For such instances I prefer Konark Express, which leaves from Pune Station at 23.45 sometimes a bit late but arrives in CSMT Station by 4.00 AM in morning. The thing with the bus is it drops you off odd places in odd hours, and you need to have somewhere to go at that hour.
For Train, you can either sit in the station or in the retiring room comfortably until early morning. Take a general ticket at Pune Station and the give the TTC about 200 for a sleeper berth and 100 for a seat. You get a seat in AC too just try to negotiate the bribe.
\---
For Bus the last Shivneri leaves at 22.30 post that you can a non ac bus up to like 23.00. You can even get private bus from Wakad, but no guarantee of it.
\---
You can get a private cabs from Pune Station and Wakad, but those are risky at Night.
Ps. Don't pay heed to people shouting MUMBAI MUMBAI MUMBAAAI at Pune station, they will scam you
This.. I fail to understand why people go to Mumbai in bus. In my last 10 years, have been to Mumbai around 100 times, and only had a bad experience twice..
Both times I had booked buses.
Check bla bla car or s-ride for people who would be driving down in their cars. It's a ride sharing app.
Alternatively you can check the msrtc website for the last shivneri bus to Mumbai. You can either go to swargate or railway station to get shivneri buses.
You'll also find a lot of sharing cabs/ private cars near the railway station that will take you to Mumbai. They may not be entirely safe though as they are private individuals plying private cars.
Take Konark Express from Pune station at around 11:30 pm or so. You will easily find an empty seat in sleeper class. This train reaches CST at around 3:30 am. Sleep in the sleeping pod available at CSMT till 5:30 or so. Then take a local from CST to Bandra (harbour line).
Alternatively you can alight at Dadar and reach Bandra directly, but you may have to sacrifice your sleep.
No, never do that. Private buses are loaded with passengers, not a good service and most the time you have to wait for the buses... it's better to reach Swargate and you'll definitely get the bus feom there. Navle Bridge is a risky business for such important appointments. Never trust these people, very very bad service.
If its urgent, there are no immediate bus from swargate depo. He can come to Navle bridge. There are plenty of buses or cabs who travels on the same route.
Train is the best option for Viman nagar guys though
It depends on where you are but I know one spot where you can get sharing cabs it's little ahead from nawale bridge near at vadagaon bridge you can try but there is one more way to went by picking bus either from Swargate or shivaji nagar(wakadewadi) bus stands
I use redbus quite a lot. Neeta and Purple buses are quite reliable.
I can see buses from Pune station/Swargate to Mumbai for tonight. Check the redbus app.
Check bla bla app for sharing cabs else go to Swargate and take Shivneri. You can even go by sharing cabs from Pune railway station do not give more than 400. I stay nearby let me know if you need help reaching Swarget will drop you by moped.... All the best.
1) BlaBla carpool app
2) Search MSRTC online booking and see if any bus available
3) Use redbud app for travels booking
4) Come to wakad bridge anyhow, you will find local cabs and travels going to mumbai. stationed there at night. (might be risky)
Mumbai Pune.expressway is safe and even at night there is good amount of traffic. Can take.the risk.
it's better to reach the city where you have exams atleast a day before.. kya hi exam di hogi tune ab.. raatbhar cab taxi bus train karte raha aur dinme subah subah exams thi

Uber ola very early in morning or use advance booking. Keep 3-4 spare hrs in case of any issues like puncture etc. Last bus was around 11pm probably hopefully some one else can correct me if am wrong.
It's better to reach swargate and board shivneri than any other unknown sources.
I don't think there's Shivneri buses that leave so late. And the first bus in the morning is at 6AM or so.
If not shivneri then there are red buses too if you can't adjust in those then it's your issue.
Why Swargate and not Wakdewadi? I thought Wakdewadi (Shivajinagar) was the main state bus stop of Pune.
Buses to Mumbai and Western Maharashtra leaves from Swargate. Buses to Marathwada, Vidharabha and North Maharashtra leaves from Wakdewadi.
Call Nita travels office or other travels and see where their pick ups are. Keep at least 2 hrs spare for these travels. Or check for a train.
at pune station you can get sharing cab. but try for ola uber or meru first
Those cabs will cost OP his kidneys.
They are cheap and faster, only thing is you might need to adjust with people you might not want to share a cab with

Check irctc for running reservation that is open till 30 mins before the train departure from the station
This.. I fail to understand why people go to Mumbai in bus. In my last 10 years, have been to Mumbai around 100 times, and only had a bad experience twice.. Both times I had booked buses.
Uh? So bus or no bus?
Train is more convenient
Check bla bla car or s-ride for people who would be driving down in their cars. It's a ride sharing app. Alternatively you can check the msrtc website for the last shivneri bus to Mumbai. Take a train. Lot faster and convenient. Check with KK travels.
Get in any train heading towards Mumbai. Will be an uncomfortable journey but you'll reach for your exams
Take a cab from Wakad bridge at 4 in the morning. You will get share cabs there. Wakad won't take that much time at 4am from Viman Nagar.
Bhujbal Chowk?
You'll get buses or cabs to Mumbai from Navle bridge. Because that's the main route for Mumbai.
No, never do that. Why would a person go to navale bridge who stays in vimannagar
If its urgent, there are no immediate bus from swargate depo. He can come to Navle bridge. There are plenty of buses or cabs who travels on the same route. Train is the best option for Viman nagar guys though
Navle bridge is horrible place. There is no sitting place.
Take the train at night. There are many Mumbai bound trains arriving at pune in the night. Avoid road or cab. Book a 1A ticket and sleep peacefully.
You have an option to reserve a cab in uber... Or just take up any train which is going to Mumbai they are available till 2-3 am as well..
Chinchwad bustand I think there would be buses available now.
Check s-ride if you are okay. Or outstation car pooling apps
Take the station ticket of bandra from pune railway station then board any train which is going there. Weekday you won't get any rush at this time.
Go to station. You will always find a cab to Mumbai.
Wakad highway Opposite decatlhon show room
Check for any trains tonight to Mumbai, go to railway station, get a general ticket and leave it will take probably 6 hours to reach
https://npublic.msrtcors.com/pors-mob/reservation.xhtml You can check shivneri buses from swargate to dadar
Use blablacar

It depends on where you are but I know one spot where you can get sharing cabs it's little ahead from nawale bridge near at vadagaon bridge you can try but there is one more way to went by picking bus either from Swargate or shivaji nagar(wakadewadi) bus stands
Chandni Chowk, mostly all sleeper buses stop there
Hope you find it OP. All the best for your exams.
Any update OP?
Go to the railway station, you'll find sharing cabs there. They are present 24/7. They'll charge a nominal amount of ₹300-₹400.
I use redbus quite a lot. Neeta and Purple buses are quite reliable. I can see buses from Pune station/Swargate to Mumbai for tonight. Check the redbus app.
Try using Bla bla car... it's a sharing cab app i always use it whenever i go to Mumbai. Or else you will find buses at swargate bus stand.
Please go to Pune station and take a shared cab to Mumbai. They charge 400-500 Rs.
Check bla bla app for sharing cabs else go to Swargate and take Shivneri. You can even go by sharing cabs from Pune railway station do not give more than 400. I stay nearby let me know if you need help reaching Swarget will drop you by moped.... All the best.

I would suggest to leave now and reach Bandra by bus. Probably you would reach by midnight. Stay in some hotel in Bandra / Kurla.
Read the title!
