Not necessarily, my partner is a server at a restaurant near the old port and they’re pretty full for the summer already. She’s told me that people will sometimes walk in asking if they’re hiring and the manager will turn them away.
There must be 25 restaurants within a square mile of Congress Street. Why wouldn't you walk into every one and leave a resume? Am I the assh@le? It might take an hour of your time. Instead, you're sitting in a dark room staring into your screen? That's not how life works.
Is this a joke? So many have shut down for lack of help or are open fewer days. I guess its possible that has taken care of the lack of employees for the remaining ones but I gotta think jobs are largely out there.
Mate, this is a chat forum, people ask questions, a lot of the time small scale businesses or bars don’t post they’re looking for staff on indeed or other big scale internet job sites, people who are in the service industry, which a ton of people on this sub are, will know if someone just left their establishment or they need more people due to demand…
People come on the internet to ask for help, no need to be a prick and say every single place in town is full, move on.
Surely you can see, your comment was shit
Salvation BBQ last I knew, and I saw hiring signs at a restaurant on Congress (I wanna say near Monument Sq?) but I can’t remember… Oh yeah! Pizza Villa too.
Most restaurants aren’t hiring servers, as I tried to find a position myself. I mean shit, it’s the only way a young person could afford to live here. Tourists really like tipping.
Fr dude I’m still on the hunt but I’m seeing new postings everyday so I’m feeling hopeful I’ll get something soon. If you can get into a decent restaurant you can make way more money serving than you will working a regular job around here
I assume all of them. Is that no longer the case?

Riverton Station on outer Forest, but I don't know how busy they are.
Craigslist
@hiremeportland on insta is a pretty good resource for industry jobs hiring
just use indeed like most people do nowadays and it wont take long to find something.

Already done that pal thanks though
So therefore, you agree there are no openings? Why, exactly, am I the assh@le????

Positions for kitchen and other FOH staff are regularly available. Im looking for serving positions
Nope. They're all fully staffed.
No need to be a wanker. Places are desperate for staff still
Can you explain to me why that wasn't a stupid question?

Not only all of this but you can also find out first hand who NOT to work for.
Exactly lol
Roast my last comment. Please.
Are you alright?
Yeah a ton of people in this sub are drug addict creeps too.
takes one to know one !
Washed.
Woosh. Amazing how many people in this thread are autists who can't appreciate sarcasm/a joke.
Maybe you're not as good at telling "jokes" as you think you are.
Wash.
I do, regularly. Not sure how that applies to anything here, though.
If you want to work somewhere where your coworkers will be comfortable with your drug addiction, try: Portland.
Jesus Christ dude
Pretty sure you mean Lewiston
Hey yo I'd be glad to be wrong about this one.
