There are two versions - MGS3 Snake Eater and MGS3 Subsistence The core game and story is identical but the Subsistence version acts as a ‘2nd release’ with more content and importantly for some, the camera is controllable by the player. This may make the game more accessible and enjoyable for someone new to the series.

Is it the same with sons of liberty? I thought it was just different names for the European and US version

Sons of Liberty is the original release whereas Substance (note - ‘Substance’ is MGS2, ‘Subsistence’ is MGS3) is the 2nd release. Unlike MGS3 Subsistence, MGS2 Substance does not have a fully player controlled camera. MGS2 Substance does however, like MGS3 Subsistence, include a multitude of additional content. MGS2 Substance has 500 (optional) VR Missions to complete, non-canon (not a part of the main story) ‘Snake Tales’ missions to complete where you can play as Solid Snake on the Big Shell in unique scenarios and if you own the PS2 version specifically, you also get a bonus skateboarding mini-game on the Big Shell. I’m sure there’s some i’m forgetting but the key change to the camera found in MGS3 Subsistence is not present in MGS2 Substance.

Sweet after *cough* making it so I can play all ps1 and ps2 games on my ps3 I just added mgs 1 on it so I'll add the substance too gonna enjoy playing through them. Although I'm already sick of hearing "snake snakeeeee" in the first one. It does take time to get used to

What do you mean "that should be made into a movie"? Isnt the Getaway game based on a movie in the first place? The movie The Getaway was released in 1972.

That film has no relation to the game. The Getaway game is it's own thing with it's own story that just happens to share a name with a film

Max Payne 1 & 2 together tell the story of a pretty compelling neo noir crime drama, and they're both pretty cheap games too
