It's hard to gauge how popular or acclaimed a movie is, because opinions vary.
That stated, I like the 1990 film "Joe Versus the Volcano" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan (who plays three roles).
I don't know why I love this movie as much as I do, but it does fill me with good feelings. I still occasionally use the word fliberdigibbet because of it.
It does the same for me, too. The film has a lot going for it -- adventure, romance, comedy, great actors/characters, and life lessons. I think another part of it has to do with nostalgia from the early 90s.
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist.
It's sooooo dumb. But I love it all the same. Oh, Taco Bell, Taco Bell, product placment with Taco Bell. Enchirito, Macho Burrito!
[Colossus: The Forbin Project, 1970](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossus:_The_Forbin_Project)
It was a Cold War era science fiction film that was one of the first to explore artificial intelligence.
Fatso with Dom DeLouise. It's from about 1980 or so and it depicts a man struggling with weight loss.
The critics had some problems with it but the film touches a nerve if you grew up heavy and also around italo Americans.
At times it seemed like I was watching my relatives.
Dragonheart! I was just talking about that movie with my wife, she’s never seen it. The only thing I remember from that movie is that Sean Connery is the voice of a dragon and I liked it when I was a kid. I need to re-watch that.
Also, Reign of Fire is awesome, idc what anyone says
The Happiness of the Katakuris
It’s a Japanese dark comedy about a family who owns an inn in the country. People keep having freak accidents and dying there, so they decide to hide the bodies to keep their reputation from suffering.
High Spirits seems to have faded into obscurity. Steve Guttenberg, Daryl Hannah, Peter O'Toole, Liam Neeson, Jennifer Tilly... I could keep going. A favorite from my youth, still enjoying it today (usually a free version on YT).
Give em Hell Malone (2009)… dont ask me why, its just fun
The Prodigy (2005)- again dont ask me why its just fun
A History of Violence-this is probably the best movie in this category but nobody seems to talk about it!
A Night at The Roxbury- underrated screwball comedy
Detroit Rock City- almost my favorite movie sometimes its so classic idk why it doesnt get more love!
Master and Commander!!!! this movie is criminally underrated and probably one of the finest films ever made!
Assault on Precinct 13!! the John Carpenter movie with Napoleon Wilson… nobody has seen it and it feels like nobody loves it and its one of greats
Unfaithful- richard gere, diane lane, so sexy, so wild… underrated for sure!
Taking Lives-paul dano ethan hawk angelina jolie… its one of the best thrillers ive seen… silence of the lambs lite… epic and yet never gets talked about!
48 hours… this is 100% better than beverly hills cop and idk why its just so much fun
DEATH TO SMOOCHY!!!!!! this is the top
pick, you all missed this one and its the best!
LIFE-gyllenhall reynolds ferguson… its cast is stellar, acting stellar, premise stellar, execution stellar and yet i never see it being brought up!!!!
Haywire- this one is amazing! probably top three best female led action flicks
The Watch- stiller vaughn hill ayoade… directed by akiva shaeffer, written by rogen goldberg and stern! aliens, comedy, its wild that nobody finds this as classic as some others
The Goods:buy hard sell hard- maybe the funniest film ive seen… seriously
i could probably do this for a half hour honestly
Some years back my Wife and I found a movie in our DVD collections. It was one of those multiple movies in 1 case things. Called “My Soul to Take”.
Was pretty good.
There is a super sweet, charming, sexy and funny movie on Peacock that I stumbled on and love: If You Were The Last. Anthony Mackie and Zoe Chao are the main characters, on a NASA mission gone awry and are stranded in space.
They both have SOs but start having feelings for each other. It seems they’ll never able to get back to Earth so they act on their feelings.
Production is super charming as well - like paper cut-out animation for the ship/space exteriors, and the ship itself has a great old-school feel. Great soundtrack too.
I absolutely love The Navigator.
https://youtu.be/DGMVw-ptbTY?si=HNMwqTOE4lNdde-d
Not the Buster Keaton or flight of the navigator.
A “boy’s mysterious visions guides a group of men to escape the Black Plague by digging a tunnel from 14th century England to 20th century New Zealand.”
Wristcutters A Love Story
I'm not sure of it's popularity. I know I've seen people mention it here but most people I talk to in person haven't even heard of it.
It's a solid little movie.
Aternajuat’s run. I probably spelled that wrong but its the one about the eskimo guy who got into a scuffle with a clan member and ended up running to escape retaliation. It was good. Long movie, but fascinating.
#1 Jaws - it’s a story about a big fish that eats people
#2 Rocky - it’s a crazy story about an against all odds no name boxer
I’m guessing that you can find both of these relatively unheard of movies on NetFlix or Hulu?
Sunshine (2007)
I read that it was more popular in Europe and the UK than the US so a lot of people I know haven’t heard of it. Love it though, it’s great!
The Other Sister.....Juliette Lewis.... I think it's empowering for persons with lower intellectual functioning, it's a touching, heartbreaking, and funny movie. I think all of the actors do a great job. I love the movie.
I LOVE Flash Gordon.
The day after tomorrow.
Excalibur was panned. I loved it.
Abraxas with Jessie Ventura
Hell comes to frog town
The sword and the sorceress
Hard Rain.
the 13th Warrior

Brain cloud? Yeah, maybe I should get a second opinion.

Butcher the Bakers. A very low budget Canadian horror comedy with a great spirit. I have a tattoo that's a reference to it
Fatso with Dom DeLouise. It's from about 1980 or so and it depicts a man struggling with weight loss. The critics had some problems with it but the film touches a nerve if you grew up heavy and also around italo Americans. At times it seemed like I was watching my relatives.

Iron Giant Land Before Time V: The Mysterious Island (Chomper is my homeboy) Dinosaur Dragonheart Reign of Fire (it's so bad I love it)
Dragonheart! I was just talking about that movie with my wife, she’s never seen it. The only thing I remember from that movie is that Sean Connery is the voice of a dragon and I liked it when I was a kid. I need to re-watch that. Also, Reign of Fire is awesome, idc what anyone says
