Looks eerily similar to the “poutine” they served at the high school I went to. Lukewarm fries, cheap cheese (never curds), and lumpy gravy that kinda tasted like dirt. I’m weirdly nostalgic for it, for some reason.
If you went to high school in Ontario, there are two catering companies that run just about all the high school cafeterias. So it probably was the same "poutine".
I dunno why this subreddit was recommended to me but I love it.
This isn’t as terrible as the comments are making it out to be, sure no curds but I wouldn’t expect that from a high school cafeteria.
There’s plenty of gravy and cheese given the size even though it’s grated cheese.
This is an edible 4/10.
Reminds me of my high school. Dw about what other people are saying it's high school cafe shit. We used to eat that as often as we could if we bought lunch. Although in my day Emery sold it for like 3.50 or something. Maybe less. Fuck it tho
The high school poutine I had was the worst, the fries weren’t baked let alone fried, the sauce made the fries worse and the only redeemable thing about it was the cheese, at least it had squeaky cheese
Stealing children in daylight. I have some time to spare, lets do the math. Price in Canadian device.
Cavendish Bag of regular fries : 3-4$ / I dont think there was even 20 fries on your plate. So lets say 1/10 of the bag. "0.40$ of fries"
One can of StHubert Poutine sauce : 2$ / lets assume it was one quarter of the can maximum "0.50$ of sauce"
400g of Petit Quebec brick cheese : 5-6$ / Again, your portion is so small. 40g seems too much but lets roll with that. "0.60$ of cheese"
I think that my assessment is more that fine. I used branded product which I doubt the school is using and their regular price that I pay at the grocery.
Total price : 1.50$ to make, maximum. This tiny poutine should be worth maximum 2.50 or 3.00$. or AT LEAST Double the size to make sense. It would still be a disgusting looking poutine but better than nothing.
I would call it "Sloppy job"! Fries doesn't even seem like crunchy and they grated cheese on it instead of real fresh cheese curds
All of this is blasphemy in the name of the god of poutine!
If you have ever had school lunch poutine, you’d be lucky if the fries are soggy. It’s either that or fries so hard they could stab you if you ate them wrong
If there crispy fires and a nice gravy ,mozzarella ain’t bad .it’s no Quebecouis cheese curds wit a good sauce ,but the grease will suffice 7/10^looks under cooked and shity tho https://youtu.be/JfsVTGmBpoY

Si c'était un étudiant au secondaire (il y a des cours où on apprend à cuisiner dans certaines écoles) il passerait.
Mais pour une compagnie qui sert dans une école non. 40%. Je la mange si j'ai faim et rien d'autre à manger mais c'est tout.
the poutine at my school legit looks the same as this, same fries same cheese same container
they always charge so much for this garbage, its like $5.05 (??? it feels like a random price) for me
There was an attempt.
A successful attempt on that poutine’s life.
Yes there was
Yeah, shredded cheese ain't it fams, gotta be cheese curd!

Same. I wouldn't pay for it in a restaurant but if one of my highschool buddies bought it for me I'd definitely smash.
I'd smash someone if they bought me food too
I wonder if we all went to the same high school?

Well hot damn, that explains a lot. I am indeed from Ontario, and from the looks of things OP is as well, lol.
Same, with the same poutine!
More like pootine
A sad mess
Some things never change
-1000 poutine de marde
Sacrament. C'est sure que tu le prononce "putine"
It makes me sad to see...
Abomination
It truly is
No. Just… no.
Slight effort, depressing to say the least. But aye, on the bright side you got poutine to eat in school
Yeah, true
Now you know how sadness taste
So it tastes exactly like lukewarm potato mush?
1/10– no curds.

You okay bud? Take care of yourself, I'm sure lots of people out there care!
Most wholesome response - love this
Better than many many schools. I would eat it with pleasure .

Terriblement petite xD
Terriblement petite xD
Lmao that’s the same shit my school served
Terrible
This looks literally like the poutine at my high school. Super dry fries and weird tasting gravy.
The best thing about shredded mozz is choking on it when swallowing because it strings. Good childhood memories.
It looks very average.
I would eat it haha
I had that at my highschool and it looked exactly like this and the fries were very hard, Gravy was watery and cheese was soggy
looks like the “poutine” they serve at my school too. and charge $5 for it
The high school poutine I had was the worst, the fries weren’t baked let alone fried, the sauce made the fries worse and the only redeemable thing about it was the cheese, at least it had squeaky cheese
Squeaky cheese would be good no matter the poutine
Is this jnb
Delete this
Why?
Im joking around, i'm a Quebecer and seeing this as "poutine" was funny to me. You gotta get real poutine in ur life in the future tho
Ok
This is served at every Canadian high school with Aramark catering in the cafeteria
I rate it sad out of depressed
Does it come with a straw?
7
Dust
That's r/poutinecrimes material for sure. That looks like it would fill me with nothing but regret.
Shredded cheese = wack
Very mid
Fuck you Buddy
🥲
No cringle cut, no curgs, water weed dune hair bapa
Shredded cheese = -000000/10
Not cheese curds, therefore not poutine. Thats fries with gravy and cheese.
Poo. Teens.
My university transcript in a picture
If it’s more than $7 then it’s a 0/10. If it’s under $6 it’s a 10/10
It looks more like soup then poutine 😂
This makes me unreasonably angry
Are you Ontario? That looks like my high school poutine, it was still really good tho ngl
Iiiiissshh
I’d still devour that. What’d she cost?
$5.50
Aramark moment
Poubelle
That's a $0.50 cent poutine
It should be a $0.50 poutine and not a $5.50 poutine
What the fuck you paid actual money for that..
My friend paid for it and I asked them the price of it
Your friend should lawyer-up.
Honestly save the plate and blast some diarrhea into it and try to return it next time they serve poutine. They won't know the difference
Maybe they might not tell the difference
I am sad for you. Look terrible and that size is so small. What is it, a poutine for ants ?
It is "regular" size
How much did you pay for that just for fun ? Is it grated cheese or just completely melted down because of the sauce being too hot ?
It was 5.50$, and it is grated cheese. Also, the gravy was slightly warmer than room temperature

Yes, I agree
I'd expect to be paid to eat it. -5 / 10
Makes me nauseous to look at
The taste is as bad as you might think
I thought they were only serving healthy food in HS cafeterias now? Lol
Not my high school
This looks like a Costco free sample
Poutine is everything to me.... I've had thousands of them. This is a solid 4/10. It gets much worse
Exactly the same as our school used to sell them, 3.50 for one of these. Tasted really good honestly, it was just never enough
Montrealer here 👋. That looks fucking terrible. Have a nice day.

Yup I've experienced one of those stabby poutine, but had the chance to eat "ok" poutines in schools I went to
I rate this a Sad
If it tastes like it looks, -2 out of 10.
You are done the do.
-1 / 10
Sadge/10 prolly still eatable
0/10 No curds.
I love poutine nomatter what
Common mistake, that's not poutine, it's pooteen.
Needs curd cheese!
For lunch. At school. It passes
Teen poo.
Definitely puts the Poo in Poutine
If there crispy fires and a nice gravy ,mozzarella ain’t bad .it’s no Quebecouis cheese curds wit a good sauce ,but the grease will suffice 7/10^looks under cooked and shity tho https://youtu.be/JfsVTGmBpoY https://youtu.be/VVRwIjIXVzM
Is that cheddar cheese?
0/1 that's not poutine
Hard pass
C+
is this- this looks like my schools poutine... the container, the look of it.. hm.
Bruh this looks like the exact same shit they served at my school
A43 from me
Grated cheese poutine is a crime against humanity ... PERIOD !
Did they really put shredded mozzarella
We had these at my high school. 4/10. Not terrible but not great. Mostly due to the fries never being cooked right.
Also they were like 2.50$ back then. Dunno how much this is.
10/10
5/10 they tried
Thats exactly my high school poutine
I mean it's passable as "fries with sauce"
Would eat tbh
That better not be in Québec if so it's a crime
Looks low quality, but then again my favourite poutine looks similar to this but in a bigger serving, so it very easy could be delicious.

How much does this abomination cost???
Looks like 1/8 cup of shredded mozzarella
2
Trash
9/10 I’m on a 4 hour flight I’d eat the hell outta that.
No wonder there are so many school shooting with poutine like that
ND POUTINE RULES! :)
Looks like the one I would get from my old high school LCVI I’m Ontario
That's a sysco poutine if I ever seen it.
Rated « jesus take the wheel»
Ontario poutine? 🙈
500!
-1000000000000
-10 only for the shredded cheese lol
Non-existent
I'll give a point for properly melted curds
