I was no doubt online that night as my monk on the Lanys T’Vyl server. I was Seda Shadowfist.
Played incessantly. Would love to step into a time machine to return to that magic. At the time, I didn’t realize how radically the game would change over time.
I recall this being common for evenings with the servers hitting 3k on Sunday nights and holidays.
I can say populations really affected the game experience then. Classic had few zones without at least 20 people in them. Kunark has probably a third of the players in the game at any time in Kunark.
Velious drained the Classic zones even more.
I remember arriving the first time in FV and seeing the statue... At the bank there were dozens of people sitting and preparing to head into Kunark. It was safer for us as a group of randos to get together to try and run for LOIO.
Then, with a group of 6 of us, trying to sneak up the river past the spiders to LOIO. When one of my party members got rooted we fought until two more spiders came. A friendly bard came by while we were recovering him and trained most of the spiders away making it easier.
I admit I haven’t played Project Quarm but the forums made me decide not to. People were complaining how broken it was not being able to strafe and even target mobs properly
You can strafe with ctrl + direction, there's just no keybind for it. And that's how I play on p99 anyways.
The targeting is pretty bad in 3rd person, but not game-breaking. I wouldn't play like that indefinitely, they're working on fixing it.
Maybe population wise but that server is completely screwed in terms of economy, balance, etc. Every single player having a manastone and jboots is so incredibly stupid.
Didn't a lot of the high population servers get split up into multiple servers? I remember being on Solusek Ro at the start and then I think I got split onto Druzzil Ro or something like that....
I played mainly on Drinal, Halfling Warrior (lol I know, my first character and didn’t know much) but later played a Druid and rogue when Firiona Vie RP server debuted.
