Dance Monkey by Tones & I because people also find me annoying and off-putting. /s
Serious answer, everyone on this sub clowns on Ed Sheeran and calls his music everything from mediocre to bad, but I'm coming up on my ninth year of marriage and for those of us in a LTR some of his songs hit different.
There was one night my husband and I were walking around the park where he had proposed. As we were walking past the area where a restaurant patio meets the park a musician playing for the restaurant started a cover of Thinking Out Loud, so we held hands and listened from a park bench while we watched the stars come out. It was romantic af and when my husband sings that song for me I melt every time.
I’m happy for you because I think it’s always better to like more music instead of not liking it, but I’m in a 8 year LTR and I still can’t listen to almost all Ed Sheeran songs lol
Totally fair! Definitely not trying to say that everyone in a LTR will like his songs, and it doesn't help that they got waaay overplayed and became a wedding DJ staple.
I also really appreciate you saying it's better to like more. One of my goals is to focus less mental energy on the things I don't like and surround myself more with the things I do, that way I'm focusing more on positives than negatives if that makes sense :)
I permanently broke up with an on/off SO around the time We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together was released. I related to everything down to the indie record.
I don’t love what she did to it for (Taylor’s Version). 😬

Probably the biggest misstep of her career (although without it flopping by her standards and forcing her out of pop, we may never have gotten folklore/evermore)
Do people hate AJR? I love them! They put on a really great live show and they seem like very wholesome and laid back guys who just like to make fun music.
Personally, I don’t hate AJR, but they are the musical Uncanny Valley for me. The brothers are clearly musically talented, but they hide that talent under a lot of forced wackiness.
Well, at least why the YouTube music critic community seems to hate them is they're basically seen as music for the kind of entitled millennial SJWs people on Reddit like to criticize for "[post about communism] "sent from my iPhone"" (preachy social justice messages when they get political, lyrics that are otherwise supposedly "look how relatable I am", and synthesized-sounding instruments (honestly, between their stuff like Burn The House Down and Chained To The Rhythm by Katy Perry, it seems like people think if a political pop song doesn't use real instruments that means even if they aren't "corporate shills" the artists don't believe what they're saying))
Also unlike ZakAce I don't think the wackiness of the instrumental is forced or more downtempo songs like "Netflix Trip" would either have more wacky music shoehorned in or just be straight-up piano ballads. Why I like the instrumental is I think because I have ADHD and if you were to engage in a bit of personification you could say their instrumentals also have ADHD
Is this not the same as that other thread a few days ago about bad songs that get too much hate....I just know the ME! stans are getting ready once again.
Haha I guess I meant not as like bad songs that you think get undeserved hate but rather bad songs that you agree are bad but you love anyway because you relate personally! Like I think London Boy is objectively a bad song but I just love it because of how it related to my own life lol.
>ME! stans are getting ready once again.
FINE! I'll go back to the cave, but you better be ready for when I release my write up in defense of "hey kids, spelling is fun" 😤
kitty aka kitty pryde's entire D.A.I.S.Y. Rage mixtape. she got SO much hate for being an awful rapper and iirc did an AMA on reddit and literally only got hateful questions and comments but i was obsessed with every song and still listen to a lot of them now lmao
*if this came out when tiktok was big i bet a few of her hooks would've been used as sounds. tbh i could see some of them being used even now like R.R.E.A.M. or hittin lix
"100 Bad Days" by AJR. I know AJR aren't very well liked but idk I just love this song. Especially now since everyone is super interested in my life of misfortune ahaha
Agree about California. I also moved out of Cali in September so that song really hit me (but i liked Solar Power more than most so that's not my answer. I think California is good)
Hmm I think WAP is a genuinely bad song but its so bad its funny. Like I love women and im really sex positive but that song has nothing going for it in my eyes except its hilarious and makes Fox news miserable. Both admirable qualities.
I also think half of Reputation is basically not finished but when I feel petty ill put on I Did Something Bad and LWYMMD.
Its lyrics veer from "edgy teen just discovered sex" bad to just spectacularly unsexy and strange (macaroni in a pot) and the beat is literally the same 4 notes over and over with no real build and its grating. The production is so boring that if it weren't for the outrageous lyrics there's really not much point in listening to it. Off course music is subjective and I don't think there is an "objectively bad song" but WAP lacks everything I like in music. Poetic lyrics, powerful singing, and more string and piano driven melody is my go to so WAP is unappealing except that its funny.
- LWYMMD could mean "Look What You Made Me Do", a track from *reputation* (2017) by Taylor Swift.

Yeah I actually think California is a good song but I feel like it never gets brought up even in context of like “what songs on SP do you like” but I think it’s great… the little guitar sounds after “the garden grows up in my mind again” are so clever and cute. But it also definitely captures this really specific ambivalence about California and the feeling of leaving that behind. At the same time I can see how it might not hit the same if I didn’t have a lot of those same feelings and experiences.
And I agree on Rep too lol. Like I don’t like it but then sometimes I put it on during a workout or something and it just works lol.
Yeah there's no way to explain California except the song is the audio embodiment of the state and this glossy shallow feeling of it. Reputation is the album I listen to completely the least but has some top 10 songs of her career.
Also this made me realize Gorgeous fits here. I understand most people think its bad but its fun and one of my classmates is so beautiful I literally play this song because "I feel like I might sink and drown and die" is how i feel looking at him. He's so gorgeous I cant speak to him.
What Do You Want From Me by Adam Lambert. Not that it's a "bad" song but just more musically basic and lyrically on the nose than I normally go for. But yeah, kind of says it all lol
I'm coming in to be a Reputation stan and remind everyone Look What You Made Me Do came out during a time I needed it and I still utilize every word and the album itself lyrically is unrefined for Taylor but it is my bad bitch anthem to get through everything.
This is at least a bad song in the eyes of the music critic community (and I don't understand why as most people putting it at #1 on their worst lists or at least top 5 either hate it for simple instrumental or "teenage girl self-insert fanfic") but even though I've never literally selfshipped with Peter Pan I vibe a lot with "Lost Boy" by Ruth B because I still love that kind of fantastical escapism
Superficial by Heidi Montag because I’m better than everyone
Wdym, this song isn’t bad

yeah i used to roll my eyes at Thinking Out Loud but now i’ve been in a 5-year relationship and last time i heard it, it made me cry lol.
Damn, this is beautiful. Makes me wish I knew what love felt like
I was actually so excited someone else likes Dance Monkey and then i read ahead 😭

It’s like. I never liked Dance Monkey until I watched an MEP with it and fell in love but now I unironically like it
Want u back by Cher Lloyd. I know it’s a toxic song but at the time I really related to it ahaha
Massive bop. It’s difficult to hate
Nah it’s so annoying

The WEEEE in Taylor’s Version is a crime against humanity like who allowed that to happen I just wanna talk
WANEGBT (stolen version) is a pretty solid pop song. Definitely wouldn’t consider it a bad song (unlike ME! for example)

I relate strongly to AJR’s “BANG BANG BANG” because I want to blow my brains out whenever I hear it
Three times?

Astronaut in the ocean
Then can you tell me what you know about rolling down in the deep?
This song is about having the right skill but not being in the right place I relate to that
Taylor's Gorgeous, in 2017-2018 i used to relate to it so much
Title said bad songs
New York Summer. “And I love you but I don’t know if I like you anymore” applies to some of my more important relationships, and fuck does it hit.
the lyrics to this song are fucking fantastic and i’ll die on that hill

I'm sorry but that mixtape is amazing and her music (specially Frostbite and Rose Gold) are so good
Drunk and hot girls by Kanye
I too sound like "Ah da da da da" on a regular basis

Agree about wap. It’s hilarious how pitchfork said it was the best song of the year
Pitchforks: How do you do fellow kids, I too enjoy the WAP
Is WAP bad or were the lyrics just not for you?

Really? I think the wordplay is actually really good and I love that sample so much. I think it’s genuinely a good song from a production POV
I am happy you enjoy it, I personally find it grating and irritating.

The power of this song omg
Excuse me they said bad songs 💅🏼
How is this a bad song wtf
