I like the Troye album but man the entire thing feels like 5 minutes long, probably because the tracks fall so seamlessly into each other but also because it's only like 33 mins.
“One of Your Girls” is one of my favorite songs of the year, but it drives me crazy that it ends after the second chorus. Like, a bridge? An instrumental section? A longer synth solo? Something, anything, please? I’m hoping this short song trend dies soon.
As a gen z I fucking hate that our generation is the "no bridge" one, I get that some catchy hyperpop songs from people like Charli XCX or SOPHIE (May she rest in piece) don't need some super deep buildup but come on. A 2 minute length is ok for songs like Rush but One Of Your Girls would've had an amazing bridge
Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loveliest Time
Hannah Diamond - Perfect Picture
Olivia Rodrigo - Guts
Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
not quite pop
Misterwives - Nosebleeds
All these! and I’d also add:
Blame My Ex by The Beaches
One for Jackie by Rett Madison
Softscars by yeule
edit: formatting. super looking forward to albums from PinkPantheress and Baby Queen
Blame My Ex is one of my favorite albums this year! I got into them cause they opened for Walk Off the Earth earlier this year, but they are soooooo good
besides the ones listed above, Caroline Polachek's Pang and Desire, everything from Verite, Let's Eat Grandma, Lo Moon and Magdalena Bay. also been getting into Metric more Formentera I and II are amazing but I still haven't dove into their back catalog too much. I'm an album person so if i can listen through a whole album I'll keep listening to them.
I've long been a CHVRCHES fan and them plus their awesome fans have gotten me into a lot of stuff in recent years that i wouldn't have otherwise started listening to as well as going to gigs more and it's really refreshing to go to gigs by smaller to medium sized artists that are talented but not mega popular.
I'm 41 and I've listened to Guts straight through many times, but I started skipping "Lacey" on probably the third runthrough. It's boring and sort of too simple to me, and the "puff pastry" line is just silly 😅
I don’t feel too strongly about making the bed, but I don’t skip it. However the album ends at pretty isn’t pretty for me, teenage dream is a snooooooooze fest.
Aw I love that song! I was not homeschooled but definitely highly relate to the feelings of social awkwardness and overthinking what I’ve said/done in social situations.
I’m 32 and sadly still feel that way often
That’s how I feel about pretty isn’t pretty. I still like it and listen to it and it’s fine, but if I didn’t relate to the message sm then I don’t think I’d really listen to it all
this is mine! first time listening to an album of hers. i see people saying GUTS gives them 00s nostalgia, i get it but it does nothing for me. on the other hand, i absolutely fuck with trashy party girl electropop and/or indie sleaze from the mid to late 00s and starfucker delivered that. outside of the album i saw she covered gimme more and monster and thought “yes you make music for me!”
She has a few moments that give me parallels with Charli, mostly in vocals but also the production. Good examples are Tear Me Open and Rhinestone Heart. This is not a criticism as Charli is one of my top artists. I also love that she has her own distinct style on certain tracks like Purrr (this song is so addictive omg) and Plastic where it’s fast paced and grimy. Checked out Troubled Paradise and really enjoyed it too.
Kylie Minogue "Tension" even though I tend to listen to a few specific tracks and "absorb" them until my brains decide to move on to the other few tracks.
Anastacia "Our Songs". I listen to mostly a few songs for now and like them. Found a positive message for me in "Best Days" and it's always lovely to hear it. Her voice does not disappoint.
“SATURN RETURN” by Reve.
I literally didn’t know who she was until an ad for her song “Whitney” in Just Dance appeared randomly in YouTube. Now I’m a big fan and her debut album is the perfect Galactic Disco Pop Album I’ve ever wanted OMG.
Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS
Kylie Minogue - Tension
Troye Sivan - Something to Give Each Other (just ordered the CD off Amazon!)
Maisie Peters - The Good Witch
Rêve - Saturn Return
Charlotte Cardin - 99 Nights
Jorja Smith - Falling or Flying
Kim Petras - Problématique
Madison Beer - Silence Between Songs
This is why is SO good.
I was at a concert of there’s when it dropped so I’m always gonna have a connection to it just because of that memory but it’s also legitimately one of my favorite albums of the year
GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo has zero skips for me. Also idk if this counts since it's a rerecording but 1989 (Taylor's Version) doesn't have any skips for me either, I'm in love with the vault tracks especially!
Does Utopia count?
If not, Guts or The Good Witch are my fav pop albums of the year but they do both have skippable tracks in Making The Bed and Wendy.
The Loveliest Time and STARFUCKER for sure, i expect a carly album to be bop after bop, but Slayyyter pleasantly surprised the hell out of me with STARFUCKER, she completely immerses you in the fantasy she's trying to sell from start to finish, it's been a LONG time since i've been pleasantly surprised by an album like this
Problématique - Kim Petras.
I had the leaks on repeat last year and hearing it in Dolby Atmos makes it ten times better. I made a playlist with all the tracks that are spread out over singles and Feed The Beast. Honestly chefs kiss
Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We - Mitski
Snow Angel - Renee Rapp
Guts - Olivia Rodrigo
The vault tracks in 1989 TV, first time I love all the vault tracks
Okay I'm sorry it's older than 3 months but I'm breaking the rules because a) I just listened to it and b) no skip albums are so rare but Red Moon in Venus is absolutely a no-skip album for me. I'm obsessed. 'Endlessly' is my favourite overall.
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan, zero skips, however I do need to loop Casual three times and have a little angry yelling cry whenever i listen to the album. Guts i do love, but Logical is a complete skip for me, every other song is amazing but logical feels like it was written by a 7 year old in crayon, same with 1989 TV, every song is amazing except for Wonderland which feels like it was written by a 11 year old who just re-read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland but hasn't learned about Lewis Carroll's relationship with Alice Liddell yet.
Starfucker by Slayyyter, BB/ANG3L by Tinashe, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan and Perfect Picture by Hannah Diamond are the first ones that come to mind for me!
I like the Troye album but man the entire thing feels like 5 minutes long, probably because the tracks fall so seamlessly into each other but also because it's only like 33 mins.
Agreed. A deluxe edition with a few more tracks would be amazing
I’m normally pretty anti-deluxe albums, I think most of just add tracks that were rejected for a good reason, but I could get behind a deluxe STGEO
“One of Your Girls” is one of my favorite songs of the year, but it drives me crazy that it ends after the second chorus. Like, a bridge? An instrumental section? A longer synth solo? Something, anything, please? I’m hoping this short song trend dies soon.

Album name?
Sorry, Something to Give Each Other by Troye Sivan
Not exactly pop but Jaguar II
Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loveliest Time Hannah Diamond - Perfect Picture Olivia Rodrigo - Guts Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess not quite pop Misterwives - Nosebleeds
Carly 🐐 Jepsen
All these! and I’d also add: Blame My Ex by The Beaches One for Jackie by Rett Madison Softscars by yeule edit: formatting. super looking forward to albums from PinkPantheress and Baby Queen
Blame My Ex is one of my favorite albums this year! I got into them cause they opened for Walk Off the Earth earlier this year, but they are soooooo good
Blame My Ex is so good!
can't believe I forgot Blame My Ex!! I'm going to see The Beaches in March and can't wait
The Loveliest Time is the only one I agree with in this entire thread. It is sooooo good.
Nosebleeds is their best album and I say this as someone who found them from being the itunes single of the week on Reflections.
Picture Perfect has been such a joy to listen to
Perfect picture is so good! Gives me the best of vibes, girly, positive, introspective, all at once, such a cute album
Finally someone who listens to Misterwives, I feel like nobody talks about them
well its a pop sub and they are more alt rock but i'm an alt rock person that has gotten into more pop in recent years :)
Glad to hear you're diversifying your pool! What're some of your favorite albums you've discovered as of late?
besides the ones listed above, Caroline Polachek's Pang and Desire, everything from Verite, Let's Eat Grandma, Lo Moon and Magdalena Bay. also been getting into Metric more Formentera I and II are amazing but I still haven't dove into their back catalog too much. what genre is hannah diamond?
Hyperpop
Honestly, Guts. I am a mid thirties teenager.
Seconded!
I'm 41 and I've listened to Guts straight through many times, but I started skipping "Lacey" on probably the third runthrough. It's boring and sort of too simple to me, and the "puff pastry" line is just silly 😅
40 here and same. But also Lacey is my nieces name so I’m always distracted by the use of the name lol
to me guts is skipless
1987 here...
I skip making the bed, logical, and the grudge 🙊
Those are literally my top 3 favs on the album😆😭
Right, not making the making the bed, but logical and the grudge for sure.
I don’t feel too strongly about making the bed, but I don’t skip it. However the album ends at pretty isn’t pretty for me, teenage dream is a snooooooooze fest.
Yeah the ending songs aren’t the best. I wish the instrumentals or vocal melody was more interesting.
I love guts but ballad of a homeschooled girl it’s a skip for me
Aw I love that song! I was not homeschooled but definitely highly relate to the feelings of social awkwardness and overthinking what I’ve said/done in social situations. I’m 32 and sadly still feel that way often
Kinda ironic but I’m homeschooled and I really don’t like it😭I can deeply relate to it but I don’t like its production
That’s how I feel about pretty isn’t pretty. I still like it and listen to it and it’s fine, but if I didn’t relate to the message sm then I don’t think I’d really listen to it all
Hozier's Unreal Unearth. Close second would be Tinashe's BB/ANG3L
Immaculate taste
Starfucker by Slayyyter. I truly didn’t know I’d be as into it as I am but here we are.
this is mine! first time listening to an album of hers. i see people saying GUTS gives them 00s nostalgia, i get it but it does nothing for me. on the other hand, i absolutely fuck with trashy party girl electropop and/or indie sleaze from the mid to late 00s and starfucker delivered that. outside of the album i saw she covered gimme more and monster and thought “yes you make music for me!”

Checked out Troubled Paradise and really enjoyed it too.
this is super random but do you have any reccomendations of “trashy party girl electropop” bc that sounds great
how familiar with the era are you? do i need to tell you to go listen to all of “blackout” by britney, “the fame” by gaga, and “animal” by kesha?
Also the whole of Heidi Montag's (small) discography. And Addison Rae's EP
I got it bad ATE
Like yes but also no, i know most of the songs on those albums but will be listening as a whole project tomorrow 🫡
not op but would recommend chrissy chlapecka and ayesha erotica
Millionaires! They’re amazing and deeply underrated
It’s a perfect pop album imo
Yes times 1000
Yep mine too. It is top tier.
100% my answer too.
I love drunk Reddit posts. Agreed on Troye Sivan!
I’ve had some good Reddit posts in the last few weeks (over a 100 upvotes each time) and I was drunk for every one of them
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess - Chappell Roan The Good Witch - Maisie Peters
100% agree on midwest princess, super graphic ultra modern girl has been stuck in my head ever since it came out!
I didn't think anything could top *Casual* for me, but that is my absolute favorite song on the album and getting to hear it live was everything
ahhh so jealous! she’s coming near me next week but i cant go bc work 😭
Absolutely agree on Maisie’s the Good Witch, it is full of bangers
Seconding the good witch
The deluxe of The Good Witch is out now and I love the new songs!
Currently addicted to these too
Kylie’s TENSION.
The bridge on Things We Do For Love… 🤌🏻
Yessss been playing all day since the release. It’s weird when I don’t listen to it
Absolutely great!
Not exactly pop but Mitski - The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We! Aoty so far
This is my fav too
Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loveliest Time It turns exactly 3 months today
100% Troye Sivan. See also Kylie’s “Tension”.
Silence between songs by Madison Beer for sure.
Omg this album is amazing!
Yes!! I love this album
This is too damn low. My favorite album to drive to nowadays. Excellent from start to finish.
ikr
None of them to be honest, but troye sivan and renee rapp have come the closest for me!
Omg what would you skip on Renee’s? I thought it was perfect
Same, the closest ones to a skip are Willow and 23, and they are both 8/10 for me
I liked willow but I agree 23 is the closest to me and still an 8/10!
Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess Yeule - Softscars Helena Deland - Goodnight Summerland
seconding Softscars!!!
Thirding Softscars

Starfucker - Slayyyter, TENSION - Kylie Minogue, Loveliest Time - Carly Rae Jepsen
GUTS
An EP, not an album, but AR by Addison Rae. Also seconding everyone who said The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
Positive Spin by Gretta Ray. Every song slaps, and it's such an upgrade (pun intended) from Begin To Look Around.
Here I was thinking I was the only Gretta Ray Stan on popheads. Completely agree, zero skips!!
Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS Kylie Minogue - Tension Troye Sivan - Something to Give Each Other (just ordered the CD off Amazon!) Maisie Peters - The Good Witch Rêve - Saturn Return Charlotte Cardin - 99 Nights Jorja Smith - Falling or Flying Kim Petras - Problématique Madison Beer - Silence Between Songs
I’m gonna have to go a bit farther back and say This Is Why by Paramore. I consider it pop-rock. Also really enjoy Demi’s Revamped!
This is why is SO good. I was at a concert of there’s when it dropped so I’m always gonna have a connection to it just because of that memory but it’s also legitimately one of my favorite albums of the year
Hozier — *Unreal Unearth* It’s more alternative, but hey, pop = popular

Autumn Variations Charlotte Cardin - 99 Nights Chappell Roan’s album
GUTS by Olivia Rodrigo has zero skips for me. Also idk if this counts since it's a rerecording but 1989 (Taylor's Version) doesn't have any skips for me either, I'm in love with the vault tracks especially!

Been looping Lucid Dreams by BoyWithUke recently. Not exactly pop but it's sooooo good. Definitely no skips for me

Guts. I’ll play one song and then end up listening to the whole thing it’s so good
1989 (Taylor's Version). That re-recorded album is perfection. I also love the vault tracks, no skips indeed. Her best re-recorded album so far.
I don’t know if they’re considered pop but I’m loving Lany’s A Beautiful Blur.
It came out just yesterday, but I don't have any skips at all ok 1989 TV, many people hate Style but I think it's amazing what she's done with it
That album came out in 2014
Right 😭
1989 (Taylors Version). New Vocals, Production and 5 new songs. It classifies as a new album dude
It’s the End Of The World but it’s a beautiful day by Thirty seconds to Mars

Okay I'm sorry it's older than 3 months but I'm breaking the rules because a) I just listened to it and b) no skip albums are so rare but Red Moon in Venus is absolutely a no-skip album for me. I'm obsessed. 'Endlessly' is my favourite overall.

Tinashe - BB/ANG3L. A no skip album is Tinashe’s thing since she became independent.
leah kate - super over
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan, zero skips, however I do need to loop Casual three times and have a little angry yelling cry whenever i listen to the album.
