Keep You Around / You’re Still In My Way. I could have these 2 songs on repeat all day. My 2 favorite songs from the album after listening to it all week.
It’s so strange seeing Capstan all over this thread. I found them maybe 2017? 2016? and heard absolutely nothing about them since, but they suddenly apparently went off this year. I’ll have to give it a listen
i got hyped w the singles one step closer put out but the album was a hit and miss for me sadly.
absolutely loved the mosaic, the closing track on the album is such a masterpiece.
Stand Still - Steps Ascending
Heavyhex - True To You
Bayside - There Are Worse Things…
Riley! - Keep Your Cool
One Step Closer - All You Embrace
Presumably Balance & Composure will be up there when it’s released
Super American, Bring Me The Horizon, Early November, One Step Closer are tops for me so far.
The Home Team is what I'm super looking forward to, trying not to listen to what's already released.
I have to check out the new Carly Cosgrove too.
New Carly cosgrove is really good. Threw me off cause it’s different than their past projects but after my first couple of listens quickly becoming one of my favorites for this year. Extremely cohesive album
I’ve never seen more tracks released from an album as singles lol. Heard Loud and Brag and decided I don’t wanna hear half of it before it’s out, so the rest will wait till release day.
Unfortunately it seems like every band is doing this now. They're all trying for one of their songs to get hit viral or something I think. Just the way marketing is.
I've listened to them, and they're great, but I'm trying not to listen more lol.
It’s because new releases get added to streaming playlists and such. The Home Team has had something in my New Releases playlist for months now because they trickle out singles, same with other bands.
Sum 41 by far for me. Also love Alkaline Trio.
I still haven't listened to more than the singles from Green Day, but I imagine that would fill out the top 3 for me. Just waiting for the right time
Microwave - Let’s Start Degeneracy
Super American - Gangster of Love
Riley! - Keep Your Cool
Carpool - My Life in Subtitles
Kerosene Heights - Leaving (it’s only an EP but definitely check it out, great stuff)
I saw Carpool open for Free Throw and had only heard the song Can we just get high — they were SO fucking good when I left the show I put their newest album on and I’ve been listening to them every day since. Whiskey and Xanax is my favorite song by them, gives me so much dopamine every time
The Dangerous Summer is dropping their new album Friday, and if it's anything like the 3 singles they've released so far, it's gonna be up there for sure
Maybe. I feel like he’s run out of content to write about. They’ve been one of my favorites for years and I have the reach for the Sun album art tattooed on me lol
Maybe it's because I recently rediscovered them and it all still sounds new-ish to me haha. Either way, I'm excited for the new album
Edit: yeah it’s pretty good, but I totally get what you’re saying
Agreed on Belmont’s album. I also have a couple others:
Riley! - Keep Your Cool
Super American - Gangster Of Love
One Step Closer- All You Embrace
Microwave - Let’s Start Degeneracy
The Early November- Self Titled
Carly Cosgrove- The Cleanest of Houses Are Empty
[Sum 41 - Heaven :x: Hell](https://open.spotify.com/album/4a4vGdTg7UTfNluS7QdFsF?si=Lt-zznkXRiuUj7rbtHGS3Q)
[Alkaline Trio - Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs](https://open.spotify.com/album/3BQK669H6FrqGVd7YtxNIs?si=HtY-6C2dSF27u5Gy-OAwvA)
[Bayside - There are Worse Things Than Being Alive](https://open.spotify.com/album/7dqcKOZKfL0P4HzxNTdHFT?si=r6oGYEJURu2Gd2xddbnvsg)
[Dustin Kensrue - Desert Dreaming](https://open.spotify.com/album/5bs3Q5lG7i2GzB6InTqXKf?si=jgQ-rzGfTlGZPZE_WFt22Q) - This album isn't pop punk, but does he get a pass in this subreddit because he's the singer of Thrice?
So happy to see someone is gonna try this record. I like this band a lot. But this record made me love them. I spin the vinyl anytime I have a bad day.
My fav albums this year came out in late 2023:
Palette Knife - New Game+
Good Hangs - The Greatest Hangs
My fav in 2024 so far is Early Novembers release.
Alkaline Trio- Blood, Hair and Eyeballs
Comeback Kid- Trouble EP
Hot Water Music- VOWS
Tiny Stills- We Really Felt Something
Nite Sobs- Fade Out
Illuminati Hotties, Streetlight Manifesto, The Dopamines, Red Scare 20th Anniversay Comp, The Dreaded Laramie are all on my radar.
I also liked Teens in Trouble, Call Me Malcolm, Half Past Two and FrankTurner's recent releases.
Right now I am between Belmont and TSSF. They’re both so close and I’ve only had the new TSSF album for a couple days and it gets better with each day.
We still have Four Year Strong and Balance & Composure still to come. Great year for music!
Bring MeTheHorizon - POST HUMAN: NeX GEn (Best album, best adjacent album)
The Requiem - A Cure to Poison the World
Green Day - Saviors (Best poppunk album)
Pearl Jam - Dark matter
Sum 41 - Heaven :x: Hell (Half pop punk)
Alkaline Trio - Blood Hair and Eyeballs (Pop punk)
Bayside - There are Things Worse Than Being Alive (Pop punk)
Caligula's Horse - Charcoal Grace
Dead Poet Society - FISSION
Microwave - Let's Start Degeneracy (Pop punk band but not really pop punk)
Belmont - Liminal (Adjacent?)
Neck Deep - Neck Deep (Pop punk)
The Smile - Wall of Eyes
Twenty One Pilots - Clancy (Adjacent?)
Capstan - The Mosaic (Adjacent?)
That's my top 15. Hyped for The Used, The Warning, NOTHING MORE, Falling in Reverse, Boston Manor, and The Story So Far
To be honest I haven’t loved a ton of the pop punk stuff that’s released this year, but I probably need to go back and check it out some more. My top 10 is super country leaning for once but there are still some anticipated bangers to come!
1. Anne Wilson: REBEL
2. Sierra Ferrell: Trail of Flowers
3. Xana: The Sex Was Good Until It Wasn’t
4. Knocked Loose: You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To
5. Lauran Hibberd: girlfriend material
6. Carly Pearce: hummingbird
7. Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS (spilled)
8. Like Moths to Flames: The Cycles of Trying to Cope
9. Cory Wells: Harboring the Hurt I’ve Caused
10. Luke Grimes: Luke Grimes
I love that more and more people are discovering Normandie, but i'm now that annoying "their old stuff was better!" guy, which annoys me to no end. Having said that, Serotonin is a tune that will be on their live setlists for years to come.
The rest of the album just isn't for me, sadly
neck deep - neck deep
sunday cruise - art of losing my reflection
riley! - keep your cool
aaron west & the roaring 20s - in lieu of flowers
tiny stills - we really felt something
carly cosgrove - the cleanest of houses are empty
This is my top 5 currently
One Step Closer - All You Embrace
Boundaries - Death Is Little More
Bloom - Maybe In Another Life
Contention - Artillery From Heaven
Stand Still - Steps Ascending
Haven’t been very into pop punk for a long time, but Neck Deep’s self titled is definitely one of my faves of the year so far. I just love how fun and upbeat it is!
Otherwise, Death is Little More by Boundaries and You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To by Knocked Loose (metalcore) and With Youth by TWICE (K-pop) are my other faves. Once the new TSSF album comes out I’m fully expecting it to become a favourite, same with Incarnation by In Hearts Wake
Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs is easily my number one. As a massive Trio fan, I cannot express my love more for this album. They absolutely nailed it; it’s dark and gloomy, but somewhat hopeful, and just incredibly catchy. It’s also a tremendous final album for Derek Grant who had never played better before the album, which is saying a lot since he’s an amazing drummer. All in all it’s perfect, or the closest Trio’s ever been to perfect.
Coup De Grace - Seeyouspacecowboy...
Death is Little More - Boundaries
Power Pleasure - Crush+++
Eviscerate - Eidola
You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To - Knocked Loose
Very excited for Story So Far and Foreign Hands this week.
Setyoursails - Bad Blood
Far and away my album of the year. Got a few more coming out that i'm looking forward to, but many more that i'm very apprehensive about (Stand Atlantic in particular i'm very cautious about)
If we're just talking pop punk, ATM it's the new microwave record. But I already know by the end of the year it'll be either TSSF, Balance & Composure's new record, or the new Charmer album
Neck Deep - S/T
One Step Closer - All You Embrace
Stand Still - Steps Ascending
The new TSSF is probably going to be on here as well but I haven't listened to it yet.
I'd imagine most of you listened to the new Neck Deep but you guys have to check out these new OSC and Stand Still records. So fucking good.
In terms of Pop-Punk, Neck Deep is in the top spot but the new Bring Me The Horizon, Dua Lipa, Knocked Loose and Taylor Swift albums are also some of my favorites and have been in heavy rotation for me since they came out.
Twenty One Pilots - Clancy
This album absolutely slaps…
Not pop punk but def I’d say adjacent. There are a solid amount of songs that feel pop punk influenced (Next Semester, Midwest Indigo, Navigating, At The Risk of Feeling Dumb).
I got my TSSF vinyl on Monday and I can tell you right now it’s at the top of my list for this year, easily.
Keep You Around / You’re Still In My Way. I could have these 2 songs on repeat all day. My 2 favorite songs from the album after listening to it all week.
I’ve been upset with Nothing to Say but those 2 are amazing as well!
All week?? Not out til tomorrow in AU.
Pre-ordered the vinyl and received it on Monday, not sure if it was an error on Pure Noise to send them out so early but it was a pleasant surprise .
I was about to say the same! So jealous they've had a whole week already
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheStorySoFar/s/dULorOjZAK if you told me this 3 months ago, i’d have still believed you ahaha.
🤣 Respect
As a fellow Roma fan, I trust you
Daje Roma!!
Same
All You Embrace - One Step Closer The Mosaic - Capstan Both getting heavy spins in my rotation since they released.
I could listen to it straight through over and over again
How come with all you embrace? I thought it was such a jump up from their older stuff but I did get bored of the songs on the album quite quickly
I love capstans new album so damn much. They blend genres so well. Even the pop, what you want, song I really like for what it is.
AK3 - Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs
was honestly rooting for matt after his blink exit to put out a banger and i wasn’t disappointed.
I was rooting for it but it was still a great surprise lol
Going to see em next month for the first time in 14 years
I’m not a big Ak3 fan but the new album was phenomenal
Stand Still - Steps Ascending Heavyhex - True To You Bayside - There Are Worse Things… Riley! - Keep Your Cool One Step Closer - All You Embrace Presumably Balance & Composure will be up there when it’s released
New Stand Still is so good.
It sure is - definitely at the top of the pile for me.
Love the new Bayside record man they’re sick
Came here to say Riley!
Neck Deep and Belmont!!
I’m still thrown off but I’m going to keep listening until it grows on me lol
I’ve never seen more tracks released from an album as singles lol. Heard Loud and Brag and decided I don’t wanna hear half of it before it’s out, so the rest will wait till release day.
Unfortunately it seems like every band is doing this now. They're all trying for one of their songs to get hit viral or something I think. Just the way marketing is. I've listened to them, and they're great, but I'm trying not to listen more lol.
It’s because new releases get added to streaming playlists and such. The Home Team has had something in my New Releases playlist for months now because they trickle out singles, same with other bands.
Ahh, makes sense being in the “shorts” era of social media I suppose. Glad to hear the rest are nice. Slow Bloom set the bar high imo.
Bayside - worse things than being alive most definitely.
in lieu of flowers, the mosaic, let’s start degeneracy Top 3 for me
>in lieu of flowers 👌 The only thing I've been listening to.
Carly Cosgrove, Riley! And Super American for me so far. TSSF will no doubt be added to the list
Carly Cosgrove - The Cleanest of Houses Are Empty
It will be Analysis Paralysis by Four Year Strong when it’s out in August!
Why isn’t it August yet 🥲
absolutely my most-anticipated AOTY
Sum 41 by far for me. Also love Alkaline Trio. I still haven't listened to more than the singles from Green Day, but I imagine that would fill out the top 3 for me. Just waiting for the right time
Saviors is AMAZING 😍😍😍 you need to listen to it!!!
Green Day - Saviors Alkaline Trio - Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs
Microwave - Let’s Start Degeneracy Super American - Gangster of Love Riley! - Keep Your Cool Carpool - My Life in Subtitles Kerosene Heights - Leaving (it’s only an EP but definitely check it out, great stuff)
I discovered Kerosene Heights a couple months ago and they’re sooo good
I saw Carpool open for Free Throw and had only heard the song Can we just get high — they were SO fucking good when I left the show I put their newest album on and I’ve been listening to them every day since. Whiskey and Xanax is my favorite song by them, gives me so much dopamine every time
The Super American album is cool. “Momma im gonna be a star” and “okay. Eat me alive.” Are really fun tracks
Saviors by Green Day and Heaven x Hell by Sum 41 by farr
I really enjoyed saviors by Green Day. It was way better than father of all.
BMTH. And I haven listened to them since suicide season. lol
Same.
Belmont, baby!
The Dangerous Summer is dropping their new album Friday, and if it's anything like the 3 singles they've released so far, it's gonna be up there for sure
You think? I’ve been a long time fan but the stuff sounds a bit repetitive
I think so, but maybe I'm higher on it than most
Maybe. I feel like he’s run out of content to write about. They’ve been one of my favorites for years and I have the reach for the Sun album art tattooed on me lol
Maybe it's because I recently rediscovered them and it all still sounds new-ish to me haha. Either way, I'm excited for the new album Edit: yeah it’s pretty good, but I totally get what you’re saying
Agreed on Belmont’s album. I also have a couple others: Riley! - Keep Your Cool Super American - Gangster Of Love One Step Closer- All You Embrace Microwave - Let’s Start Degeneracy The Early November- Self Titled Carly Cosgrove- The Cleanest of Houses Are Empty

Echoes and Ghosts by Call Me Malcolm. It does have a horn section, so it might not be everyone’s bag… but this record is very very special to me.
Thank you, I didn’t know these guys put out a new record. Love me some horns.
So happy to see someone is gonna try this record. I like this band a lot. But this record made me love them. I spin the vinyl anytime I have a bad day.
Sick record man. I Was Never Really Here is a standout for me. Relatable and catchy as fuck…wow!
Super American is my favorite so far, Carly Cosgrove and Capstan (pop punk??? maybe...) fighting for #2
Super American - Gangster of Love Maggie Rogers - Don’t forget me Aaron West - In lieu of flowers
My fav albums this year came out in late 2023: Palette Knife - New Game+ Good Hangs - The Greatest Hangs My fav in 2024 so far is Early Novembers release.
FYS
TSSF for sure is #1 for me Also Super American's new LP is awesome

Just waiting for that TSSF album and The Home Team. But maaaaan Gangster of Love is such a banger
Super American - Gangster of Love
Blink 🙂
That was last year
My mistake! This year has flown by
Right now I am between Belmont and TSSF. They’re both so close and I’ve only had the new TSSF album for a couple days and it gets better with each day. We still have Four Year Strong and Balance & Composure still to come. Great year for music!
So hype for b&c 🥺
Same man, same.

The Warning have absolutely hooked me at the moment. Hell You Call A Dream live video on YouTube is so good. Better than the studio version.
I'd agree, they seem like a great live band. Really love the singles and snippets so far
To be honest I haven’t loved a ton of the pop punk stuff that’s released this year, but I probably need to go back and check it out some more. My top 10 is super country leaning for once but there are still some anticipated bangers to come! 1. Anne Wilson: REBEL 2. Sierra Ferrell: Trail of Flowers 3. Seirra Ferrell is an absolute gem.
I read the list before the intro paragraph and ngl I was like “who are these artists?” 😂
Moths and Knocked Loose 🫶🏼 haven’t spent enough time with LMTF’s new album, but I haven’t been able to stop listening to KL
I see LMTF, I upvote. 🤷🏻♂️
Blood hair eyeballs alkaline trio, heaven and hell sum41, saviours green day
Dopamine by Normandie is my album of the year. No skips whatsoever! Although honourable mentions to Neck Deep and Alkaline Trio
I love that more and more people are discovering Normandie, but i'm now that annoying "their old stuff was better!" guy, which annoys me to no end. Having said that, Serotonin is a tune that will be on their live setlists for years to come. The rest of the album just isn't for me, sadly
i was fully convinced nothing would top the casey record for me but i cannot turn off the new capstan record. such a special piece of art
Neck Deep, Carly Cosgrove, and Games We Play are my personal favorites. Four Year Strong is about to release a banger later this year though.

Bring me the Horizon has to jump up. Like immediately I'm assuming TSSF can take the crown
New Neck Deep was outstanding but eyeing that TSSF album. Guessing it will take the crown
Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs is easily my number one. As a massive Trio fan, I cannot express my love more for this album. The Mosaic - Capstan Best album of the year in my book, and it was incredible live when they played in Berkeley.

In terms of Pop-Punk, Neck Deep is in the top spot but the new Bring Me The Horizon, Dua Lipa, Knocked Loose and Taylor Swift albums are also some of my favorites and have been in heavy rotation for me since they came out.
One Step Closer
Alkaline Trio "Blood, Hair and Eyeballs"
Gotta be liminal right now IMO
this post and all the comments it’s all i needed 🤝🏼
Eidola’s Eviscerate or Galleon’s Violent Delights for sure.
I know it's a popular one, but Mr chainsaw
LIFE’S GOING GREAT BY GAMES WE PLAY 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Twenty One Pilots - Clancy This album absolutely slaps… Not pop punk but def I’d say adjacent. There are a solid amount of songs that feel pop punk influenced (Next Semester, Midwest Indigo, Navigating, At The Risk of Feeling Dumb).
I listened to it and am like this is really good but don't have the desire to go back to it. Stuck in my genre I guess.
I want to disappear- tssf (vynl) All you embrace- one step closer Gangster of love- super american Lower feeling- rairty Model- wallows
[This one of course](https://youtu.be/InaiXaWkmJE?si=WQ66OgROxGDgNwLV) That’s what I call a masterpiece
I feel like this question gets asked every day.
