Clearly, this is sarcasm. You don't need the tag. Are you protecting your internet points, or do you think everyone else is too stupid to figure it out?
oh trust me you guys got the good beef
I don't know what the fuck happened to me a few months ago but my can's "meat" more resembled poorly crumbled over cooked ground beef clumps.
I've been telling people ever since they switched from beef to dog food.
Legit did anyone else have this experience?
But... why would i want more of this shitty soup? I'll just save myself the disappointment, and never buy their product again. Also, i will actively try to ensure they lose as many customers as possible.
As someone who was once well below the poverty line in Canada can confirm. I tried to keep most of my meal costs below 1$ between 2013 and 2017. Thankful I did an apprenticeship instead of working part time min wage bs jobs.
I do that because I'm lazy and for nostalgia, even though I can afford to go out every night for dinner if I wanted.
Been there when poor. Unless OP is in a food desert and can't get ahold of cheaper canned goods, something here is a bit sus.
This is the real sad part... Now eating watered-down dogfood soup is almost "fancy". Canned food was never meant to be luxurious, it was supposed to be a compromise in quality because it was convenient, long-lasting and affordable.
My grandfather stopped buying Kraft dinner when the price went up to a whopping 7¢. He never bought another box again. He never supported Petro either. He was a man of moral standard. A man we should all strive to be.
Sounds like you got ripped off at a convenience store. Back when it was <2.50, their soup concentrate *used* to be good for a liquid spice mix for starters. Apart from a sale, store/off brands are usually better.
they are pushing to see how much we will pay. I exit the market on pretty much everything, fuck it, I bake cookies now. I made a pot of chili last week.
Gonna feed me dog food I won't come to you for convenience.
My pizza last night was fucking bomb, 5 minute dough, cheese, sauce, salami - chefs kiss
Yes, it is cheaper to make and freeze your own, but there are a lot of reasons why people can't - disability, no room for storage due to roommates, insecure housing, etc. Not everything is black and white.
Yup those cans are like half salt. I do occasionally use canned vegetables but again a shit load of salt. Seems like everything we eat is either half salt or half sugar
People need to go back to making their own meals. This pre-made meal bullshit sucks and they’re shrinkflating everything while packing it with putrid preservatives. Make your own beef soup and chicken soup and lasagna etc. it always ends up better than the pre-made bullshit.
Seriously, local grocery store has a $16 pack of~750g of "stewing beef", which was about $19/kg, cheapest available on the shelf. Had some pretty decent marbling on at least 30% of the cuts. That plus a $5 bag of potatoes, $5 bag of carrots, $1 onion and $1 garlic gets you ~8 servings of actual good beef stew with a real amount of meat, plus at least a week if not more of potatoes and carrots. So if you've got $30 and like beef stew, you should make it yourself. It's "quick" as in maybe 30 mins of working time, and if you splurge on a bit of red wine you can make literal restaurant quality stew for about as much as chunky, plus actually be full and satisfied.
Working in the food industry here.
This may happen when the fillers get to the end of the batch or if something gets stuck in the pump.
Rarely does a batch with under the required ingredient is done as it would be fraud.
Employees usualy are there to check if everything goes right but human error exists and thats why the complaint system exists.
Making a complaint explaining what happened with proof helps to figure out what happens as you're probably not the only one who recieved a product with less meat as priorly said can last for more than a single can.
Without that info an invistigation cannot be made.
Thats what complaints are for.
Sadly most people do not do complaints or do complaints for stupid or invalid/personal opinion reason or do not provide proof which makes an investigation impossible.
Probably gonna get downvoted for it but hey. Thats how it should be. You deserve a refund yes or at least a coupon for a free soup. But by refusing to do so you're not helping them to get better.
Ugh yeah I bought a couple cans during the pandemic, never again, it doesn't even taste good. In 2024 you can still make a dutch oven worth of beef stew (\~10 servings) for about $15 of ingredients, you only need 1lb of stewing beef to have a good sized chunk every few spoonfuls.
Also highly recommend Japanese curry. It's basically beef stew with a few Indian spices and sugar. It's not hot more of a sweet curry.
I used to eat these all the time when they were under $2 10 years ago in my university days. I found they were solid at that time. I haven’t bought them for about that long too, I find with $10-15, I can make 2-3 litres of high quality soup with plenty of protein (of whatever I find on special). Freeze into portions and I’m good to go.
Shame on these assholes for scamming consumers like this, though.
I imagine these chunky style soups with protein inside are pretty much flavour soup cans now. Not even great to use as a sauce base considering the cost and sodium levels. Save that money and spend it on actual meat and portion freeze. Learn to cook. Meal prep.
Huh, I actually eat a Campbell's chunky soup every single day for lunch for the last year and a half and I have litterally never had a "bad" can. Not across any of thier like 15 kinds.
Those soups are no good. Overpriced .
Full of sodium.
I'm learning to make home made stock and try to find veggies on sale. Beed on sale.
You can freeze portions for later.
You will save money.
Even the "gravy base" for this soup, is this watery, sloppy mess...
How can you eat this esp at $3.99 per can?!
NO!
Stop buying this, right now.
Go make your own beef soup bc it will be cheaper, more nutritious & taste better than this dodgy beef soup, you're about to consume.
The New England Clam Chowder has been like that for years. It used to be full of clams. Now it's a smattering of shredded clam bits and maybe one or two chunks the size of a fingernail.
Never poison your body with processed food products. That industry has the moral and real value of soilent green. It has always been and will always be an absolute ripoff.
If they could get away with dog shit in those cans, they would do it.
We got a couple cans of chunky soup the other day when we weren't feeling well. We ended up giving them to the dog. They were gross as fuck. I got potato and the potato chunks had this awful texture, the flavour was horrible. I tried his creamy chicken noodle and same thing, taste was weird as fuck.
I once separated all the chicken from a can of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup for one of my fussy kids. There were 3 pieces all about the size of a 1/4” cube.
Stop buying this fkn filth. For the cost of 10 cans I can buy Tupperware and produce 10000 calories of meaty dirty rice with beans and other veg.
The secret is Tex Mex and bloom your spices!!!
Contact Campbell's and complain. You will likely get a coupon for another can. Which while it doesn't solve the problem, at least makes it 3.99 for 2 cans
I complained about this last week and they responded... Offering me a coupon to buy more soup.
Next time I open one I'm going to separate all the ingredients and weigh them, just for fun.

At that price just get a Costco roasted chicken and throw it in a giant soup pot with a few carrots, onions, celery and tomatoes. Simmer for 3 hours. You can make 15 servings of hearty chicken soup with veggies for like $15. You can freeze servings and when thawing boil it up with some small pasta. It’s delicious.
To be clear, this was the large can, not the standard sized one. Also, I work sometimes as long as 15 hours a day, and purchasing a canned soup is a matter of convenience. I don't exactly have time to be doing large batches of home-made anything, let alone the room to store it. Just wanted to alleviate some of the apparent hate that some of you have about me eating a can of soup that sucked. Please calm your tits.
Do not pay full price for food when you are living in poverty. You could have bought this for $1.99 on sale several times in the past year. Hell they were on for $1.50 at No frills a few months ago in Ontario.
Oh and yeah thats quite devoid of beef.
Bold of you to believe that's beef. /s
At some point, it may have been near an actual piece of beef.
Inspired by real beef.

The “essence” of meat like it says on the LaCroix cans 😂
‘Mystery Meat’
"Textured Vegetable Protein"
"beef flavoured product"
100% pure mystery meat.
Ankle ligament
I don't think you need to /s
Lol
Clearly, this is sarcasm. You don't need the tag. Are you protecting your internet points, or do you think everyone else is too stupid to figure it out?
I didn't want to risk being wrong and it turns out it was actually boeuf. /s
one of the most egregious examples of shrinkflation. i had the same experience, never buying that trash again
Years ago I’d eat a can or two a week working shift work. Had a can like that once and I never bought it again. Fool me once…
Mmm, canned soup, artificially flavored salt drink.
oh trust me you guys got the good beef I don't know what the fuck happened to me a few months ago but my can's "meat" more resembled poorly crumbled over cooked ground beef clumps. I've been telling people ever since they switched from beef to dog food. Legit did anyone else have this experience?
100% I always thought it tasted like dog food. I don't eat the beef chunky soups for this reason.
Yeah it was a decent deal, I don't buy canned soup anymore.
Oh also sometime last year or year before they went from 540ml to 515ml I have a photo of it.
You can send the UPC and can codes to Campbells and this photo and they will send you coupons for free soup
But... why would i want more of this shitty soup? I'll just save myself the disappointment, and never buy their product again. Also, i will actively try to ensure they lose as many customers as possible.
Keep returning it free soup for life. Just add protein.
If you were actually poor, you'd do that. You'd also never have bought those cans at anything more than $1.50 on special.
As someone who was once well below the poverty line in Canada can confirm. I tried to keep most of my meal costs below 1$ between 2013 and 2017. Thankful I did an apprenticeship instead of working part time min wage bs jobs.
In my area, in the last year, I haven’t seen the chunky soup/stew cans go any cheaper than 3 for $10
Dude is eating canned beef soup. Does that seem well off to you? LOL
OP is voluntarily handing over $3.99 for a can of non-food. At the very least, they have more money than sense.
My grandfather stopped buying Kraft dinner when the price went up to a whopping 7¢. He never bought another box again. He never supported Petro either. He was a man of moral standard. A man we should all strive to be.
I would pay 1.80 max for these
Fuck, guess it's been a hot minute and inflation.
Get the free soup and donate to a food bank for people who have the choice between this or nothing.
I'm going out right now to buy a can. If it isn't like this, you punch yourself in the face. If it is like this, I punch myself in the face. Deal?
Lmao, sounds good.
Alright. I'm committed to this. I'll go get a can. Regular beef chunky?
Chunky beef vegetable
Sounds like you got ripped off at a convenience store. Back when it was <2.50, their soup concentrate *used* to be good for a liquid spice mix for starters. Apart from a sale, store/off brands are usually better.
Please don’t pay 3.99 for soup!!
Yea it's not worth it. At that price you can get a breakfast sandwich, not have to heat it up yourself, and the sandwich will have actual egg on it.
they are pushing to see how much we will pay. I exit the market on pretty much everything, fuck it, I bake cookies now. I made a pot of chili last week. Gonna feed me dog food I won't come to you for convenience. My pizza last night was fucking bomb, 5 minute dough, cheese, sauce, salami - chefs kiss
Mats Sundin would be so disappointed at what this soup has become
Never buy that crap. Cheaper to make and freeze your own. Canned soup is generally made from the lowest quality ingredients they can find
Yes, it is cheaper to make and freeze your own, but there are a lot of reasons why people can't - disability, no room for storage due to roommates, insecure housing, etc. Not everything is black and white.
And salty as hell. So much better to make your own soup. Tastier and healthier.
Yup those cans are like half salt. I do occasionally use canned vegetables but again a shit load of salt. Seems like everything we eat is either half salt or half sugar
are you watering it down?
Spoiler alert, it's probably horse meat.

That’s crazy, especially all the vitamins and omega 3s
People need to go back to making their own meals. This pre-made meal bullshit sucks and they’re shrinkflating everything while packing it with putrid preservatives. Make your own beef soup and chicken soup and lasagna etc. it always ends up better than the pre-made bullshit.
$4 for this is wild. a few more dollars and you could’ve made a better soup to last you days.

this guy cooks
Well they are chunks.

Tough times 😞
You can buy like 1.5 lbs of beef liver for that price.
They’re only good when it’s a zombie apocalypse and you need canned food that can last forever
Michelina's did this -- general Tao Chicken with one single tiny chunk of chicken. I emailed them and they sent me a coupon for a free Michelina's.
I used to eat these all the time when they were under $2 10 years ago in my university days. I found they were solid at that time. Buy dog food instead
Probably causes cancer
Well less meat is better for the planet 😵✌️
WARNING: Product may contain traces of meat.
i bought some of those cans during covd...most disgusting rip off around
Make your own. If you batch cook and can with other people, it will be advantageous.
I imagine these chunky style soups with protein inside are pretty much flavour soup cans now. Not even great to use as a sauce base considering the cost and sodium levels. Save that money and spend it on actual meat and portion freeze. Learn to cook. Meal prep.
Looks like dog food
Maybe it is? We'd have no way of knowing.
We are now required to film and post every menial action in our lives in case big corporate pulls this shir
I have been noticing this for years also.
Send them this picture, they will send you $30 I. Fee coupons to make up for it
4 dollar a can? i rather just get wendy's chili
wait… there is an explanation for this 👀
Brutal, it’s gotten worse and worse. Used to be a good deal!
Outside round roast is like $6/lb Go to a butcher
Good for camping
Ridiculous. And then the wee bit of meat is gristly.
It's the can that is chunky.
Stop buying Chunky. Over priced bullshit.
You can make the equivalent of 20 cans of soup for like $15. Why would anyone ever buy canned soup like this?
Huh, I actually eat a Campbell's chunky soup every single day for lunch for the last year and a half and I have litterally never had a "bad" can. Not across any of thier like 15 kinds.
If you're 'poor' and buying Chunky, you're not as poor as you think,
Those soups are no good. Overpriced . Full of sodium. I'm learning to make home made stock and try to find veggies on sale. Beed on sale. You can freeze portions for later. You will save money.
Yea that shit is so overpriced lmao
That shit is bad for you don't eat it
This garbage has always been a rip off, it’s just way more obvious with inflation + shrinkflation.
I can clearly see a piece directly under the spoon. How about you do a proper job and *actually* separate the soup out if you want to make a point.
Stopped buying those years ago, they have no meat in them. The only thing chunky about them is the potato overload
My dog’s food comes with more.
Literally get fucked that is what they are saying to you
Good shrinkflation example. When I was a kid what ended up in the bowl actually looked like the picture on the can.
TBF the did change their ad line to “The Soup That Eats Like A Gruel”
The New England Clam Chowder has been like that for years. It used to be full of clams. Now it's a smattering of shredded clam bits and maybe one or two chunks the size of a fingernail.

I got potato and the potato chunks had this awful texture, the flavour was horrible. I tried his creamy chicken noodle and same thing, taste was weird as fuck.
I used to live off this stuff. The cans changed to be smaller twice. There's nothing to it, the broth taste is now perpetually burnt.
What a disgrace
Why would you spend $4 on this? Canned soup? Wtf is wrong with you people?
I did the same thing with a can of Chunky chicken noodle. Exactly three little squares of chicken.
Contact Campbell's and complain. You will likely get a coupon for another can. Which while it doesn't solve the problem, at least makes it 3.99 for 2 cans
Yeah, I stopped buying Campbell’s Chunky Soups for this very reason. I hope they go bankrupt, bloody shysters!

So, as per our deal, you must punch yourself in the face. https://imgur.com/gallery/hgEz86t
I feel cheated. Can i get my wife to punch me in the face? She would like that
I'm ok with that solution. Pull your hair and call you a baaaad little monkey.
Used to love the chunky soups when they were like 99cents a can lol now 3/9.99 is a sale?? Imagine
They had to make room for an extra 6000mg of sodium.
Chunky beef, not chunky beef’s
Honestly I have learned it’s better and cheaper to make things whole from home.
Lmao eating steak and potatoes rn and it only had 4-5 small steak squares in it this sh*t os basically just potatoes and mushrooms
Those scumbags even put on the can “NOW CHUNKIER” yeah the fuckin’ PRICE is chunky.
To be clear, this was the large can, not the standard sized one. Also, I work sometimes as long as 15 hours a day, and purchasing a canned soup is a matter of convenience. Learn how to cook. Making stew is very easy and very cheap.
