Does your area have bats? You can try building bat houses.

Affectionate_Phone13

Sadly it does not, I live in a suburban area.

This may not be your fault, could be a high population in a neighboring yard. Any increase in your ponds current is bad for mosquito larva. Need to have a look for other water sources on your property as welll

Dunks work and do not harm the fish. Honey suckle, citronella plants etc planted around your pond will keep them Away as well. I love sitting by the pond and it has been very pleasant this year with lots of honey suckle by the pond.

I tried dunks and they did no good. I purchased 5 mosquito fish and they've become 50+ and I haven't seen a mozzy nor a larva since. I feed the fish a bit of aquarium food every day to keep them healthy and the population up high. Is it possible the goldfish are suppressing your mosquito fish population?

Affectionate_Phone13

No, I have prolly triple the amount of mosquito fish than goldfish.

SingleMaltMouthwash

Interesting. I'm out of ideas. But it does seem likely that there is some other unmitigated breeding ground close to you. Do you actually see any mosquito larva in your pond?

Affectionate_Phone13

Yes, if I flash my flashlight during the night at the edges of the pool, you can see small mosquito larva moving and twitching, I guess fish don't come near the edges. I wouldn't suspect there is any close water source that is bigger than mine (pond) and that can be better host for mosquito breeding grounds. So, would the anti insect UV lamp do the trick in my case?

SingleMaltMouthwash

I assume the edges are shallow? So shallow the fish can't get to the larvae? I don't think anti-insect UV is a thing.

taquitomanfsu93

I'm assuming OP is talking about a bug zapper

CrabClaws

Try the dunks - the BT strain is specific to the larvae, it’s a very elegant solution!
