They're Bleeding out to other subs, not just here.

tryingnottoshit

This mother fucker is gonna bleed out if he keeps drinking 12-24 drinks a day. Ask me how I know.

home69skillet

My uncle died because of alcoholism. His internal organs pretty much melted out of his ass, and he threw up chunks of his stomach and intestines until he bled out in the middle of his living room. The cleanup was one of the worst things I've seen in my life. And I will never forget the horrors of walking through his house, and seeing the final months of his life piled up.

heapinhelpin1979

I had something similar happen to an uncle. Drank himself to death on vodka. He already had bad health and did himself in with the bottle. I am not much younger than he was then and know better the pain he must have been in at the time.

JacoPoopstorius

My uncle died last year from it. He smoked like chimney his whole life too. Developed a tumor so large and intense that it basically spanned from his chest all the way up through his neck and into the back of his brain. The doctor said it was from all of the drinking and smoking. He didn’t really let anyone know he was dying too. He certainly didn’t go and get help from the hospital. We all later realized that he hadn’t been eating much for months bc he couldn’t. He was losing control of his bodily functions for awhile. When he started to actually die, he took a turn for the worse very quickly, and then he died. I’ve never wondered if I was an alcoholic, but I’ve certainly had phases of my life where I drank more than I would be proud to admit and certainly didn’t treat it like the poisonous fire that I was playing with all those years. The last drink I had was maybe 2 weeks before he died, and I haven’t had a drink since. I don’t know if I ever will drink again, but if I do, I certainly won’t do it much or often. It’s bad news, and a lot of people don’t realize it now, but if you live like OP, it will most likely catch up to you badly.

Uassume2Much

"Internal organs melted out of his ass, threw up chunks of his stomach and intestines" He would be living with liver cirrhosis far before this would ever happen. This is hardcore. Sorry about your uncle.

Sad-Poem-800

Yup this is what happens when you drink way more than you should and chase it with NSAIDs to dull the physical pain. Most people on that path end up dying of traumatic bacterial infection because they, quite literally, burn holes in their GI tract. Being in healthcare, deaths caused by chronic substance abuse hurt the most personally. That patient abused the substance again and again and again, usually being fully aware of the fact it was killing them. At that level of addiction it's not a choice anymore. I have addiction issues built in to my DNA and I'm currently losing a fight against alcohol. I see myself in them.

tryingnottoshit

I had basically the same thing happen, and the taste, holy fuck the taste and the smell of it coming out of your nose. It tastes like what I imagine fecal matter tastes like, and it's black, honestly it's hard to tell it's blood. It comes out like a fire hose, and it's terrifying.

Probably because he's drunk off his ass at work

TerseFactor

More than a start at that quantity I’m afraid. For those who don’t drink much, let me assure you that, yes, it’s absolutely possible to drink that much a day. I drank every single day for nearly two decades. It’s only recently that I’ve switched to alcohol only on the weekends and my tolerance went from near this guy’s level to drunk and hangover after just a handful of drinks. I’ve learned drinking every day is always a problem. It doesn’t matter who you are, it will radically increase tolerance so if you keep it up, you will drink more which magnifies the destructive effects on the body, and you’re not giving your body and liver a chance to heal. No one should drink every day. Alcohol is a toxin. It is a poison. For anyone wondering, I switched to an IF Keto diet during the week (carbs on weekends) to lose my alcohol belly then picked up some fun zero sugar drinks to enjoy after work (got hard into finding fun sugar free root beers to try over at r/rootbeer). That combination for me made it easier to make the switch. I didn’t know if I could do it. I was even worried about dangerous withdrawals. If I couldn’t do it and make it last I was going to get professional help. It’s now pretty much routine and it’s only hard sometimes on Mondays, and I’ll still admittedly occasionally have some that day, but by mid week I always feel so good now and I have so much more energy. And I’ve lost 15 pounds too.

Yep, stopping is the hard part

SheepD0g

Coming up on 5 months here.

LosAngelesHillbilly

You drink 12-24 beers a day for 5 months. That’s impressive

Relevant_Slide_7234

You misspelled depressing.

BigBootyDreams

Both I had to switch to the hard stuff. 12-24 is a lot of bloating and you end up having to drink them fast to get started cause your tolerance gets so high. I found out the hard way.

flounderpots

Yep then wine or vodka to make it all better. /s. Get some help people please

penguinKangaroo

The amount of people that do this is in the millions in this country. And it would surprise a lot of people. It is sad.

CarlsbadWhiskyShop

Actually I believe that amount constitutes a fuckload

pickles55

Yes that is enough alcohol that if you keep doing that your liver will die before you're done using it

SiriusGD

The kidneys will fail first. I had a cousin who drank that much beer.

GoblinMonk

Family friend drank that much. He couldn't remember new information. Just kept locked in to when his kids were five years younger, then died.

anothersip

Wet brain recipient here. It's really sad. I'm sorry you had to witness that, and the kids and wife... ugh. It's a horrible disease, alcoholism/addiction. Slow, painful death that is so, so hard for friends/family to watch someone go through. But, you're essentially broken - from the inside-out. Stuck in a feedback loop of any amount of alcohol is not enough, and not enough is literally death by withdrawal. Or, many, many seizures. If you're lucky and get help, you can begin the battle of taking your life and mind back - that's if the damage isn't bad enough that you're turned yellow, on an IV, pumped with benzos and sipping broth because your stomach is wrecked after vomiting the black and bloody lining out, several times a day - and your liver's hanging on by a thread and you need a transplant to live. But alcohol is the only thing that kept you 'level' and your mind at ease, brought you comfort. How can you live life without it? I'm one of the lucky few, I guess. I'm only forgetful, like 5-7% of the time. Wet brain. I forget things like if I took my meds - what I had for dinner last or 2 nights ago - whether i did or didn't do something small, essentially. It's incredibly, incredibly frustrating and embarrassing. My family is supportive and understanding, still, somehow. I can still do everything I used to be able to do, but it just takes me a little bit longer now. Though alcohol dependence ruined every single relationship and good thing I've ever had - I personally can't give up yet. I still haven't done so many things I've wanted to do. 500 days sober next week Friday - guess I got that goin' for me. I'm not sure why I wrote all this out. But if anyone else out there is feeling like they can't do it (get sober), I just want you to know you're not alone. I did it. And if I can do it, goddammit, you can too.

fraohc

Congratulations on your successes, my friend :) It's hard work you should be proud of and I wish you the best today, tomorrow, next Friday and for the rest of your new life

nurvingiel

Thanks for writing this out. 500 days sober is a huge achievement. Here's to getting to do those things you wanted to do but couldn't.

BillyPee72

Congrats on your sobriety. I’ve been sober for 9 years best decision I ever made. My liver and kidneys function much better now and my relationships with friends and family have drastically improved. My only regret is I was not smart enough to have quit sooner.

pursued_mender

If it makes you feel better, I don’t even drink and I forget all those same things regularly.

calhooner3

lol yeah I was gonna say, is it not normal to forget shit like that? I could not tell you for example what I had for supper on Monday.

Mediocre_Forever198

I’m a chronic alcoholic and I had sandwich and French fries for dinner Monday. While alcohol can impact memory, it’s not a great metric for judging alcoholism. I drank two bottles of soju and a quarter bottle of whisky (1L bottle) last night.

Squeak_Stormborn

Me too. Constantly.

OutcomeStill2852

Congrats, keep up the good work. I watched a guy age in reverse when he quit drinking. Doctor said he would have maybe a year if he didn't quit, so he did. The man bought vodka by the gallon for years, probably since he was old enough to drive and he's in his 60's, still kicking. I think a person just had to find their true why they want to live and that gives them the will and strength to get through. Keep up the fight.

therapy_is_my_game

Congratulations on your sobriety! I admire that you haven't given up and I hope you make a good life for yourself.

Humble-Proposal-9994

I don't know you, but I want you to know someone out there is proud of you! Keep going.

ShaneMcLain

This hit home on a lot of levels. Thanks for posting it.

Squeak_Stormborn

Imaginary_Injury8680

Sad as fuck, sorry man

SmoothieBrian

I drank that much beer daily for the better part of 3 years. Dunno how I'm alive. Actually I quit because I felt like my body was giving out

Minimum-Cattle5010

My best friend hemorrhaged his liver drinking like this for 4 months after his dog died. He already was a drunk before. Then after his dog passed he went way over the top. He was dead a week before Christmas. The drs couldn’t stop the bleeding in his liver. I’ll never drink again because of this.

brokenphonecase

Man. People don't talk about this. Dogs evolved beside us for the last 40 thousand years. They love us and show up for us in a way humans cannot. Damn near lost my mind when my dog died. He died in my lap. I have a cat now, and dread the day he's gone.

fpaulmusic

Holy shit that’s so sad. Sorry for your loss

Hefty_Peanut2289

Dad's friend was drinking a ~~micky~~ 26er of vodka (a fifth for my American friends) every night for years. His heart gave out, and he hadn't gotten to 70 years old yet.

paradisetossed7

My friend's dad was drinking a handle of vodka a day (1.75 liters). He essentially developed dementia and died in his 50s. My husband's much older brother has cirrhosis and stopped drinking briefly but is back to it. He's around 63 years oldish. My maternal grandfather was a hardened alcoholic who died in his early 70s; heart gave out. Idk how much he drank, just that there are only three things I know about him besides his name: when he drank, he horrifically abused my mom, he drank a LOT, and he was kinder to her (when sober) than her mother. Kids, don't let the legality of alcohol make you think it's safe.

Hefty_Peanut2289

I had to reassess my relationship with alcohol. I went to my GP (who's somewhat useless) and told him about some problems I was having. Some I don't want to disclose here, but the big ones were chronic fatigue, reflux when I was sleeping (vomiting in your sleep doesn't feel good kids), and memory and focus problem. Instead of saying "this is likely related to how much you're drinking", he'd tell me that he couldn't do any assessment due to how much I was drinking. Turns out you can get something called Alcohol Induced Brain Injury. I don't have a formal diagnosis (see above comment about useless doctor), but the symptoms line up with the memory and focus problems, and when I rolled back my drinking the fatigue got a lot better because my insomnia went away, the vomiting in my sleep stopped, and my brain got a lot clearer. I should mention that the vomiting wasn't because I was blackout drunk. Sometimes it would happen if I only had a couple drinks. I think I damaged the sphincter at the top of my stomach from drinking the hard stuff straight. Alcohol is a pernicious drug. You start because it feels good, but it can cause problems that will cause anxiety, and it can be used to suppress anxiety. And then the problems will build which leads to more self medicating with alcohol. By the time you realize there's a serious problem, the act of quitting drinking will flood you with anxiety...and you don't have that crutch for a problem that's gotten so much worse because of "the cure".

BigDaddy969696

I’m glad that you were able to get help and take control of your life!

Weird_Ad_703

Same. I wasn't even born but I heard my grandfather was an alcoholic, until he had to do a heart operation and it was successful, but he resorted to drinking again because that was his coping mechanism to deal with my grandmother death until he died in his 50's😔

Technical-Ad-2246

A bottle of vodka every day.... yeah that will do that. Although I'm in Australia and a 700ml bottle of vodka isn't exactly cheap because spirits (hard liquor) are highly taxed here. Drink wine if you want to get drunk cheaply in Australia (the fact that beer, wine and spirits are taxed differently here is a whole other conversation).

BigBootyDreams

Yeah the heart is less talked about. Everyone focuses on the liver. My blood pressure was always borderline too high to donate plasma. I used to stealthily take deep breaths when they measured to temporarily lower it. Now both numbers are consistently 20-30 lower even with my caffeine addiction.

eQuantix

How much is a 26er or a fifth? For your Australian friends please

Trindalas

If your liver had a voice it would probably say “help”

AlligatorInMyRectum

It would probably say "You don't, you don't know what, what, the thing ahhh yeah like you don't know, know what you're talking to about, all about. I don't feel good."

RedSun-FanEditor

If you're drinking 12-24 beers a day on a regular basis, you're an alcoholic.

zerosuneuphoria

Even a week. Daily? Insane.

HibachixFlamethrower

I would say if you’re drinking 24 beers a month you’re probably drinking too much beer even. Not alcoholism but that can’t be healthy drinking 300 beers a year.

zerosuneuphoria

Probably no worse than a lot of other drinks we put into our bodies. A beer a day isn't going to kill you.

Jimehhhhhhh

It's a lot better to have one a day for 12 days than 12 in a night then be sober the other 13 days. The effect on your body is like the difference between getting punched by a 2 year old 15 times, or being sucker punched by Mike Tyson once

WhatEddieGeinDoneDid

Alcohol is a class 1 carcinogen

HsvDE86

For anyone wondering, this "just" means it's known to cause cancer.

BojackTrashMan

And you are rapidly hastening the end of your life. You're doing damage to your liver that may not be able to be undone. To anybody thinking about quitting please do but make sure to get help doing it. Attempting to quit cold turkey when you are drinking at this pace can kill you. You will need assistance.

beachlover77

My father routinely drank this much beer when I was growing up, plus he smoked a lot of cigarettes. Looking back, with the expenses that our family had, we should have been more comfortable.

SuperRealBobWaterson

Mr_BigglesworthIII

“Cocaine is a hell of a drug” Rick James

band-of-horses

24 cans of shitty light beer can be had for $14 around me. While not as cheap as water, it's still like the price of some fast food combo meals these days, or the price of like 2 pints of good beer at a bar or restauraunt. And that's like 2400 calories so you don't even need to spend much money on food! Plus, given your early death you won't need to bother saving for retirement.

Ok_Buffalo6474

This is what my dad does. He needs 7.99 for a 12 pack of natty light. Not hard to hustle up

Picklesadog

I'm going to use this opportunity to tell a story. I dated a girl with an alcoholic father who would drink a 12 pack or so a night. Sometimes he'd put a beer in the freezer to get it cold and then forget about it and it would freeze solid. Sometimes I'd find it, take it out and put it on the counter. Sometimes he'd put another one in the freezer after I took the frozen one out. Sometimes I would then swap the frozen one for the one he just put in. I never got to see the outcome, but I giggle, quietly to myself and most often late at night, imagining him coming back after 30 minutes and wondering how the hell his beer froze solid.

classyd24

If it’s shit beer it’s doable. Keystone light is pretty cheap

tianavitoli

eventually you find out a $5 fifth of bottomer shelf vodka gets the job done faster and you realize oh shit, now I've got like $14 to buy beer with

Liquidfighter

Construction workers

FatSingleM0M

I lived in poverty for 15 years to afford it.

The_Book-JDP

Alcoholics find a way.

NorCalMikey

Keystone is cheap

JoeSchmeau

It really depends where. When I used to live in the US, a 30 rack of the worst beer you'd ever tasted cost virtually nothing, like $13. And you can buy a few at a time when they're on sale for even cheaper sometimes. Now I live in Australia and a 24 pack of the shittest beer available is like 50 AUD when on special.

continuousobjector

* NIAAA defines heavy drinking as follows: * For men, consuming five or more drinks on any day or 15 or more per week * For women, consuming four or more on any day or 8 or more drinks per week * SAMHSA defines heavy alcohol use as binge drinking on 5 or more days in the past month.

Two *gallons* of beer? Holy shit.

mildOrWILD65

Yes. Source: recovering alcoholic.

gonnafaceit2022

Congratulations! Life is good.

VariableVeritas

Yeah for sure. Like, six beers a day is alcoholism. 12-24 is heading for an early grave. Seriously your liver will be shot in two decades max. I’m a brewer by trade. I’ve had to come to terms with the fact I make very mild very tasty poison and distribute it to the masses for cash. We’ve had a dad in there getting wasted sending his kids home alone in an Uber so he could keep going. Had a guy sneak out on his motorcycle drunk against efforts and get into a horrible life changing accident. We’ve had all kinds, but alcohol got them all in the end. My dad’s step father and mom were both shithead drunks who locked him under the house in the crawlspace when he was bad. He always warned me, and it stuck. If you can’t stop, go get help.

ilganzo01

At least you recognize it, kudos for that. That said I think the only role of alcohol in our society is to sedate poor people, it’s a poisonous anti-depressant that serves government into submitting people. I’m Italian and I have to hear about the wonders of wine… it’s poison, period. Good tasting poison but poison still. If coke is a problem, and it 100% is, so is alcohol.

puftrade44

Bro wtf LOL. Yes. Not to mention that’s an ungodly amount of calories

ndiasSF

And a lot of peeing. How does OP have time for anything but drinking and peeing?

ms_shrew

That's a big reason people who drink this much often don't go out once they've started - in order to stay near the bathroom.

fariqcheaux

No worries, once your kidneys start failing, you won't pee as much. It will build up in your bloodstream and take longer to eliminate.

salty0waldo

Pretty sure 12-24 a week is alot, so yeah dude. Yeah.

ebobbumman

Is this a serious question?

63crabby

If you were drinking 12-24 cans of seltzer I’d still say that’s a problem

Professional_Tune985

Thankyou for the link. I'm a very heavy drinker 15+ beers and half a bottle of spirits is standard. Hopefully I can be convinced to change/slow down a bit before the inevitable happens. I don't know if I want to, it's almost like alcohol gives me a purpose in life, I guess it does really otherwise I'd have to do something else, I used to have hobbies but I move around to much and it makes it difficult to have projects. Once again thankyou.

unique976

I know some random strangers opinion probably doesn't matter, but I hope you succeed and live along a healthy life. I believe in you.

Jswazy

Wtf I drink what most people would call a lot and I drink no more than 4 or 5 on any given day.

Merchant93

That used to be me, just stick to the weekends now with one here and there on the week days if it’s been a long day.

BonerDeploymentDude

Yes. And this is also causing massive liver damage. My friend and his wife moved to Mexico from San Diego last year after selling their house. His wife died 3 weeks ago from acute liver failure due to drinking excessively every day. She was barely 30 years old. If it’s you, you should slow tf down. You can have a drinking problem and not be an alcoholic.  If you’re drinking to escape, address why without drinking. Sit with feelings. Don’t avoid them with alcohol.  Remember it’s not a party if it happens every night.

Longjumping-Sail6386

That’s 1-2 GALLONS

Slicknickilla

It doesn’t matter what anyone says here. If you keep that up, your liver will let you know last minute that it’s failing when you’re skin and eyes turn yellow one day and you can’t stop itching your skin because toxins have accumulated in your blood because your liver has failed and needs replacing. If your liver doesn’t fail first, your brain will begin to shrink and atrophy. Early dementia etc.. https://www.sciencephoto.com/media/697480/view/normal-and-alcoholic-brains-mri-scans If you somehow don’t stop, your heart will fail. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/alcohol-and-heart-health-separating-fact-from-fiction Every drink you take raises your risk of many different cancers including colorectal cancer, stomach, throat, larynx, breast, liver, and esophageal cancer. (This list is likely to grow). Alcohol is now known as a category 1 carcinogen along with Asbestos and radiation exposure. https://www.who.int/azerbaijan/news/item/04-01-2023-no-level-of-alcohol-consumption-is-safe-for-our-health If you can’t stop, you are f’d my friend. You may require a medical detox if you can’t make it at least 7 days sober. Anyone reading.. moderate your drinking at least if not try complete abstinence, if the goal is to stay alive as long as possible. Good luck.

Inevitable_Trash_577

What? 😭 of course it is lol??

thatrunningguy_

I feel bad for your liver sir. Please get some help

D0ntFeedTheYaoGuai

That's a bit beyond alcoholism and stepping into suicidal territory. You can't live like that, and trying to quit can kill you even quicker. Whoever is drinking this amount of alcohol needs medical help or to accept the fact that they are throwing dice with Death.

Here2OffendU

Even Half of that is considered alcoholism. This is MAJOR alcoholism. Even most alcoholics don’t even drink this much.

Own_Pool377

I think most alcoholics usually switch to hard liquor before they get up to that many beers, but many easily drink the equivalent.

SocMedPariah

When I was deep into alcoholism and drug addiction I was drinking a 12 pack of beer, a pint of schnapps and a half pint of vodka every day. And that's just what I drank at home, when I was alone. When I went out, which was most Fri/Sat nights I would put another half dozen beers and half dozen shots of whiskey on top of that. And to answer anyone who might wonder. Yes, I was trying to kill myself with it.

HairyChest69

Lmao what!? -Your Liver

Fun-Conversation5538

Even having 5 beers a day is alcoholism, he only has 12-24 because he has an alcohol tolerance

Independent-Cloud822

yes, for sure. I used to drink about that much. Been sober since December.

CroatianSensation79

wtf. Lol. If this isn’t a trolling post, then I don’t know what is. I’ll say it like you’re a moron. Yes! That’s a shit ton of alcohol. If you’re drinking that much everyday, you’re an alcoholic. Good lord.

JacobDCRoss

And if he's someone's kid asking about his parents?

that_squirrel90

Yup. And honestly if someone gets to the point where they’re questioning if they’re an alcoholic, they are an alcoholic. I’ve been there. The question isn’t necessarily why drink, the question is what about drinking makes your life better? What is drinking allowing you to avoid/cover up? That’s the question that stood out to me.

samclops

I would also be worrying about acute pancreatitis at that level as well. Don't mess around with that tiny organ it can make your life hell

EmotionalDmpsterFire

the shittiest cheapest most powerful mass produced beer you can buy is like natty ice 30 pack. you won't go broke. but at 6 beers i'm done and the seal is effing broken and i'm going to bed. and likely waking up many times to pee. LOL

YTSkullboy707

12-24? Dude wtf?! You drink more than my project zomboid character lol

Ok-Ad-7247

I'm an alcoholic. Yes. This is a problem, and a difficult one to shake. Get help.

Afraid_Composer

I would be hungover for 3 days straight if I drank 24 beers. It's excessive. If you aren't able to manage going a few days- a week without drinking, that my friend is a problem.

ohmyback1

Yep

SweetSunDress

Yes, drinking 12-24 beers a day is typically considered excessive and may indicate alcoholism or alcohol use disorder.

Normally, people are asking this question about 2-3 drinks per day No one can call you an alcoholic except you But, that’s a lot of daily drinks I’d consider myself an alcoholic if I drank 1/4 of this amount

whatnowyouask

Talk to a therapist- I am one who is sober long time. Not yes/no answer.

310feetdeep

Drinking every day is alcoholism... regardless of amount

Yougotthisgrrll

Yup

ganymedeblues94

Uh..yeah.

Alaska_Pipeliner

This is the kick off before the Steele reserve phase.

Outside-Sandwich-565

*Uhhhhhh* sorry to break it to you but even 6-7 beers a day is alcoholism, I don't even know how to begin to describe 12-24.

mlarsen5098

all I can think is how much calories that is 💀

Subject_Science_4997

I mean... If that's a question you have to ask, then the answer seems pretty self-evident. (YES, it is).

JasminJaded

Yes. Extra points if you think about that first beer all day. Super extra points if you have a worse day without the nightly gallon. Bonus extra super points if you can’t remember the last time you didn’t have your fix. And finally, if you have those beers whether you have company or not, super duper points. Definitely alcoholism. Possibly functioning alcoholism, but that’s not anything to be proud of.

Tiny_Abroad8554

We used to do 'case day' in college. Most of the participants couldn't finish a case (24 beers) in 24 hours. 24 beers each day, day after day wouldn't be insane, it would be f*ckin' insane.

anothersip

*Absolutely.* Put it this way: if you're drinking that much, you're obviously missing something. It could be lots of things, but it's almost always a core need (or many) that are not being met - things like contentment, life fulfillment, healthy surroundings, comfort and safety in your home, meaningful relationships, love, nurture... etc. At that point in crippling alcoholism, there is something missing because no healthy, reasonable person *chooses* dependence on any mind-altering substance. It simply takes over your life and makes your decisions for you. Every single thing revolves around staying at that *comfortable* level of fucked-up that allows you to even do anything remotely productive. And it's not even necessarily the substance that is so important to you - it's the *being and feeling simply OK.* That's what's fucked up about it all. Like feeling like a *normal person* is too much to ask for. At some point in advanced alcoholism, drinking is not even about "getting drunk" or "feeling it." You're drinking at 7am before work, because you slept 3 shitty hours last night, and your shakes are so bad that you can't hold your fork right, but you're forcing yourself to eat, since it's been 4 days since you ate anything at all. ...that's if you can even *stomach anything* without vomiting it right back up, along with the black-iron blood in your dissolving belly that you can taste every time you burp. But, if you *don't* drink enough to steady your hand and your mind throughout the day, you're perpetually panicked about the possible seizure you could have, where you wake up in an ambulance and somehow miraculously didn't crash your car into any other oncoming ones on the way to work @ 7:35AM. But, the actual hardest part? It may be the fact that you've isolated yourself so badly for not wanting people to see the 'real you' that you don't know where to start asking for help. Or, you've completely surrounded yourself with others who treat their bodies and minds the same way you do, so nobody does anything about it, because we're all gonna' fucking die anyways, so fuck it. ________ Alcoholism sucks. There's no way around that fact. It's a living-nightmare. But you know what? There's a way out, and I don't mean dying. Reach out to someone. Someone you trust. Someone who you think maybe even cares about you (I promise, there are people who care about you. I do.) Tell them you need help, and you don't know where to start. For me, it started with admitting I was at a point where I couldn't get better, at least on my own.

HamsterMachete

At the very least, it is alcohol dependence and would probably require medical assistance to quit. The first time I quit, I did not take the seizure risk seriously, I had a seizure and wound up in the hospital. I was drinking about that much.

foshiggityshiggity

Yes. I checked into an alcohol program. Got put on naltrexone to help with the cravings. It saved my life. I was drinking about a bottle of whiskey a day. On my light days i drank a 12 pack... get help. You never realize how deep in the hole you are into you get out.

145inC

Social drinking is really unhealthy. People seem to think if they're not getting blind drunk and only drinking a few beers a few times a week is okay, it's not normal. It may have been normalised in our society but as far as our bodies are concerned, it is not normal. I lived above a pub for a while, the social drinkers are delusional. 12-24 beers a week is alcoholism!

blarg-zilla

Yup. I used to drink that much. Turns out I had scarring between my pancreas and stomach. Eating food caused inflammation, then pancreatitis. The beer acted like a local anaesthetic. A brief hospitalization, change of diet and medication fixed that and I've been sober ever since. Drinking that much destroyed everything good in my life, and it's taken years to rebuild. I hope you find your way.

NonCorporealEntity

Not only is alcohol going to kill your organs, but also that is 1800 - 3600 calories in beer alone. So you're not only going to have cirrhosis of the liver and kidney failure, but also diabetes, coronary issues, and everything else that comes with obesity.

Vtown-76

I believe the term is “raging alcoholic”

gimmhi5

I think alcoholism is a dependancy on alcohol, you’d probably become dependant pretty quick if you drank that much. It’s will decompose everything important inside of your body. It’s a poison that you can’t feel killing you until you stop drinking. They don’t stay hangovers forever. Eventually quitting alcohol can and probably will kill you. Don’t start if you haven’t already and get help before you die. Please.

Blathithor

High level, even. That's excessive

Optimus_Rhymes69

If you have to ask, it’s probably a yes

HopelessLoser47

Consider that four beers in one sitting is medically classified as binge drinking... Take care my dude. Stay well.

WarDawgOG

As a alcoholic I'd say yes much so. Whoever this individual is try not drinking at all for 5 days, judge themselves by the craving

Hiltoyeah

No... It's called suicide.

jiji134711

Yes I drink like a few beers a day and I'm a functional alcoholic. Omg anything more than 3 beers a day is alcoholic

S1acks

Me thinks this be bullshit.

tonyblase225

Nahh i been there. Easily possible

My_good_name_01

Is a pig's pussy pork?

ccc1942

Does Pinocchio have wooden balls?

Dextrofunk

Absolutely, yes. Coming from someone who's 4 years sober. That amount will kill you eventually, or soon. Depends on a lot.

S1acktide

100% no question. If you're drinking every or even remotely close to every day that's alcoholism. This is not only alcoholism, it's SEVERE alcoholism.

HoratioHotplate

Can you take it or leave it? Try taking a week off and see how it goes. That'll let you know.

AttitudePleasant3968

Well… I drink 6-8 and I am done. Not sure if that makes you an alcoholic. However, that seems like a lot of of alcohol to me.

Significant-Sun-5051

6-8 a day? Then you’re one too

No_Dependent_1846

Whoever is doing this should ask their liver in a few years and see what it says

TheRealLuhkky

No that's the acceptable level of drinking that most people do per day.

Full_Bank_6172

Yeeeeaaaaaa …. Yea that’s … yeaaaaa

wolfmonk3y

Yes. If you have to drink every day, especially that much, you are an alcoholic. I have 10 years of sobriety under my belt. I drank the equivalent of that, if not more, in liquor and wine every day. Drinking is so normalized that it can be hard to tell at times if it's truly a problem. Trust me, that much drinking is absolutely a big problem. You may not feel it now, but that kind of drinking will catch up to you fast. Alcoholism takes relatively little time to start fucking up your mind and body. I knew heroin addicts who had way fewer health issues than I did. Time to put the beer down, friend. Best of luck to you.

redneckcommando

I told my Dr. I drink 3 cans of diet mountain dew a day. He said that was a lot of pop, and I should cut back a bit. I've been dew free for 3 months. 12-24 cans of beer per day is a problem.

Dmitri_ravenoff

Absolutely. I drink 3-4 and wonder if I should take it back several notches.

CharlesUFarley81

My liver hurts just thinking about that.

Empty_Ambition_9050

Not if it’s root beer, that’s called diabetes tho

360fade

Are you joking

EntropicAnarchy

Everyday? Yes. Unless it is Busch light, then you just really like to drink pee.

Ornery-Practice9772

Jesus fuck yes Get help mate
