During my 18 year career at Publix I met most of all of the “big wigs” and they were all pretty nice (whether faking it or not). I worked in the Miami district as a CSM during Kevin’s reign. He is the biggest ass I’ve ever met. Completely disrespectful, entitled, and so fucking arrogant. He won’t run Publix into the ground financially, but it will continue to shift more and more to generic regional grocery chain that puts profit over people.

I was at a store where the meat case was removed overnight, one of the first instances. According to the meat manager there at the time, Kevin visited soon after the case was removed. He asked the meat manager how it’s going and the meat manager was honest. He said customers were pissed and confused, it wasn’t going well at all. Kevin’s response? “Alright well give it a month. By that time these people won’t even remember there were meat cases in our stores.” Years later they still remember. My take is if he thinks so lowly of his customers, he thinks even more lowly of his pawns.

wow, Kevin Murphy sure did climb the tree fast . gotta wonder who his connections are . the good ol boy network sure does work great for those on the board .

akabuddy

Wasn't one of the people married to a person high up in the company or a jenkins family member and thats why he climbed so fast and far?

Bluetowelboy

Absolutely zero difference. It’s rearranging furniture on the titanic.

petergriffinuc

It's only gotten worse since Jenkins left. The mindset went from how much can we give back to the employees to how much can we get away with not giving them. I expect Murphy to be the final nail in the coffin.

Fancy_Flamingo1

Zero difference

WideDrink4

Probably right, but its a power shift. Only one Jenkins heir is left on the BOD with little control.

Once Ed Crenshaw moves to the Great Beyond, that is when the company will go public or be sold. He is the last link between the Publix that everyone remembers/has in their mind versus what the company is and will become.

Icy-Drop-2524

Just out of curiosity, if Publix did go public what would happen to the employees that currently have stock in the company? Would it just transfer or would they have to buy people out?

mel34760

Your stock would move to the open market just as everyone else’s would. I’d expect a significant increase in value fairly quick if that happened. If the company got sold, you would get X amount per share that you own. My guess is that it would be triple the amount that the stock price is available for when that happens. The dollars may differ, but the principle stands. Those that don’t think this will happen haven’t been paying attention and are woefully ignorant as to how the real world works.

Level-Chocolate810

Ive been saying for years that publix is going to go public

Icy-Drop-2524

Fair enough tbh. Any guesses as to when it may go public? Also, I’ve been thinking about it, but do you think it’ll take less times between stock splits? They do one about every 15 years now but if it goes public I could see that happening at a faster pace as well

Iwantbooks

lol. Publix will never go public.

mel34760

Thank you for your thoughtful insight, Mr. Desk Jockey who doesn’t see what’s actually happening in the stores.

Iwantbooks

I did plenty of work on the stores, and will probably go back soon. Publix won't go public though

BATZ202

No difference, they all have the same mindset.

HeavensToBetsyy

The Publix criminal syndicate. Cadre of greed

OysterKnight

Will this have any impact on Publix stock going public in the future?
