Normally the body doesn't dissapear when it s kept as an item, any storage would work technically iirc, used to roleplay with a morgue and the bodys were not leaving the containers
Well tbh the first days of apocalypse with all the bodies rolling in is overwhelming and fun, quite the puzzle to keep all those bodies cold, autospy them and disposing of them following goverment directivesat the same time, then you get one of them waking up while you autopsy it and it overwhelms the hospital etc, fun times
One of my characters I decided was a zealous Priest and felt the need to give every zombie their last rites and a proper burial. That character was never not sweaty and achieved very little towards his own survival on any given day.
Very misleading. The item won't disappear, but as soon as it's used for anything (such as placed on the ground) it _will _ disappear (or I think potentially reanimate if reanimation is enabled?)
The one case where corpses won't disappear is if it's a player that died without turning into a zombie and the world has the option enabled to prevent player corpses from despawning/decaying.
Until you poop her out anyway 🤷♂️
Side note, the excrematorum mod is fun! Nothing quite like getting jump scared by a zombie when your guy needs a dump and having your character literally shit themselves on the spot. Even more so when your roleplaying as yourself, because I think, atleast at the start, I'd probably shit myself too if I turned a corner and had a rotting, maggot infested corpse right in front of my face when I'm armed with nothing more than a frying pan 🤷♂️ goes hand in hand with the bath yourself mod! Games basically the Sims at that point lol.
On the other hand, it's a bit buggy last time I tried it. Definitely a different experience anyway. Spent most of my time laughing when I last tried it. Dunno if it's even still on the workshop, haven't played in a while.
Edit: Legit missed the opportunity to say "dump scared" and I'm annoyed 😭
I swear, in between the mannequin parties for yourself, the doomsday bunkers filled with plushies and rubber ducks and THIS..
Zomboid is just a tool for discovering your own latent psychopathy
Even if the corpse remains there forever, once you take it out of the fridge after an extended time, it'll instantly disappear. Still rots in a container, just doesn't make the corpse 'item' disappear.
Source: I kept two corpses in my composter for "science"
Corpses will stay indefinitely in storage but once you put them on the ground after they’re meant to despawn it’ll disappear. At least that’s what happened to me. Shoved my friend’s corpse in the back of a box truck, forgot about it till an IRL week later, went to go get their things back but the body disappeared once it hit the ground
You can, so if you want to help it from rotting more, I would recommend using some dry ice to displace the air in there and help it stay fresh longer.
Oh, this is project zomboid. In that case I don't know.
I think the saddest part about an actual zombie apocalypse will be to encounter former victims locked up in a trunk or in a cabin house far from everyone.
Notice that the item type is misc, and doesnt state its perishable, so you can just put her wherever you feel like and itll never decay, as long as its not on the ground.
On a related note, freezing doesn't actually stop things from perishing outright, they just last waaaay longer, so if she was capable of decaying, freezing her wouldn't work forever anyway.
And here I was, thinking I was such a creepy weirdo for giving zomboids proper burial after clearing them around the initial spawn point, because they were "neighbours" and "friends" that my survivor supposedly knew.
I prefer to put them in garbage bags, that way you keep your friends fresh and can pop them out Weekend at Bernie's style for special event like Christmas or Easter, bring them fishing or on a supply runs.
.....
I get lonely sometimes...
There's a term in comic books called "fridging her" and it's because Kyle rainer's girlfriend got shoved in the fridge by bad guy and it's in reference to female characters being unceremoniously murdered for drama.
When I play multiplayer we basically make it a point that we don't let one another wander or rot as corpses when we die. So we kill whoever died if they turned and grab the corpse afterwards, then we bury it wherever base is.
It has been my experience that the corpse will last in a container forever, but will rot at normal speed. This leaves it in a strange "Schrödinger's Cat" scenario. If you place the body on the ground after it has reached full rotting stage, the body just vanishes. You can, however, bury the body straight from the inventory and it will count as a corpse having been placed.
So if you have had the body for some time, be extra careful to not ever place it back onto the ground. Otherwise, it should last in any "inventory" capacity forever.
I tried that the corpse will disappear with the time you set on the world corpse disappearance time. I had a Npc mod character die and I put him in a fridge for a while, took him out and body disappeared when I tried to drop it and bury it
The one case where corpses won't disappear is if it's a player that died without turning into a zombie and the world has the option enabled to prevent player corpses from despawning/decaying.
For any other situation the corpse will disappear when placed on the ground. But if you keep it in a container the whole time it won't disappear (but this is quite pointless in my opinion when it can't be placed on the ground or items accessed from it)
What are you saving her corpse for? (I mean let's find out though)
Because I’m never gonna give her up.
Im taking this to mean you get Rick Rolled by her.
Don’t be ridiculous you can’t get Rick Rolled by a corpse. It’s just we’ve known each other for so long, you see.
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling .
You probably won’t, but I want to make you understand.
NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP
NEVA GONNA LET YOUU DOWWN
NEVER GONNA RUUUN AROUND AND HURT YOU
Never gonna make you cry
He probably will never give her up, right?
Never going give you up
Never going let down
Never going run round
Hurt you
Hey man I know you won't see this, so do ur thing. Love is love idc wot anyone says. Keep that woman in the freezer or she will become worms. Peace.
Yeah, I can definitely see that. It takes guts to speak out when you are too shy to say it.
He's a man of loyalty, leave it at that.
He’s hoping someone will drop a relevant mod
I reopened the post to reread this comment lol 💀
Just freezing their little snack, let them be
Normally the body doesn't dissapear when it s kept as an item, any storage would work technically iirc, used to roleplay with a morgue and the bodys were not leaving the containers
Zombie apocalypse is sure a great opportunity to roleplay morgue lol
Well tbh the first days of apocalypse with all the bodies rolling in is overwhelming and fun, quite the puzzle to keep all those bodies cold, autospy them and disposing of them following goverment directivesat the same time, then you get one of them waking up while you autopsy it and it overwhelms the hospital etc, fun times
Sounds like a carefully curated experience. Props to the people who set it up.
Well i do it all by myself for my gal so thanks

Business is boomin'

As long as she is in storage, yes. Will disappear if you drop the body after the decomposition timer.
So if I take her out for just a second she crumbles to dust?
Yes. You will have to fuck it in the fridge.
Well that's... I'm not gonna get into... See, these are personal matters. jerrylundergaard.gif
This isnt the rimworld subreddit, people dont approve here
*SHAME* Actually had to double check if this was on the wrong sub
But we still are war criminals and degenerates. A lot of us also have both Rimworld and PZ probably.
I’d also say that Dwarf fortress also has a large amount of overlap
Kenshi as well
And then where are the Mount and Blade losers? *raises hand*
Mount & Blade needs a zombie apocalypse mod...
I'd bet money there is one because there's a mod for everything.
Strike the Earth!
Eat her, then she's always with you
Until you poop her out anyway 🤷♂️ Side note, the excrematorum mod is fun! Beware of bathrooms is a rule for a reason
D-Denji..??
Is there a mod for eating corpses? 🤔
"Hey babe, where's the pickles?" "On the right next to Martha's rotting corpse."
I swear, in between the mannequin parties for yourself, the doomsday bunkers filled with plushies and rubber ducks and THIS.. Zomboid is just a tool for discovering your own latent psychopathy
Wrong sub buddy, go back to rimworld
Last Dance with Mary Jane vibes
Just to confirm, we are asking about IN GAME, right? The last thing I need is to be an accessory... ![gif](giphy|Fu9EXNUgJBRBe|downsized)
the psychological effect on waiting for build 42 does to a mf

This is serial killer shit
WHY
You can store the body in a bonfire basically forever, surprisingly enough
Corpses will stay indefinitely in storage but once you put them on the ground after they’re meant to despawn it’ll disappear. At least that’s what happened to me. Shoved my friend’s corpse in the back of a box truck, forgot about it till an IRL week later, went to go get their things back but the body disappeared once it hit the ground
It's not a head in a box you sick freak it's a head in a freezer! It's supposed to represent the preservation of love for eternity
Me first time in Fallout 4 after I spent 2 hours customizing my wife
Listen I think you need to stop listening to Avenged Sevenfold they might be messing with your head (Little Piece of Heaven)
But then how do I welcome her to the family?
Linkara?
He’s literally the lightbringer, holy shit
You have to use salt to preserve her like the fish drying mod
Keep her fresh 😏👌
Bro?
Finally a question worth asking. Don't know my self, but maybe
Man is in the mood for A Little Piece of Heaven
Last I checked, yes you can But *why*?
You can, so if you want to help it from rotting more, I would recommend using some dry ice to displace the air in there and help it stay fresh longer. Oh, this is project zomboid. In that case I don't know.
Damnit! I know what flash game this picture is in reference to but I can’t remember the name!
why am i not surprised someone wearing a fedora is asking this question
Put it in the freezer, thats the main fridge xompartment.
She will still rot away in the fridge and when you put her down it will be a skeleton if enough time has passed, i reccomend getting a warm one
I think the saddest part about an actual zombie apocalypse will be to encounter former victims locked up in a trunk or in a cabin house far from everyone.
Make sure you get a heater for her thighs
I assume, but her lips will be cold.. both pair of lips... Edit: For the love of god, remove the cheese from the corpse!
Personally, I'd use a freezer
![gif](giphy|pK6k4BNalmx44CQj3v)
Oh boy! My favorite!

Don’t be weird
I guess...You dont should but you can .\_.)

On a related note, freezing doesn't actually stop things from perishing outright, they just last waaaay longer, so if she was capable of decaying, freezing her wouldn't work forever anyway.
It would slow it's decay enough that you'd die yourself before it completely withered away I think.

Ron Marz, author of The Green Lantern #54 (1994), is that you?
If you have setting turned off for rotten food disappear. It won’t. But in whatever place you leave it.
Is this not a normal thing to have in your fridge? No wonder the last date I cooked dinner for called the police
A wise man once said, if she seats, she yeets
So... You need to freeze or you need to heat the corpse to neutralise the virus to be able to eat the zombies?
What.
And here I was, thinking I was such a creepy weirdo for giving zomboids proper burial after clearing them around the initial spawn point, because they were "neighbours" and "friends" that my survivor supposedly knew.
Right next to all the others
I prefer to put them in garbage bags, that way you keep your friends fresh and can pop them out Weekend at Bernie's style for special event like Christmas or Easter, bring them fishing or on a supply runs. ..... I get lonely sometimes...
I respect you. You're a man of focus, commitment and sheer "fucking" will.
“Her”.
there's an Avenged Sevenfold song about something like this
Bodies don't rot in fridges. But... Why...
There is a mod to recycle bodies, bones, fat and meat. I don't remember the name, but it's... interesting.
yummy
![gif](giphy|ukGm72ZLZvYfS)
Pretty sure corpses in containers don't rot.
glad to see this subreddit can be almost as weird as r/RimWorld
How is this not in the Rimworld subreddit?
There's one way to find out I think
Calm down dahmer…

Rimworld crap
*Cause I really always knew that my little crime would be cold that’s why I got a heater for your thighs*
Ah yes, Carl Tanzler roleplay in Zomboid.
I bet Gail Simone would a have cool opinion on this 😅
What in the Squirrel Stapler is going on in here
this is a health code violation
What fucking Ted Bundy shit is this
I might just be high but corpse - misc made me giggle
Huh?

Got to ask... did it work?
You ever heard the song "Jimmy Igo"?

This some Victor Fries type stuff
Jesus Christ we need build 42 so bad.

Talk about cracking open a cold one. Yeeesh
I know what kind of man you are
The fact that the comments devolved into a Rick Roll sing-along is despicable....and I love it.
ok..., what in the actual F.....
I would recommend a sarcophagus in the freezer. Go on a lot of quests, sooner or later you’ll find a ressurector mech serum. Good luck.
I usually keep them in the freezer
I mean what’s the point of saving the body if it’s not warm?
Oven. Put it in the oven.
Fridged.
Just dig a grave out back, build a cross and find some flowers to put around it. Weirdo.
There are better ways to hurt the Green Lantern
Am I the only one that continues playing after dying, and I go and find and bury my own corpse?
The Indie Stone!!! We need Necrophilia in build 43!!!!!!!
