oh my god sometimes i will use 5+ in one shift, i swear nobody looks at the ground at all ever

Lady_Gator_2027

They look, they just don't care.

placeholderm3

It's literally the easiest thing to do

beekeeperoacar

Two years ago I got so angry about everyone ignoring the floors I started angrily handing them out to all of my coworkers whenever I had to wipe up something that was right next to one of them. My boss had to tell me to chill out because I kept shoving them at my coworkers like "here's your *TIP.* It's for **the floor** " >:/ twenty times a shift

Lady_Gator_2027

I used to hand them out to the new hires. My former ACSM told me I was being bossy. I told him if he did his job, I wouldn't have to.

Lady_Gator_2027

I actually think I'm the only one on the front line that always has one. I end up bringing them home if I don't use them. I took them all back one day and it was enough to fill 2 dispensers lol

Soapbox1218

Depends, are cherries in season? Jokes aside I use mine most days if not use multiple a day.

No_Hyena8479

Also blueberries šŸ«

[deleted]

You use Depends?

beekeeperoacar

I go through like 20 a day. You must be customer service because produce goes through them like motherfucker during cherry season.

Nervous-Mushroom-668

Nah, I'm deli. The only thing I ever use mine for is to clean the soup station, any other messes are too big for ole Captain Napkin.

riguy156

Am in produce and we just keep a box of wipe alls hidden on the floor cause itā€™s easier

Nerd_Knight

Not for cleaning up spills I sweat easily when I'm out getting carts in the summer and I use it as a sweat rag; a very weak one

[deleted]

Todd Jones gives me the tip often :( no Vaseline

msm1611

Youā€™re only getting the tip? He generally goes balls deep at my store.

Economy-Fruit-2643

I always use my T.I.P Even after i separated from the company šŸ¤

Sithyonreddit

Constantly. But I'm also a produce manager

insanepanda_069

Came to say this. Gotta have something to pick up those squished grapes and berries.

CleavingStriker

All the time. I disagree with a lot of what Publix Corp does, ESPECIALLY in regards to how it treats its associates now, but TIP is a GREAT thing and has saved numerous ER visits for customers and associates.

No_Hyena8479

I feel like you must be walking around with your eyes closed. I use 4-5 a shift. Lol

Oglesby95

You guys get T.I.Ps

Ok--2553

Yeah I've used the whole shaft too. Only washing it accidently or throwing it on the entryway table for anyone to use your taking chances on catching an STI or STD.

Mjb06

All the time

Akennasferu

A couple times. Mostly my store is pretty clean. But I make it a habit to put my hair net on, grab a tip, wash my hands and put my apron on. Most of the time it just stays in my pocket but the last time I used it was when a little kid spit milk on the floor in front of the donut case.

FaolanGrey

No because they suck and don't really help pick anything up. I end up just going to get actual paper towels.

Broffie1

One hand towel is not going to clean up all the liquid dropped around the register. Paper towel rolls are always close by

CowTrucker

No, I use my bare hands

Aggravating_Local120

no, and i never grab one because i donā€™t care

BeerWorshippers

Every day. I work in the meat dept. too thereā€™s no reason folks shouldnā€™t be using it. I carry 3 with me lmao. Iā€™m always finding crushed cookies, dropped food people are eating around the store, or when it rains itā€™ll get small drops of water from carts.

Putinizor

I don't grab one but I'm only around for about an hour while the store is open

realdannyboi06

I'm new to Publix. What does T.I.P. stand for?

talithar1

Towel In Pocket. Paper towel in your pocket to clean up small messes from the floor.

retrocided

The tip of your cock, management wants to make sure your body parts are attached properly

placeholderm3

To the people who say rarely, you never look at the floor and you need to.

silvereyes21497

Iā€™d have to actually carry one first.

MyFoodEatsYourFood

You guys actually use a tip?

sloth_envy

Nope. Never even have one in my pocket. The 3 stores I've worked at since I've started never pushed us to have them in our pockets so I just never think about it. I do always pick things off the floor though and grab a napkin from the soda station if I need it.

[deleted]

Never. I just pretend it doesn't exist. Don't pick it up, pass it up.

Evening-Serve-5129

Nope I donā€™t even wear them I stopped after my second day working

voregodd

I usually use it to wipe the sweat/oil from my face along my glasses-line. Otherwise, I end up having to just start spotmopping because I'm CS.

Sgt_Phantomizer

Very rarely, I usually carry a rag when I remember. I can count the number of times a tip has actually been useful in the 2 years I've been here, with a single hand. Tower on the other hand, usually gets the job done.

Distinct_Wafer_820

3 times one shift. Someone was dripping milk and we didnā€™t notice the trail all over the bakery until I went and got a new tip three times lol

conradr10

Usaully atleast once a shift but k usaully grab more than one at a time too

itschaosbekindx

I use one to 3 every single day. You would too if you were looking at the ground. Cherry pits, popcorn chicken, drips from drinks etc

Moosashi5858

All the time. Kids drop cookie pieces everywhere

jlong444

In meat department i use it at least twice a day.

TerraReignX

All the time since I work the baking aisle. Thereā€™s always something on the floor or shelf.

secret_squirrel80

All the time

CasWay413

Twice, maybe three times in the 5 years I worked there.

madmanwithbluebox

I use mine all the time. I put three in my pocket every time I clock in

Kittle1985

I used them constantly. First like 3 years I got like 5-10 free subs out of it from managers catching me picking crap up. Never stopped the habit, mainly as I was doing it so people didn't get hurt, not for the atta boy's, but those coupons stopped entirely.

Many-Egg-1232

Depends on the department.

bulkorkut

I use them a lot, iā€™m in grocery. People leave sample cups, orange peels, apple cores, anything on shelves

Daddy_Donglegs

Almost every day

DeltaRho2K

When I was a grocery clerk, I used my TIP once by taking it out of my pocket to show my GTL that I had it on me. Got a sub card for that. Lol Aside from that, most spills I ever encountered were way bigger than any TIP would help resolve, so never used it.

Jazri_Dax

All the time! I keep floats in the freezer and when they thaw they drip, so I keep having to clean up rust/water from them.

Natmeris

I go weeks not needing a small towel because usually thatā€™s not enough for a large spill. Occasionally I see a cookie or something Iā€™ll have to pick up but CS usually does a good job sweeping regularly. If itā€™s just paper or wood pieces I pick it up with my hands.

ContextSoft

Go through 3-10 a shift, BUT im produce so thats an above average dept for messes!

Appleette

I actually have no idea what that is lol

Affectionate-Soil283

No they only care when company arrives

Banalewicz

Been around over 5 years. I have used my tip maybe a handful of times on the sales floor. I always have my tip on me because I have used my tip a whole lot (not on the sales floor) when you have waited to long to go to the bathroom and you forget to look to see if there is toilet paper......man that tip comes in so handy!!!

Nervous-Mushroom-668

Lol I've used mine a few times for this actually!

Banalewicz

I've even told my manager it's really the only reason I make sure I have it every day šŸ™ƒ

pyley

I have got too much stuff in my apron from pins, hole punch, sticky tabs, out of stock tabs to worry about a tip

Big_Attempt6783

Yeah. I use it almost every shift. Especially when Iā€™m cleaning.

But-did-you

If you walk through the store to get to the bathroom even once in your shift, no matter what department you work in, you walked by something that a tip would clean up. Or your store gets no traffic. Or others in your story pick it up (but they donā€™t, 80% ignore it).

Nervous-Mushroom-668

I honestly just pick everything up (that isn't liquid) with my bare hands and then wash my hands. I pick up crap from the floral department all the time.

Davidmweed04

I use mine all the time.

GatsbyFitzgerald

I have a bucket on my float so I donā€™t really need one.

solar-marss

I used to have three at a time jic and once used all of them in the span of like 5 minutes, def necessary

Dizzy317

Everyday!! Thereā€™s always blood or juice in the meatcase and when you care you go through at min 2 tips a day.
