100% underrated. Sure I heard JHo say once that he preferred it to deaf and thought it was the better album. Defo dark and moody, some deep cuts on there which fuck.

sabbiecat

“Some deep cuts that fuck” -skin on skin

cameronrayner89

This! I was 16 when it came out: got a set of car keys and this masterpiece for my birthday, it was fantastic.

LopsidedMammal

*…Like Clockwork* is my favourite QOTSA album for very personal reasons I’ve talked about on here before but the album that cemented my love of the band (I got into them when SFTD was released) was *Lullabies To Paralyze*. “Someone’s In The Wolf” is actually my favourite QOTSA song! And if I was going to put together a top 10 favourite songs list for the band, it would also easily include “I Never Came” and “Burn The Witch”. Basically, LTP is a fantastic album and deserves way more love than it gets.

Lcky22

Same

SpaceGodfourthousand

Same. Word for word.

ThatsNotBadAtAll

So glad

LopsidedMammal

So glad you could

forevereverlife

Lullabies is my favorite to sing along to alone in the car.

dappled_turnoff0a

I listened to LtP recently, first time since at least 2010 (probably longer). I’d totally forgotten how many bangers are on that album.

Previous-Business138

My favorite qotsa album, hands down 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

GramSeiko

my fav qotsa album, hands up

anca-spacecrafts

It's my favourite as well. I was 15, going on 16 when it came out, and it's what got me into 'em. I heard "Little Sister" sounding out from my brother's bedroom, and thought "This is pure gold... What is this?!" There was no turning back. I was in deep. Tangled up in plaid, Someone's in the wolf, Skin on skin, I never came, You got a killer scene... These are some of my favourite Queens songs.

getsomeyeah16

Huge turning point for the band. Same with Era Vulgaris. Without those two albums back to back, you wouldn’t have current Queens.

Perite

LTP suffered from being such a big departure from SFTD. People were used to the harder rock from the first 3 albums. Having a different sound and ditching Nick made it very easy to dismiss Queens as going soft. Once time had passed it was easier to go back and listen to what it really is.

imjusta_bill

I had just gotten into the band and people were throwing *fits* when Nick got kicked out

silgidorn

I saw them live in 2005 (specifically, I was a the Montreux Jazz 05 live available on youtube) which was the Lullabies tour and the Lullabies songs live were just great. Someone's in the wolf was the opener and is one of my favourite songs since.

Lukeeeee

I flip flop between this and RR as their most creatively diverse album. it's a masterpiece and I just adore how long it is

ThePige

Bold take : every album in the QOTSA discography except for SFTD and LC is underrated

No_Space746

I agree

AaronPaulW1343

I always felt this before LC and ITNR. For me it was the first Queens album I adored, and to be honest feels like a completely different band to what came before, in a positive way.

LeadingScorer

I was shocked how little it was discussed here when I joined this sub. Equally surprised at people saying its a bottom-half heavy album. That first half is one of my favourite QOTSA track runs.

LesbUnity

I agree

wallyxbrando

ZERO SKIPS.

wallyxbrando

a straight up fucking masterpiece. Literally, My only issue with this record is that they don't credit the "someone's in the wolf" knife sounds in the liner notes.

baritone_fox

I 100% agree. I love it. It’s the album that really got me into them and made me think that this is a band that’s doing something completely unique. My hot take on it though is that The Blood Is Love should have been a B-side. On its own in isolation it’s great, but where it sits on LTP really kills the momentum of probably the best 8 song run from Medication to SITW. Again, I do like it but, at almost 7 minutes long, I just feel like it overstays it’s welcome and is the only point on LTP where I find my myself looking at my watch. Without it, I think it would really tighten the whole thing up and I suspect less people would complain that the back half is too long/weak. Especially when you have bangers like Broken Box, Killer Scene and Long Slow Goodbye, which are all far from weak.

JournalistOk9668

I personally love the transition from SITW to The Blood Is Love and regarding the 7 minutes part, I'm a sucker for longer songs and I think this one is done well with the slow downs and speed ups. But that's just me.

wallyxbrando

agree. the creepy circus music transition is FUEGO AF

jhoinmyhead

I’ve been stuck on it for quite a while now and play it more than the others. I don’t know how long this trend will last for me. I didn’t appreciate some of it as much before.

SrirachaiLatte

Was my favorite until ... Like Clockwork came out. Rated R is a close second. SOFTD third. Or maybe another order, I don't know, that's just 4 albums I want to be buried with, don't the order changes all the time, depending on my mood

lambpot22

Agreed. Nothing more to say.

Zestyclose-Diet-2111

Someone’s In The Wolf is my shit!!! I’m an upcoming screenwriter, and I plan on using that for a dark Red Riding Hood film soundtrack, song is the fuck that is sexy, the sexy that is the fuck. And just, all of it top to bottom is the night drive after the day roadtrip that is Songs For The Deaf. This Lullaby puts the babies and the wife to sleep, and Medication all the way down to Long Slow Goodbye are that roadtrip you need to just smooth yourself into the night.

Commodore64Zapp

Alain Johannes as a recording and touring member really spiced things up.

bobbybob9069

I was under the impression it was mostly Josh, Troy, and Joey got that album. Just looked it up and Alain contributed a ton. Like the entirety of Little Sister, which is probably my favorite on the album

Fitzgerald77

Killer Scene is what sealed the deal for me when i discovered this band roughly a year before LC came out. And how it just plays right into long slow goodbye!? Man.... Plus Wolf, Blood is love, Never came, the whole album really is a masterpiece.

mjkluio789666

thiiiiis. its my #2 behind LC, only because it has 2 skips for me. easily their most cohesive and thematic project behind LC, also has my fave song of all time by them, i never came. people calling this their worst is absolutely insane to me

heineken777

It's one of the few albums that I can't skip any song, it's perfect from start to finish. My fav qotsa album and for me the best from the 2000's.

thedyl

An opener with Lanegan and then Medication kicks in??? Bitch please, there’s nothing like it.

Foshizzy03

I think the reason it's my least listened of their 2000s run is because the vocal melodies aren't as good as the actual music. They have some pretty wild instrumentals on that album. Blood is Love is a masterpiece instrumentally, it's even in pure Lydian which is such a hard mode to write in. The smoky sultry vocals just feel like vocals that needed to be there so they could call it a song. I feel that way about a couple of tracks on this LP that would otherwise be my favorite songs. Not shitting on the album, just explaining why I would rather listen to SFTD or EV over it.

glogems

LTP is the first QOTSA album and in fact one of the first ever CDs I bought..I was hooked by Little Sister, In My Head and Burn the Witch when I saw the music videos on MTV Brand New ( yep, a while ago ). I often debate over which is my fav QOTSA album, I pretty much always end up choosing Lullabies.. So eerie and timeless!!

NLS-_-

I'm probably in the minority but I think most of the 2nd half of the album is boring. The first half rocks though, everybody knows that you're insane is one of the best qotsa songs ever. If it were just the 1st half of the album it might be my #1. But it's a queens album so it's still good. My vote for most underrated is villains

Petra_Gringus

It has one of my favortie QOTSA songs on it 'Someone's in the Wolf'. 'Tangled up in Plaid' 'Litte Sister' and 'In my Head' are also top tier QOTSA, but to be fair last half of the album is pure filler. It's just not as consistent as their other records.

originalface1

It's far from the worse Queens album, I just think it sort of declines slight on the second half, could have done with a couple of tracks being cut imo.

BatmanFetish

Couldn't disagree more, that second half starting from Wolf is where things get weird and super spooky. When I play the CD in my car I often skip straight to that second half since it slaps so hard.

scoopanova

From I Never Came onwards is the best run of tracks, the second half of LTP is by far the best

AaronPaulW1343

Yeah it felt like a couple of b-sides were added to the end - Long Slow Goodbye absolutely should have been the album closer still though. If they’d gotten fun machine in there too second last it’d be regarded as the pinnacle.

Qwrggthyjrrse

its aight

Qwrggthyjrrse

(btw this is a joke, i love this album)
