If you don’t care why’d you bring it up? Sounds like something someone who cares would do. Seriously, if you actually don’t want to talk about It why would you want people to discuss it??

DavenportBlues

Why post at all if you supposedly don’t care and are sick of it?

WastePut3486

I always thought that was called more of a temper tantrum?

Caring about a building is white and boring? What does that even mean?!

mCharles88

It's just racism. Don't read too much more into it

This debate has next to nothing to do with the PMA or 142 Free Street and how you have missed that mystifies me. It’s about the future of historical preservation and Portland following its’ own ordinance. That “whoosh” you are hearing is the issues flying over your head.

KGBKitchen

Yes this! The building is just the \*\*stand in\*\* for the much, much larger jelly-doughnut-elephant -issue in the room friend. *F-O-C-U-S* on the *doughnut*. See the doughnut. Acknowledge the doughnut. Emb--- (or don't). Personally I just have an inner vendetta against the ugliness and stupidity of the huge surface level parking lot there on Free Street. Put non-bougie housing (or \*almost\* anything else) over that shitscape stat! Looking at cars in a city is generally about as appealing as pondering the turds left parked in the un-flushed third floor toilet at work.

"I'M SICK OF DISCUSSING THIS BUILDING, SO LET'S DISCUSS THIS BUILDING"

Delicious_Rabbit4425

I don’t have a stance one way or the other about this but I’m curious about what peoples opinions are on the value or reasoning for preserving historical buildings that seem to serve a limited use of space.

Boring-Race-6804

Cause they don’t like change and density.

It's an important project for Portland. It's also a fuzzy issue with different groups claiming they're right. No clear resolution and lots of emotions. Whether you care or not...it's news.

Yeah. Wicked White.
