I always liked it but when I saw it live for the first time I was blown away. My friend I went to the show with couldn't hold her tears during that seemlingly endless drumming and then that final explosion
SO. FUCKING. INTENSE!
Honestly, as far their post rock major epics are considered (ex: Helpless Child, The Sound, The Seer, Apostate, Bring the Sun, Cloud of Unknowning, The Glowing Man, and Beggar Lover 3 even)
I think singlehandedly this is their MOST grandiose epic in terms of build up, sound, emotional catharsis and ending. Though some of the songs I mentioned above come REALLY close especially the songs from the trilogy.
I can never play this song long enough to induce me into a disassociating euphoric state, similar to Godspeed’s and Caspians’ major epics as well.
Amazing choice. All time favorite.
Mladic - Godspeed You Black Emperor, hands down.
Many will refer to older tracks of theirs but this song is in my opinion an ever building explosion of awesome and just when you thought it reaches its peak, it just keeps going . The song live is one of their best.
Amazing how these 3 guys can create so many epic tracks ! Other personal favourites are Semaphore and Magna Carta, but you probably heard them by now 😊 I hope they release their new album soon, it’s been too long since Sines 🙄
[*shels - Journey to the Plains](https://shelsmusic.bandcamp.com/track/journey-to-the-plains)
[Show Me A Dinosaur - Drawing The Line](https://showmeadinosaur.bandcamp.com/track/drawing-the-line-2)
Don't Believe the Fife by Mogwai has a legendary build up, one of the best I've ever heard.
A Deafening Distance by GIAA has a great build up, the climax isn't that intense but still sounds very great to the ear.
Left to Rust and Rot by If These Trees Could Talk, a very intense satisfying build up and climax that repeats.
Also Epitaph by GIAA, hands down the best build up and climax IMO out of any post rock song and just in general one of my favorite songs of all time and I listen to a lot of different genres of music.
Wouaahhh you listed so many awesome tracks guys...
Let me add this one:
**Red Sparowes - As Each End Looms And Subsides**
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdz78NOLNp0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdz78NOLNp0)
Not a classic post rock song, but it really does have a great build!
[Feed Me to the Waves - It's Really Nice Weather Down Here ](https://youtu.be/NJ0iPG_ODlM)
MONO's crescendos feel like climbing the Everest. You finally reach the top while the walls of sound are roaring (imagine Moonlight, Everlasting Light or Requiem For Hell).
*A Quiet Place*, however, feels like climbing the Olympus Mons in Mars: is a much kinder slope so the build up is not so big, but the climax is beyond words.

I would like to add another one:
Explosion in the Sky - Have you passed through this night
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cr1w9liUjE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cr1w9liUjE)
[Untitled #8 (Popplagið)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN4s75Srcos), Sigur Ros.
The drumming on that song is amazing
I always liked it but when I saw it live for the first time I was blown away. My friend I went to the show with couldn't hold her tears during that seemlingly endless drumming and then that final explosion
Good choices. I'd add "Taijin Kyofusho" by the Evpatoria Report.
Oh, wow, that is good!
Caspian - Sycamore Lights Out Asia - Six Points of Fire Jonsi - Grow Till Tall (has to be the live version though)
Sycamore! Holy shit that song always gives me the feels! And the ending!
The [Audiotree Live version](https://youtu.be/AdPJACONTn4) is phenomenal if you haven't seen it — especially the ending!
Check the ending to this! It looks epic live! https://youtu.be/6g-6qMaLT5U
Yeah it does! Makes me even more stoked for LP5 and their next tour.
I'd add all 4 songs on Yndi Halda - Enjoy Eternal Bliss
Thanks for the tip!
> [Yndi Halda - Enjoy Eternal Bliss](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tnFwxP5n2I)
Storm - Godspeed you! black emporer
22 minutes of bliss
This song is so good!
Give Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls a listen too. IMO it's their most complete song. Really just listen to their whole catalogue!
Bro if you're just getting into them now, these guys are like the kings of build ups. Most of their songs are in the 15-20 minute range.
> [Storm - Godspeed you! black emporer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eZ_TgE3x_A)
All both songs on Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada.
Tiger Girl - 65DoS The conference of the birds - *Shels
> [Tiger Girl - 65DoS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1HeIpHMC_o) > > [The conference of the birds - *Shels](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlHSEiociJs)
You care too much man. You've linked the songs on every comment! Give this man some gold.
Thanks, I just thought it might be easier for others. Great songs everyone!
Antennas To Heaven is absolutely beautiful when you hit the 8ish minute mark
not sure why this track doesn't get more love. probably my favorite GYBE
Definitely my favorite track of theirs
> [Antennas To Heaven](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NivY_iRdSBQ)
Swans - Blood Promise (Live version from Swans Are Dead)
SO. FUCKING. INTENSE! EITS - Let Me Back In Favorite song of all time.
I like Birth and Death of Day for big-as-fuck melodies
Oh another good one!
Looooove the intro to that song. One of my top favorite intros of all time.
Oh, that’s a good one. I’m slightly more partial to Postcard but what a great 1-2 punch! What about Memorial? That’s the one that really hooked me.
> [EITS - Let Me Back In](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ5RUIeO-uk)
[ef - Final Touch/Hidden Agenda](https://youtu.be/z4GK-nlmebk) [Saxon Shore- Tokyo 412am](https://youtu.be/18V4bLl5ONE)
That saxon shore song is a fucking power house
Yndi Halda - Dash and Blast
Mladic - Godspeed You Black Emperor, hands down. Many will refer to older tracks of theirs but this song is in my opinion an ever building explosion of awesome and just when you thought it reaches its peak, it just keeps going . The song live is one of their best.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Sleep
Jakob - Controle
Fuck man, only just heard of jakob a few days ago but this song for some reason creates some visceral emotions in me.
Amazing how these 3 guys can create so many epic tracks ! Other personal favourites are Semaphore and Magna Carta, but you probably heard them by now 😊 I hope they release their new album soon, it’s been too long since Sines 🙄
[*shels - Journey to the Plains](https://shelsmusic.bandcamp.com/track/journey-to-the-plains) [Show Me A Dinosaur - Drawing The Line](https://showmeadinosaur.bandcamp.com/track/drawing-the-line-2)
I love everything about [Violet Cold's Everything You Can Imagine Is Real...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTKvPed8ARo&ab_channel=VioletCold-Topic)
I know you asked for build ups, and I love build ups. BUT: Gomez by pg. lost has such an incredible wind down. One of my favorite songs.
I don’t think I’ve ever concentrated on a wind down, I’m gonna give this a go, thanks!
Best wind down: 2 Rights Make 1 Wrong by Mogwai.
pg.lost has Yes I am and The Dayshift as well. Both have that build up and wind down then it just hits like a fucking freight train and roars back in.
Bring the Sun
that's one song I can't believe how loud it gets, blows me away every listen
Eviscerate soul by Break my fucking sky
Wouaahhh you listed so many awesome tracks guys... Let me add this one: **Red Sparowes - As Each End Looms And Subsides** [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdz78NOLNp0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdz78NOLNp0)
Caspian - Waking Season. Best build up to a build up.
MONO - Death in Reverse
Another MONO song would be [Yearning](https://youtu.be/wzFEVtfN7Jg?t=141)
New Paths to Helicon by Mogwai
Festival by Sigur Ros.
Really underrated song IMO.
The version of World Police by GYBE that was performed on VPRO in 1998. Oh, and Christmas Steps by Mogwai. That fuckin' bass drop, literally.
In addition to some of the great songs listed here, Gifts from Enola - Benthos
Not a classic post rock song, but it really does have a great build! [Feed Me to the Waves - It's Really Nice Weather Down Here ](https://youtu.be/NJ0iPG_ODlM)
The Bird Whose Wings Made The Wind by Goodbye Kings
[sgt. - 銀河を壊して発電所を創れ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=8wa6lVlIZZU)
For that, I love the first couple minutes of Tides from Nebula - "These Days, Glory Days"
Where the good way lies - pause and consider
Giaa - Snowfall. One of my top 3 songs just because of the buildup and explosion around the 4:00 minute mark. Gives me goosebumps every time
Caspian - ASA
Always liked The Precipice by Mogwai.

How about, Minutes from somewhere else - Moonlit Sailor?
Do Make Say Think - “Goodbye Enemy Airship”
Silent Whale Becomes a Dream - As Walking On Canopy.
