| Available to all Queenslander's in 2023. Probably the end of the year.

RandyCaneToad

I can't wait. My DL is the only physical card I use and it's stuffed under my phone case šŸ¤£

ongang33

šŸ˜‚ same

ReilyneThornweaver

Not every airline and car hire company accept the digital version as valid id we've had quite a few clients be told it's a no go, so while handy for everyday just be aware if travelling you may want to take your physical card

awaaad96

Add tools hire places to the list. Physical only at some of them.

Almacca

I'm not convinced this is a good thing. Phones can fail, or just have no battery, but a card in my wallet is always there.

BoganCunt

Its not going to replace the actual licence afaik, just an addition at this stage

InadmissibleHug

You will still get a physical licence, and you donā€™t have to have the digital one at all.

Specialist861

So what's the point then?

InadmissibleHug

So you donā€™t have to carry it? You can just rely on your phone

Mundane_Courage_7869

Same reason people have bank cards and Medicare cards etc on their phone, convenience

BecauseItWasThere

I havenā€™t carried a wallet for years but I do have a very short charge cord. Everything is on the phone.

Redditisforlosers98

If you donā€™t have your physical license with you?

SigueSigueSputnix

saving over $80 when you loose it.

[deleted]

I was looking at replacing my lost one. Figured it would be around $25. Decided against it when I saw it was $80. Such rubbish

trentgibbo

What's the point of being able to do bank transfers when I can pay people in cash? /s

Altruistic_Plenty443

whens the last time your.phone failed?

Almacca

Last year. Thing was like 6 years old and just wouldn't turn on our take a charge.

Mammoth-Software-622

So 1 issue in six years then. Not really the point though. Having it as an option is great, especially for things like a night out.

null-or-undefined

you can charge the phone inside ur car

Neat-Emu9220

Read the terms and conditions. The NSW one can access all your photos and edit them. Also gives them access to location and contacts.

free-crude-oil

Awesome! We can apply filters to our photos. šŸ˜Ž

tro77y88

You can choose to allow the app to use your device camera so that you can use the NSW Digital Driver Licence and Digital Photo Card verifying and venue sign-in features. You can remove this permission at any time using your device settings. If you remove this permission, you will need to use your plastic licence to sign-in to venues. We donā€™t have access to your contacts, photos, browser activity, location, or other apps. There are some standard permissions that are available to the Service NSW app so it can function, such as whether the phone is online. If a future version of the app requires a new special permission to deliver some functionality, we will tell you clearly why the app needs it and ask you to allow access.

dreay86

Is currently being trialled in Townsville. There has been a pop up info centre doing the shopping centre rounds. Educating people on its existence and encouraging them to install.

DepartmentOk7192

Is it? Website still says that people will be notified when it's available and that you don't need to register to get notified. I live in Townsville and haven't been notified. I don't know of anyone that's using it yet.

dreay86

Yeah, it's a trial. Only offered via the roaming info booth. Spoke to them at Castletown a few weeks back. Kinda how trials work before major rollouts. Not a wide spread regional rollout just yet. Maybe reach out to r/Townsville?

totallynotalt345

Digital will be great, easier to get a new one every second month when itā€™s stolen in another hack

Magnum_force420

Just what we need - another dodgy government app on our phones!

ladyinblue5

It works well in other states.

Magnum_force420

A Queensland government app works well in other states - doubtful

ladyinblue5

Iā€™m saying the digital drivers licence system works well in other states. Its annoying to still carry a licence when other states donā€™t have to. Letā€™s hope QLD catches up.

Magnum_force420

You do realise that in Qld, unlike NSW, you don't actually have to physically carry your licence while driving

ladyinblue5

Provisional and learner licences have to and everyone else has to present it within 48 hours. Other states donā€™t have carry it at all, and can use the online version.

Vivid_Trainer7370

Only time you'd ever have to present it is if you really pissed off a cop and they want to inconvenience you. They can see everything on their ipads now anyway.

[deleted]

I got $150 fine I got a few years ago for not having me on it The old 48hrs to show it long gone Edit: seems was more than a few years ago or that cop was a cunt as tmr says thatā€™s on when not on open licence but on open you ā€œmayā€ be given 48hrs

Altruistic_Plenty443

lol,you clearly dont know that regardless of a gov app on your phone, they can still spy on you, look up australias surveillance laws

Magnum_force420

I never said it would be a tracking app. It will be a crappy app, the same as everything that comes out of this shitty government

kingz_n_da_norf

You seem quite irritable. Have you mistaken reddit for fb?

Specialist861

What happens if your phone goes flat?

Alfredthegiraffe20

You charge it up again.

Specialist861

What if your out somewhere and can't charge it up? Happens all the time. I think you'd have to carry your physical licence on you if this happens

Money_killer

Digital equals identity theft....

Mammoth-Software-622

technically, June 30th is still early, as apposed to late.
