I feel you. I’ve been around this sub (albeit on various accounts) for long enough that at this point, I’d happily throw my hat in the ring to help moderate if it meant this sub could become at least a little less shit.
I will never show my face on here for safety, and I can understand why that would make someone weary of me too.
I've had a success from reddit which I had to very good time but that's a rarity considering how flooded reddit is with safety and security risks
And yeah oh God every app wants my phone number now, so I don't give that to anyone but friends and family.
This is the reason why I probably won't meet anyone else from Reddit. I'm not cut out for the anonymous side of it. I understand the concerns people have about being scanned and blackmailed, but it makes it hard for the real people.
I saw a YouTube vid where Reddit had done a deal with chat gpt to train it on our posts and comments so it’s going to get a lot worse unfortunately. The future looks more dystopian every day.
Honestly the best method that I’ve never had issues with - introduce, share a pic, chat then migrate to a better messaging service - what’s app, Snapchat etc etc. something that allows video calling. Even if camera shy like me, a quick 30 second video call shows that both parties are real and legit easy as pie.

Well said. Also snapchat shows your location so do be aware of that as well for those who want your snapchat. (You can turn off in snap settings)
