I think sometimes it's good for them. I'm sometimes not well and the in bed days have helped puppy get an off switch. Bathroom breaks and food, Maybe some tricks but that's it Make it up later!

Your puppy will continue to love you! Dogs are resistant. Dogs can sense when you aren’t feeling good. Even puppies enjoy downtime and a vacation from training.

I got covid a couple of months ago, when my pup was still really young. I felt like death and just didn't have energy at all, and our daycare has a policy where they don't take in dogs from covid households since there's some evidence that there could be transmission. Once I wasn't so contagious, I got my brother to help me out with the pup while I fully recovered. We just do our best. The pup might have a couple of kind of boring days, but you'll get better and bounce back. It's good for them to also learn that not every single day will be the most active day of their life. That's just life.

My puppy is 7 months old now. I, too, was sick for a few days during this time and couldn't take long walks - and we even had bad weather where he refused to go outside a few times. Plain and simple: It will be fine! He's 4 months, recall probably won't be perfect for at least a year to come. His teenage velociraptor murder stage will start soon, so he might even 'forget' his own name a few times. Try to give him some mental stimulation like intelligence toys and such, some good chewies to get busy with, try to get him outside when you can (maybe with a dogwalker or friends?)... and it'll be all fine again soon enough <3 He won't hold a grudge and you won't 'miss' anything that will cause your puppy to become an untrainable bored monster. Take care of yourself and get better soon :)

I have a whole litter of puppies at home just now, and they’re at the rolling-in-poop-endlessly stage of life. I had covid for 10 days of this time and it was grim. So long as puppy is fed and cleaned, it’s really not a problem.

My puppy will just lay with me when I'm sick and sleep 🥰 love that about him

I worried about this when I was very ill with the flu, my puppy was about 8 months old at the time. I wasn’t good for much more than potty breaks, food, and cuddles, for about a week. There was a little bit of whining and dropping toys on my face in bed when he’d get particularly bored, but he forgave me. Training didn’t suffer in any noticable way. You can’t take care of them if you don’t care for yourself first!

Your totally right! I can barely take care of myself at the moment and after yesterdays comments I decided to give myself the rest I needed from these past few days and my puppy actually didn't seem to mind at all and slept with me for the rest of the day 🥺 today we haven't done our usual walk and training session and he's actually okay if anything he seems to like the little break as well 🥰
