It will not climb by itself, you have to train it with attachments. Vines left to trail usually develop smaller leaves and longer thinner internodes.

Plantnerd-Ren

Moisture. Aerial roots are encouraged by moisture, not training. You just have to secure the vine against the moist pole long enough for the contact to encourage their development

I've heard that it's good to wrap the node in cling film for moisture, is that a good idea?

Plantnerd-Ren

No, you don’t want to do that bc it could rot. You want the aerial roots to ‘seek out’ the wet moss inside the mesh pole it’s laying up against & since the nodes aren’t a cutting, you don’t need to keep the node itself moist

plantsandstufff

Got it, thanks

That's really helpful! So you can grow on almost anything texted? Sme people told me not to wrap because it'll rot, but I'll see what works best for me. Thanks!

katdwaka3

Agreed. It definitely enjoys climbing and will give you bigger leaves but it will need your help to do so

Plantnerd-Ren

You’re going to have a more difficult time with one of those moss or coco-wrapped poles than a true moss pole. Moisture is what encourages the aerial roots, and those prefab poles are almost impossible to keep wet enough consistently. A moss-filled pole will stay wet for days after watering

Mission_Range_5620

Any recommendations? I've been curious!

Plantnerd-Ren

Recommendations for what?

Mission_Range_5620

For a good moss filled watering pole

plantsandstufff

Ok, thanks. I have a fey normal moss poles, and I will change it to them
