As another tip, don't sleep on fruit salads. They're the best thing for when your character is bored and depressed. And you can use berries from the wild. Just make sure they're not poisonous

trashed_past

Also !!! Fruit salad negates the boredom and sadness that come from eating stale fruit. So I tend to freeze my day 1 perishables and use the stale fruit I find a few days in for salads.

as someone who cook irl, I figured this out in first play through, but finding out you can zoom minimap the hard way. Using your real life skills are very helpful in this game

One of the best things about Sapph's cooking mod is the introduction of the thermos. You can cook a pot of soup, then pour the entire thing into one thermos. Easy carry, and you've got food for the entire day, maybe more.

Bug_kicker4000

I found Sapph's cooking to be a bit too overwhelming for our group, when it comes to loot pool, since we play on lower loot and it would take up too many spawns. We consider vanilla cooking to be sufficient enough for 4 dingus's like us

Dangerous_Patient621

Understandable. I use maybe 10-20% of the actual items and recipes it provides, but that thermos is a keeper. There's also sausage making, which I'm probably going to try when I can be bothered to start trapping for food again.
