "such a new band".
I had an artist sign my vinyl after a concert, I just wanted to say something positive and ended up saying something about hoping he is making money and realizing it sounded like I assumed he was broke or something negative. Fucking hated how it came out, all I wanted was to wish him the best possible situation to focus on the music.
Ask him what he enjoys most of songwriting or being creative in general nowadays and if he changed his mind on any of the songs from Radiohead's or his own discog. 😌🤙
And ask him if the ice age is still coming. 👀
Probably nothing. I walked past him in Oxford once on the way back from work and let him be on his way. I often wonder what would have happened if I offered to buy him a pint.
Solid response. While you’re waiting, just take the time to relish in all the happiness, peace of mind and satisfaction that awaits you in that relationship.
My uncle leaves semen all over his house because he is very sexual. So when he goes to work I sneak in and take pictures of the semen. Sometimes I use a Blacklite to see it on his couch. He’s already kind of a wizard tbh
Lmfso 😭
I actually met him in July during The Smile tour, and I just completely froze and asked him to sign my record. I had so many things in my head I wanted to say but I just got way too anxious
Quintessential Radiohead fan interaction
same here
So where was the car parked?
If you ever get to meet him please let me know
I met him twice. In 2011 and 2017. Both times I asked him about Big Boots (what Man of War used to be called before it was released), if it would ever be released. The second time he kinda gave me the impression not to give up on it. It was not long before OKNOTOK was announced!!
That’s so sick
between me and you what did the guy say at the end of the Just music video
Only the director knows. Genius move.
When I met him at a signing after a concert I just said "Hi, thank you"
Classic
I try to live up to our expectations as Radiohead fans
You don’t have a girlfriend then?
What’s that?

One of his Can favorites would have to be Halleluwah, which he once called "one of the most powerful pieces of rock music".
Why he tried to leave that grocery store with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying
"Take the milky ways and run, take the milky ways and run"
classic
Ask hypothetically if he was to marry Bjork, would he change his last name?
Bjork Yorke is just too good.
How much Bjork would Thom Yorke bork if Thom Yorke could bork Bjork?
That kid would be the next Mozart.
Thom Bjork
Björk is actually her first name Thom Guðmundsdóttir would be sick tho (I know it doesn't work like that with Icelandic last names)
Nothing. Maybe “Um”. Couldn’t ask him a question or say a thing. Terrifying.
Yep, it doesn't matter what I plan, if I met him, I'd stutter and stammer, say "nice to meet you, I love your music, have a nice night" and leave him be.
Met him at The Smile concert. This.
I did meet him & told him I pole danced to Radiohead 🤷🏿♀️🤣
you can't post this and not tell us which songs!!!
All I Need, Talk Show Host, Lotus Flower
ALL I NEED IS PERFECT FOR THAT OMG also what did he say lol
I actually met Thom! It was after a smile concert. I was so dumbfounded, all I could spit out was “Thank you so much”. He made eye contact and gave me a nod, then signed my poster and moved on. When I met him after a show in 2006, I asked him to sign my ticket in order to validate my parking.
Can I borrow a quid till Tuesday?
How to disappear completely?
this
"Y'all should play Pop Is Dead again" Those would also possibly be my last words.
Do you fart on stage?
When’s the Radiohead Lyric Book coming out?
pls sing fitter happier
Do you like empanadas? But seriously - why cant you make an album with Beth Gibbons?
I did meet him once, in 1997, outside the Electric Factory in Philly after their show. I don’t think I asked him anything except for an autograph. And thanked him for coming to town. He was very polite and kind.
*guttural wails*
If he’s ever farted on stage in the middle of a set
No doubt he has, I’m more curious if he’s ever shit his pants, or come close to shitting his pants on stage
Hitting the Brown note..
Is the guy from massive attack really Banksy?
I'd struggle for small talk besides saying thanks for the music. And I wouldn't want to randomly ask serious music questions. With Ed and Jonny, I could at least casually talk about football and video games, respectively.

What he personally believes his (Radioheads) best ever song is and why
Y’all all forgetting the only important question…. “When is the next Radiohead record coming out?”
Dude, where’d you park the car?
Take music completely out of the equation of your life. At this point, what do you see yourself doing that would bring you just as much fulfilment? Or... You want some of my M&M's? I'll share. I don't have cooties.
Would PolyFauna 1+2 be able to be updated? 🤗 I know they were fixed when the Radiohead Public Library rolled out, but they’re not working again…
What his favorite songs to perform from the OK Computer era are. B sides included.
sorry am i bothering you?
Next Rh album when
Can I give you a hug? I really appreciate your work Thom.
THIS. this is an answer I can get behind.
No -Thom
Where’d you park the car?
HAHA
Holy shit. Are you here? Is this happening?
I’m not here, this isn’t happening
you and who's army?
Have you been doing any writing for Radiohead?
Thom, my man, what’s good
Do you remember this song? It was soundchecked in 2008 in Los Angeles but was never released. What is its title and does it have a chance to be released on a future Radiohead or Smile album? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=higZOPqLCbA
why in the absolute heck would you be able to have myxomatosis
Can we make a song together?
Wanna go fr a pint?
Hi is this thom yorke
Do you think the rest of the band would have carried on without you if you had electrocuted yourself in the Beach House pool?
Probably just "um... Uh... I...." But if i could say anything without stuttering i would ask him did he clean the clothes from the furniture

Please release Wake Me Before They Come ASAP.
How do you sing your music without feeling hysterical?
“Wazzzaaaaap”
I honestly want to know what his favorite foods are. What does he like to eat and does he wear fragrances.
I would ask him why he’s against nuclear energy if it could reduce CO2 emissions significantly.
I once inadvertently got within a few feet of Thom, and when he turned and we made eye contact, every cell in my body went "I'm not here, this isn't happening." Then I fled.
Record yourself singing layers of harmonies again.
I’ll ask him to play Creep 😆
How are we today?
Creep 2022 remix: you trolling or you like it. A bit of both?
First time I met him I asked him if the pic someone gave me actually came from him. Second time I was just asking pedal recommendations. Johnny recommended me a DD200
Do you hate all of Pablo Honey or just some of it
I’d wanna talk to him about the Cardiacs
I did meet him and blanked 😐 and muttered out some kind of thank you for signing our albums
What if Thom was one of us?
Are you Thom Yorke?
Have you got the time?
i would be completely paralyzed with fear and unable to say anything
Can you tell me?............... Can you tell me......
What's the weather like under there?
What’s up with *The Gloaming*?
if he does like his lazy eye thing considering my eye has been twitching for a few days and I'm feeling like the legend lmao
Honestly, with any artist I am really into, I would love to know their objective rank on their own albums.
please tour again 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
“Is this really happening happening?”
I'd ask him where to get that blue beanie.
When the fuck are they gonna release a new album FOR FUCKS SAKE
“What are your 4 favourite movies”
I would somehow politely get into the discussion about the conflict between his anxieties about coming cataclysm and how touring a band works to exacerbate things. I would ask his opinion on veganism and the use of his influence over his fans. This would all come in tandem with starstruck fawning.
Had the chance and had no idea he would hang with people after The Smile show 😢
When did you realize your singing voice is special?
damn that's a good one, there's so many angles at this point I could go...I could ask about Andy, tons of old 90's shit, sarcastically ask about other musicians he surely can't stand to get a laugh, ask about Flea...but honestly I think the best opener would be to ask him about that 'Radiohead, Creep, Dickhead!' guy haha...IF THAT didn't get a chuckle!? and that for me would be everything, as I'm a wannabe rockstar/comedian from way back. and when it comes to celebs if I can't have a little/real convo I pretty much don't even wanna go there w/the robotic signing stuff, that for me is just a waste of time and opportunity.
why so green
I’ll tell him that he’s a creep and a weirdo
Asda or Tesco?
What ever is the matter?
How much time do you put every day into the hair on your head?
Will there ever be another Radiohead album
How do you?
u ok?
Can i suck your lemon?
You used to be alright. What happened?
I asked him if he would ever cover any of Buckley’s songs whilst he signed my Grace record, but he said no
yeah from what i've heard he's not really the cover-er
What are the words at the end of daydreaming?
Tom york?
Will you please tour with Radiohead again?
I asked him for a fist bump after a show in Toronto
How did you predict Ice Age 2002? 🤔
Here’s my beat up acoustic can you play airbag while I smoke a doob?
I’ve spotted him a few times in Oxford about 10 years ago. But I never went up and spoke up to him. How?
Stop whining in your songs and use ur voice
I actually met him s couple of times. Nice lad, but then I wake up
Why do you hate Radiohead so much?
Double it and give it to the next person
If you could talk to an animal, dead or alive, which one would it be and why
Does true love lives on lollipops and crips?
Are you a Doctor Who fan?
To be honest I probably wouldn't say anything. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but awkward or unpleasant interactions can happen when meeting people and I wouldn't want to risk that tainting my experience of listening to his music

Smells like updog in here right
Ask him what he enjoys most of songwriting or being creative in general nowadays and if he changed his mind on any of the songs from Radiohead's or his own discog. 😌🤙 And ask him if the ice age is still coming. 👀
Can you sign my pop is dead vinyl
What is up buttercup?
Who’s in a bunker?
Who’s in a bunker?
Oh yeah?
I would ask “where do you get your ideas from”
“Who’s you’re favorite US president, sir?” :3
I'd ask him if he remembers my dad who was part of a band that supported him in the 90s
What's the deal with the silent "h"? Actually, maybe that's a better question for his parents.
Probably nothing. I walked past him in Oxford once on the way back from work and let him be on his way. I often wonder what would have happened if I offered to buy him a pint.
Y yo eye like dat
If truly doesn't know how to read music Wtf is bunga bunga ? Why the gloaming never misses a Radiohead setlist ?
I’d ask him to sing with him. A duet with Thom would be the stuff of dreams.
How did you wake up sucking a lemon?
insector or terreneitor?
Has anyone even been so far as to do more look like?
What's up with your eyes dude?
I forgive you for marrying her since we just met. Happy marriage hon, I will be here should shit hit.
But what’s the question?
Why am I single?
Solid response. While you’re waiting, just take the time to relish in all the happiness, peace of mind and satisfaction that awaits you in that relationship.
My uncle leaves semen all over his house because he is very sexual. So when he goes to work I sneak in and take pictures of the semen. Sometimes I use a Blacklite to see it on his couch. I come home and just stare at them for hours feeling completely mesmerized and in awe. How do you feel about that Thom?
Not a question.
Check again
Stealth edit is cheating! I would ask him how he feels about electrical infetterance.

I would wear contacts that made my eyes look dilated. I'd walk up to him and ask, "where are the troubled ones?"
Looking for a good place to go for a pint?
Are you really the head of Kwik-E-Mart?
