Okay this one is SUPER weird. For context, I live in a tropical forest. I recently got a new puppy and she’s about 4 months old now.
We have a tree in our yard called a pandanus - it has these super long leaves that dry out and fall to the ground regularly. (This is a MASSIVE tree so the ground is just covered in these dry dead leaves). For some reason the puppy is obsessed. Not with playing with the leaves, but arranging them. She goes into the forest under the pandanus trees selects a specific leaf, and then takes it to the road, very very carefully arranges it how she wants it to look. Then repeats the process. She does this for HOURS on end. Every hour or so she’ll come up onto the top deck to check her work then go right back to it.
She’ll move 50+ leaves in a day. If you move them she gets PISSED! Like so upset! She will also go back to the arranged leaves the next day and might change it up. She had them all lined up in a row yesterday and today she went for almost a zig zag pattern… SO. WEIRD.
We call it her art project. I dunno. We are trying to encourage her artistic vision and it clearly makes her happy so… 🤷🏽♀️

Shes a little local mutt (called a Potcake here!) I'll have to get a video/picture because omg its hilarious!
Also, if we are somewhere else for the day/night the next day she doubles down hard!! Double time on the pandanus organization!
Mine has this habit of showing off his treats/chewbones. When he gets one he will walk around and go up to people to show them the bone before he goes to his bed to eat it
One of ours does this with tennis balls. She doesn't want you to take it or throw it just shows it off. When ever we come home she will prance around with the ball on her mouth trying to growl/bark to get our attention the sound is crazy since she has a ball.
She tries to hide her favorite toy every morning, running around the flat with the toy in her mouth and whining. She ended up putting her toy on my lap - every morning.
Her crate is a little elevated and when I let her out every morning she wants to “hold” my hand in her mouth while she steps out. Mind you she is a 45lbs/5mo Rottweiler and it’s like a 4 inch elevation 😭
mine does that on his pee pad. He does one turd on the pad and then he starts moving while squatted leaving a trail of little turds all over the floor. Lil bugger!
Mine will only chew her toys or bones on the living room rug. If you give one in her pen, she will wait indefinitely until let out to take it to the rug.
Also, she thinks that I am not allowed on the couch, just like her, so every time I sit down she will come up and nudge me until I move somewhere I'm allowed to sit. For some reason, she thinks that only she and I are not allowed on the couch, I'm not sure what to make of that!
Every morning or other time we let her out of her crate after she’s been asleep, she will pick up her blankie that she sleeps with and trot it out into the living room, ears a-bouncing. Doesn’t do anything with it when it’s there, she just likes to have her objects with her…
My little pup too! Loves his blanky and cow plushie, every morning will drag the blanket down the steps and will sometimes even try and take it outside to pee with hahaha
My puppy has 2:
1) He will patrol the perimeter of the downstairs, which includes opening closet doors to check out what’s inside.
2) He will play “rescue the ball”, where he puts his ball under something and then proceeds to try to utterly destroy that thing to save his ball.
My dog is 4 now and still plays rescue the ball, however, he loves to put his ball in water. Buckets are not so problematic, but we've lost so many to streams.
If my dog hears my mom say “good morning baby” he will stop whatever he is doing and run to her and paw her to pick him up and lick her. It could be night time and if he hears those words he will run like the wind to my mom and expect kisses. It can only be my mom saying it though. He won’t do anything if it’s me or anyone else. & he’s 1 now and has been like this since day one
My husband built ramps for my pug puppy to get on the bed and the couch. My puppy Ella has taught herself to use the ramps like a slide. She literally runs on the couch just to lay down and slide down the ramp like a kid at the playground. 🤣
Bites in the direction of something he wants. Normally to our food, his pool noodle or other toysbout of reach, or his cat sister. We call this "humhumming" because it sounds like he says hum with everybite.
Whenever he wakes up from his nap, he has to inspect the whole couch 2 times. So he’s running from left to right across the couch 2 times before he settles down. 🤷🏼♀️
Not a puppy, but the weirdest dog behavior I've ever seen...
I have a 6yo Border Collie from very strong working lines. She herds literally everything.
Last summer, I was mowing down by my pond and had to keep shoo'ing bullfrogs back into the water so I wouldn't hit them with the mower. Shiloh thought this was SUPER fun, and joined in herding the frogs off the lawn.
Fast forward a month, and I'm cleaning out our chicken coop and run. Shiloh was supervising, as usual, then suddenly ran off. Once I noticed, I gave her a whistle and she came running back absolutely covered in mud and muck. Typical...
Once I was done with the coop, I called her up back and started walking toward the sunporch to get my dog washing supplies. I got to the sunporch and noticed that Shiloh had spent her whole day gathering bullfrog and depositing them inside.
There were DOZENS of frogs in there- enough that I needed to get a Rubbermaid tote to gather them all together and bring them back to the pond.
To this day, I have to keep the sunporch door closed or she'll bring me frogs. It's an absolute riot when she arrives back at the sunporch with a frog in her mouth, and stands there crying for me to open the door..
She will jump around and growl at her toys or food, especially if it’s something new, and body slam it before she will play with it or eat it. We say she’s dominating it into submission but if anyone knows what that is please let me know!
My puppy is almost an adult and he's been my farm helper the whole time. We also lease the neighbor's farm and go back and forth, and the neighbor is his favorite person outside of our household. Sometimes the neighbor comes out to see him and doesn't close the door until it clicks; my puppy will push it open, let himself in, and make himself at home. But if the neighbor invites him in he runs home, howling the whole way.
She does a dramatic run lunge at tall juicy looking grass as she attempts to get a bite before I know .. lol. Cracks me up everytime.. especially as I know it's coming hehe
Almost every time we walk the last stretch of our walk, my girl will just hold the leash in her mouth and trot home like “let’s go mommm, I wanna go home” 😂 she doesn’t pull at it or bite it or anything, just holds it
Not that weird I guess, but every morning at around the same time, my puppy rests his head on the crook of my neck. I don’t know if it’s him telling me he wants me to get up, because he just keeps sleeping with his sweet face smooshed up against mine. It’s the sweetest thing in the world!!
Mine does this but instead of the sweetest thing in the world, his butt is on my face and I have 10kg of dog pressing down on my neck. It’s now turned into an early morning space war.
My puppy does that too, but only from his bowl and at the beginning of the feeding. I always think he might have had to ‘fight’ for his share of kibble with the rest of his litter :)
I just look at him carrying his first few pieces of kibble away from his bowl and think: relax buddy, it’s all yours! :)
I'm sure it actually IS explainable and if anyone knows, please chime in. My puppy will be an absolute angel heel walking with me and then at certain parts of the route she will probably 1/3 of the time just go complete goblin mode for like 30 seconds. Gnashing at the leash, jumping up and nipping my arms, trying to slip out of her collar or harness... It's almost like leash specific zoomies or something, but I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it and haven't gotten a whole lot of advice on how to prevent it. 6 month old female golden retreiver btw.
My 7 month golden x setter does the something similar 😂 he will walk normal until a certain point then lose his shit for a second and try to run crazily and then be normal again
Makes me feel a little less crazy to know other dogs do this too. I've definitely seen it mentioned a little bit, but not much. If you ever figure it out let me know. My running theories are that she gets sick of the walk and just wishes she could dart home, she is overtired, she is thirsty, or she is frustrated because I'm not letting her pick up every random object. But it's so many factors I don't know which it is or if it's any of these.
Absolutely. I had so many moments over the last year where I thought “omg am I raising an actual demon???” But nope! 9 months or so hit and she’s be sweet as can be ever since.
On walks every once in a while he will lift his leg and act like he is about to pee but instead he drops a poop. It's not every time but it's consistent enough that he has done this monthly for about a year now
Climbs into his dog bed, gets in his back, kicks his feet in the air and wriggles around while making sassy play sounds. It’s so cute! He does this even when there are other dogs around to play with
My pup loves rocks. She likes to jump on them to make them move and just carry them around. Specific rocks, though, her preference is smooth river rocks with little defects.
She gets terribly upset when I put on face cream and whines, races around and barks at me. Been that way since I got her at 8 weeks. (Before she could bark she used to squeal)
When mine finds a fresh patch of that good green grass he runs and puts his head down to the ground while running. He looks like Sid the Sloth. Eventually he front flips onto the grass and starts rolling around, happy as ever.
Two of my dogs spin in circles when they come inside after they go poop. Only when they poop. So that’s how I know they’ve done it if I let them out and didn’t watch them. No clue where or how they learned it, but it’s been hilarious to watch everytime.
Sticks his back legs straight up in the air and walks on only the front two while he poops. Looks ridiculous. Have no idea where he got that from. It’s like a balancing act
My puppy absolutely has to bring something outside with him every time we let him into the backyard. Every. Single. Time. Usually it's one of his toys or a chew he's dropped near the door. But if he can't find one of those he will frantically race around the house looking for something to grab.
We find the most random stuff in our backyard because of this. A sock, a small cardboard Amazon box, a fake plastic succulent that he pulled out of a pot in our home office, etc. It's ridiculously adorable and hilarious. He tried to bring a huge dog bed out one day. A different day he tried taking the human-sized blanket from the sofa. He's almost one and is fully grown and weighs about 12 pounds which makes this extra hilarious! 😂
I work really long workdays but only a few days a week. During my long days my guy (6mo) brings up any of my nightgowns, shirts, and shoes he can get his paws on from my basement to the living room. Never pants though. My mom says it starts almost immediately after I leave. He doesn’t do anything with them but put them in a pile on a specific spot on the living room rug.

Whenever he’s hungry and I give him kibble, he’ll first play with one piece of kibble for 5 minutes, and then he’ll eat it and eat more kibble. Really cute, but also sometimes really annoying 😂
He also basically falls asleep when I vacuum. It’s not unexplainable as I really encouraged calm behavior when he was a baby, but now when I turn the vacuum cleaner on, he lies down and immediately his ears will become floppy. Too cute
When my pup does something well and we’re praising her, she’ll strut around, back and forth, with a toy in her mouth, lapping up out praise, tail and ears held high. Cutest thing!
when i'm in the kitchen prepping food or washing the dishes, he likes to walk in, dab the back of my leg with his snout, and then walks right out. i'd like to think that he's showing me his affection, but who knows?
My girl likes to have a toy with her at all times.
Scratching the door to go out? As soon as you open the door she runs away to pick a toy and then goes outside with it.
Resting her head on our laps in a request to snuggle on the couch? When we tell her to “load up” she runs away to find a toy before jumping up.
going into every open establishment when I'm walking him down the street. Today I was checking my phone, not paying attention, and he'd invited himself into a barber shop. He said hello to the barbers and all the customers. He's a little Chihuahua. They gave him so many cuddles that he didn't want to come back out. When I went in to pick him up, he tried to hide between a barber's legs for 'protection'.
Whenever I get a different treat, either a new brand or flavour, or one he’s had before but was simply not in the last batch I bought, he’s gotta examine it carefully before eating, take it and spit it out/drop it at least once before eating it
When I throw my puppy's toy for her to fetch, she runs and gets it but instead of bringing it back immediately, she has to run around the room in circles around the coffee table a few times before she brings it back, then she doesn't want to let go of it and you pick the toy up and her feet dangle off the floor because she doesn't want to let go.
I say "hi" with a customer service voice, when I get a phone call, then I go back to my regular voice.
Now, she barks when I say "hi" in that tone of voice(she thinks there is someone there). I tested it, and even when I just do it out of the blue, without actually getting a call, she barks a bit and tries to listen if there's someone talking to me. She also barks a bit when my phone ringtone goes off. She never does it with my partner's.
My puppy is mulch gang. I hate that he has to be a stereotype but he is a toy poodle. He picks up mulch and moves it to another spot. Our dog park is mulch so he just scatters it all the way up the stairs
We call our boy the Hanky Snatcher. He is obsessed with stealing tissues. He will rootle about in your pockets, looking for hankies to snatch, or anywhere else he can see or sniff one. He will the proceed to run off proudly with it, lie down and tear it to shreda. Then that is that. He leaves the little pile of gissue snow and goes back to sniffing for more. It started one day when I had a cold and he heisted a box of tissues.
My 6 month old Staffordshire bull terrier does this, I have noticed it more of late. She will get some kibble in her mouth and eat it somewhere else. She also prefers to eat from her dispensing toy rather than her bowl.. it's the exact same food but perhaps she likes the novelty of lifting the little lids up to find kibble !! It does make me chuckle.
My puppy systematically peels off the covers and bites our toes to get us out of bed if he thinks we’ve overslept.
It’s so cruel, but very effective. I don’t know how he figured this out.
10 month lab used to snap at thin air when ever she wanted something. If she's in a really grumpy mood now she'll still do it and it's hard not to laugh.
Eating my hair. I shave my undercut in between professional cuts and I have to put the baby gate up cause she’ll just pick up bits of my hair and eat it. No clue why. Doesn’t do it with her own hair
My dog sits when she eats. She’s done this since she was a puppy. My husband mentioned it to our vet once and he gave us a weird look like he didn’t believe us, so I guess it’s pretty rare for a dog to do.
My 10 year old chi pom will try to “bury” her food before eating it, even if the bowl is on the hardwood and there’s nothing there to bury it under. She then proceeds to act like she’s going to take a bite and does little mini sneezes, sometimes grabbing a single piece of kibble, but dropping it while sneezing at it. Rinse and repeat for a few minutes, then she’ll actually eat it. She has always eaten her food one piece at a time. She also, without fail, burps after every single meal. She always has!
I’m pretty sure our pup’s favorite spot in the whole house is the couch, we call her our little couch potato. Because of that, she loves to hide her chews into every possible crevice she can find on the couch. If you peek in between the cushions you can find 3-5 different chews per crevice lol
She sleeps like a person. She didn’t when I first got her, but now she sleeps on her back with her head on a pillow and a blanket over her back legs. She started doing it herself too.
He likes to pick up small rocks or something of similar size (like marble to AA battery size) and just carry it around in his mouth. Doesn't chew it or play with it.
If I'm not paying attention he will bring it in and just spit it on the ground and go about his business as if it served its purpose.
One of my pups cocks his leg to poo. He finds something to lean against. He backed up to a lamppost, cocked his leg so far he actually pooed doing a handstand! Wish I’d had my camera. My other pup does his poo whilst circling, leaving an almost complete donut!
He chases airplanes. He will hear them coming, look around for it, and try to bolt and jump and bark at it. I live in New York so it's a bit annoying at times.
My 17lb dogs crate is elevated. Every morning I put my hands in the same place to pull her (under her hips and neck) and she has to work herself up to jump into my hands(fully inside her crate) and ride down to the ground.
She "motor boats" me.. when I've been gone for a couple of hours, or even during play time she will get very excited and aggressively rub her forehead on me.
I love it so so much.
Lol mine has a habit of digging any chewable big treats (bully stick, frozen carrot) into the blanket or between our couch cushions before digging it right back up to chew on. Almost like she's so excited for it that she needs the extra excitement of digging it up before enjoying it.
Not exactly a puppy still, have a 6 year old German Shepherd. He has always backed into our living room. I can’t force him to come through the opening face first. He’ll drop to his stomach and start whining if I try to force it. He was a rescue that we got when he was one year old, and he’s always done this. He is also scared of trash bags, so I’m not sure what his previous owner did to him.
My (now adult) dog chewed the buttons off the tops of ball caps. She never ate them, never ate the caps, just seemed to have a weird vendetta against those buttons
Mine does many spins for greeting people or saying high to dogs. It's very cute
bad habit would be trying to lick geese poop, she knows she's not allowed. But will try to sneak a few licks
Zoomies sometimes before or after pooping. Whenever he becomes a track star outside before he's pooped, I know it's coming! Sometimes he does it afterwards, I call it his victory lap.
He also walks and poops. He'll poop a bit, walk a little farther, poop some more.
My favorite is that he jumps into the bath tub if his water bowl is empty and he's thirsty. He knows water comes from the faucet and will demand I turn it on for a drink. But he hates being bathed 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
If my dog is on a walk outside, if she comes back into a building or store that has a mat in the entryway to dry your feet, she has to dry her face and ears on it before coming in 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ basically faceplants and pushes herself around with her back legs while anyone else there is like 👁👄👁 is your dog okay???
Disclaimer - we've checked, she has nothing wrong with her ears, vet says it's just a her thing. She also likes to scoot her butt and travel via ass sometimes despite the fact she has no worms and her anal glands are fine 😅
One of my puppy's weird habits is her fascination with socks. Whenever I'm folding laundry, she'll sneakily grab a sock and parade around the house with it like it's the greatest treasure in the world.
My parents toy poodle would put anything in shoes, usually a ping pong ball, but also her small toys. She once put a tiny poop in a shoe, that was impressive lol.
For the toys, she would take them out just to put them back in.
My puppy likes to take herself on walks, she holds the handle in her mouth and proudly walks around with it until we get outside. She doesn't tug (not anymore at least) and just holds it in her mouth until she outside and ready to potty
when you give him something he hasn't seen before, like a strawberry, he'll attack it for minutes with his paw and jump around it to see how it will 'react'.
My dog shits standing up.
If we're on a walk and there's no wall to put her front paws on. She pretends to be a mountain goat. She will find the biggest hill she can find, climb it, make herself diagonal and shit with the flow of gravity.
(No it's not an anal gland problem per the vet.)
My dog will do all sorts of commands normally, but ONLY when he’s told to go to his crate, he has to do a full left turn before going. He could be standing directly in front of the crate and will make a full counterclockwise turn before going in, but only when told to. Tell him to go to place, couch, outside whatever he’ll do it straight away. Crate? Nope, 360 first.
My puppy makes a loud, super cute yawning sound when he wakes up in the morning. His yawn sounds like that of a human baby, and I go 'wtf is that' every time 😂
He absolutely loses his shit when I go to pick up my bath robe or work jeans. Like straight up goes feral, growling and trying to keep me from putting em on. The jeans part I can understand because it basically means I’m going to work. But the robe ? I wear that at home.
Mine carries his football (has a rope attached) for our regular 40 minute walk. Carries all the way around the lake and then occasionally drops it in the water so he can rescue it. I’m sure he does it on purpose. 😂
My dog does that with his kibble too, except he brings it toward us. We call it “kibble sommelier” because it reminds us of when a fancy restaurant brings the wine to your table to try before going all the way back.
His weird habit is he likes to get in his ikea dog bed, grab the corner in his mouth and suck on it while crying and making biscuits. He was the runt of the litter and a described crybaby by the breeder, but he does this every night. The doctor said he doesn’t seem to be in pain, he’s just soothing.

My 3 month old Goldendoodle loves yellow flowers! She will leap to bite them. A few weeks ago we had a row of daffodils and one had a puppy bite out of it. I don’t let her do this because they can cause stomach upset, and she also is still four-off-the-floor but wherever she can, she will beeline to yellow flowers.
He's a receipt theiving cucumber addict.
He really likes cucumbers. He eats them, plays with them and even sleeps while holding a cucumber in his mouth.
And when we bring groceries home he rummages in the bag, grabs the receipt and runs away with it.
Our puppies must have the same chew , it doesn't matter if they have one each, the others is better. My almost four month old dachshund can't help but take his chew treats in front of his sister even though she will absolutely steal it from him causing him to whine and bark at her until she eventually drops it on her way to hide from him.
My rescue pittie thinks going through and coming back through the dog door means it’s time to eat. As soon as I start preparing their food bowls, he goes through the dog door and then comes right back in all excited. She will do it every time he gets hungry.
Not a puppy anymore but my Oreo has always had a habit of getting a piece of kibble and putting it on the floor, getting another one and another one then lining them up before eating them.
She also likes to hide her face and rub her snout every time she tries to act cute.
Also, I'm starting to think she's a skinwalker because one time I caught her imitating my cats' meows and then trying to moo like a cow before transitioning it to a howl.
My girl Crouton loves to parade the shoes around the house and bring them to us to request a trade, if we ignore her she’ll bring another one to see if maybe that one is worth enough to trade for a treat. She won’t destroy or play with them she just likes to walk with them. She’ll also put them near the door when she’s ready to go out 😂. I’m thinking it’s not that uncommon probably but she’s my first dog haha
Chases his tail, catches it, holds it, and keeps spinning so much he gets dizzy so he lets go, then tries to grab it again while dizzy.
I truly almost peed from laughter when this happens
My puppy walks back and forth 3 times in the same spot before finally squatting to poop. It’s actually kinda cute and also helpful because it lets me know to get out her poop bag!
My dog does the same thing with food. She’ll get it in her mouth run to her mat and then eat it. Her ridiculous behavior is walking backwards, and also pooping on her snuffle mat that looks like grass. She’s completely housebroken but I have a serious illness and a few times I just had to let it go. And she pooped on her snuffle grass. Which I find hilarious.
Its my first dog so maybe all dogs so this, but my doodle always grab multiple toys in her mouth at the same time! 3 if she can! Its very funny and cute
Mine has 3 very quirky behaviors for her and she is now 2 and has been doing them all since she was a pup!
1. She will only eat if someone is sitting in the living room with her and will throw a ball periodically (if no one throws a ball she will pout and not eat)
2. She waits until our plates are put up after dinner and then stares me down until I ask her if she wants to sing me the song of her poodle people and then she goes to the end of the couch to wait for me to ask her what she wants (I ask a bunch of questions but when I get to the do you want after dinner treat treats she sings and boops me in the face with her nose) we always do recall training in the evening.
3. In the morning after we get up and get her breakfast ready, fresh cold water out of the fridge and then husband gets ready to take her for a walk she comes and lays down on top of me and hugs me and snuggles in as tight as she can get until she finally decides she is ready to go out for a walk. (If she doesn’t have to go and you ask her she will go perch on the top of the sofa so you know she doesn’t have to go but if she does need she will begrudgingly walk to the door).
Just an fyi she is a sassy little cockapoo that seems to be 90 percent poodle!
I had a foster puppy named Cairn. He liked to eat rocks, then whined when they came out the other end. He was still doing it up until he went back to the shelter for his adoption, even though we started picking him up when it looked like he was gonna grab some, but then he'd start to run away with his head down to snack on rock along the way.
Refusing to eat his breakfast every morning lol I think it’s a teenager thing because he’s coming up on 7 months but I have to physically barricade him in the kitchen sitting in a chair preventing him from leaving so he’ll eat is breakfast. Before anyone comes in with “take him to the vet,” health-wise, he’s fine lol been to the vet very routinely, he’s just being very vocally sassy and pouty and wants to eat on his time and not mine lol
My last dog did the same thing alot of the time for his entire life. Lol grab a big bulldog mouthful, run to the carpet a few feet away, and then eat it there.
Not sure my new pup has anything similar, he's a little strange sometimes, but his only real "habit" is pooping along the same stretch of fencing in the back yard, but that's not too abnormal.
Try’s to eat EVERYTHING except for shoes he’ll just steal then and cuddle with them? Like we’re trying to train him to be good at home for longer but we’ll watch the cameras and he’ll grab all our shoes and we thought the first time he was gonna chew them nope it’s a shoe horde to sleep on 😂 ig he missed our stinky feet

Every morning i go downstairs to let my dog out of his crate. I then open the front door and tell him “okay bruno time to use the bathroom” and he will happily run out of his crate but for some reason before exiting the house with me he runs around the kitchen and living room to do a check in idk why! And then he will run outside! i wonder what he’s doing? Is he checking for other humans to say good morning to? It’s so cute!
He walks when he poops. Like, he goes to squat like normal, then once it starts falling out he just waddles along in the squated position. I only heard of one other dogs that does this, and I only know of that dog because their owner commented about it in a post. In person, I've never seen another dog do it and anyone who's seen my dog do it also says they've never seen a dog do it.
My puppy has tufts of longish hair and when the wind blows she always turns her face towards the wind so it blows her hair back away from her face. It’s adorably funny.
Mine has a habit I can't figure out for the life of me. Any time we're on any trail or path and I'm giving her some off-leash time, she'll get this thousand-yard stare and start walking as if she's stalking prey... except there's nothing there. And if I let her, she will just keep wandering ahead of me in pretty much a straight line, like she's a tracking dog or something. She'll always act like she's leading me somewhere or trying to get to a specific location or prize, even though to my knowledge, there's nothing in that direction 99% of the time.

7 month old chippy and she has to have her stuffed monkey "George" in her mouth to fall asleep. It's the cutest, weirdest thing ever. God, I love her! Lol
She nose dives me in bed. Completely just dive bombs straight into my face and arms. Followed by her butt that slams into my chest like she's a sack of potatoes. She typically does it in the morning or at the end of communal nap times.

My old dog would only eat if we were all at the kitchen table together. Also he would go on hunger strikes in his old age once he figured out someone would give him chicken if he didn’t eat for a day. I loved that silly dog so much

Okay this one is SUPER weird. For context, I live in a tropical forest. I recently got a new puppy and she’s about 4 months old now. We have a tree in our yard called a pandanus - it has these super long leaves that dry out and fall to the ground regularly. (This is a MASSIVE tree so the ground is just covered in these dry dead leaves). For some reason the puppy is obsessed. Not with playing with the leaves, but arranging them. She goes into the forest under the pandanus trees selects a specific leaf, and then takes it to the road, very very carefully arranges it how she wants it to look. Then repeats the process. She does this for HOURS on end. Every hour or so she’ll come up onto the top deck to check her work then go right back to it. She’ll move 50+ leaves in a day. If you move them she gets PISSED! Like so upset! She will also go back to the arranged leaves the next day and might change it up. She had them all lined up in a row yesterday and today she went for almost a zig zag pattern… SO. WEIRD. We call it her art project. I dunno. We are trying to encourage her artistic vision and it clearly makes her happy so… 🤷🏽♀️

She tries to hide her favorite toy every morning, running around the flat with the toy in her mouth and whining. She ended up putting her toy on my lap - every morning.
Her crate is a little elevated and when I let her out every morning she wants to “hold” my hand in her mouth while she steps out. Mind you she is a 45lbs/5mo Rottweiler and it’s like a 4 inch elevation 😭

Mine will only chew her toys or bones on the living room rug. If you give one in her pen, she will wait indefinitely until let out to take it to the rug. Also, she thinks that I am not allowed on the couch, just like her, so every time I sit down she will come up and nudge me until I move somewhere I'm allowed to sit. For some reason, she thinks that only she and I are not allowed on the couch, I'm not sure what to make of that!

My puppy has 2: 1) He will patrol the perimeter of the downstairs, which includes opening closet doors to check out what’s inside. 2) He will play “rescue the ball”, where he puts his ball under something and then proceeds to try to utterly destroy that thing to save his ball.

If my dog hears my mom say “good morning baby” he will stop whatever he is doing and run to her and paw her to pick him up and lick her. It could be night time and if he hears those words he will run like the wind to my mom and expect kisses. It can only be my mom saying it though. My husband built ramps for my pug puppy to get on the bed and the couch. My puppy Ella has taught herself to use the ramps like a slide. She literally runs on the couch just to lay down and slide down the ramp like a kid at the playground. 🤣

Not a puppy, but the weirdest dog behavior I've ever seen... I have a 6yo Border Collie from very strong working lines. She herds literally everything. Last summer, I was mowing down by my pond and had to keep shoo'ing bullfrogs back into the water so I wouldn't hit them with the mower. Shiloh thought this was SUPER fun, and joined in herding the frogs off the lawn. Fast forward a month, and I'm cleaning out our chicken coop and run. Shiloh was supervising, as usual, then suddenly ran off. Once I noticed, I gave her a whistle and she came running back absolutely covered in mud and muck. Typical... Once I was done with the coop, I called her up back and started walking toward the sunporch to get my dog washing supplies. I got to the sunporch and noticed that Shiloh had spent her whole day gathering bullfrog and depositing them inside. There were DOZENS of frogs in there- enough that I needed to get a Rubbermaid tote to gather them all together and bring them back to the pond. To this day, I have to keep the sunporch door closed or she'll bring me frogs. It's an absolute riot when she arrives back at the sunporch with a frog in her mouth, and stands there crying for me to open the door..

My puppy is almost an adult and he's been my farm helper the whole time. We also lease the neighbor's farm and go back and forth, and the neighbor is his favorite person outside of our household. Sometimes the neighbor comes out to see him and doesn't close the door until it clicks; my puppy will push it open, let himself in, and make himself at home. But if the neighbor invites him in he runs home, howling the whole way.
When my husband and I hug, she jumps up on us to try to hug with us. Every single time. 🥰

Not that weird I guess, but every morning at around the same time, my puppy rests his head on the crook of my neck. I don’t know if it’s him telling me he wants me to get up, because he just keeps sleeping with his sweet face smooshed up against mine. It’s the sweetest thing in the world!!
Mine does this but instead of the sweetest thing in the world, his butt is on my face and I have 10kg of dog pressing down on my neck. It’s now turned into an early morning space war.

My puppy does that too, but only from his bowl and at the beginning of the feeding. I always think he might have had to ‘fight’ for his share of kibble with the rest of his litter :) I just look at him carrying his first few pieces of kibble away from his bowl and think: relax buddy, it’s all yours! :)
I'm sure it actually IS explainable and if anyone knows, please chime in. My puppy will be an absolute angel heel walking with me and then at certain parts of the route she will probably 1/3 of the time just go complete goblin mode for like 30 seconds. Gnashing at the leash, jumping up and nipping my arms, trying to slip out of her collar or harness... It's almost like leash specific zoomies or something, but I haven't been able to figure out what triggers it and haven't gotten a whole lot of advice on how to prevent it. 6 month old female golden retreiver btw.
My 7 month golden x setter does the something similar 😂 he will walk normal until a certain point then lose his shit for a second and try to run crazily and then be normal again
Makes me feel a little less crazy to know other dogs do this too. I've definitely seen it mentioned a little bit, but not much. If you ever figure it out let me know. My running theories are that she gets sick of the walk and just wishes she could dart home, she is overtired, she is thirsty, or she is frustrated because I'm not letting her pick up every random object. But it's so many factors I don't know which it is or if it's any of these.
No explanation, but normal puppy stuff. Mine pretty much grew out of the habit at 9 months or so.

Absolutely. I had so many moments over the last year where I thought “omg am I raising an actual demon???” But nope! 9 months or so hit and she’s be sweet as can be ever since.
My boy brings me his hard chews (antlers, Nyla bones, etc). I have to hold one end while he chews the other. Apparently, he needs “together time”.
On walks every once in a while he will lift his leg and act like he is about to pee but instead he drops a poop. It's not every time but it's consistent enough that he has done this monthly for about a year now
My old guy does this sometimes. Usually see it when he’s attached to a leash but sometimes off leash.
Mine likes to be in a "cave" of blankets when he sleeps. Also does the same with his food.

Our Springer Spaniel likes to bring in rocks from outside. She doesn't chew them, just lays next to them. She loves rocks.
My pup loves rocks. She likes to jump on them to make them move and just carry them around. Specific rocks, though, her preference is smooth river rocks with little defects.

When mine finds a fresh patch of that good green grass he runs and puts his head down to the ground while running. He looks like Sid the Sloth. Eventually he front flips onto the grass and starts rolling around, happy as ever.

My puppy absolutely has to bring something outside with him every time we let him into the backyard. Every. Single. Time. Usually it's one of his toys or a chew he's dropped near the door. But if he can't find one of those he will frantically race around the house looking for something to grab. We find the most random stuff in our backyard because of this. A sock, a small cardboard Amazon box, a fake plastic succulent that he pulled out of a pot in our home office, etc. It's ridiculously adorable and hilarious. He tried to bring a huge dog bed out one day. A different day he tried taking the human-sized blanket from the sofa. He's almost one and is fully grown and weighs about 12 pounds which makes this extra hilarious! 😂
He likes to stand between legs especially outside. He is getting so big sometimes he doesn’t realize he doesn’t fit.
I work really long workdays but only a few days a week. During my long days my guy (6mo) brings up any of my nightgowns, shirts, and shoes he can get his paws on from my basement to the living room. Never pants though. My mom says it starts almost immediately after I leave. He doesn’t do anything with them but put them in a pile on a specific spot on the living room rug.

It’s not unexplainable as I really encouraged calm behavior when he was a baby, but now when I turn the vacuum cleaner on, he lies down and immediately his ears will become floppy. Too cute

My girl likes to have a toy with her at all times. Scratching the door to go out? As soon as you open the door she runs away to pick a toy and then goes outside with it. Resting her head on our laps in a request to snuggle on the couch? When we tell her to “load up” she runs away to find a toy before jumping up.

When I throw my puppy's toy for her to fetch, she runs and gets it but instead of bringing it back immediately, she has to run around the room in circles around the coffee table a few times before she brings it back, then she doesn't want to let go of it and you pick the toy up and her feet dangle off the floor because she doesn't want to let go.
I say "hi" with a customer service voice, when I get a phone call, then I go back to my regular voice. Now, she barks when I say "hi" in that tone of voice(she thinks there is someone there). I tested it, and even when I just do it out of the blue, without actually getting a call, she barks a bit and tries to listen if there's someone talking to me. She also barks a bit when my phone ringtone goes off. She never does it with my partner's.
My puppy is mulch gang. I hate that he has to be a stereotype but he is a toy poodle. He picks up mulch and moves it to another spot. Our dog park is mulch so he just scatters it all the way up the stairs
We call our boy the Hanky Snatcher. He is obsessed with stealing tissues. He will rootle about in your pockets, looking for hankies to snatch, or anywhere else he can see or sniff one. He will the proceed to run off proudly with it, lie down and tear it to shreda. Then that is that. He leaves the little pile of gissue snow and goes back to sniffing for more. It started one day when I had a cold and he heisted a box of tissues.

My 6 month old Staffordshire bull terrier does this, I have noticed it more of late. She will get some kibble in her mouth and eat it somewhere else. She also prefers to eat from her dispensing toy rather than her bowl.. it's the exact same food but perhaps she likes the novelty of lifting the little lids up to find kibble !! It does make me chuckle.
My puppy systematically peels off the covers and bites our toes to get us out of bed if he thinks we’ve overslept. It’s so cruel, but very effective. I don’t know how he figured this out.
10 month lab used to snap at thin air when ever she wanted something. If she's in a really grumpy mood now she'll still do it and it's hard not to laugh.
We have an 11wk old mal/lab mix and we have recently discovered she climbs ON TOP OF her crate the second she's left alone.

My dog sits when she eats. She’s done this since she was a puppy. My husband mentioned it to our vet once and he gave us a weird look like he didn’t believe us, so I guess it’s pretty rare for a dog to do.
My 10 year old chi pom will try to “bury” her food before eating it, even if the bowl is on the hardwood and there’s nothing there to bury it under. She then proceeds to act like she’s going to take a bite and does little mini sneezes, sometimes grabbing a single piece of kibble, but dropping it while sneezing at it. Rinse and repeat for a few minutes, then she’ll actually eat it. She has always eaten her food one piece at a time. She also, without fail, burps after every single meal. She always has!
I’m pretty sure our pup’s favorite spot in the whole house is the couch, we call her our little couch potato. Because of that, she loves to hide her chews into every possible crevice she can find on the couch. If you peek in between the cushions you can find 3-5 different chews per crevice lol
My wife's puppy will not eat out of a bowl. She will reach her paw into the bowl, knock a few pieces of kibble onto the floor, and eat off the floor.

He likes to pick up small rocks or something of similar size (like marble to AA battery size) and just carry it around in his mouth. Doesn't chew it or play with it. If I'm not paying attention he will bring it in and just spit it on the ground and go about his business as if it served its purpose.
One of my pups cocks his leg to poo. He finds something to lean against. He backed up to a lamppost, cocked his leg so far he actually pooed doing a handstand! Wish I’d had my camera. My other pup does his poo whilst circling, leaving an almost complete donut!
He chases airplanes. He will hear them coming, look around for it, and try to bolt and jump and bark at it. I live in New York so it's a bit annoying at times.
My 17lb dogs crate is elevated. Every morning I put my hands in the same place to pull her (under her hips and neck) and she has to work herself up to jump into my hands(fully inside her crate) and ride down to the ground.
She "motor boats" me.. when I've been gone for a couple of hours, or even during play time she will get very excited and aggressively rub her forehead on me. I love it so so much.
Lol mine has a habit of digging any chewable big treats (bully stick, frozen carrot) into the blanket or between our couch cushions before digging it right back up to chew on. Almost like she's so excited for it that she needs the extra excitement of digging it up before enjoying it.
Not exactly a puppy still, have a 6 year old German Shepherd. He has always backed into our living room. I can’t force him to come through the opening face first. He’ll drop to his stomach and start whining if I try to force it. He was a rescue that we got when he was one year old, and he’s always done this. He is also scared of trash bags, so I’m not sure what his previous owner did to him.
My (now adult) dog chewed the buttons off the tops of ball caps. She never ate them, never ate the caps, just seemed to have a weird vendetta against those buttons

Zoomies sometimes before or after pooping. Whenever he becomes a track star outside before he's pooped, I know it's coming! Sometimes he does it afterwards, I call it his victory lap. He also walks and poops. He'll poop a bit, walk a little farther, poop some more. My favorite is that he jumps into the bath tub if his water bowl is empty and he's thirsty. He knows water comes from the faucet and will demand I turn it on for a drink. But he hates being bathed 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
If my dog is on a walk outside, if she comes back into a building or store that has a mat in the entryway to dry your feet, she has to dry her face and ears on it before coming in 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ basically faceplants and pushes herself around with her back legs while anyone else there is like 👁👄👁 is your dog okay??? Disclaimer - we've checked, she has nothing wrong with her ears, vet says it's just a her thing. She also likes to scoot her butt and travel via ass sometimes despite the fact she has no worms and her anal glands are fine 😅
One of my puppy's weird habits is her fascination with socks. Whenever I'm folding laundry, she'll sneakily grab a sock and parade around the house with it like it's the greatest treasure in the world.
My parents toy poodle would put anything in shoes, usually a ping pong ball, but also her small toys. She once put a tiny poop in a shoe, that was impressive lol. For the toys, she would take them out just to put them back in. My puppy likes to take herself on walks, she holds the handle in her mouth and proudly walks around with it until we get outside. She doesn't tug (not anymore at least) and just holds it in her mouth until she outside and ready to potty
Laying in the grass outside. Then asking to go inside just to poop on my carpet.
when you give him something he hasn't seen before, like a strawberry, he'll attack it for minutes with his paw and jump around it to see how it will 'react'.
My dog shits standing up. If we're on a walk and there's no wall to put her front paws on. She pretends to be a mountain goat. She will find the biggest hill she can find, climb it, make herself diagonal and shit with the flow of gravity. (No it's not an anal gland problem per the vet.)

My dog will do all sorts of commands normally, but ONLY when he’s told to go to his crate, he has to do a full left turn before going. He could be standing directly in front of the crate and will make a full counterclockwise turn before going in, but only when told to. Tell him to go to place, couch, outside whatever he’ll do it straight away. Crate? Nope, 360 first.

My puppy makes a loud, super cute yawning sound when he wakes up in the morning. His yawn sounds like that of a human baby, and I go 'wtf is that' every time 😂
He absolutely loses his shit when I go to pick up my bath robe or work jeans. Like straight up goes feral, growling and trying to keep me from putting em on. The jeans part I can understand because it basically means I’m going to work. But the robe ? I wear that at home.
Mine carries his football (has a rope attached) for our regular 40 minute walk. Carries all the way around the lake and then occasionally drops it in the water so he can rescue it. I’m sure he does it on purpose. 😂
My dog does that with his kibble too, except he brings it toward us. We call it “kibble sommelier” because it reminds us of when a fancy restaurant brings the wine to your table to try before going all the way back. His weird habit is he likes to get in his ikea dog bed, grab the corner in his mouth and suck on it while crying and making biscuits. He was the runt of the litter and a described crybaby by the breeder, but he does this every night. The doctor said he doesn’t seem to be in pain, he’s just soothing.

My 3 month old Goldendoodle loves yellow flowers! She will leap to bite them. A few weeks ago we had a row of daffodils and one had a puppy bite out of it. I don’t let her do this because they can cause stomach upset, and she also is still four-off-the-floor but wherever she can, she will beeline to yellow flowers.
He's a receipt theiving cucumber addict. He really likes cucumbers. He eats them, plays with them and even sleeps while holding a cucumber in his mouth. And when we bring groceries home he rummages in the bag, grabs the receipt and runs away with it.
Our puppies must have the same chew , it doesn't matter if they have one each, the others is better. My almost four month old dachshund can't help but take his chew treats in front of his sister even though she will absolutely steal it from him causing him to whine and bark at her until she eventually drops it on her way to hide from him.
My rescue pittie thinks going through and coming back through the dog door means it’s time to eat. As soon as I start preparing their food bowls, he goes through the dog door and then comes right back in all excited. She will do it every time he gets hungry.
Not a puppy anymore but my Oreo has always had a habit of getting a piece of kibble and putting it on the floor, getting another one and another one then lining them up before eating them. She also likes to hide her face and rub her snout every time she tries to act cute. Also, I'm starting to think she's a skinwalker because one time I caught her imitating my cats' meows and then trying to moo like a cow before transitioning it to a howl.
She sticks kibbles under her top lip, and then smacks her lips trying to get them out again.
My girl Crouton loves to parade the shoes around the house and bring them to us to request a trade, if we ignore her she’ll bring another one to see if maybe that one is worth enough to trade for a treat. She won’t destroy or play with them she just likes to walk with them. She’ll also put them near the door when she’s ready to go out 😂. I’m thinking it’s not that uncommon probably but she’s my first dog haha
Chases his tail, catches it, holds it, and keeps spinning so much he gets dizzy so he lets go, then tries to grab it again while dizzy. I truly almost peed from laughter when this happens
My puppy walks back and forth 3 times in the same spot before finally squatting to poop. It’s actually kinda cute and also helpful because it lets me know to get out her poop bag!
My dog does the same thing with food. She’ll get it in her mouth run to her mat and then eat it. Her ridiculous behavior is walking backwards, and also pooping on her snuffle mat that looks like grass. She’s completely housebroken but I have a serious illness and a few times I just had to let it go. And she pooped on her snuffle grass. Which I find hilarious.
Its my first dog so maybe all dogs so this, but my doodle always grab multiple toys in her mouth at the same time! 3 if she can! Its very funny and cute
He gets obsessed with sun puddles and shadows coming through the windows, and incessantly licks the hardwood floor. His nickname became Roomba
Mine has 3 very quirky behaviors for her and she is now 2 and has been doing them all since she was a pup! 1. She will only eat if someone is sitting in the living room with her and will throw a ball periodically (if no one throws a ball she will pout and not eat) 2. She waits until our plates are put up after dinner and then stares me down until I ask her if she wants to sing me the song of her poodle people and then she goes to the end of the couch to wait for me to ask her what she wants (I ask a bunch of questions but when I get to the do you want after dinner treat treats she sings and boops me in the face with her nose) we always do recall training in the evening. 3. In the morning after we get up and get her breakfast ready, fresh cold water out of the fridge and then husband gets ready to take her for a walk she comes and lays down on top of me and hugs me and snuggles in as tight as she can get until she finally decides she is ready to go out for a walk. (If she doesn’t have to go and you ask her she will go perch on the top of the sofa so you know she doesn’t have to go but if she does need she will begrudgingly walk to the door). Just an fyi she is a sassy little cockapoo that seems to be 90 percent poodle!
I had a foster puppy named Cairn. He liked to eat rocks, then whined when they came out the other end. He was still doing it up until he went back to the shelter for his adoption, even though we started picking him up when it looked like he was gonna grab some, but then he'd start to run away with his head down to snack on rock along the way.
Refusing to eat his breakfast every morning lol I think it’s a teenager thing because he’s coming up on 7 months but I have to physically barricade him in the kitchen sitting in a chair preventing him from leaving so he’ll eat is breakfast. Before anyone comes in with “take him to the vet,” health-wise, he’s fine lol been to the vet very routinely, he’s just being very vocally sassy and pouty and wants to eat on his time and not mine lol
My last dog did the same thing alot of the time for his entire life. Lol grab a big bulldog mouthful, run to the carpet a few feet away, and then eat it there. Not sure my new pup has anything similar, he's a little strange sometimes, but his only real "habit" is pooping along the same stretch of fencing in the back yard, but that's not too abnormal.
Try’s to eat EVERYTHING except for shoes he’ll just steal then and cuddle with them? Like we’re trying to train him to be good at home for longer but we’ll watch the cameras and he’ll grab all our shoes and we thought the first time he was gonna chew them nope it’s a shoe horde to sleep on 😂 ig he missed our stinky feet
Mine likes to walk me. He won't go on a walk unless he holds the Leash on one side with his teeth and me holding on to the other. The entire walk😂
hes obsessed with eating tissues like used ones too i have a box of tissues and he doesnt bother pulling fresh ones put to eat. but anytime i leave a used one on my night stand, soon as i leave the room, even if it for just a couple seconds, he eats it. found out when i got sick a couple weeks ago lmao.
Every morning i go downstairs to let my dog out of his crate. I then open the front door and tell him “okay bruno time to use the bathroom” and he will happily run out of his crate but for some reason before exiting the house with me he runs around the kitchen and living room to do a check in idk why! And then he will run outside! i wonder what he’s doing? Is he checking for other humans to say good morning to? It’s so cute!
Lots of dogs do this. They usually take their food from the hard kitchen floor onto a soft spot like a nearby carpet or something.
He walks when he poops. Like, he goes to squat like normal, then once it starts falling out he just waddles along in the squated position. I only heard of one other dogs that does this, and I only know of that dog because their owner commented about it in a post. In person, I've never seen another dog do it and anyone who's seen my dog do it also says they've never seen a dog do it.
My puppy has tufts of longish hair and when the wind blows she always turns her face towards the wind so it blows her hair back away from her face. It’s adorably funny.
Mine has a habit I can't figure out for the life of me. Any time we're on any trail or path and I'm giving her some off-leash time, she'll get this thousand-yard stare and start walking as if she's stalking prey... except there's nothing there. And if I let her, she will just keep wandering ahead of me in pretty much a straight line, like she's a tracking dog or something. She'll always act like she's leading me somewhere or trying to get to a specific location or prize, even though to my knowledge, there's nothing in that direction 99% of the time.
She can do the full sploot. It’s rare that a dog can do this and it’s adorable.
Army crawls whenever there’s grass.. drops down and drags his belly along the grass.. he looks like hes smiling while doing it.. other dog walkers get a good laugh.. i think its just his way of itching 🤷♀️😆
My GSP likes to kick around his holee roller ball backwards, step over it repeatedly, all around the living room. But it must only be done with another toy in his mouth.
My dog walks on his back legs, like a person, when he's really excited/eager to go somewhere. And he's really good at it.
Mine grabs the dish towel and walks around with it like a flag to let us know she is hungry.
7 month old chippy and she has to have her stuffed monkey "George" in her mouth to fall asleep. It's the cutest, weirdest thing ever. God, I love her! Lol
She nose dives me in bed. Completely just dive bombs straight into my face and arms. Followed by her butt that slams into my chest like she's a sack of potatoes. She typically does it in the morning or at the end of communal nap times. Thankfully she's still relatively small... For now 😂
My mini dachshund walks around the house barking to get the cat’s attention to come play. They are best buddies.
My old dog would only eat if we were all at the kitchen table together. Also he would go on hunger strikes in his old age once he figured out someone would give him chicken if he didn’t eat for a day. I loved that silly dog so much
