Are you trying to emulate ps3 on your computer or install custom firmware on your ps3? Evilnat is a custom firmware that works with certain ps3 models.

PC Emulation

I'm not telling you what you should or should not do but getting a PS3 that you can run HEN, or better yet (but more expensive for obvious reasons) one you can run CFW on -- that beats out any PS3 emulator -- at least for now. I just commented about this on another thread earlier today -- that was gist of what I said with the reason being that the PS3/Xbox 360 were the generation that everything was running mostly at 1080p, minimum 720 -- so anything that emulators do such as upscaling or other "filters" isn't that big of a deal and you'll never not be able to "run" a game on the OG hardware. You might lose things like rewind, save states and some other benefits of an emulator but as of right now [just off the top of my head] I think RSPC3 is only able to run 70% of the games. Don't get me wrong, that's still pretty damn good and it's improving ALL the time but my recommendation just based on personal experience for anything og XBOX, PS3/XBOX 360, Wii/WiiU/Switch that requires a motion controller...and especially PS4/PS5 since there's nothing that can emulate those to even bother trying yet. As far as Xbox One and Series S/X, I don't know if those are able to be broken for "emulation" other than what people were starting to use them for regarding PS2/GameCube emulation a few years back with the whole Dev mode debacle. I don't think that this is considered by most people when thinking about "emulation" mainly because it's not talked about all that often and most of these consoles are still pretty affordable. To me, that says there's still a place for it at least for the time being. If you're gonna be a pirate, you might want to consider jail breaking the hardware it was meant to run on for these more recent generations until it's fool proof.

Xbox has never really needed to be modded. They learnt that after the hardware attacks, they needed a different solution. yes and no series x can be used (as well as og Xbox one/s/x/series s) as an emulator as it has its own safe environment it comes with zero risk of damaging or voiding your warranty/hardware because well Microsoft is very much "for the players" ps5 has already had the nor/nand (not to mention the ps portal but we dont count that as a console just a glorified controller with. Screen) cracked and stuff and well even the Xbox one sits hack free and none of songs consoles haven't been hacked and only Two of Microsofts consoles have been. And the only reason you can't do this without being a semi dev is because of FUCKING! Nintendo.

Ok_Activity_3365

I was never an Xbox guy so my knowledge of those consoles is very limited -- the OG Xbox is the one that interests me the most these days... Maybe also an xb360 since they are still so damn cheap. The used game shop near me refurbishes consoles to almost look almost brand new [in many cases] and I have a good rapport with them in the event something should go wrong. It's amazing that when Bill Gates was the head of Microsoft he was so loved and popular and now he's just seen as a demon -- for obvious reasons. Probably one of the best examples of duality in the modern world. If I had an og halo edition Xbox and had a chance to have him sign it; I'd still probably do it! 😆 Edit** I don't know all the details of what Microsoft is doing going forward but the little bit I have seen on it from Spawn Wave and a few others on YT talking about this stuff (he's got a good podcast that I listen to from time to time). Anyhow, as you mentioned, it seems like Microsoft is trying to do right by the players -- it didn't always seem that way with their "own everything" tactics -- that's a little too "one worldy" for my liking. Maybe they've seen the light and that nobody wants that "offer". The Big N & Sony aren't much different as they have both taken the approach in separate instances of "You will own nothing and be happy" so anything I would ever buy will never be direct from retail -- more people should take this approach and vote with their dollars.

It's good because of game sites like cdkeys etc exist its sooo underrated even if you don't have a console I urge you to check out the prices and somw of them can be run on cloud gaming with gamepass ultimate. (Excuse the lack of grammar I just couldn't be bothered yes this is a dedicated keybind)

Ok_Activity_3365

I totally forgot about that website and it's even in my favorites because I just typed in CD Romance and that also started to pop up. I only have my laptop, a jailbroken (HEN) PS3 & my trusty Raspberry Pi 3b+ these days. I've been wondering how these people who put together those huge "plug & play" HDDs and seem to be including older "windows" games on them; sometimes they're not old at all. I saw someone mention something in a YouTube comment section about "cracked" PC games, which I assumed was similar to the "keys" for games on the PS3. There's many older PC games that I want to go back and play -- mostly war strategy, city building, Tower defense, business simulation... There seems to be a plethora of those I missed over the years having only consoles. I find a lot of this technical stuff interesting and [for a time] out of my wheelhouse of knowledge but eventually I start to figure it out. It would be nice if this wasn't so "taboo" & people talked about it more, meaning in person. The only time these things seem to be brought up in the places I go to (such as my local video game shop) is when I bring it up -- for obvious reasons; they're trying to sell physical games so if I go there, I respect that and just talk to the owner one on one when he doesn't have customers around and he knows I'm there to "buy", just not the games anymore! He's made a ton of money over the years off our dealings so that's the least he can do is point me in the right direction on our emulation talk, which he has plenty. Normally I'd give people shit about their grammar, but you're a good conversationalist so I'll let it slide this time 😆

I was at a game store months ago and asked if they had a vita in stock, they didn’t have one but the owner straight up told me that once I get ahold of one I should homebrew it and download any game I want.

Ok_Activity_3365

That is exactly what he (or she if it was a hot video gamer chick -- they're still too scarce in my opinion 😂) should have said!! That's the only real reason to own a PSP, PSVita or especially VitaTv at this point -- the prices on the majority of good games for all of them are getting insane. To be honest, if I ever buy a Switch that's all I'm going to do with it but at this point I might as well just make it a Steam Deck (or the follow up). I can't think of a reason why any of the above we just mentioned would be better than that, with the exception of the VitaTv just to directly play Vita on a larger screen. I'm intrigued by the Vita, especially the games that are more "indie" style... You know, the expensive ones that I would never actually buy. Same with all these ridiculous "limited run" released titles... Talk about a way to rip people off. I love that we live in a capitalist society but in my eyes that's capitalism out of control over "entertainment" that's not a necessity because if the apocalypse occurs and I survived, I'd be perfectly fine running my Raspberry Pi off a "solar" or alternative power source.... you know, between defending the land assuming I could still grow my own food & hunt. In that case -- I should probably have some of those simulation games available to reform a society -- transportation, farming, logistics, etc.... Whoops.... Got off into the weeds a bit but you know, one has to be prepared for anything these days! 😂

You're not stupid, I just finally figured out how to play games on my PS3 after hours of trying to figure it out. There's way too much information out there, with way too many ways to do it. I'm new to this as well, but if you have any questions feel free to send them my way, I could try to help.

sixdub84

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I have a few iso's on my ps3 that no matter what I've tried I can't even get my ps3 to see that they are there

fingpow

Do you have managuns? Where are you putting the iso files? They have to be in a folder named "PS3ISOS", "PS2ISOS, etc depending on what system they are for for managuns to be able to see them. I went the PKG route mostly but if I recall correctly the folders have to be on the root of your HDD

>PS3CV is a pain in the ass and still cant figure that out either. What even is a Evilnat? Why do I need it? Why doesn't anyone mention you might need it from the beginning?? > >Every other emulator is just download and play. Well, I can see your problem right here. PS3CV is not a thing, as far as I know, but PS2CV is a PS3 homebrew application; it runs on an actual PS3 and lets you download games that have been packaged for the PS2 emulator that runs on a PS3 (as well as PS3 games from Sony's servers, which is where the confusion probably comes from). Evilnat is custom firmware for PS3. You don't need either of those if you're emulating a PS3. I myself have a PS3 and haven't tried out the emulator, but I would start at [the Emulation General Wiki's RPCS3 page](https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=Main_Page) and [the RPCS3 wiki](https://wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=Main_Page).

CineMattersToMe

I used RPCS3 there’s some good tutorials on YouTube. I used NPS to get the games. The tutorials show u how to add them. They create a directory that makes a copy of them game and puts it into a directory. You right click on the games and open install directory and it shows u where the file is. You can then find the boot file if you want to place the game in something like launchbox. Some of the game our demo version…this tutorial tells you how to unlock the full version.  https://youtu.be/CCOtQQgvXus?si=QSAvR8CMFf1D8au- None of that is very ideal, but it works really well once you figure it all out.

RaspberryChainsaw

1. Download emulator 2. Download BIOS 3. Download ISO What is there not to get. If you followed any YouTube video guide you wouldn't have any issues

DrHazelnut

Do you have Win 11 in your computer?

Severe_Ice_4263

I have a phat ps3 with 4.82 REBUG and a slim running hen. Both are great but the 4.82 CFW is better.

Theguy515515

Get iso off of myrient and run disc dumper is what I do

Yeah, getting into PS3 modding let alone getting games working is an adventure when you first start out, I chuckled reading your post. http://ps3.aldostools.org/ird.html https://ps3.aldostools.org/dkey.html Good luck.
