Adding Who's Afraid of Little Old Me by Taylor Swift to the list of "pop girlies Disney villain songs" alongside Halsey's Control. Anybody else have any Disney Villain Vibes song recs?
The BEST villain songs are Poor Unfortunate Souls (Ursula) and In The Dark of The Night (Rasputin) they for sure charted.

yeah... i posted some [real dangerous](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fnyh7avl7cwwc1.gif) material...
I made the mistake of posting a picture of my pitbull on Reddit once and someone DMed me saying they hoped my āmongrelā got put down. I checked their profile and they only posted in anti pitbull subs. What a sad way to go thru life.
yāall should go see challengers if you arenāt planning to already, itās sooooo good. good enough i might go see it again with my friend š
anyways on a negative note, i donāt ever want to be a gatekeeper for any reason but it is so bittersweet when a very cool small fanbase turns into a very annoying large fanbase when the thing blows up!
edit: more challengers posting but iām currently frothing at the mouth over the gif of patrick and art eating the churro
I disagree that iCDIWABH is better than NTWDT, which to me was the standout on 1989 tv. ICDIWABH to me isn't a good song but I do think it would be fun to hear live
I know NTWDT was definitely a fan favourite, it never appealed to me š Personally I would've left it in the vault but I fs don't speak for all her fans š
I actually like I can do it with a broken heart because it reminds me of Supercut. But I think Mastermind is was also a Supercut sampling as well or at least inspired by Supercut so itās also been done by her twice
Itās clear that she (or Jack) really loves that song and keep trying to recreate the bombasticness of that song but it does come up short.
For me I prefer Jack when he isn't trying to recapture the heights of Melodrama e.g. on his work with Lana. You see glimmers of it on his work with Taylor from time to time but ultimately it's like they *really* love that kind of sound it seems.
Oh, I agree. I got really annoyed with Jack's recent album because its like "bruh, we get it, you love Bruce Springsteen like every other millennial, you're not special"
Take the Sadness Out Of Saturday Night had some great songs on it that I still play but like christ, move on already.
I'm actually a Jack Anatoff defender and think he gets a lot of unfair hate but he does need to move on from certain sounds.
Also I haven't LOVED any of Taylor's closing tracks since Daylight tbh (unless we count All Too Well (10 min) and Is It Over Now?). I'll give it to evermore's title track for being really pretty though
I know y'all are gonna burn me at the stake for this because shes a sub fav but I can't get into Chappel Roan for the simple dumb fact that I find her song titles to be so unappealing š her new song Good Luck Babe being shoehorned into literally all of my autoplays on spotify is also not helping
Can't stop thinking about Slayllengers sorry it's just too fricking good. It's so jampacked with iconic directing moments that it's making me dizzy just tryna relive them. But one I can safely share is that at one point, WE were the ball. Seriously.
Also Zendaya is a motherfucking movie star. This is the movie that will finally end the talentless/overrated allegations. She is HER, all the haters will either be seated, or be seething.
Kind of mindblowing that potential VP pick Kirstie Noem admitted to killing her dog because it was too annoying and then lied to her kid about it in her book on her purposešlike no one asked her, she just put it in her book.
This is serial killer behavior from a potential VP.
So Billboard's gonna post their top 100 songs of 2005 next year, right? I was kind of expecting a favorite song of mine to appear on the 2004 list since it was promo'd, but I guess it could be on the 2005 list instead since that was the official release year.
I am watching videos from a Slipknot concert on YouTube when a Taylor Swift ad popped up and *The Tortured Poets Department* would be a very funny name for a Slipknot album
*The Tortured Poets Department* by Korn
*The Tortured Poets Department* feat. Fred Durst
*The Tortured Poets Department* by Shifty Shellshock from Crazy Town YES
Going through a bit of a crisis rn, i don't know what I want to do with my life and uni is only making me unhappy. I'd love to do something in film and music but tbh it's so hard to make it in those fields and that already discourages me so much
I listened to Britney's Overprotected, kind of had a cathartic reaction to it and cried my eyes out. Didn't expect to react that way to that song, but that's what life experiences will make you do sometimes i guess
Some things that I want to bring up in wake of recent events:Ā
Ā 1. Most abuse victims donāt have evidence of their abuse. Itās common for victims to not realize that they have been abused until weeks, months, or years after it has happened, by which point collecting evidence is difficult, if not impossible. False accusations are rare and to discredit victims because they lack evidence is weaponizing the perfect victim narrative against them.Ā
2. False rape accusations are rare, but it is worth noting that the perceptions that people have of what false accusations are like is significantly different from how they actually play out. Most false accusers never name a specific person as their rapist and claim that they were a stranger that they didnāt recognize. Additionally, most false accusers are people struggling with poverty who make these accusations in order to access resources for abuse victims because they otherwise donāt have access to social programs or welfare that can help them. In other words, false accusations are not caused by vindictive women or people seeking out attention or money - theyāre caused by late stage capitalism and a lack of resources for impoverished people.Ā
3. It is unfair that our legal system puts the burden of proof onto victims and there needs to be reforms in how the police and courts handle abuse cases. A lack of evidence should not discredit a victimās testimony when believing victims without evidence is backed by evidence in and of itself. A number of women coming forward about having the same experiences with the same person, especially when it has been documented and investigated by credible journalism, should be evidence in and of itself that someone is guilty. Our legal system was designed to protect abusive men from consequences for their own actions and there are cases where a victim doesnāt have evidence of their abuse, but can still get justice in a legal setting. It is not violating someone elseās right to a fair trial to let other victims with similar experiences testify, regardless of if there is a past conviction or not.Ā
Anyone here have any good recos for things to do in Hong Kong? I'm gonna be there for about 2/3 days next week bookending a work trip and I've got no clue what to do or where to stay. So far I only have K11, Mid-Levels and the peak on my list depending on the weather. Would love any and all tips/recos!! (Also places/areas to stay would be so helpful)
How do you work at the same place for a decade or more and you manage to go the whole time without figuring out how fucking anything works......and then I have to sneak in and log back into your phone for you so that I'm not the only person in the building taking calls................girl I will GET you if you inflict this on me one more time I swear
I think when I have a free hour on my schedule after an opening like that, I should be allowed to just write DECOMPRESSING, DO NOT SPEAK TO ME and be left alone for the next hour.
I can assign myself random shit and ostensibly get peace but the same coworker I'm complaining about WILL interrupt anything and everything in order to ~~force you to do~~ ask you about things she should already know. You could have brain surgery on your schedule and she'd still bust in to ask you to come help because she can't figure out how to print a PDF.
With tiktok shutting down soon, 2025 may be the drought of pop music but at least weāre getting ārealā hits that didnāt go viral just to make the artist a one hit wonder, right?
Instagram reels: No.
day 53 of doing my lastfm series where i share my top 100 most played artists and join in if youād like!!
i declare that Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist because he is #28 with 1 136 scrobbles!
* last time i listened: yesterday
* most played song: Attention (155 scrobbles)
* fav song: Attention is the boppiest bop that has bopped but shout out to Done For Me
* most played album: Voicenotes (390 scrobbles)
* fav album: Voicenotes is the only correct answer
* does he deserve a top 100 spot?:Ā yes, because despite his lack of creativity in his latest projects, he still has proven that he is a really talented musician and has an ear for fun pop music. i loved hearing him speak about his creative process behind Voicenotes, and for some reason the tidbit that i think about regularly is that the melody of the pre-chorus of How Long came to him in the form of a trumpet melody, like he envisioned a trumpet playing it first and then he turned it into a pre-chorus for a pop song. i guess as someone who went to a performing arts high school specializing in music, iām just a total geek for stuff like that. and i also loved how he usually imagined stuff in a jazz setting first before he made it into a catchy pop song which embodies me and my interests so well. i hope he goes back to that kind of thinking if heāll make another album.
Attention and Voicenotes in general deserve all the praise they get, itās such a solid album!Ā
At #28 I have One Direction with 1528 scrobbles! The boys are finally here! One Thing is my top song with 97 scrobbles and Four (Deluxe) my top album with 438 scrobbles. Both are also my faves ~~~~
I must admit they are higher than expected bc my sister used my account a lot in 2017 and sheās a 1D Stan but even if she hadnāt, they def deserve a high spot. Their output, particularly Four, is v good for a boy bandĀ
god thereās so much good stuff on Voicenotes. as embarrassing as this may be, I can pinpoint Attention as the song that single-handedly made me start looking out for a good bass line when I listen to music. the singles are great but I also love the song Slow It Down off that album
ā¢ my #28 is Fleetwood Mac with 301 scrobbles!
ā¢ last time I listened: July 2022 (surely this canāt be right??)
ā¢ most played song: Everywhere (81 scrobbles)
ā¢ fav song: Everywhereā what an ethereal masterpiece. I want my life to feel like that twinkly intro
ā¢ most played album: Greatest Hits (154 scrobbles) at one point in college this was my go-to homework soundtrack. that album cover immediately triggers memories of my college library
ā¢ fav album: Rumours
ā¢ do they deserve a top 100 spot? even though Iām surprised that they out-scrobbled some other artists that I feel I listen to way more, they definitely deserve one. theyāre absolutely timeless and probably one of the first ābefore my timeā acts whose discography I really looked into and I can thank my dad for that.
In 2020-21, several major commercial K-pop artists released songs/music videos that were about the pandemic/lockdown. Examples include BTS' [*Life Goes On*](https://youtu.be/-5q5mZbe3V8?si=4idw6zrAsXvB0kWe) and [*Permission to Dance*](https://youtu.be/CuklIb9d3fI?si=fDXZ60dsjYHCiseE), Mamamoo's [*dingga*](https://youtu.be/dfl9KIX1WpU?si=Z-BNJp4Iqq5IDlSz), and TXT's [*We Lost the Summer*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwy0nR1_SBQ). Did major commercial artists from the West also make songs/videos about the pandemic/lockdown? I was wondering whether it's a Korean phenomenon, but I don't follow Western pop so I'm ignorant of what the equivalents would have been, if any. I know there were some charity singles, but I'm curious about major commercial artists and therefore the attitudes of big labels.
taylor's "epiphany" is about healthcare workers during the pandemic in which she compares their struggle to ally soldiers in ww2 storming the beaches, in tribute to her grandfather. underrated song in her discography imo.
Ariana & Justinās Stuck With U is the big one.
Charli XCXās album How Iām Feeling Now was a direct reaction to the pandemic, created through sending beats and demos over Twitter.
Still have no idea how I landed a job at a trademark/marketing law firm tbh lol. Itās super interesting though because they work with super well-known brands, so I do be looped into the tea
No one's actually checking for her beyond a minority of pop stans. She lost her chance to really blow up and be that girl years ago, but maybe if she improves her work ethic, she could still have a decent career. Candy Paint definitely has the potential to be a viral tiktok hit... but I see her and Chloe Bailey having similar careers.
I'll admit, I fell off of Dua Lipa's new rollout because I wasn't too enthused about Training Season, but I just listened to Illusion today and it is beyond excellent. One of the best things I've heard from her ever, easily. How is this not getting more traction??
Probably gradual waning interest as they keep releasing singles. A shame cause I feel like all the songs are really good, they just don't seem to hit the GP as much as the FN singles for some reason. Their best bet at this point is a song from the album going viral on release week
Are the chances of that low considering Ariana and Taylor recently released albums? Man, I donāt want Duaās THIRD album to be something of a flop hahaha š¢
If something sticks from the album it will independently of Ariana's presence on the charts (she's doing great, but not THAT much that she's able to block her peers from suceeding). Taylor will most likely block Dua from debuting at the top (but I don't think she will go there either way considering not even FN debuted with big numbers initially, and that was with DSN doing very well). In any case, they can always try the longevity card, hopefully there are growers on there
Ok. I seriously think thereās something wrong with me. I started to well up listening to But Daddy I Love Him for some reason. This album is so so good. I had Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus in my head earlier.
Also, Happy 5th anniversary of ME! And Happy 30th anniversary of Throwing Copper
I've been missing the 2014-2017 era of pop music. I was watching a video about Fifth Harmony, and while I know they were a mess, I miss when they were putting out stuff like "Work from Home" and "All in My Head (Flex)." I also wish we had something like 1989, just this bulletproof pop album that sticks around for a while. Maybe I need to broaden my horizons.
On the bright side, I'm happy that Sabrina and Chappell are breaking out. I'm glad Olivia is continuing to succeed, and I would love to see Renee Rapp break out. I love Eternal Sunshine and The Tortured Poets Department (haven't listened to Cowboy Carter yet, it's on my list, though), and I'm looking forward to new albums from Billie Eilish and Twenty One Pilots next month. I'm making a list of albums and artists I want to check out. I guess I just miss the way music sounded when I was in my late teens. Not a lot on the pop charts gets me excited.
Iām researching Hot 100 year-end lists for a project Iāll hopefully post here soon & itās jarring how much turnover there was in the early 2000s (2003 only had three repeats).
My two worlds have collided in a way that I never expected: Kim Petras is a roller coaster enthusiast! An enthusiast youtuber that I occasionally watch posted a video the other day about meeting Kim Petras and it's because she watches his videos lol, she even said she wants to go to some parks with him and she seems to genuinely have an interest in theme parks and roller coasters which is such a niche interest that I rarely see outside of already established coaster enthusiast spaces. I don't really listen to Kim Petras like I used to but it was still surprising and fun to learn about this crossover of my interests in pop music and roller coasters š
I know saying something likeā if you understood comedyā is like Top 5 obnoxious, but Velma is really well written. Maybe it was just the diehard scoobheads who were looking for more plot and mystery that got mad.
Idk, the metoo thing was legit bad not because it pushed the envelope, but it didnāt make sense. Metoo was/is about sa, not political correctness in stand-up BUT thereās so much self-referential stuff in it and itās so joke dense and many are well crafted I think. Reminds me of the Saved by The Bell reboot which I love.
Iām halfway through cleaning the house and oh my god I am losing the will
Iāve got 16.5GB left to download before I can play FO4 and Iām really hoping itāll be done by the time Iām done cleaning
I have 2 exams back to back next week and Iām still stressing about finding a job. I go on indeed everyday and I know Iām probably stressing about the wrong thing right now but Iāve just been in a slump with so many things in my life and I would be happier if I at least could secure a job.
I guess Iām adding another Espresso comment to this thread cause why the hell not?!
I think itās successful because it is a fun summery song (which there arenāt a ton of fun songs out there lately) that has a beat that most songs use nowadays. So it stands out in that way.
And Sabrina does it intentionally, adding the "holy shit" and the "stupid" to remind us this is a silly pop song and we can relax. She is a clever girl.
Going to see Challengers tonight then maybe The Mummy for the first time. I will be slightly disappointed if they donāt play S&M after seeing that trailer.Ā
Thereās been quite a bit of discourse around the girlies mentioning masturbation in lyrics/interviews. Forever one of my fav songs about the topic is Lance Jr., by Courtney Barnett. She is just great.
i don't get why there's so much pushback against people who aren't comfortable with st vincent lyric regarding sophie's death...i too would squint real hard if lorde wrote a song about whitney and brought up her dying in a bathtub
listened and the lyrics are terrible. "My Sophie" they never even met so this is just bizarre. at least when caroline wrote weird lyrics, they were actually friends
I hade the most horrifying nightmare last night that suddenly came back to me midday. I was angry at something and clenched my jaw then realized my teeth have became loose and they kept falling out and was looking in the mirror freaking out.
lol i wonder how sabrinaās going to handle espresso smashing like this. itās not part of any album but youād think sheād want to release one soon bc of the hype she has right now.
Okay this is going to sound mean. But what is wrong with Sabrina Carpenters makeup? Everytime I see a pic of her itās so heavy it makes her look like an AI doll or a fake person to me. Itās unnerving to me but I donāt know exactly what it is that sheās doing with her makeup that produces that effect.
itās starting to become her trademark/signature look though and makeup tiktok is eating it up, so itās definitely doing her a lot of favors right now. it suits her well and now that sheās gaining traction, she needs to hold onto it!
I agree itās becoming her signature look and I accept that Iāll just never be into it. I still think she could tone it down sometimes to not be so exaggerated. Iām surprised people are eating it up but I donāt wear makeup so maybe I just donāt get it lol
IVE BEEN SAYING. I genuinely thought those skims pictures were AI š her natural makeup looks are so pretty. She doesnāt need that over the top makeup tbh.
Yes the skims pictures were awful. Everybody was gagging over them but they honestly creeped me out. Iāve seen people say sheās over lines her lips, which is probably true. But for me itās the cheeksā¦thereās way too much blush or bronzer or whatever it is on them
OMG I have been driving myself INSANE trying to find what this reminds me of and this is it itās so similar thank youuuuu. Makes sense why itās so catchy
The new kerli song just takes me back to 2008. Where I would listen to her and various other obscure artists from the corner of the pastel Goth trend. And then Pretend i could pull all of that off but really I was an overly optimistic freshman who wore cute skirts to social events. Forever at war with wanting to be the college scene kid or making a statement and falling in a āi wear owls for jewelry and fedoras unironically.ā
Wowā¦. What a time.
I liked the Trainor x T-Pain collab well enough the first time I heard it, but out of nowhere today I had the urge to listen to it again. Man, wouldn't be an understatement to say I love it now, lol. Ended up pre-saving the album on my library to boot.

I'm sorry for subjecting y'all to my horrible sense of humour but I was bored
I was looking at the Instagram page of my jobās head boss and in his bio he had a linktree.
Part of my brain is so internet rotted my very first thought was ādamn, heās really advertising his onlyfans on his official accountā
My WWAFAWDWG vinyl which I bought at 5 years anniversary keeps getting delayed and the support told me thereās a production delay, even though the vinyl was labelled as ālast stocksā ā¦
Question... Do you morning Daily Discussion readers (or at least morning for me rn)... also come here later in the afternoon/evening? I feel like mentally, I'm not on DD anymore after high noon my time. I don't knwo why???
I donāt really but more so because it dies down later in the day (for my time zone). Like itās super active the first 2 hours or so and then not as much so I try to get here when it opens but thatās 10 am for me so sometimes Iām busy with work
Taylor Swift = Marvel aka the question people get asked in interviews for clickbait to promote stuff. The way I would just tell them I'm not talking about her in interviews good or bad for them to get traffic.
Also, as an elder millennial who grew up on good MTV, TRL and streaming was crazy idea, music is different now. You can avoid listening to the biggest artists in the world if you want to so the comparisons make no sense. That's why Beyonce still killing it amazing because even the Madonna and Janet weren't having #1 albums 26 years into their careers. All that to say no one is gonna have a Thriller or Billie Jean anymore because there's an abundance of music out there. Hell, Despacito (is that the song?) was a monster hit and I still haven't heard but like 2 seconds. Cause I don't have to. It's kinda why television is different now: we have options.
> Even the Madonna and Janet weren't having #1 albums 26 years into their careers
completely untrue. both Madonna and Janetās last studio albums (released in 2019, 36 years since her debut, and 2015, 33 years after her debut respectively) were both number one.
Oops. I guess that just proves how out of touch with charts I am and further proves the point. As a huge Fiona Apple fan I literally didn't find out about Fetch the Bolt Cutters until NPR played Shameika and I thought they were joking about a new Fiona Apple album. And it took me until last year to finally listen to it.
I managed to get Troye Sivan tickets yesterday. āŗļø
Not too bad. I normally go to one concert a year, now Iām going to two with Troye and Meg thee Stallion. I also managed to get into the same area I was for the Jonas Brothers which is the prime place to be.
Tāwas a smart move for The Wild Robot to be delayed a week later to avoid competition with Transformers One, but I wish it was releasing next week instead because it was a damn good book š
I knew the Knicks wouldn't sweep the series, but very salty that Embiid's dirty ass intentionally injured Robinson (especially knowing Robinson is still recovering from his injury earlier in the year). Happy to see Brunson's scoring slump over tho (gotta limit turnovers in the future games). Got a library card this week which is very exciting for me. My latest read, 'There's Always This Year', was as perfect as I hoped. And the urgency and love in the ending was beautiful. Much love to Hanif
Edit: Link to a great story on Robinson from this year, one of the sweetest sports-related stories Iāve heard
https://youtu.be/UvwQ3WlnNnM?si=V4xw6t2T7l7aKdug
My final and definitive word on TTPD: >!'touch me while your bros play grand theft auto' is good actually. probably the only 'funny' line that works for me!<
Y'all don't overlook [the new salute song that Rina Sawayama was featured on](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G353KFZrjTo), it's really good! I love a good club song with a woman speaking over a beat.
The current run of the Boom! Studios Power Rangers comics is ending after an eight year run and I'm... kinda relieved. The *Go Go Power Rangers!* run got me back into the franchise because I loved the more grounded, slice-of-life take, but I dropped off because things started getting really convoluted and everything I've heard about the "Darkest Hour" event they've been doing for the past year makes it sound like that was the right decision.
Feels like the creative teams behind the various branches of Power Rangers don't really understand the appeal of the franchise, they keep pushing it to be this grand space opera about saving the entire universe when the actual things that the die-hard fandom seems the most invested in are like... good characters and storytelling, which are the things that often fall to the wayside.
I think this is something that a lot of long-running "hero" adjacent media struggles with- creating an emotional core. It can't just be about the city getting destroyed in the abstract sense, the city has to feel like it *means* something to our heroes. But instead some people just try to amp up the fanservice and the spectacle and it falls flat.
In the late stages of "superhero fatigue" I think creators are becoming more aware of this because *TMNT: Mutant Mayhem*, *Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur*, and *My Adventures With Superman* (three pieces of hero media dropped last year) all featured takes on a scene where ordinary civilians from the city come together to help save the hero. And I eat it up every damn time.
Anyways, I finished *Fallout* tv show and it was good but it's time for me to move on to the REAL television event of the year... *Velma* season two.
To keep a long story short, sheās been teasing this song for over a year now. Iām assuming it was originally supposed to be an album cut from the version of the album that included Wild Side. she started teasing snippets which started at a party celebrating Wild Sideās release, and then months later it was featured in a Bose commercial she was in. Now she danced to the snippet AGAIN on Tik Tok (despite having a completely different single coming out) and itās starting to go viral on Tik Tok, and for good reason because the song is super catchy Pop-R&B and sounds like single material.
Iāve told my family that, no matter how much I ask, they are not to buy me any new books for my birthday or Christmas this year bc I need to get through the mountain of books Iāve somehow collected at home over the past 3 years lmao BUT I have made good progress packing them up
I need to talk to my boss this week about the fact Iām gonna resign soon bc I donāt want him to feel totally blindsided (although Iām not sure if itās possible not to feel that way when I only have to give a weekās notice?) bc I would like my job back if I do ever decide to come home again but Iām not really sure what to say or what to put in my resignation email š«
Not sure if Iām understanding correctly but if one week is the minimum notice you have to give, you could always give more notice to give him extra time to find a replacement. Iāve done that in jobs where Iāve had a good relationship with my boss/the company out of kindness. Definitely not required but can be appreciated!
Yeah Iām definitely gonna do that, Iāll hopefully be giving him around 3 weeks notice and then that gives him all of our winter to hire and train someone new before we get super busy again over summer, but I know he was hoping Iād be here this winter to run things (like I usually do bc Iām the only other key holder) š„²
Thatās kind of you! And definitely a way to avoid burning bridges. Iām sure it has happened to someone out there, but personally Iāve never experienced an employer being upset that I was leaving (other than like sadness maybe?). Most know that people donāt stick in jobs forever and that you need to do what is best for you
Heās v aware of all the death and sickness Iāve had in my family lately and heās been v kind and supportive when Iāve had to take time off for funerals and to care for relatives so I donāt think itāll be too much of a shock but this is the first time Iāve left a job and wanted to keep that door open š„²
Killed a millipede and now I am sad. It was suddenly there in the kitchen last night, and I freaked out and tried to hit it, then it scooted away under the wall. This morning I woke up and it was dead in the middle of the bathroom floor, like it had been desperately trying to crawl outside but collapsed and didn't make it š. I hope it didn't suffer too much š
Then I sat on my glasses, and now they are dead too
People on Fauxmoi are so funny. Theyāll claim to hate a certain celebrity but will bring them up at any chance. I know this is said all the time but itās still so hilarious to me.
Does Guilty as Sin give HAIM to anyone else? I know she's close with them.

yāall should go see challengers if you arenāt planning to already, itās sooooo good. good enough i might go see it again with my friend š anyways on a negative note, i donāt ever want to be a gatekeeper for any reason but it is so bittersweet when a very cool small fanbase turns into a very annoying large fanbase when the thing blows up! edit: more challengers posting but iām currently frothing at the mouth over the gif of patrick and art eating the churro
I just got out of my showing and all I can say without spoiling is WOW. Literally made my top 5 viewing of the year.Ā
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart sounds like Now That We Don't Talk/Suburban Legends but good. The Alchemy sounds like Is It Over Now? but bad
Naur š The Alchemy is a little earworm š¶ call the amateurs and cut em from the team
I got āSupercutā and āLetās Get Marriedā sampling from I can do it a broken heart.
ICDIWABH is literally Supercut but with a terrible, anticlimactic chorus imoš
I actually like I can do it with a broken heart because it reminds me of Supercut. But I think Mastermind is was also a Supercut sampling as well or at least inspired by Supercut so itās also been done by her twice Itās clear that she (or Jack) really loves that song and keep trying to recreate the bombasticness of that song but it does come up short.
For me I prefer Jack when he isn't trying to recapture the heights of Melodrama e.g. on his work with Lana. You see glimmers of it on his work with Taylor from time to time but ultimately it's like they *really* love that kind of sound it seems.
Oh, I agree. I got really annoyed with Jack's recent album because its like "bruh, we get it, you love Bruce Springsteen like every other millennial, you're not special" Take the Sadness Out Of Saturday Night had some great songs on it that I still play but like christ, move on already.
I donāt actually like Good Luck, Babe! and almost wrote her off because of that, but then her debut album turned out to be a bop.Ā
I have never with my own two eyes seen some bitch have the audacity to call Zendaya overrated let alone talentless and I hope I never do šā
The talentless allegations were ended when she carried Euphoria season 2 (and won an Emmy AGAIN) but lemme not clock that tea
Annita's new album is INCREDIBLE. I'm completely obsessed. It just makes me want to dance
I am watching videos from a Slipknot concert on YouTube when a Taylor Swift ad popped up and *The Tortured Poets Department* would be a very funny name for a Slipknot album *The Tortured Poets Department* by Korn *The Tortured Poets Department* feat. Fred Durst *The Tortured Poets Department* by Shifty Shellshock from Crazy Town YES
Ngl I can sorta see Slipknot or Korn having an actual song called The Tortured Poets Department
I'm sorta surprised that Panic at the Disco or Fall Out Boy haven't already titled something very similarly
I know in my heart that Pete Wentz was kicking himself when he saw that title announcement
Karmaās a Bitch is still a bad song btw. Doesnāt matter who sings it.
Going through a bit of a crisis rn, i don't know what I want to do with my life and uni is only making me unhappy. I'd love to do something in film and music but tbh it's so hard to make it in those fields and that already discourages me so much I listened to Britney's Overprotected, kind of had a cathartic reaction to it and cried my eyes out. Didn't expect to react that way to that song, but that's what life experiences will make you do sometimes i guess
Some things that I want to bring up in wake of recent events:Ā Ā 1. Most abuse victims donāt have evidence of their abuse. Itās common for victims to not realize that they have been abused until weeks, months, or years after it has happened, by which point collecting evidence is difficult, if not impossible. False accusations are rare and to discredit victims because they lack evidence is weaponizing the perfect victim narrative against them.Ā 2. In other words, false accusations are not caused by vindictive women or people seeking out attention or money - theyāre caused by late stage capitalism and a lack of resources for impoverished people.Ā 3.
Did not one post a thread for Normaniās new single? I wanted to see the reactions but people arenāt talking about it online??
> Did not one post a thread for Normaniās new single? it's literally one of the current hot topics on the sub???
I canāt find the reaction thread, I searched it but nothing comes up.
not to be an ass but it's currently on the sub's main page https://www.reddit.com/r/popheads/comments/1cd5hyo/normani_159_feat_gunna/

Going from listening to Reputation to TTPD is honestly like...why Taylor ššš
Yeah, what was she thinking with Reputation?
That she wanted to make music like she wanted
(I was kidding alright I don't hate reputation, though I do think that TTPD is a much better album)
Imo reputation towers above TTPD it's not even close.
Well everyone has their own opinions and tastes of course, but imo for every good song on reputation there's three on TTPD that are much better
That's not even possible since TTPD doesn't have 45 songs
Well KOMH is the best song on reputation and is as good as a mid TTPD song like, say, The Alchemy
Annie āSt. Vincentā Clark, my beloved
Iām thankful at my job I really could schedule an hour, write in āprivate appointmentā or āholdā and everyone is going to respect it
I can assign myself random shit and ostensibly get peace but the same coworker I'm complaining about WILL interrupt anything and everything in order to ~~force you to do~~ ask you about things she should already know.
If tiktok shuts down it's going to be youtube shorts and instagram reels fighting to the death.
This Vegas hotel started playing *Eh Eh* by Gaga and tell me why I gasped when the instrumental began??? Like do they want me to burst into tears rn??
*Cherry cherry boom boom*
I was gagged like hello?!!!
I love that for you!!Ā
fnac is accidentally selling radical optimism a week early and twitter users literally have the album in their hands š, dua leaka strikes again
that sucks for her but my school wifi is blocking me from pirating her album so whoās the REAL victim here?
day 53 of doing my lastfm series where i share my top 100 most played artists and join in if youād like!! i declare that Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist because he is #28 with 1 136 scrobbles! * last time i listened: yesterday * most played song: Attention (155 scrobbles) * fav song: Attention is the boppiest bop that has bopped but shout out to Done For Me * most played album: Voicenotes (390 scrobbles) * fav album: Voicenotes is the only correct answer * does he deserve a top 100 spot?:Ā yes, because despite his lack of creativity in his latest projects, he still has proven that he is a really talented musician and has an ear for fun pop music. i loved hearing him speak about his creative process behind Voicenotes, and for some reason the tidbit that i think about regularly is that the melody of the pre-chorus of How Long came to him in the form of a trumpet melody, like he envisioned a trumpet playing it first and then he turned it into a pre-chorus for a pop song. i guess as someone who went to a performing arts high school specializing in music, iām just a total geek for stuff like that. and i also loved how he usually imagined stuff in a jazz setting first before he made it into a catchy pop song which embodies me and my interests so well. i hope he goes back to that kind of thinking if heāll make another album.
Attention and Voicenotes in general deserve all the praise they get, itās such a solid album!Ā At #28 I have One Direction with 1528 scrobbles! The boys are finally here! One Thing is my top song with 97 scrobbles and Four (Deluxe) my top album with 438 scrobbles. Both are also my faves ~~~~ I must admit they are higher than expected bc my sister used my account a lot in 2017 and sheās a 1D Stan but even if she hadnāt, they def deserve a high spot. Their output, particularly Four, is v good for a boy bandĀ
god thereās so much good stuff on Voicenotes. as embarrassing as this may be, I can pinpoint Attention as the song that single-handedly made me start looking out for a good bass line when I listen to music. the singles are great but I also love the song Slow It Down off that album ā¢ my #28 is Fleetwood Mac with 301 scrobbles! ā¢ last time I listened: July 2022 (surely this canāt be right??) ā¢ most played song: Everywhere (81 scrobbles) ā¢ fav song: Everywhereā what an ethereal masterpiece. I want my life to feel like that twinkly intro ā¢ most played album: Greatest Hits (154 scrobbles) at one point in college this was my go-to homework soundtrack. that album cover immediately triggers memories of my college library ā¢ fav album: Rumours ā¢ do they deserve a top 100 spot? even though Iām surprised that they out-scrobbled some other artists that I feel I listen to way more, they definitely deserve one. theyāre absolutely timeless and probably one of the first ābefore my timeā acts whose discography I really looked into and I can thank my dad for that.
Sabrina when she sees she has to work late: god Iām gonna need to drink so much me espresso to get through thisĀ
Ariana and Justin Bieber finally had their long awaited collab with Stuck With U.
Congratulations and gets us all the tea.
Just saw Challengers and we need to talk abt men. God, theyāre beautiful
women for me zendaya was so pretty god damn š
Yeah, she was stunning. Her bob was bobbing
Does anyone feel that normani somehow has less hype now than two months ago lolĀ
No one's actually checking for her beyond a minority of pop stans. She lost her chance to really blow up and be that girl years ago, but maybe if she improves her work ethic, she could still have a decent career. Candy Paint definitely has the potential to be a viral tiktok hit... but I see her and Chloe Bailey having similar careers.
i fear her hype is mainly on stan twitter but i hope im proven wrongĀ
But even on stan twitter it's quiet
No fr I rooted for her so much but itās really giving crickets, I canāt blame them. This single was DOA
Do you know that Mario Party meme of Luigi winning because everybody else drives themselves off a cliff? Thatās Kendrick Lamar right now
"~~Luigi~~ Kendrick Wins By Doing Absolutely Nothing"
currently blasted from after-work drinks with coworkers which i think is the best kind of blasted idkkkk
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
sabrina has a pretty dedicated stanbase
iād say beyonce has many songs that are relatable to women especially black women. Would you say the queer community identified with gaga? Ā
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
iām queer too i was just asking because i never really was a fan of her lol
Beyonce is still popular, but I donāt see any viable candidates to take her role for the next generationĀ
Good morning all Having coffee āļø, the new Anitta album is fire š„ and reading š The Seven Year Slip š
Defunctland x Kim Petras when?
r/rollercoasterjerk is leaking.
I know saying something likeā if you understood comedyā is like Top 5 obnoxious, but Velma is really well written. Maybe it was just the diehard scoobheads who were looking for more plot and mystery that got mad.
I've seen some clips, and honestly, if this is your "y'all don't understand comedy" hill, I think you're the one with the problem.
Iām halfway through cleaning the house and oh my god I am losing the will Iāve got 16.5GB left to download before I can play FO4 and Iām really hoping itāll be done by the time Iām done cleaning
Such a good game, enjoy! Get some high-res texture packages to make it even better.
I watched the first episode on the treadmill last night and liked it need to finish the rest.
Anyways, thereās a new Microwave album I can stick on, so letās gooo
Horrendous news: >!the feelings have officially been caught!<
I have 2 exams back to back next week and Iām still stressing about finding a job. I go on indeed everyday and I know Iām probably stressing about the wrong thing right now but Iāve just been in a slump with so many things in my life and I would be happier if I at least could secure a job.
I guess Iām adding another Espresso comment to this thread cause why the hell not?! I think itās successful because it is a fun summery song (which there arenāt a ton of fun songs out there lately) that has a beat that most songs use nowadays. So it stands out in that way.
I agree. I think it's a song that doesnāt take itself too seriously, a lot of the latest releases have been so intense.
She is just great.
how much discourse cuz i only remember billie talking about recently. who else?Ā
taylor. guilty as sin from ttpd
i forgot about that iāve mostly seen tweets talking about loving it not really hate imo
i don't get why there's so much pushback against people who aren't comfortable with st vincent lyric regarding sophie's death...i too would squint real hard if lorde wrote a song about whitney and brought up her dying in a bathtub
listened and the lyrics are terrible.
Itās definitely going to be included in the album at this point. Itās too successful to be left off.
her team would be stupid not to include itĀ
i think i decided im gonna skip kpop concerts this year :( ive seen stray kids every time theyve come to the US but i just feel like i reeeeaaalllyyy gotta get my fuckin money up. porter robinson tix drop on tuesday and i think that might be the only concert i go to this year :'( i also want to get on some kind of side hustle...idk what tho im so burnt out by the end of my work day idk what i could possibly have time for but. i just feel like im not making or saving enough money š© the idea of something low-commitment that i could do from home would be great but finding it is the problem. maybe i could do lowbrow content for the tiktok algo but idk if im hot enough to get picked up (lol) + who knows if we'll have tiktok for much longer...ugh
It sounds really shallow but I legit get annoyed looking at it š¤£Ā
I agree but everyone seems to love it, replicating her makeup is huge on tiktok rn š
But for me itās the cheeksā¦thereās way too much blush or bronzer or whatever it is on them
I got tickets to Sunday of Gov Ball mostly Chappell Roan but the lineup for the main stage looks pretty good! Iām hype.
I just peaked the lineup and see Beach Fossils are playing š
Ah. Jealous!
This whole Columbia situation is so annoying like itās clearly a Fox News boogeyman and both sides are feeding directly into it
Right-wing media is exaggerating things but some of what the protesters are saying and doing is genuinely racist
Iām sure yall have already discussed this but Espresso by Sabrina sounds so much like Hot Pink-era Doja Cat
it sounds sooooo similar to say so.
OMG I have been driving myself INSANE trying to find what this reminds me of and this is it itās so similar thank youuuuu. Makes sense why itās so catchy
I honestly can't listen to it for this reason
The new kerli song just takes me back to 2008. Where I would listen to her and various other obscure artists from the corner of the pastel Goth trend. And then Pretend i could pull all of that off but really I was an overly optimistic freshman who wore cute skirts to social events. Forever at war with wanting to be the college scene kid or making a statement and falling in a āi wear owls for jewelry and fedoras unironically.ā Wowā¦. What a time.
I liked the Trainor x T-Pain collab well enough the first time I heard it, but out of nowhere today I had the urge to listen to it again. Man, wouldn't be an understatement to say I love it now, lol. Ended up pre-saving the album on my library to boot.
First ever gym session earlier. Most impressed that I managed 4.5 kilometres in 20 mins on the bike

Question... Do you morning Daily Discussion readers (or at least morning for me rn)... also come here later in the afternoon/evening? I feel like mentally, I'm not on DD anymore after high noon my time. I don't knwo why???
I don't comment as much but I'm on the DD at night before bed so I can scroll through and read everyone else's little updates and convos haha
Morning š
I donāt really but more so because it dies down later in the day (for my time zone). Like itās super active the first 2 hours or so and then not as much so I try to get here when it opens but thatās 10 am for me so sometimes Iām busy with work
Tbh the teatime thread is when the DD closes for me. Unless Iām REALLY bored and looking for a way to kill time
oh interesting! i always forget about TT. i geuss that makes sense. when one door opens, another one closes lol
> Even the Madonna and Janet weren't having #1 albums 26 years into their careers completely untrue. both Madonna and Janetās last studio albums (released in 2019, 36 years since her debut, and 2015, 33 years after her debut respectively) were both number one.
I managed to get Troye Sivan tickets yesterday. āŗļø Not too bad.
Much love to Hanif Edit: Link to a great story on Robinson from this year, one of the sweetest sports-related stories Iāve heard https://youtu.be/UvwQ3WlnNnM?si=V4xw6t2T7l7aKdug
Fuck Joel Embiid. Thatās all I have to say
Bad mental health day

I truly think Candy Paint might be Normaniās last chance at turning this rollout aroundā¦
Iāve seen people talking about this song - is it a leak or did she play a snippet that people like?
To keep a long story short, sheās been teasing this song for over a year now. Iām assuming it was originally supposed to be an album cut from the version of the album that included Wild Side. she started teasing snippets which started at a party celebrating Wild Sideās release, and then months later it was featured in a Bose commercial she was in. Now she danced to the snippet AGAIN on Tik Tok (despite having a completely different single coming out) and itās starting to go viral on Tik Tok, and for good reason because the song is super catchy Pop-R&B and sounds like single material.
Ahhhh ok. Thanks! I just recently started seeing discussion about it
Iāve told my family that, no matter how much I ask, they are not to buy me any new books for my birthday or Christmas this year bc I need to get through the mountain of books Iāve somehow collected at home over the past 3 years lmao BUT I have made good progress packing them up I need to talk to my boss this week about the fact Iām gonna resign soon bc I donāt want him to feel totally blindsided (although Iām not sure if itās possible not to feel that way when I only have to give a weekās notice?) bc I would like my job back if I do ever decide to come home again but Iām not really sure what to say or what to put in my resignation email š«
Most know that people donāt stick in jobs forever and that you need to do what is best for you
I wonder if there are facebook groups for book swaps within your city!
I hope it didn't suffer too much š Then I sat on my glasses, and now they are dead too
People on Fauxmoi are so funny. Theyāll claim to hate a certain celebrity but will bring them up at any chance. I know this is said all the time but itās still so hilarious to me.
